So
as
we
approach
our
five
year
anniversary,
let
me
take
you
for
a
quick
stroll
down
memory
lane
to
remember
some
of
the
key
moments
in
the
history
of
the
Yas
Community.
There's
been
a
lot
of
them,
quick
disclaimer.

following
story
is
my
perception
of
the
history
of
EOS,
based
on
my
own
experiences.
Your
opinion
about
these
events
may
be
different
from
mine.
That's
fine
enough
to
be
expected
and
actually
love
to
hear
from
other
community
members
about
your
memorable
moments
in
the
history
of
EOS,
the
Genesis
okay.
So,
let's
start
from
the
start,
the
Genesis
block
happened
in
June
of
2018
and
then
a
short.
A
Two
months
later,
the
community
was
first
drawn
together
for
the
first
EOS
Community
Conference
in
Seoul
Korea,
a
few
months
after
that
consensus
was
reached
within
the
network
and
the
EOS
user
agreement
was
signed
into
effect
by
the
leading
block
producers
on
chain,
the
community
bonded
by
passing
around
a
blockchain
torch
off
chain.
Our
top
blockchain
Scholars
were
meeting
up
all
around
the
world
for
a
series
of
great
hackathons
and
then
suddenly
Rex
joined
the
party.
A
This
resource
exchange
protocol
unlocked
nearly
uncontrollable
scalability
on
the
network
and
brought
about
unanticipated
consequences
that
eventually
had
to
be
dealt
with
by
October
2019.
The
community
held
its
second
EOS
Community
this
time
on
the
other
side
of
the
world
in
Rio
Brazil.
This
spark
reignited
collaboration
within
the
community
and
strengthened
bonds
within
the
EOS
ecosystem.
A
Shortly
after
the
node
operators
of
the
EOS
Network
would
encounter
a
situation
that
would
test
the
resiliency,
the
redundancy
and
the
capacity
of
the
network.
How
strong
is
the
EOS
Network?
Would
it
be
able
to
withstand
the
onslaught
of
an
army
of
CPU
miners?
The
Epic
unchain
battle
for
CPU
lasted
for
months.
It
was
a
grueling
battle
that
tested
many
parts
of
the
EOS
ecosystem.
All
at
once,
the
core
devs
worked
on
specific
blockchain
protocol
features
that
could
help
mitigate
these
attacks.
A
The
EOS
node
operators
were
tirelessly
to
strengthen
optimize
and
reorganize
the
structure
of
their
nodes
to
be
able
to
withstand
an
outrageous
number
of
transactions.
Eventually,
the
network
emerged
Victorious
against
the
onslaught
of
CPU
miners
now
able
to
process
over
100
million
transactions
per
day.
The
EOS
Network
welcomed
the
CPU
miners
to
have
some
fun
in
your
R
blocks
if
they
wanted
to
eventually
the
Ponzi
nomic
incentives
powering
the
CPU
miners
fizzled
out
and
the
once
loud
CPU
miners
left
quietly
Into,
the
Night,
the
EOS
Network.
A
Now
the
most
powerful,
robust
and
reliable
blockchain
Network
in
existence
was
ready
for
Mass
adoption,
but
another
challenge
was
on
the
horizon
and
this
time
it
would
not
be
technical
in
nature.
It
would
be
emotional,
it
would
be
political
and
it
would
lead
many
in
the
Eos
Community
to
accept
an
unfortunate
truth.
For
two
years,
the
community
waited
in
vain
for
Block,
one
to
fulfill
their
Promises
of
meaningly,
a
meaning
meaningfully
investing
into
the
EOS
ecosystem
due
to
being
gaslighted.
A
Community
initiatives
were
paused
or
sometimes
never
even
attempted
EOS
ecosystem
Builders
were
given
false
hopes
of
funding
strung
along
and
then
ghosted.
These
were
the
dark
ages
of
EOS.
Eventually,
though,
it
was
enough.
After
nearly
two
year
long
quiet
period
of
misguided
waiting,
the
EOS
Community
was
hungry
for
something
new
and
from
this
deep
and
widespread
desire
emerged,
the
EOS
Network
Foundation.

part

of
the
new
intro
tune
in
for
part

how
the
story
plays
out
with
the
EOS

wanted

tell

little
bit
about
what's

it,
I

it's
interesting
that
already
right
in
the
intro
you
hit
on
what
I
think
are.
You
know
two
core
key
things
about
the
EOS
reputation,
which
is
performance
and
reliability
and
with
version
four
of
leap
we
really
invested
in
in
sort
of
doubling
down
on
those
themes.

