Description
Fargo Public Schools - Board of Education Meeting - Live Broadcast - October 14, 2014
A
B
A
Opposed
no
recognition
of
the
audience
we
did
not
have
anybody
sign
up
to
address
the
board
tonight,
but
I
don't
want
to
assume
that
people
in
the
audience
chose
not
to
address
the
board.
So
with
that
said,
is
there
anybody
that
would
like
to
to
speak
to
the
board
tonight?
Okay,
very
good!
Well,
thank
you
for
joining
us.
Thank
you
for
everybody
watching
us
on
television
tonight
as
well,
which
moves
us
right
along
to
staff
reports
and
we
have
fva
we're
going
to
delay
a
little
bit
in
the
agenda.
C
Thank
you
very
much.
Typically
by
this
time
we
have
brought
together
the
calendar
committee
that
would
look
at
and
create
a
draft
of
the
1516
calendar.
That
then,
would
have
been
brought
to
you
as
a
board
for
your
review
and
approval,
but
because
there
is
a
a
measure
on
the
ballot
that
could
impact
our
calendar,
we
decided
to
wait
until
after
that
election
was
take,
has
taken
place
and
then
the
calendar
committee
will
come
together.
C
In
fact,
we
start
our
work
on
november
17th
so
that
we
can
begin
to
build
that
next
calendar
and
share
it
with
parents,
students
and
staff.
But
in
the
interim
I
was
asked
if
I
could
just
share
what
that
calendar
might
look
like
or
what
are
some
options
of
our
calendar
for
the
15
16
school
year.
So
in
front
of
you,
there
is
a
packet
and
on
the
front
of
the
packet.
What
I
did
is
just
pulled
for
you.
The
salient
points
from
the
statute
that
describe
what
must
be
in
our
calendar.
C
The
first
section
talks
about
which
days
that
we
may
not
be
in
session
is
listed
for
you
from
a
through
j.
The
second
section
talks
about
the
minimum
requirements
that
we
must
have
in
our
calendar
from
student
instructional
days,
which
are
175
days,
a
minimum
of
three
holidays,
a
minimum
of
two
parent-teacher
conference
days
and
a
minimum
of
two
professional
development
days.
C
That's
statute,
then,
underneath
that
on
that
front
page,
I
provided
you
language
from
the
contract
that
we
have
between
the
board
and
the
fargo
education
association
that
describes
our
contract
is
191
days.
So
that
goes
beyond
what's
in
statute
and
really
where
the
difference
lies,
are
we
have
five
holidays
that
are
in
contract
and
they
are
described
for
you
on
that
front
page.
C
We
have
four
days
for
parent-teacher
conferences
built
into
our
calendar
and
we
have
seven
professional
development
days
on
the
back
of
that
document,
or
first
page
or
page
two.
I
just
provided
for
you.
What
I
provide
the
calendar
committee
is
looking
at
what
are
those
holidays
and
when
do
they
occur
on
our
calendar,
and
I
provided
a
little
bit
longer
time
period
than
I
typically
do
with
the
calendar
committee
for
the
next
six
to
seven
years.
C
So
we
can
see
how
those
days
change
and
how
that
truly
impacts
the
calendars
that
are
put
together
by
that
committee,
then
what
I
have
provided
for
you
on
page
three
and
the
page
numbers
are
in
the
bottom
right
hand.
Corner
is
the
current
calendar
in
which
we
are
functioning
under
this
school
year
for
the
calendar.
C
The
the
dates
that
are
in
green
are
the
professional
development
days,
and
if
you
count
them,
you
would
get
the
seven
professional
development
days
that
we
have
the
orange
or
yellow
orange
color
are
those
holidays
either
the
ones
that
are
required
or
are
part
of
our
contract.
C
The
color
are.
There
are
storm
days
in
which
state
law
says
or
statute
says
we
must
build
two
storm
days
into
our
calendar
and
then
the
blue
days
are
the
student
contact
days,
and
if
you
count
all
that
up,
we
would
get
to
that
191
days.
So
I
provided
you
that
as
our
current
calendar,
then
I
ran
just
three.
What,
if
scenarios
for
you
using
that
same
setup,
basically
similar
professional
development
days
when
they
would
take
place
similar
length
of
holidays
similar
times
that
we
would
use
our
storm
days?
C
So,
on
page
four,
what
you
will
see
is
if
we
followed
the
same
pattern
in
which
we
typically
start
the
last
week
in
august.
