HR/VP's remarks during the "Europe in Danger" Event, that took place at the Solvay Library on 25 January 2022.
The strategic compass is a package for the action, not just analysis, but the recipe for action. The european union should be able to rescue citizens, for example, in a situation like we saw in afghanistan last summer, or intervene quickly in a crisis where violence is threatening the lives of civilians, not just training the armies of the others, but to put boots on the ground, and the u.s wants a stronger and more capable european defense to contribute to the global and transatlantic security.
What the americans tell us is yes, okay, don't talk act, don't talk act, please get on with it and help us to share the security to to burden the security burden. The speed at which the geopolitical context is changing, because this speed is so big that makes the case for action much more urgent and compelling all the threats that we are facing are intensifying and the capacity of individual member states to cope is insufficient and worst is declining.