It
really
is
about
helping
node
operators
have
the
sort
of
monitoring
information
that
they
need,
so
that
they
can
keep
up
that
long
streak
of
running
reliably.
That
EOS
has
as
a
network
so
digging
in
like
what
are
the
features
here
on
the
improved
overall
node
performance
sort
of
theme,
we've
we've
we've
released
a
new
feature
which
is
read-only
transactions
which
allow
you
to
retrieve
information
efficiently.

this
is
read,
you
know
if
you
need
to
get
on-chain
data
efficiently
with
a
transaction
that
does
not
mutate
date
right,
that's
what
a
read-only
transaction
offers
and
the
reason
it's
in
efficient
is
because
we
we
spent
some
time
on
adding
multi-threading
features
here.
So
read-only
transaction
execution
happens
in
a
parallelized
way
and
is
taken
off
the
main
thread,
which
just
means
that
that
the
application
can
run
efficiently
doing
sort
of
it's
it's
hard
work
on.

We've
also
moved
reads
of
State
history
off
the
main
thread
as
well,
so
again
allowing
allowing
the
majority
of
transactions
to
execute
without
without
getting
blocked
by
read,
requests
coming
in
for
for
St
the
state
history,
API
requests
foreign
moving
into
improving
on
latency
and
faster
block
propagation.
The
the
two
key
things
here
are:
we,
we
implemented
a
lighter
validation
for
Block
relays.

So
you
know
greater
control
over
log
management,
better
access
to
node
monitoring
data
and
again,
if
you're,
not
a
node
operator.
Why
should
you
care?
Well,
because
those
are
the
things
that
allow
EOS
to
have
such
a
long
track
record
of
reliable
uptime
and
by
giving
even
more
flexibility
and
power
there
to
node
operators?
We
can
hopefully
keep
that
streak
going
specifically.

just
to
summarize
again
at
a
you
know,
high
level
of
what
is
in
a
leap
version
4.0.
We
focused
on
just
doubling
down
on
what
makes
EOS
awesome
performance
and
reliability
with
improved
node
performance,
reduced
latency

faster
block
propagation

more
data
control
and
visibility
for
node
operators.

prioritized
for
the
antelope
Coalition

separate
release.

work
hand
in
hand,
and
so
if
the
Coalition
assigns
work
and
then
that
work
is
then
complete
prior
to
a
release,
I
would
imagine
that
the
majority
of
the
time
it
would
be
done
in
tandem,
so

work,

relevant,
were

would
be
applied
to
I
guess
the
the
larger
Antelope
release.
However,
having
said
that,
there's
been
no
work
that
actually
goes
in
a
release
because
the
Coalition
hasn't
taken
on

disallow

alongside
the
racetrack,
they
can
construct
a
Speedway
which
is
a
starting
point
of

race
and

soon

more
features
into
racing

as
player

we
wanted
consumers
to
be
able
to
onboard
using
not
just
crypto

fiat
currency
and

in-app
purchases

credit
cards,
but
not
only
that.
We
wanted
them
also
to
be
able
to
extract
value
in
terms
of
fiat
currency.

we
created
an
ecosystem
which
allowed
players

basically
take
any
nft
any
digital
asset
in
Upland,
that
is
not
the
virtual
currency,
is
an
nft
and
those
can
be
traded
by
players
directly
for
US
dollars
if

do

that
is
a
very
important
kind
of
Distinction.
Basically,
at
the
click
of
a
button,
you
can
create
a
trustless
transaction
that
again,
in
the
background,
there's
nfts
and
and
basically
true
ownership
being
exchanged,
but
it
also
magically
kind
of
like
translates
to
US
Dollars
and
then
those
US
Dollars.

process
can
be
withdrawed
via
PayPal
or
some
other
mechanisms
to
your
personal
to
your
personal
balance,
and
this
whole
ecosystem
is
completely
regulatory
compliant
in
the
US
and
perfectly
legal

safe,

achieve
that
ecosystem.

of
the
requirement
was
that
Apex
cannot
be
considered
a
real
world
currency

It
can
be
only
considered
a
utility
virtual
currency
that
is
meant
for

be
traded
internally

Upland
ecosystem.

Opex

be
moved
from
player
to
player
within
the
Apple,
the
Upland
ecosystem,

cannot
be
traded
outside
of
Upland,
because

it
would

considered

real
currency,

this

all
of
the
ecosystem
that
we
built
together.

this
is
the
main
reason
why
Apex
is
not
tradable.

the
secondary

it

in

today's
ecosystem

it
as
a

can't

tradable
