Our city has a rich history, from Viking invasions and Civil War sieges, to industrial growth and changing industries. 2020 has brought a new challenge to the forefront – unlike any other before.

We must keep infection rates low, but pioneer new approaches so residents and visitors can once again enjoy the city safely. To begin, there are changes being made through the city to help us all adapt and to start planning York’s future as a sustainable, inclusive place to live and work.

As more businesses reopen from Monday we’ve been working on plans so people can visit safely.

Please continue to follow government advice, stay safe, keep socially distant and keep it local.

Our city has a colorful history from Viking invasions and civil war sieges to world war ii and twenty20 brings a new challenge to our doorstep. Unlike any other before and literally making history kovat 19 is affected as all threatening our health, our businesses and our jobs, but we will come back stronger, just like we've done before it's time to get back on our feet to shop, relax, explore and work while keeping infection rates low.

To do that, though, we've all got to adapt, so let's show them how it's done. Firstly, let's be safe, we're busy making changes to public spaces.

But it won't be much good if we don't all do our bit. That means, if you can't walk or cycle in wear, face coverings to make traveling on public transport safer for all and if you drive try and park a little further out, let's be welcoming we're working on the city center. First then rolling out plans across the city so be patient and show your support for local businesses while they adapt.

Finally, let's be considerate.

Medieval town planners didn't design our streets for social distancing, but we can all explore safely by following new Wang way and keep left systems respecting public loos and by washing our hands regularly.

Our city has over 2,000 years experience reinventing itself and together we will do it again: protecting lives and livelihoods. So, let's be safe. Let's be welcoming, let's be considerate, let's be Yorke, find out more and share your thoughts at our big conversation.