What
would
that
do
to
our
calendar
and
what
you
could
see
is
we
would
start
on
august
25th,
and
we
would
end
with
a
last
student
contact
day
on
may
25th
again
the
same
parameters
that
were
applied
to
this
year's
calendar.
C
To
that
one,
then,
to
give
you
another
reference
point
on
page
five
said
what
if
we
start
like,
we
did
this
year,
one
week
before
the
holiday,
so
the
first
week
in
september,
so
our
first
student
contact
day
would
be
september
2nd.
When
would
we
end
the
school
year
for
students,
and
you
could
see
that
that
would
be
june
2nd
and
then,
finally,
what
I
ran
for
you
on
the
back
of
the
packet
or
page?
C
Six
is
what
if
we
started
after
the
holiday,
and
that
would
be
a
start
of
september
8th
for
our
students,
you
would
see
that
that
would
bring
us
to
june
7th
as
we
fulfill
that
contract
now,
I
did
not
make
any
changes
to
the
calendar.
I
applied
the
same
parameters
that
we
are
functioning
under
today,
but
certainly
our
calendar
committee
would
talk
about
that
and
they
would
build
the
calendar
that
they
would
bring
to
you
for
your
review
and
approval.
A
D
A
E
Thank
you.
You
also
have
a
packet
that
outlines
the
process
that
we're
using
for
strategic
planning
that
we're
engaged
in
this
year,
and
so
what
I've
done
is
put
together
all
the
information
that
I
have
at
this
point.
So
I
want
to
walk
you
through
that
and
then,
if
you
have
any
questions,
I
certainly
can
answer
them.
If
you
go
to
the
inside
page
and
start
out
with
background
information,
we
just
provide
a
little
bit
of
background
information
for
you
as
to
how
we've
gotten
to
where
we
are
today.
E
The
next
part
talks
about
elements
of
a
new
strategic
plan
and
as
we
develop
our
new
strategic
plan,
we'll
do
all
those
things
that
you
typically
would
do
with
a
strategic
plan,
we'll
talk
about
mission
and
vision
statements,
but
we
also
will
talk
about
something
called
core
values
right
now.
We
call
those
belief
statements
whether
they
we
continue
to
call
belief
statements
or
we
call
them
core
values.
Those
types
of
things
would
be
discussed
in
the
process,
and
then
we
actually
would
come
up
with
that
list
of
those
things.
E
E
When
it's
finished
so
under
each
standard,
we
would
put
together
strategic
directions
and
strategic
initiatives
within
each
standard,
and
so,
as
you
can
see,
I
put
down
for
you
what
each
standard
is
you're
familiar
with
these,
I
believe,
and
in
parentheses
it
gives
you
an
insight
as
to
our
current
strategic
plan
and
if
you
were
to
place
that
into
this
model,
where
would
that
fit,
and
so
those
items
that
are
in
parentheses,
give
you
that
sense
of
how
that
would
fit,
and
then
the
bulleted.
E
The
bulleted
item
is
what
that
standard
is
all
about,
so
that
you
get
a
sense
of
what
we're
talking
about.
So
then,
within
each
one
of
those
standard
areas
we
put
together
strategic
goals.
We
come
up
with
our
strategy
action
plan
for
those
goals
and
then
outcomes
and
results
measurements.
So
in
the
end,
you
would
have
under
each
standard
goals,
you
would
have
action
plans
and
then
you
would
have
what
we
would
use
to
realize
our
outcomes
and
results
and
how
we
would
measure
that
the
planning
process.
E
E
E
E
E
You
also
have
been
made
aware
of
another
event
that
we
have,
and
that
is
september
28th.
We
are
trying
to
bring
in
a
group
of
business
leaders
and
conduct
a
a
discussion
focus
group
with
those
business
leaders
on
the
morning
of
the
28th
and
we're
still
trying
to
figure
out
if
we're
going
to
get
enough
people
to
rsvp.
E
For
that
event,
and
so
we'll
let
you
know
so
far-
yeah
for
the
october
28th
so
yeah,
I
had
september,
I'm
sorry
october,
28th,
we've
already
moved
into
another
month,
so
I'm
a
little
bit
behind
so
october
28th
and
we'll
let
you
know,
but
I
know
that
many
of
you
have
rsvp'd
and
for
some
reason
we
had
to
cancel
that
we
would
let
you
know
so,
as
we
continue
to
walk
through
the
document.
