Description
Opening Remarks - Tom Kivlin, Vodafone
A
Okay,
good
morning,
everybody
at
last
welcome
to
valencia.
My
name
is
tom
kivlin,
I'm
a
principal
cloud
architect
at
vodafone
and
I'm
just
going
to
do
an
overview
of
a
few
things
and
a
bit
of
audience
participation.
Hopefully,
it'll
work
for
the
people
in
the
room
and
on
the
live
stream,
so
hello
to
you
on
the
live
stream.
Thank
you
for
joining
us
for
those
of
you
who
might
be
watching
and
joining
us
later
today,
we're
in
pavilion
3
room
e,
which
is
on
level
two.
A
We've
got
a
couple
of
breaks
during
the
day
one
this
morning,
one
this
afternoon
and
they
will
be
taking
place
in
the
foyers
outside
here.
Also,
lunch
is
shared
with
the
other
colo
events
again
outside
here
and
then
later
on.
We've
got
a
happy
hour,
an
event
reception
and
priyanka.
The
the
leader
of
the
cncf
will
be
joining
us.
There
there's
a
slack
channel
where
all
attendees
can
join
and
ask
questions.
A
We've
got
some
people
from
the
programme
committee
on
there
who
will
help
corral
those
questions
and
help
them
get
answered
for
those
of
you
who
haven't
seen
the
signs
around
there's
some
event.
Wi-Fi
there's
a
few
of
us
have
found
you
need
to
try
a
few
times
potentially
to
get
there.
A
I
won't
go
through
the
whole
schedule
because
we're
running
a
few
minutes
late,
but
there's
some
amazing
looking
sessions
going
on
the
there's,
a
there's,
a
micro
survey
that's
been
launched
by
the
cncf,
which
is
focused
on
telcos,
so
whether
you're,
an
operator
or
vendor
or
someone
else
in
the
ecosystem.
A
I'd
strongly
urge
you
to
go
and
take
that
survey
and
then
there's
also
this
week
on
wednesday.
I
believe
there's
going
to
be
the
launch
of
the
new
cnf
certification
program,
so
today,
soft
launch,
but
on
wednesday
there'll
be
an
official
announcement
about
that
which
should
be
quite
exciting.
A
So
now
I
want
to
get
into
some
audience
participation
so
for
all
all
of
you,
whether
you're
in
the
room
or
online.
If
you
go
to
ahaslides.com
cn
telco
day
or
scan
this
qr
code,
then
I
can
get
you
to
answer
some
questions
and
rather
than
doing
a
show
of
hands
which
can
only
be
for
those
in
the
room
we'll
get
some
some
participation
from
everyone
who's
online.
A
A
So
apologies
for
starting
late
this
morning
we
had
a
couple
of
technical
issues.
I
hope
those
of
you
on
the
live
stream,
the
the
slides,
look,
okay,
there's
a
potential
that
the
colors
are
a
bit
funny
right.
So
the
first
question
that
I'd
like
to
ask
is:
who
are
you
representing?
So
I'd
normally
like
to
start
by
asking
you
know
who's
here
from
an
operator
who's
here
from
a
vendor
who's
here
from
a
you
know,
a
telco
services,
consumer
or
someone
else.
A
You
know
you
might
just
be
interested
in
telco
stuff
or
you
might
be.
You
know
from
a
an
analyst
firm
or
something
so
I
have
to
unlock
it.
There
we
go
so.
A
And
a
nearly
equal
split
between
operators
and
vendors-
that's
interesting.
Quite
a
lot
of
someone
else
would
be
interested
to
find
out
who
that
is
during
the
day.
Next
question
is
where
you've
come
from,
so
where
in
the
world,
it's
up
to
you,
how
specific
you
want
to
be.
A
A
Okay,
so
then
the
the
next
one
is
so
today
we've
got
loads
of
talks
about
cloud
native,
telco
applications,
cloud
native,
telco
platforms.
You
know
very
detailed
technology
sessions.
You
know
some
really
good.
Looking
lightning
talks
it'd
be
good
to
understand
people's
level
of
familiarity
with
the
various
topics
that
were
being
talked
about
today,
and
then
we
can
review
that
at
the
end
of
the
day,
and
we
can
see
you
know
the
people,
you
know
feeling
that
they've
got
something
from
the
day,
so
this
gives
us.
Let
me
unlock
it
again.
A
A
Okay,
so
the
last
question
I
think,
is
to
get
people's
input
on
what
is
a
cloud
native
network
function,
so
those
of
you
have
been
around
the
arena
for
a
while
will
know
that.
That's
a
question
that
probably
takes
quite
a
lot
of
discussion
to
answer.
A
A
A
Okay,
some
interesting
interesting,
interesting
answers
there
good
right
well
anyway,
so
that's
good
to
get
that
input.
So
thank
you
for
that.
Like
I
said
this
was
just
a
welcome
session.
I
think
up
next
in
eight
minutes,
we'll
have
the
first
session
of
the
day,
so
until
then
there's
some
drinks
outside
and
we
should
be
ready
to
go
in
in
eight
minutes.
Thank
you
very
much
have
a
good
day.
