A
There
are
seven
hundred
pieces
of
play
equipment
in
fifty
play
areas
across
the
city
and
it's
my
job
to
make
sure
they're,
attractive,
safe
and
ready
for
daily
use,
I
inspect
each
item
once
a
week,
52
weeks
a
year
if
a
springy
has
lost
its
spring
or
a
seat
needs
replacing
on
a
swing
I.
Do
that
work
to
make
it
fit
for
purpose
again.
A
A
Local
residents
are
now
more
involved
than
ever.
The
smarter
York
team
have
helped
rally
the
community
to
assist
with
the
upkeep
of
areas
like
sovereign
Park,
Nelson's,
Lane
and
Glen
gardens.
They've
painted
tied
pieces
of
play,
equipment,
litter,
picked
and
also
helped
source
replacement
units
for
their
own
play
areas.
A
Our
inspection
records
have
to
be
kept
for
21
years
and
we've
developed
a
better,
faster
way
of
doing
this,
we're
rolling
out
a
new
electronic
system
to
capture
an
inspection
data
in
real
time
and
send
it
directly
to
the
database.
This
will
reduce
my
office
space
time
and
allow
me
and
my
colleagues
to
access
the
information
we
need
straightaway.