E
The
committee
that
was
working
on
this
came
up
with
one
question
for
that
particular
area,
and
you
can
see
you
can
read
for
yourself
topic
standard
two
governance
and
leadership.
There
are
two
questions.
First,
one
would
be
what
feedback
would
you
provide?
The
board
of
education
regarding
the
governance
of
the
district?
E
Second
would
be:
what
feedback
would
you
provide
for
district
leadership
topic
three
standard,
three
teaching
and
assessing
for
learning
the
question
in
the
discussion
group
would
be:
what
skills
do
you
feel
are
critical
in
preparing
students
to
be
ready
for
college
or
workforce
question
two?
What
skills
should
be
emphasized
by
the
fargo
public
schools.
E
If
you
go
to
standard
four,
when
we
did
our
pre-survey
to
try
to
determine
what
questions
would
be,
one
of
the
items
that
was
scored
rather
low
or
came
in
lower
than
other
scores
was
fiscal
responsibility
by
the
district
was
ranked
low.
So
we
want
to
know
why,
and
so
we're
asking
the
question:
why
do
you
think
this
is
the
perception?
What
advice
would
you
give
the
fargo
public
schools
in
working
to
change
that
perception
and
then
number
two?
E
What
other
means
of
reporting
data
about
student
learning
and
school
effectiveness
should
be
used
by
the
school
district.
So
those
are
the
questions
that
have
been
developed
and
obviously,
within
a
two-hour
period
of
time.
You
can't
ask
eight
questions
and
have
discussion
in
that
period
of
time,
so
each
focus
group
will
have
five
questions.
E
So
they'll
get
some
of
the
questions.
All
groups
will
get
some
of
the
questions
where
there's
two
questions
within
a
standard
one
group
would
get
one
the
other
group
would
get
the
other.
So
that's
how
we're
going
to
structure
the
focus
group
discussions
and
again
you'll
get
information
on
how
we're
doing
that
and
how
that'll
play
out.
E
E
And
then
finally,
communications
plan,
similar
to
what
we
did
with
our
long-range
facilities
planning
process.
We
have
developed
a
website.
Anne
marie
has,
along
with
her
staff,
and
probably
tomorrow,
will
be
launching
that
website
and
so
any
documents
that
we
have
any
reports
that
we
do
any
kind
of
information
that
we
use
throughout
the
process
will
be
on
that
website
and
that
website
is
listed
there
for
you.
E
A
D
F
G
E
E
We
have
the
annual
report,
the
strategic
plan
plus
another
grouping
of
background
information
for
each
question,
so
people
will
have
some
background
information
that
they
can
review
before
they
come
in,
so
that
they
have
a
pretty
good
understanding
of
what
the
discussion
is
going
to
be.
A
Welcome
laura,
we
moved
you
to
other.
So
if
you
would
like
to
start
off
with
a
there,
you
go.
H
H
A
Thank
you,
laura
other
staff
reports,
ann
marie,
not
this
time.
Thank
you,
brock.
C
A
A
Those
in
favor
of
the
consent
agenda,
as
presented,
please
vote
by
saying
yes,
yes,
any
opposed
no
motion
carries
all
right
onto
the
business
section.
Gp
10
update
within
there
was,
as
you
know,
very
well
known
when
we
do
our
modern
reports
that
we
have
the
opportunity
to
make
policy
suggestions
and
linda
had
made
one
under
board
member
covenants
on
governing
policy
10,
and
it
is
on
the
back
side
of
your
memo
basically
strike
through
the
phrase
to
avoid
surprises
under
number
five.
A
I
A
A
Any
other
questions.
Okay,
all
those
in
favor
of
the
motion
on
the
floor.
Please
vote
by
saying:
yes,
any
opposed
no
on
to
the
actual
policy
monitoring
reports.
We
have
el
7,
8
and
nine.
Most
of
these
are
connected
to
our
our
budgeting
and
financial
section,
and
so
thank
you
for
preparing
those
reports,
dr
leitz
and
dr
dr
leitz.
You
were
just
promoted
mr
leets
and
dr
schatz.
We
have
thank
you.
Every
board
member
did
fill
out
fill
out
the
monetary
report.
So
thank
you
for
that.
A
We
have
three
in
front
of
us
with
the
board
prefer
to
take
these
all
at
once
or
individually
jim.
I.
