we've
noticed
over
time

is
the
the
problem
with
the
stuff
that
we're
engaged
with
at
our
level.
How
do
we
get
changes
to
effect
inside
of
our
organization?
Right?
That's
that's
a
hard
thing
to
do
for
engineers
for
sres.
For
for
anybody,
that's
getting
started
in
these
kind
of
organizations.

are
we
have

certain
way
that
our
brains
work,
it's
just
a
fact
and
when
I
first
started
doing
talking
to
people
or
trying
to
influence
people
as
an
engineer,
a
developer
coming
into
this
kind
of
a
role,
I
thought:
what
do
we
do?
We
researched
like
we
do
everything
else
right.
New
technology
dig
into
it
find
out
about
it
start
digging
around
I
did
the
same
thing
for
this
role.

what's
the
first
thing,
storytelling,
everybody
probably
has
been
told
stories,
their
whole
life,
so
it's
kind
of
silly
to
sit
down
and
say
what's
storytelling,
but
I
think
it
is
good
to
understand
where
it
came
from
and
why
we
use
these
things
subconsciously
through
time
to
teach
right.
That's
all
it
is,
is
teaching
the
best.
Storytellers
tend
to
be
these
really
old,
guys
that
sit
at
barber
shops,
your
grandma
things
that
they
tell
you
about
from
the
past
a
lot
of
these
stories.
A
They
just
don't
want
the
kids
playing
in
the
hole,
because
there's
a
snake
that
lives
down
there,
that
kind
of
stuff
in
American
Indians.
They
love
to
tell
stories
about
the
woods
and
the
Bears,
and
things
like
that.
So
people
don't
go
out
there
and
try
to
pet
a
bear
when
they're
really
little
right,
it's
going
to
get
you
killed.
These
are
things
that
they
want
to
imprint
on
their
mind
and
they
pass
them
down
through
time.
So
everybody
keeps
doing
that.

When
we
have
a
chance
to
talk
to
somebody
to
present
to
somebody
to
to
influence
somebody,
we
tend
to
forget
really
quickly
how
it
really
works
in
life.
So
when
you
came
to
work
yesterday
or
whatever
day
this
week,
maybe
you
biked
to
bike
to
your
work
and
on
the
way
to
work
you
almost
got
hit
by
a
truck.

Then
you
get
into
a
position
like
this,
where
you
get
a
chance
to
influence
somebody
in
a
a
meeting
at
work
or
whatever
or
a
presentation
in
front
of
people
and
all
of
a
sudden,
you're
standing
here
in
front
of
this,
and
you
don't
move,
and
you
start
acting
like
we're
just
talking
at
you.
I
may
not
even
look
at
you.
Everything
seems
to
change
right.
It's
really
weird
how
people
transform
when
they
get
this
kind
of
an
opportunity
to
influence
somebody.
So
what
I
want
to
say
here?

always
a
conversation,
don't
forget
that
when
you
get
up
here
right

each
one
of
you

I'm
engaging

look

them
want

that.

you
watching

wreck,
it's
hard

look

you're

distract

super
important.

a
lot
of
people
don't
think
about
this.
You've
invested
now,
roughly
a
half
hour
if
I'm

some
technical

But
a
half
hour
of
your
time,
I,
don't
know
what
your
time's
worth
but
say
it's
a
hundred
bucks.
You
know
just
do
the
math
so
how
much
time
did
I
spend
preparing
for
you.

to
go
influence
somebody
you
wonder
why
it
doesn't
go
very
well
in
the
meeting
or
why
you
didn't
get
a
chance
to
get
your
message
across
if
you
spent

over

doing
your
slides
before
you
got
to
the
session,
there's
something
a
little
bit
wrong
with

formula

time
I
ever
gave

kind

talk.

put
you

that
you'll
be
good
at
it.
You
know
thanks
so
talk
about
stress
levels
going
up
right,
because
this
is
not
my
area.
It's
like
asking
you
to
present
on
something.
You
know
nothing
about.
You
think
right
so
I
said:
okay
sit
down,
think
about
it.
Basically,
the
outline
you're
looking
at
here
is
what
I
came
up
with.
It
took
a
little
bit.

spent,
probably
a
better
part
of
three
weeks
completely
focused
on
that
I
mean
really
three
weeks
worth
of
time
across
the
month
that
I
was
working
on
it.
That's
insane
that's
a
lot
of
hours
to
put
into
a
talk,
but
that
man
I
stood
up
there.
I
could
talk
like
I
am
now
I
could
tell
you
about
it.
I
understand
where
we're
going.
I
know
what's
coming
next,
I
can
look
at
an
image
and
it
triggers
a
three
four
stories.
I
can
tell
you,
depending
upon
who's
in
my
audience
right.

want
to
walk
away

to
hang
up
the
phone
and
leave
it's
just
stupid

It's
wasting
your
time,
your
time's,
valuable,
okay,
that's

first
part
behind
the
storytelling.
The
second
part,

Not
Your
Brains

certain
things
we
can
trigger
that
are
going
to
make.
You
remember
what
you
saw
one
of
the
first
things
you
have
to
understand.
You
probably
heard
it
before,
but
you
know
I
think
this
time
is
getting
shorter.

when
I
did
it
probably
about
10
years
ago.

kids

watch
what
they

with
YouTube.
You
know
video
after
video,
after
video
and
fast
forward
and
jump
in
pieces
in
Netflix
and
things
like
that.
They
don't
watch
movies
like
we
do,
takes
10-15
minutes
for
a
plot
of
a
movie
to
be
set
down
for
you
to
enjoy
the
hill.
The
whole
story,
the
rest
of
the
way
for
an
hour
and
a
half
my
son's

like
if
it
isn't
inside
of
a
minute.

goes
this
movie
sucks.
You
know,
that's
not
fair.

what
the

going
to
be
about

maybe
you

at

beginning

watch

critiquing
somebody
else
and
I'm
also
able
to
pick
up
things
for
myself
and
I'm
also
able
to
learn
from

examples

I've
been
doing
this
for

12,

years
now,
so
getting
pretty
good

it,

taught
at
the
University
seven
years
before
that
that
was
the
basis,
so
maybe
I'm
quite
far
down
the
road,
but
I
started
where
you're

in
the
beginning
too,
if
you're
not
a
talker

it's
that
simple.
You
just
got
to
learn
from
everything
around
you
and
use
these
to
your
advantage.

eliminated

stuff,

in
the
corner
for
the
little
girls

want

get
their

years

was
there

so

said

don't
have

worry

Amazon's
Googles.
You
need
to
worry
about
the
barbershop,
because
these
guys
did
this
there's
now
1300
across
the
U.S
and
Canada,
and
they
made
1.4
billion
dollars.

domain

keep
an
eye
on

they're

and
