Description
In DDEV-Local v1.6.0, we introduced NFS mounting to really speed things up over standard Docker mounting. The best part is that it only takes a three-step process on macOS.

A
Hi,
my
name
is
Randy
Fey
I
work
on
D,
Day,
local
for
drug
and
I
want
to
show
you
the
new
NFS
mounting
feature
on
Mac
OS.
As
you
can
see
from
this
chart,
it
has
some
real
advantages.
A
Drupal
8
install
with
just
the
normal
mount
comes
in
at
over
two
minutes
about
220,
something
like
that
and
with
the
NFS
mount
it
comes
in
at
under
a
minute.
It's
very
nice.
It's
even
faster
than
the
experimental
web
cache
approach
that
we
introduced
back
in
December,
so
I
think
you'll
like
it.
A
So,
let's
give
it
a
shot.
So
we
do
need
to
read
the
instructions
on
this,
because
there
is
some
setup
that
has
to
be
done
on
the
host
side,
so
we're
just
gonna,
Google
deed
of
Docs,
and
then
here
when
we
get
to
the
docks,
we're
just
gonna
search
for
NFS
and
we'll
go
with
the
Mac
OS
NFS
set
up
for
this
one,
and
you
see
that
we
have
two
things
that
we
do
have
to
do
here.
We
have
to
set
up,
and
at
least
on
Mojave
we
have
to
give
access
for
our
terminal
app.
A
So
we're
going
to
do
that
right
now
go
to
the
security
and
privacy
in
the
Preferences
and
full
disk
access.
We
have
to
choose
and
then
click
the
link
give
the
password
and
then
we
have
to
add
our
terminal
app,
which
I
use
item
2,
but
we
have
to
use
that
give
the
terminal
app
what's
called
full
disk
access.
This
is
new
in
Mojave,
but
that's
what
we
have
to
do
here
and
that's
the
first
step
and
I'm
going
to
say
quit
now
and
then
we
can
open
it
and
we'll
be
ready
to
start
again.
A
A
So
we'll
run
it,
and
here
we
go,
it
stops
the
DT
of
projects
and
it
will
then
set
up
the
Etsy
exports
which,
by
the
way
we
couldn't
have
done
unless
we
gave
I
term
full
disk
access.
It
sets
up
the
XD
exports
and
then
it
restarts
NFS
D.
So
now
we
can
use
the
show,
mat
show
mount
command
and
it
shows
that
we
are
in
fact
exporting
this
last
users
area
and
we
can
go
into
d8
composer
now
and
I'm
going
to
do
it
set
up
this
thing
to
work.
A
I'll
do
a
deed
of
debug
NFS
mount,
which
is
just
a
debug
command
to
see
it
benefits
it's
working
and
we
can
now
just
do
it.
D
dev
start.
We
have
NFS
mounted
here,
and
this
will
start
up
and
it
will
mount
with
NFS
and
it
will
be
fast.
So
it's
it's
a
pretty
nice
setup.
It's
easy
enough
to
do,
and
here
we
are
I'm
gonna,
just
dive
SSH
in
there
to
show
you
what
the
mount
looks
like
when
it's
set
up
with
NFS,
so
there
to
see
that
:
on
the
front
of
the
filesystem.
A
Okay,
you
don't
actually
have
to
watch
the
rest
of
this
because
it's
just
showing
the
performance
comparison
on
d8
installs
in
the
with
the
various
Mac
OS
setups,
the
Mac
OS
comparisons
that
I
did
here,
as
you
see
with
the
traditional
normal
mount.
It's
about
2,
minutes
and
20
seconds.
To
do
a
da
to
install
this
by
the
way
is
on
a
MacBook
Pro,
2017,
MacBook
Pro,
and
if
I
turn
on
NFS,
it's
less
than
a
minute
about
I,
don't
know
54
seconds
or
something
like
that.
A
A
A
B
A
A
A
A
A
A
A
A
And
start
all
over
again
from
scratch:
d-dave
RM
capital,
r
capital
o
delete
everything,
including
the
database,
and
doesn't
make
a
snapshot
here.
I'm
gonna
we're
gonna,
do
the
web
cache
enabled
one
and
it
doesn't
have
a
command
line
alternate
because
it
is
an
experimental
feature.
So
I'm
gonna
edit
the
config
dot
llamo.
Instead
of
using
the
data
of
config
command.
A
A
B
A
This
is
speeded
up
to,
as
you
can
see
by
the
timer
as
it
goes,
but
it's
about
a
minute
in
something
about
a
minute
and
18
minute,
19,
something
like
that.
So
that's
the
situation
and
I
hope
you'll
try
out
in
FS,
even
though
it
requires
some
configuration
on
your
host
and
I
know
that
we
wish
that
that
didn't
happen.
But
there
you
go.
Thank
you
very
much.
Thanks
for
listening.
