Description
WPL Book Drop Podcast - Episode 11 Audio Book Month
Endya Johnson joins us to talk about her favorite Audio Books.
A
A
A
B
I
am
a
avid
user,
I
listen
to
audiobooks
all
the
time
and
my
go-to
is
libby.
Libby
is
something
that
you
can
download
in
your
store
if
it's
the
apple
store
or
the
android
store
the
play
store
on
your
android
phone
phone-
and
you
know
you
have
a
selection
of
great
books
through
the
city
falls
waterloo,
library
that
you
can
have
access
to,
and
the
beauty
of
it
is
that
it's
not
like
a
book
that
you
actually
have
to
return
physically
in
the
building.
B
You
can
it'll
drop
off
after
14
to
21
days,
so
you
do
have
options
as
how
long
you
want
the
books
and
they
have
children's
books.
They
have
you
know
adult
books,
team
books
and
a
lot
of
variations
non-fiction
for
those
who
are
interested
and
then
there's
also
the
hoopla
app.
That
also
has
option
for
audio
books.
E-Books
also
so
does
libby,
and
they
also
have
videos
that
you
can
watch
too
on
the
hoopla
app,
I
will
say,
hoopla
will
be.
B
I
will
say:
libby
will
be
my
first
go-to
especially
want
newer
books.
Hoopla
has
a
few
and
there's
usually
no
wait.
You
know
they,
the
books
are
instant,
and
so,
but
if
you're
looking
for
maybe
an
older
book
on
hoopla,
they
couldn't
possibly
have
it.
Also.
So
just
the
option
to
have
two
options
is
great.
Sometimes
I
sleep
on
hoopla
and
there's
like
oh.
If
I
can't
get
it,
let
me
or
if
I
can't
find
it
on
libby
I'll
check
out,
hoopla
so
yeah
sure.
A
Yeah,
the
thing
that
I
really
like
about
hoopla
is
that
we
only
get
five
checkouts
per
calendar
month,
but
you
don't
have
to
wait.
There's
no
wait
list
so
even.
A
B
Absolutely
I
remember
you
were
saying
that
you've
already
kind
of
discussed
four
wins
by
hannah-
forget
her
last
name,
but
I
know
that
was
like
a
major
weight
for
a
lot
of
people
to
have
to
find.
I
believe
it's
on
hoopla,
so
you
know
it's
just
having
a
second
option
for
people
to
kind
of
look
at
so.
A
Definitely
that's
great
since
we're
both
big
fans
of
audiobooks.
Let's
talk
about
some
of
our
favorites.
B
Definitely
so
you
know
you
have
I
kind
of
looked
and
and
learned
that
there's,
like
85
percent
of
people,
listen
like
learn
through
listening
and
so
for
me,
one
of
the
first
audiobooks
that
I
picked
up
was
neil
gaiman
american
guys,
and
I
remember,
we
went
on
a
road
trip
to
michigan
with
my
family
and
we
were
enthralled
like
the
voice
was
fantastic,
the
characters
were
fantastic
and
then
you
know
a
few
years
later.
B
Obviously
they
made
a
fx
or
a
tv
show
american
guys
on
on
tv,
but
it
was
just
it
just
drew
you
in
like
it
was
amazing
and
so
from
there.
That
was
literally
my
jumping
off
point
to
begin
in
being
more
engaged
through
audiobooks,
and
I
can't
say
enough
about
the
characters
and
voices
I
mean
it
really
does
make
me
want
to
continue.
I've
have
a
couple
that
I'm
like.
We
cannot.
Even
I
don't
care
how
popular
the
book
is.
I
will
not
listen
to
a
bad
audio.
B
I
do
like
the
fact
that
you
can
speed
it
up
on.
You
know
the
devices
like
libby
this
is
the
voice,
is
too
slow
or
too
fast.
You
can
change
the
speed
on
it,
but
I
think
character
and
voices
do
make
a
good
audio.
You
know
we
kind
of
been
raised
on
storytelling.
You
know
people
listening
to
you
as
you
talk,
and
so
I
kind
of
take
it
to
the
next
level
of
the
adult,
because
I'm
always
moving
but
and
always
in
different
places.
B
Cleaning
bike
ride
walking
sometimes
at
work,
we'll
talk
about
the
last
black
unicorn
by
tiffany
haddish,
but
I
was
listening
to
that
in
the
library
when
I
was
looking
through
the
stacks
and
it
was
laugh
out
loud.
That
was
like,
oh,
I
forgot
where
I'm
at,
but
it
was
so
funny.
It
was
just
so
engaging
and
she
has
a
knack
of
telling
stories,
and
so
you
know
it
was
really
fun
to
be
able
to
listen
to
that.
So
you
know
I'm
always
on
the
move
so
yeah.
A
Yeah,
I
I
do
that
too,
and
I
think
you've
got
another
one
that
you
wanted
to
talk
about.