B
Move
adoption,
el
8,
9
and
10
7,
7,
8
and
9
is
presented
in
the
packet.
A
A
A
Likewise,
on
eight-
and
I
think
I
made
a
comment
on
number
nine,
if
I
remember
correctly,
it's
been
a
while,
and
maybe
this
is
something
that
we
can
send
to
governance.
If
you
so
choose
under
gp
9
number
12,
there
is
a
phrase
saying
knowingly
recklessly
or
negligent
negligently
excuse
me
endanger
the
district's
public
image
or
credibility,
thereby
jeopardizing
its
ability
to
accomplish
its
mission,
which
sounds
great,
but
it's
under
our
our
asset
protection.
So
I
am
wondering
should
that
be
reworded.
A
A
B
A
Emery
there
you
go,
I
know
I
can
always
count
on
her.
Thank
you.
You
have
been
sent
the
agenda.
All
board
members
are
attending.
It
is
at
your
place
there.
I
encourage
you
to
pick
out
some
of
your
sessions
prior,
it's
also
wise
for
us
to
get
together,
so
we
don't
duplicate
too
many
of
those
classes.
So
we
we
spread
out
our
learning
opportunities.
A
It
should
be.
It
should
be
a
good
conference.
Everything's
scheduled
there.
Are
there
any
other
questions
in
general
about
the
conference
and
for
those
new
board
members
we'll
certainly
talk
to
you
about
registration
and
how
to
get
that
taken
care
of
it's.
It
flows
pretty
quickly.
So
at
the
ramcona
okay
contact
me
with
any
questions
on
ndsba.
A
B
You
could
planning
matin
for
the
life
of
me.
I
can't
even
remember
what
we
talked
about,
because
I've
had
such
a
fun
week.
B
We
looked
a
little
bit
at
what
we
might
need
to
do
for
preliminary
work
for
the
negotiations
committee,
just
in
terms
of
getting
some
kind
of
forecast
put
together.
So
when
that
committee
decides
to
engage
the
board
in
discussions,
they've
got
some
framework,
at
least
from
the
financial
perspective
of
the
district,
and
we
talked
a
little
bit
about
the
process
that
we
currently
use
in
either
rfping
rfq-ing,
putting
out
for
competitive
bid
or
negotiation
with
a
given
vendor.
B
B
F
Madam
president,
members
of
the
board,
the
native
american
commission,
met
and
completed
their
visioning
strategic
planning
process,
which
was
interesting,
and
I
really
enjoy
this
appointment
by
the
way.
I
really
do
it.
It's
so
they're
through
that
and
we'll
see
where
it
goes
going
forward.
But
it's
it's
a
it's
a
learning
process.
I've
been
through
just
a
few
meetings.
Now
gak
will
be
rescheduling
tomorrow's
meeting
in
case
anybody
didn't
get
that
notice.
There's
a
conflict
that
surfaced
and
so
email
went
out
today,
but
we'll
alert
everybody
when
we
reschedule.
A
J
I
received
some
questions
already
from
I.
C
G
G
I
listened
to
instruction
and
I
did
I
surprised
myself,
so
that
was
fun.
The
second
class
was
english.
It
was
really
fun
to
watch.
I
mean
it's
quite
different
from
the
day,
even
I
was
at
fargo
north.
They
all
have
tablets
and
watching
how
they're
able
to
manage
that
and
the
pros
and
the
cons
and
and
things
like
that.
So
I,
after
those
two
classes,
I
was
invited
to
have
lunch
with
eight
student
leaders,
ambassadors
from
fargo
north,
and
we
had
some
good
time
to
just
chat.
G
I
started
out
by
well
and
andy
dahlin
was
there
too,
and
we
started
out
by
just
saying
you
know.
Could
you
share,
and
I
took
some
notes
here
too:
could
you
share
a
little
bit
about?
You
know
safety
and
school
culture
and
climate
and
ap
course
offerings,
and
then
I
sort
of
opened
it
up
to
what?
G
So
anyway,
let's
see
to
start
with
safety,
I
also
was
able
they
did
go
into
lockdown
or
one
of
their
training
lockdowns.
G
Was
there
this
feeling
of
you
know
school
pride
and
and
did
they
all
go
to
football
games?
And
how
do
you
encourage
that?
Because,
from
their
perspective,
their
perception
is
that
it
has
declined
and
they're
looking
for
ways
to
improve
this
and
get
more
students
out
to
go.
