HR/VP Josep Borrell touches on key points on the agenda, ahead of the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence) on 15 November 2022.
Landscape of Europe is changing. We are facing challenges, that's evident. The whole continent is suffering the consequences of the war in Ukraine and we have to enhance and increase our defense policy, our common security and defense policy. We're going to study the cart. The coordinated annual review on defense is the landscape of the defense capabilities of the European armies altogether, which are our capabilities. What do we need to have more? How we can work better together? The card will be the guide for Advance on replenishing stocks and increasing our capabilities.
The European armies have to share how to be interoperable. They have to go together as much as possible to replenish their stocks. That's why, together with the commission, we have launched this initiative of joint procurement going to the defense industry and try to look for the better offers, all together, presenting a United capacity, a United request to the industry to optimize what we are doing and to get the better of our financial resources. This strategic Compass continues working. Today we will study operational scenarios.