Is
that
fearless
jones.
B
Yes,
so
alter
walter
mosley,
another
african-american
author.
I
like
his
characters.
He
writes
a
vast
number
of
different
types
of
characters
and
books
and
one
of
the
another
one
he
had
was
fearless
jones
don
cheam,
who
has
played
him
as
an
actor
who's
played
in
multiple
movies,
iron
man
and
various.
He
just
had
a
wonderful
voice.
Hotel
rwanda
was
another
one.
He
had
a
very,
very
distinct
accent,
but
he
did
fearless
jones
character
in
for
walter
mosley's
book.
B
He
never
did
another
one,
and
I
mean
he
never
did
another
voice,
another
audio
book
for
him,
but
man
he
sold
that
character
and
it's
so
funny
because
we
will
go
back
to
that
one
book
just
because
we
love
the
smooth
buttery
voice
that
he
has
for
that
character
and
he
just
sold
it,
but
he
never
did
another
one
like
come.
A
So
I
you
did
mention
the
last
black
unicorn,
which
is
the
book
that
I
brought
today.
It's
actually
on
cd
book.
It's
how
I
listened
to
it.
I
was
I
had
it
in
my
car,
so
I
was
just
laughing
so
hard
on
the
commute
every
day
to
work.
Tiffany
is
great.
She's,
a
comedian
and
actress
best
known
for
the
film
girls
trip.
A
Go
to
new
orleans
and
just
have
a
girls
weekend
and
hilarity
ensues
great
movie.
If
you
haven't
seen
it,
I
recommend
it
but
don't
watch
it
around
the
kids.
Absolutely.
B
A
Her
book,
the
last
black
unicorn
and
just
kind
of
tells
the
story
of
her
life
through
essays
and
then
she's
very
honest
about
some
of
the
things
that
she's
gone
through
as.
B
A
Like
trauma,
but
you
have
to
admire
her
for
her
perseverance
and
her
success
just
by
all
the
things
that
she
went
through,
I
would
say
that
for
some
of
our
listeners
that
could
be
easily
offended.
There's
a
content
warning
there
of
some
of
her
language
and
content
is
explicit.
B
Yes,
she
did
a
fantastic
job
and
I'm
not
sure
when
this
book
came
out.
I've
seen
it
it's
been
on
my
list
of
maybes
to
read,
but
when
you
discuss
that
you
know
a
couple
weeks
ago,
I'm
like
okay,
let's
go
ahead
and
just
listen
to
this
book,
and
I'm
sorry
that
I
have
slept
on
this
book
like
man.
This
book
was
so
funny
and
so
engaging,
and
I
know
that
you
know
her.
B
Her
success
now
has
just
kind
of
blasted
them
and
you
know
she's
doing
some
great
things,
but
to
kind
of
get
some
background.
Information
about
her
was
pretty
amazing,
and
so
you
are
correct.
You
know
she
does
talk
about
a
lot
of
her
trauma
about
a
lot
of
her
history
relationships
with
her
mom
relationship
with
her
ex-husband
that
she
married
twice.
It's
very
revealing
very
much
so
so
I
would
just
take
a
whack
if
you
are
needing
something
to
kind
of
lighten
the
mood
mood.
Excuse
me
this
is
definitely
someone.
A
A
So
the
other
one
that
I
brought
today
was
patrick
swayze
and
lisa
niemi's,
the
time
of
my
life,
it's
patrick
swayze
was
diagnosed
with
pancreatic
cancer.
You
may
remember
he's
best
known
for
his
work
in
dirty
dancing
and
roadhouse
and
ghost
so
a
well-known
actor.
But
this
discusses
his
whole
life.
He
was
a
dancer
and
they
go
through
his
it's
basically
a
reckoning
of
his
life
and
looking
back
and
his
choices
and
his
regrets
and
his
challenges
and
the
highs
and
the
lows
that
that
go
along
with
that.
A
B
A
Yeah,
okay,
that's
cool!
So
before
we
wrap
up
here.
Let's
just
talk
about
some
other
books
that
we
are
reading.
Definitely.
B
So
emily
henry,
I
believe
her
name
is
she
does
a
lot
of
beach
reads.
So
you
know
those
people
who
are
looking
for
something
light
beachy.
You
know.
Hopefully
people
go
on
vacation
and
she
does
have
a
2021
book
called
people
we
meet
on
vacation.
B
She
actually
did
one
last
year,
2019
for
called
beach
reads
and
so
they're
kind
of
really
light.
You
know
nice,
nothing
heavy
and
you
can
get
through
them
pretty
well
and
they
we
do
have
those
on
audio
made
available.
So
that
would
be
a
great
one.
The
visible
life
of
addie
larue.
I
listened
to
that
one.
I'm
a
historical
fiction
fan
major
one,
and
this
was
one
that
a
lot
of
people
were
waiting
listening
to
also,
and
it
was
fantastic.