Having
said
that,
the
list
of
activities
that
these
kids
are
in
is
impressive.
G
I
mean
incredible,
you
know
they
listed
just
a
handful
and
I
don't
think
anyone
in
the
group
had
less
than
four
or
five,
and
so
it
was
a
lot.
I
asked
them.
What
is
the?
What
time?
Do
you
all
get
to
go
to
bed
by
the
time
you're
done
with
all
of
these
activities
and
your
homework
and
and
the
earliest
was
midnight
yeah
so,
and
I
was
actually
very
one
of
the
students
shared
with
me.
G
He
had
done
some
research
and
for
one
of
his
classes
and
one
of
the
things
that
he
wrote
on
was
academic
setting
our
students
up
for
success.
How
many
hours
of
sleep
are
they
supposed
to
get
in
the
night
and
and
compared
to
what
they
the
reality
is
and
the
reality
was
they
get
about
six
or
seven
hours?
G
And
according
to
the
data
that
he
was
sharing
with
me,
and
so
he
was
prepared
because
they
were
talking
about
late,
start
wednesdays
and
they
really
like
weights
late,
start
wednesdays
by
the
way,
and
so
they
were
backing
up
their
their
wishes
with
with
information,
and
so
I
thought
I
thought
that
was
kind
of
fun
and
let's
see
ap
course
offerings.
G
They
had
a
lot
of
positive
things
to
say
about
that,
and
one
of
one
of
the
challenges
that
they
did
mention
was
having
to
travel
to
other
high
school
locations
for
some
of
the
offerings,
and
you
know
understanding
they
understand
why
that
is.
But
that
was
just
a
mention
when
I
opened
up
the
conversation
after
we
got
through
those
couple
key
topics.
I
said
you
know
what
is
top
of
mind
and
the
first
thing
was
about
the
lunch.
G
G
They
understand
that,
to
some
degree,
based
on
policies
that
are
put
in
place
that
are
out
of
our
con
out
of
the
district's
control,
but
they
wanted
us
to
hear
it
and
the
unintended
consequences
that
it
is
having
for
them
at
least
that
they
shared
with
me
is.
I
maybe
only
eat
a
yogurt
every
single
day,
because
that's
the
only
thing
that
I
would
choose
to
eat
out
of
this
option.
G
Well,
they
can't
really
function
on
eating
one
yogurt
a
day
and
one
student
said
you
know,
I
understand
wanting
to
eat
or
have
healthy
choices,
but
if
they
taste
terrible
and
they're
healthy
choices,
you're
really,
I
sort
of
feel
like
we
will
never
choose
healthy
choices,
so
these
are
just
things
that
they
that
they
wanted
me
to
share
with
you
all
about
about
that
and
and
that
they're
not
necessarily
having
an
op
or
having
the
option
for
enough
they're,
they're
still
hungry
at
the
end
of
the
day
or
even
midday.
G
Activity
they
had
questions
about
the
activity
budgets,
they
had
seen
some
differences
in
shifting
of
coaches,
and
so
they
were
right
away
concerned
about
what
that
meant,
and
mr
dolan
was
actually
in
the
room
when
they
asked
questions
about
that
and
was
able
to.
You
know,
answer
exactly
what
was
happening,
so
that
was
good.
They
just
wanted
to
know,
and
they
also
asked
me
about
dress
codes.
G
You
know
strict
dress
code
when
it
comes
to
jeggings
and
leggings
and
all
the
popular
fashions,
and
to
my
knowledge
we
haven't
had
that
conversation,
so
I
mentioned
late
start
day
and
they
talked
about
wednesdays
and
how
they
liked
that.
And
lastly,
I
would
just
say
you
know
this
was
a
great
group
of
kids
they're,
very
involved.
They
have
a
lot
of
great
ideas.
They
they
have
a
strong
desire
to
work
in
a
collaborative
way.
I
liked
their
approach
in
the
discussion.
G
You
know
here's
an
idea
we
like
and
if
you
discuss
it,
and
even
when
mr
dolan
came
back
into
the
room,
we
talked
about
a
lot
of
the
same
things
and
and
why
maybe
the
district
does
things
in
this
way
and
oh
okay?
Well,
that
makes
sense
you
know.
So
it
was.
I
thought
it
was
a
great
experience
and
it
was
just
really
fun
to
see
the
difference
how
different
it
all
is
compared
to
when
I
went
to
school
so
anyway.
