From YouTube: When to get a tested for COVID 19 and when not to
Description
Staying home and etting tested when you have symptoms of COVID-19 is one of the important defences we have in stopping the spread of the virus alongside handwashing, social distancing and wearing face coverings.
In this video Fiona Phillips, our Assistant Director for Public Health offers advice on when to get tested.
The symptoms of Coronavirus are:
- A dry persistant cough
- A high temperature
- A change of or loss of sense of taste or smell.
A
So
if
you
have
symptoms
of
coronavirus,
a
new
persistent
cough,
a
high
temperature
or
a
change
to
your
sense
of
taste
or
smell,
you
should
arrange
to
have
a
covert
test
as
soon
as
possible,
and
you
should
self-isolate
straight
away
whilst
waiting
for
the
result.
The
rest
of
your
household
will
also
need
to
self-isolate.
A
If
your
test
comes
back
negative,
you
and
your
family
can
stop
your
self-isolation
and
when
you're
well
enough
go
back
to
work
or
school.
If
your
test
result
comes
back
as
positive,
you
will
need
to
continue
to
self-isolate
for
a
period
of
10
days
from
when
your
symptoms
started.
Your
household
contacts
need
to
isolate
for
14
days.
