Opening Remarks - Sabree Blackmon, Technical Lead, Ferrous Systems GmBH; Chris Aniszczyk, CTO, Cloud Native Computing Foundation
A
All
right,
I
think
that
might
be
our
cue
hello
good
morning,
awesome
good
morning:
everybody,
it
is
3
30
a.m,
for
both
ian
and
chris,
so
very,
very
good
morning
from
us
anyway.
Welcome.
Thank
you
for
coming.
This
is
the
inaugural,
the
first
cloud
native
rust
day
so
born
through
tweet,
formed
by
a
lot
of
hard
work
by
the
program
committee
and
the
cncf,
so
just
want
to
quickly
sort
of
introduce
the
conference.
A
Why
are
we
here
and
and
really
just
kick-start
off
to
what
I
think
will
be
a
very,
very
cool
day,
I'm
looking
forward
to
all
the
talks
and
it's
going
to
be
awesome
so
anyway,
if
you
don't
know
already,
I'm
spree
blackman,
I'm
at
heavy
packets,
basically
everywhere
I
work
for
critical
section,
which
is
a
subsidiary
of
fair
systems,
really
focused
on
mission
and
safety,
critical,
rust
and
making
rust
sort
of
you
know
the
premier
language
for
for
some
of
those
for
those
some
of
those
projects
and
joined
by
chris.
B
In
the
morning,
but
hey
chris
santa
anazik,
I
have
the
fun
job
of
serving
as
cto
of
the
quantitative
computing
foundation,
ensuring
that
our
projects
are
healthy
and
well
supported.
You
know
I
want
to
thank
sabri
for
kind
of
spearheading.
This
idea,
given
kind
of
the
adoption
of
rust
in
the
cncf
ecosystem,
is
now
our
second
most
popular
programming
language
for
cncf
projects
behind
the
obviously
popular
golang
so
excited
to
be
here
today.
So
kicking
it
back
to
you,
sabri.
A
Awesome
yeah,
it's
kind
of
to
think
that
russ
is
the
number
two
language
in
2021
is
kind
of
blowing
my
mind
a
little
bit
so,
but
that
kind
of
makes
this
the
correct
time.
I
think,
to
to
to
start
a
conference
like
this,
so
make
this
really
brief.
Why
are
we
here?
I
think
you
know
rust,
is
quickly
becoming
a
foundational
language,
obviously,
for
for
cloud
and
a
lot
of
internet
infrastructure,
there
are
a
lot
of
technical
reasons
for
that
you
know:
safety,
there's
strong
patterns,
performance,
energy
efficiency.
A
So
I
won't
get
into
that
here,
but
while
people
discover
trust
because
of
those
things,
they
often
stay
for
the
community
or
they
stay
because
rust
as
a
project
is
really
focused
on
developer
productivity
and
just
developer
health
in
general,
and
making
sure
that
the
experience
for
anyone
who
has
to
work
with
us
on
a
daily
basis
is
a
good
one,
and
so
you
know
we
have
all
of
us
come
from
diverse
personal
and
professional
backgrounds,
yet
we're
really
building
a
programming
language
to
fulfill
a
pretty
diverse
set
of
needs.
A
So
today,
we're
kind
of
here
talk
about
rust
in
the
context
of
cloud
and
internet
internet
infrastructure,
we'll
see
some
more
hardware
focused
source
hardware-centric
talks.
Today,
some
security-centric
talks
today
microservices
and
you
know
everything
that
sort
of
falls
under
the
umbrella
under
of
the
cncf
and
really
to
provide
a
rust-centric
context
for
the
rest
of
kukan,
which
I
hope
everyone
is
also
looking
around
to
that's.
Gonna,
be
a
lot
of
fun.
A
So
my
goal
personally,
my
personal
goal
at
the
end
of
the
conference
is
that
you
will
leave
with
enough
information
and
enough
context
to
consider
rust
for
your
next
project,
whether
it's
a
tool,
whether
it's
an
application,
whatever
you're
doing
in
the
context
of
cloud
to
consider
rest-
and
hopefully
this
you
know
the
next
couple
of
hours-
will
provide
you
with
some
good
context
there.
There
is
a
workshop
as
well.
A
I
don't
know
what
time
that
starts
not
central
time.
So,
look
at
the
schedule
later,
and
that
is
you
know
if
you
want
a
bit
more
in-depth
sort
of
overview
of
rust
in
the
context
of
cloud
cloud
native,
definitely
join
up
with
that.
So
I
have
so.
Finally,
you
know,
I
said
thanks
to
the
cncf
for
putting
on
and
sponsoring
this
event,
thanks
to
the
rest
of
the
program
committee,
we're
going
to
spend,
I
think,
literally
across
the
world,
at
this.
A
At
this
point
you
know
representation
from
europe,
canada,
the
u.s
africa
all
over
the
place,
which
is
great
and
then,
of
course,
to
our
sponsors.
That's
all
I
have
you
have
anything
else,
chris.
B
Just
want
to
thank
you,
you
know
personally,
for
helping
kind
of
spearhead
this
idea
and
make
this
happen
in
time.
Kubecon,
europe,
you
know
this
is
truly
about.
You
know
knowledge
sharing
of
how
rustling
is
used
throughout
the
cloud
native
ecosystem.
B
I
also
want
to
thank
the
other
program
committee
members
like
anna
isabelle,
daniel
sonia
hughes,
and
then
maybe
someone
else
that
I'm
forgetting
given
the
hour
today,
but
truly
look
forward
to
seeing
everyone
and
sharing
the
knowledge
about
how
russ
landing
is
used
in
the
cncf
and
cloud
native
ecosystem.
So
thank
you
sabri
again,.
A
Yep
last
remark:
there
is
a
code
of
conduct.
I
would
recommend
you
read
it
over
if
you
haven't
already.
If
you
have
any
issues
technical
issues,
any
kind
of
questions
feel
free
to
reach
out.
On
slack.
A
There
is
a
rust
channel,
a
cloud
native
rust
day
channel
on
slack
when
you
make
sure
it
is
the
yeah.
So
it
is
number
three
dash
cloud
native
dash
rest
day
dash
day.
Excuse
me:
do
a
search
for
rust,
it'll
come
up.
Please
join
that
for
just
like
long-form
communication.
I
think
that'll
be
open
and
around
for
at
least
a
few
weeks
after
the
conference
is
done
so
that'll
be
a
great
place
to
sort
of
congregate.
Ask
cloud
specific
questions
and
stuff
like
that.
Yeah!
A
That's
all
I
have
so
thank
everybody
and
let's
have
a
great
conference.