G
A
I
My
liaison
experience
was
a
little
less
detailed
and
probably
not
quite
as
exciting,
but
still
very
interesting.
I
had
a
nice
chance
to
talk
with
kim
caldwell
the
principal
at
horace
mann
roosevelt
and
had
a
great
conversation
with
him,
and
it
is
nice
to
interact
with
the
people
who
are
on
the
front
line,
whether
they're,
a
teacher
or
a
custodian
or
a
principal
or
other
staff
member,
because
you
really
do
get
some
great
feedback
and
find
out
basically
how
happy
they
seem
to
be
doing
what
they're
doing,
which
is
educating
their
kids.
I
I
kept
asking
him
if
there's
anything
at
all
that
I
could
tell
the
school
board
about
that.
We
need
to
work
on
our
change
and
he
really
had
nothing
that
he
could
mention.
He
said
just
let
let
the
people
know
that
that
we're
enjoying
it
over
here
and
we
love
the
school
and
the
staff
has
been
excellent
to
work
with
and
that
the
students
seem
happy
and
he
was
pretty
happy
and
had
no
problems
to
report.
So
it
was,
you
know,
not
a
very
exciting
in
that
way,
conversation
but
exciting.
D
I
was
absent
at
the
last
board
meeting
so
I'll
give
a
report
that
I
didn't
get
a
chance
to
give.
During
the
first
couple
weeks
of
school,
I
visited
a
longfellow
went
to
a
staff
meeting
and
it
was
right
at
the
beginning
of
the
school
year.
So
that
was
great.
Everybody
was,
like
you
say,
in
a
good
mood,
fired
up,
love
their
school
parents
coming
and
walking
their
kids
home
on
a
gorgeous
gorgeous
day.
D
It
was
a
scary
book
and
then
also
did
a
visit
and
a
tour
and
a
chat
with
principal
at
mckinley,
and
I
was
not
able
to
go
to
the
development
committee
on
flicks
that
day.
But
I
have
my
engagement
scheduled
for
woodrow
wilson
and
then
our
negotiations
committee
will
meet
in.
K
I
have
my
engagement
at
south
on
monday
and
otherwise
nothing
else.
Okay,
very
good!
Oh
except
I
guess
I
would
just
remind
all
of
you
to
check
the
the
form
that
you
need
to
fill
out
for
communications
before
you
go
because
it's
helpful,
then
you,
you
know
it's
not
that
difficult,
but
thank
you.
A
Thank
you.
My
president's
report
is
sitting
on
my
computer
at
work,
so
I
quickly
put
together
some
I
left
in
a
tizzy.
I
quickly
put
together
the
date.
So
please
correct
me
if
I,
if
I
make
a
mistake
here,
obviously
we
have
indie
sba
forthcoming
and
we
talked
about
that
nsba
national
school
boards
association.
A
This
is
your
friendly
reminder
from
ann
marie
that
tomorrow
morning,
registration
opens,
and
that
is
for
the
the
con.
The
convention,
as
well
as
the
hotels
and
it's
it's
a
lot
of
pressure.
This
is
serious
and
I'm
not
being
facetious.
Here
it's
a
lot
of
pressure
for
anne
marie
to
get
us
the
hotel.
Are
you
gonna
be
up
at
1201.
A
At
nine
nine
a.m:
okay!
Okay!
So
this
is
your
last
chance
to
to
bow
out
or
change
your
mind.
If
you,
if
you
choose
to
do
so
and
then
once
you've
committed,
you
are
bound
and
you
cannot
get
out
of
it.
A
Okay!
So
get
that
to
anne
marie.
We
talked
about
the
business
leader
planning
for
the
strategic
plan
that
meeting
that's
probably
october,
28th,
okay,
and
that
would
be
a
morning
7
30.,
okay,
city
parks
and
schools.
I
couldn't
remember
the
date
on
that.
Do
you
have
that
handy.
L
A
A
The
governance
committee
was
charged
with
coming
up
with
the
topics
and
therefore
we
will
talk
about
fargo
public
schools,
legislative
agenda,
as
well
as
dr
schatz's,
very
enlightening
ell
adequacy
report.
So
those
will
be
our
two
topics
and
their
topics
we'll
probably
learn
about
when
we
get
there
so.
F
Madam
president,
as
long
as
we're
looking
ahead
to
the
national
convention,
rather
than
saying
it
after
the
fact,
I
would
encourage
our
superintendent
to
go
this
year.
