A
What
an
honor
to
be
here
today
to
welcome
you
to
kubecon
eu
virtual
to
welcome
you
to
this
community.
We
call
home
I've
been
involved
with
the
cncf
ecosystem
since
the
early
days
in
2016.,
first
working
on
the
open
tracing
project
as
a
contributor
and
then
serving
on
the
governing
board
to
help
the
foundation
operate,
and
now
I'm
here
to
serve
as
the
new
general
manager.
A
I
gotta
say
what
a
time
to
take
a
new
job.
From
the
time
I
accepted
the
offer
to
when
I
started
working
the
whole
world
had
changed.
There
was
a
pandemic
raging
across
the
world
race.
Relations
in
the
us
was
at
an
all-time
low.
There
were
cracks
deepening
into
fissures
everywhere,
great
timing.
Indeed.
A
Well,
you
know
jokes
aside,
I
actually
do
think
it's
a
great
time
to
join
cncf
from
the
day
I
got
involved
to
now.
The
cloud
native
ecosystem
has
become
the
leader
of
end
user,
driven
open
source,
backed
by
a
foundation
of
doers
builders,
architects,
enablers,
all
these
people
coming
together
and
it
has
seen
unprecedented
success.
A
A
A
A
A
The
crown
jewel
in
this
entire
ecosystem
is
the
largest
end
user
community
enjoyed
by
any
open
source
foundation
in
the
world,
and
I
am
so
proud
of
that.
Thank
you
end
users
for
demonstrating
your
trust
by
joining
us
in
large
numbers
with
144
end
user
members
and
counting
speaking
of
and
counting.
I
would
like
to
welcome
spd
bank
from
china
for
joining
us
today.
As
our
latest
gold
and
user
member
svd
bank
is
headquartered
in
shanghai
and
has
branches
in
hong
kong,
singapore,
london.
A
It
is
the
first
bank
from
china
to
join
cncf's
end
user
community
because
they
are
active
participants
in
the
cncf
financial
services
user
group.
We
look
forward
to
collaborating
with
sbd
bank
to
address
security,
regulatory
and
compliance
related
questions
that
financial
institutions
face
when
using
cloud
native
platforms.
Welcome
spd
in
addition
to
joining
us
as
members.
Thank
you
end
users
for
trusting
us
with
your
amazing
project
contributions
such
as
backstage
from
spotify
tremors
from
wayfair
envoy
from
lyft
jaeger
from
uber.
A
A
These
are
the
documentation,
writers,
the
event,
organizers,
the
storytellers,
the
educators
board
members
foundation,
staff
speaking
of
foundation,
staff,
I'd
like
to
especially
call
out
dan
khan.
He
worked
tirelessly
for
the
last
four
years
as
executive
director
to
build
this
amazing
community
that
we
are
all
part
of
today.
Thank
you
dad.
A
A
The
inclusive
and
open
governance
ensures
diverse
contributions,
are
accepted
and
encouraged.
We
didn't
get
to
97
000
contributors
and
177
countries
just
like
that.
The
long-standing
conformance
programs
and
trademark
management
have
given
end
users
the
confidence
to
use
the
technologies
without
fear.
A
All
this
achievement
and
hard
work
has
set
us
up
for
the
next
era
of
cloud
native.
Let's
talk
about
the
trends
we
will
see
with
the
world
ablaze
in
a
metaphorical
fire.
It
has
turned
to
technology
to
survive
in
light
of
the
pandemic.
More
and
more
workflows
are
moving
online.
More
and
more
information
is
accessed.
Online
entertainment
is
also
happening
online,
and
what
that
means
is
that
the
world
needs
just
that
much
more
compute
power
and
with
that
comes
the
need
for
technologies
built
on
cloud
native
principles
as
the
reliance
on
these
technologies
grows.
A
Security
needs
are
getting
more
complex,
enter
devsecops,
devsecops
does
for
security.
What
devops
did
for
operators
shift
it
left
to
bake
it
into
the
application.
Developer's
workflow
xero
trust
security
practices
are
also
on
the
rise,
and
our
own
spiffy
project
is
useful
as
a
secure
production,
identity
framework
for
everybody,
just
like
the
world
of
software,
is
changing.
A
The
world
of
devices
is
changing
as
well.
There's
a
proliferation
of
edge
and
iot
devices.
There
are
cell
phones
in
every
hand
and
5g
is
on
the
way.
Smart
machines
are
getting
more
and
more
popular,
whether
it's
smart
trucks,
cars
desks,
fridges,
ovens,
you
name
it
kubernetes
is
here
to
support
that
move.
A
Along
with
all
these
technology
trends,
I
believe
that
the
cultural
wave
of
end
user,
driven
open
source
will
continue
to
gain
steam
over
the
next
few
years
at
the
forefront
of
change
and
online
consumption
patterns.
These
end
user
companies
will
drive
innovation
and
continue
to
enable
excellence
in
cloud.
New
native
cncf
specifically
has
a
few
plans
to
enable
this
future
we're
doing
a
lot
of
boring
work,
building
structure
processes
to
do
our
job
efficiently.
A
A
A
I
believe
online
events
this
year
will
bring
attendees
from
a
much
richer
cross-section
of
society,
folks
who
couldn't
attend
before
who
couldn't
afford
to
travel,
because,
of
course,
family
health
can
all
attend.
I
know
there's
many
of
you
listening
to
this
right
now
in
the
future,
there
will
always
be
a
virtual
component
to
our
events
for
folks
interested
in
open
source.
Our
diversity
scholarships
are
ongoing.
We
offer
internships
to
students
to
work
on
our
projects
and,
last
but
not
least,
our
training
programs
provide
courses
and
certifications
to
take
careers
to
the
next
level.
A
A
We
will
help
beat
corona
with
a
competitive
rush,
as
is
happening
today
with
linux
foundation,
public
health
and
contact
racing
with
changing
racially
charged
language
inside
code
and
with
outside
the
foundation
with
vaccines.
The
work
is
ongoing
and
the
road
is
long,
but
we
will
fight
on
what
we
need
from
each
other.
Today
is
a
commitment,
a
commitment
to
cloud
native,
a
commitment
to
open
source,
be
here,
stay
with
us
big
giants
and
small
upstarts.
A
All
working
on
solutions
together,
open
source
development
enables
exactly
the
kind
of
innovation
where
the
best
ideas
win,
no
matter
where
they
come
from,
as
we
witnessed
with
the
growth
of
open
source.
A
community
of
excellence
will
always
be
stronger
than
a
silo
of
power.
Silos
topple
communities
are
resilient,
distributed
and
constantly
evolving.
A
I
am
so
thrilled.
I
had
the
opportunity
to
speak
with
you
today.
Our
collective
strength
is
as
a
foundation
of
doers
and
everybody
has
a
role.
Your
job
is
important,
whether
you're
a
documentation,
writer
program
manager,
project,
maintainer,
application,
developer,
open
source
lawyer
student
learner.
Every
contribution
has
value
across
the
world.