It
really
draws
you
in
great
characters.
B
The
voice
is
amazing,
so
that
would
be
one.
I
definitely
recommend
to
listen
to.
I'm
currently
listening
to
a
couple
I'll
I'll
say
this.
I
know
that
we
talked
about
four
wins.
Other
people
talked
about
that
great
book
right
now,
I'm
in
a
lull
because
it
was
such
a
great
book,
I'm
kind
of
crying,
because
I'm
like
have
six
books
that
have
not
drawn
me
in
just
yet,
and
it
is
like
my
phobia.
B
Devastating
for
me,
it's
like
oh
man,
so
yeah,
I
will
say
eric
jerome
dickey
was
the
one
I
listened
to
last
and
he
just
recently
died
earlier
this
year
in
2021,
and
it's
this
last
book
and
big
fan
huge
fan
of
eric
jerome
dickey
great
book.
He,
you
know,
left
a
huge
mark
in
the
african
american
community.
As
far
as
the
author
and
his
last
book,
does
he
does
it
great
he.
I
would
definitely
highly
recommend
that,
so
those
would
be
my
big
ones
for
this
year.
A
Yeah
great
what.
A
There
is
a
content
warning,
there's
abuse
talked
about
in
it,
but
it
does
talk
about
everything
that
she
did
in
her
career
and
most
of
the
book,
I
would
say,
is
focused
around
the
relationship
with
her
mother
really
good.
Also,
very
sad.
No
time
like
the
future
by
michael
j
fox
is
another
one
both
of
these.
A
Well,
I
guess
all
of
these
I'm
mentioning
are
on
libby
yeah
michael
j
fox
has
parkinson's
disease
and
he
talks
about
what
the
implications
are
for
him
and
how
difficult
it
is
just
to
do
basic
tasks
like
walking
around
in
his
home,
and
he
tries
to
convince
himself
that
you
know
he's
fine
and
he's
got
a
handle
on
this,
and
everything
will
be
all
right,
but
you
know
he
falls
all
the
time
and
he
gets
injured
and.
B
A
Immediately,
he
thinks
to
myself.
Why
did
I
do
that
and
it's
it's
difficult,
but
I
think
it's
important
story
to
tell
and
share
so
I'm
glad
that
he's
doing
it.
B
Yeah
yeah
there,
it
is
definitely
I
was
thinking
actually
michael
keaton
when
he,
when
he's
on
the
tv
show,
I
forgot
about
back
to
future,
but
his
first
when
he
was
young
and
he
was
in
the
80s
tv
show
so
yeah.
You
remember
that
becky
no.
B
B
A
That's
a
good
one,
and
I've
got
a
few
others
that
I
won't
go
too
much
into
detail
on
the
immortal.
Life
of
henrietta
lacks
excellent
audiobook
cast
the
origins
of
our
discontents
by
isabel
wilkerson
excellent
and
the
last
one
I
want
to
talk
about
is
hustle
harder,
hustle,
smarter
by
curtis,
50
cent,
jackson
awesome.
I
just
really
like
his
whole
approach
and
how
he
talked
about
business
and
it's
a
whole
personal
philosophy.
A
That
was
just
great.
So,
yes,
he
is
a
rapper.
If
you
do
not
know-
and
I
just
really
enjoyed
it
and
he
does
read
it
himself-
I'm.
B
So
before
we
wrap
up,
I
did
want
to
also
mention
that
obviously
june
is
audiobook
month,
but
it's
also
pride
month,
and
so,
if
you're
also
looking
for
some
great
audio
books,
I
did
bring
in
wow.
No
thank
you
by
samantha
irby.
She
is
fantastic
author.
If
you,
you
want
to
check
her
out
on
youtube,
she
does
wonderful
interviews,
but
she
is
out
loud
laughter
like
very
much
like
tiffany
haddish.
She
has
some
great
stuff,
so
this
is
really
a
great
one
to
listen
to
and
then
gabby
riviera.
B
She
has
a
new
one
out
for
your
young
adults.
She
wrote
just
take
a
minute.
B
This
one's
called
her
new
one's
called
julia
takes
the
breath
and
she
is
her.
Last
book
was
highly
acclaimed.
Take
a
breath
was
the
call
that
was
the
name
of
it,
but
check
her
out
for
the
young,
adult
ones,
she's
a
fantastic
latina
author,
and
then
you
mentioned
james
baldwin.
We
kind
of
talked
about,
but
genevieve's
giavanni's
room
is
a
short
novel
by
james
baldwin,
excellent
book
really
short,
but
it
just
talks
about
american
going
to
paris
and
his
relationship
with
man
and
woman.
A
Classic
started
that
james
baldwin
title
in
libby,
so
I
just
I'm
only
six
minutes
in,
but
that's
what
I'm
still
getting
over
it
from
the
last
audiobook.