I
know
that
we,
we
have
an
administrative
belt,
tightening
approach
to
travel,
but
I
would,
I
would
sure,
hope
that
that
belt
tightening
doesn't
preclude
our
our
administration
and
our
superintendent
from
being
at
that
convention.
There's
just
so
much
value
there.
E
E
I
I
L
A
We
will
have
breakfast
at
7,
30
and
we'll
start
meeting
promptly
at
eight
agenda
is
still
being
built
by
the
governance
committee.
But
if
you
have
any
suggestions,
please
please
let
one
of
us
know
it.
It
does
not
have
an
end
time
yet
so,
but
we'll
start
at
eight
other
than
that.
I
think
we
covered
all
of
the
upcoming
major
events.
A
A
and
as
far
as
my
personal
liaison
visits,
I
was
a
fargo
south
bruin
yesterday
and
I
asked
to
attend
some
more
of
the
career
and
tech,
ed
classes
and
and
I've
just
always
been
very
interested
in
them.
So
I
had
the
chance
to
be
a
student
in
automated
manufacturing
and
forensic
science,
and
I
had
a
picture
on
my
board
report.
A
President
report
of
me
welding
with
my
hat
on
and
the
gl
and
let's
just
say
I
don't
weld
very
well:
no,
they
didn't
call
it
a
hat
and
it
certainly
wasn't
flattering,
but
it
was,
but
it
was
fun.
But
you
know
it
was
very
enlightening
to
go
to
those
classes
and
just
talk
to
a
lot
of
the
kids
I'll.
Tell
you
what
the
automated
manufacturing
kids
were
so
outgoing.
They
were
all
men.
I
don't
you
know
whatever
I'm
not
going
to
make
any
judgments
there,
but
it
was.
It
was
fun,
it
was
interactive.
A
They
all
said
this
is
my
favorite
class
because
it
was
hands-on.
I
assume
I
started
to
ask
them
to
you
know
where
they
went
to
elementary
school
and
their
where
they
came
from
a
couple
of
students
did
transfer
from
davies,
and
so
that
was
very
interesting
to
me
to
learn
about
their
travel
time.
But
of
course,
this
fargo
south
is
kind
of
our
central
in
tech,
ed
school.
A
They
knew
where
they
were
going
and
narrowed
it
down
to
one
or
two
schools,
or
they
knew
what
their
career
path
was
going
to
be,
and
that's
not
always
so
common.
When
you
talk
to
more
less
focused
students,
so
it
was,
it
was
pretty
enlightening
for
me
and
pretty
meaningful.
Quite
frankly,
forensic
science,
I
that
was
way
fun
and
and
just
the
handwriting
does
still
happen,
because
we
did
handwriting
analysis
that
day-
and
I
thought
that's-
that's
a
pretty
cool
science
class.
A
I
don't
remember
being
that
around
when
I
was
at
fargo
north
and
of
course,
food
came
up
and
the
one
complaint-
and
I
didn't
have
time
to
stay
for
lunch-
was
there's
no
longer
nacho
cheese
other
than
that
the
food
was
okay,
they
were
still
a
little
bit
hungry,
but
that
was
the
biggest
concern.
A
So
so
that's
what
I
did
and
when
I
get
the
full
report
I'll,
send
you
my
my
great
picture
of
me
welding
and
don't
let
it
looks
impressive,
but
it
certainly
is
not.
I
had
no
idea
what
was
involved
and
how
many
different
techniques
there
were
so
a
great
opportunity
and
great
fun,
and
thank
you,
communications
committee,
for
helping
facilitate
setting
those
up.
Those
are
the
most
enlightening
things
for
me
as
a
board
member
keeps
it
real.
That's
for
sure
paul.
I
A
A
C
I
C
Would
all
depend
upon
if
it's
at
the
beginning
or
the
end
of
the
day,
and
we
really
try
to
use
those
periods
for
those
shared
courses
so
that
there
is
less
of
that
happening
for
our
students.
A
A
A
A
Day:
okay,
okay,
so
looking
two
meetings
ahead
with
that
we're
on
to
debriefing.
F
Madam
president,
one
quick
other
announcement,
if
I
could,
of
course,
paul's
birthday
was
yesterday
and
ra
and
and
and
anne
marie's
was
since
our
last
meeting.
But
friday
is
rebecca's
birthday,
so
happy
birthday,
rebecca
on
friday,.
