Description
Fargo Public Schools - Board of Education Meeting - Live Broadcast - November 8, 2016
A
We'll
call
this
meeting
to
order
the
fargo
school
board
on
this
election
night
very
exciting.
I
would
entertain
a
motion
to
approve
the
agenda
to
approve.
B
A
D
Thank
you
today
I
have
two
presenters
and
then
they're
students
and
one
of
them
has
brought
her
mom
along
as
well.
I
have
first
of
all,
I
have
steve
knutson
he's
a
teacher
at
art
teacher
at
discovery
and
his
student,
danny
steve,
is
also
a
valued
member
of
our
study
committee,
our
visual
arts
study
committee
and
a
active
participating
artist
in
the
community.
So
steve,
do
you
want
to
bring
your
bring
your
student
up.
E
All
right
well,
thanks
for
having
us
tonight
like
she
said,
I'm
steve,
knutson,
danny
with
me,
and
we
wanted
to
share
with
with
you
what
we're
trying
to
bring
into
my
classrooms,
with
my
sixth
graders
and
my
eighth
graders.
So
what
you're
seeing
right
now
is
danny's
online
portfolio,
so
we're
trying
to
utilize
her
plds
as
much
as
we
can
in
the
art
classroom.
E
So
every
time
danny
finishes
up
with
a
project
she's
going
to
use
her
pld
to
take
a
photograph
of
her
project
crop
it
and
then
answers
a
series
of
questions
that
I've
shared
with
her.
And
by
doing
this
we
can
utilize
quite
a
few
of
our
content
standards
that
we
have
been
working
on
the
past
couple
years,
as
well
as
most
of
the
21st
century
skills.
E
E
E
So
this
is
something
that
she
can
access
from,
google,
chrome
or
google
classroom
at
any
time
and
share
with
her
friends
and
family,
which
I'm
sure
she
does
all
the
time,
and
it's
also
helpful
at
parent
parent
teacher
conferences
as
well,
that
they
can
kind
of
see
how
she's
self-evaluating
herself
and
how
she's
viewing
her
projects
anything.
You
want
to
add
yet
dan,
okay,
all
right
so
and
then
they
keep
track
of
their
grades
and
assignments
throughout
this.
So,
as
you
can
see,
danny
is
just
barely
squeaking
by
in
my
class.
E
All
right,
so
the
next
project,
you're
going
to
see,
is
our
graffiti
project.
So
what
we
have
here
is
just
the
standards
that
we're
going
to
address.
I
like
to
keep
them
here,
so
the
students
can
review
what's
expected
of
them
and
then,
when
they're,
showing
this
to
their
parents,
that
their
parents
can
also
see
what's
required
of
them
in
my
class
and
so
here's
danny's
first
project.
E
At
the
end,
this
was
their
first
big
project,
and
so
we
didn't
want
to
ask
too
many
questions
for
the
first
couple
projects
just
to
get
them
used
to
the
process
of
making
a
portfolio
and
not
to
bog
them
down
with
too
many
things,
they're
just
going
to
stress
them
out
just
so
they
can
kind
of
get
this
going
and
then
once
they
get
their
feet
wet
with
it,
then
we
can
try
to
have
some
more
challenging
questions
this
next
quarter
so
danny.
E
F
Want
to
elaborate
on
that,
it
helps
with
you
can
think
of
like
different
ways
to.
E
All
right
and
the
next
project
we
just
finished
is
cultural
mask,
and
so
I
gave
the
students
nine
to
ten
cultures
to
research,
and
then
they
had
to
pick
one
that
they
thought
would
be
the
most
most
interesting
to
create
a
mask
from,
and
so
I
believe,
danny
you
went
with
african
culture.
Okay,
bothering
him.
If
I
go
to
the
next
slide:
okay,
all
right,
so
here's
danny's
mask,
and
so
she
picked
african
culture
and
then
with
the
clay.
E
A
Thank
you
very
much
and
I
love
the
kind
of
evaluating
yourself
on
that
particular
rubric,
and
you
know
three
is
doing
something
on
time.
Four
is
doing
something
ahead
of
time,
so
I'm
I'm
right
there
with
you
on
the
threes
for
any
artist.
I
think
that's
that's
doing
pretty
well
and
congratulations
on
the
wonderful
feature
story
in
the
forum
that
was
that
was
great
to
read
so.
G
Seesaw
is
a
online
app
that
kind
of
lets.
You
do
a
digital
portfolio,
and
I
learned
about
this
at
the
literacy
conference
this
year
and
have
incorporated
it
into
my
classroom.
So
we
are
going
to
show
you
how
a
student
accesses
seesaw
and
what
they
do
with
it
and
once
ren
shows
you
how
she
uses
it.
Her
work
then
comes
to
me
and
I
give
her
feedback
and
approve
it,
which
then
goes
to
her
mom.
So
we
thought
it
would
be
interesting
to
show
you
how
all
three
pieces
work
together
so
rend
how
it
works.
H
Hi,
my
name
is
ren
and
I'm
going
to
be,
and
I
go
to
claire
barton,
hawthorne
school
and
I'm
in
fourth
grade
and
I'm
going
today,
I'm
going
to
be
showing
you
what
I
use.
What
I
wait,
how
I
use.
H
H
H
This
is
my
leaf
art
that
I
did
in
mrs
id's
class
and.
G
When
I
don't
know
when
the
kids
did
this,
this
was
our
first
project
that
we
did
with
seesaw.
I
had
them.
They
had
to
write
a
reflection
of
the
piece
that
they
did
and
then
they
recorded
audio
of
them
reading
their
reflection,
so
we're
just
going
to.
H
And
this
is
what
I
have
and
then
now
I'm
going
to
show
you
I'm!
You
are
going
to
listen
to
what
I
have
like
my
list
that
I've
done
to
make
my
leaf
art
my
leaf
project
byron.
Today,
I'm
going
to
tell
you
how
I
created
my
leaf
project.
First,
I
used
water
to
wet
down
a
piece
of
watercolor
paper.
Then
mrs
ivey
asked
my
class
to
pick
out
watercolor
paint
in
fall,
colors,
yellow
and
orange.
H
Next
I
painted
splotches
of
orange
and
yellow
all
over
my
damp
paper,
and
I
and
I
put
my
paper
on
the
drying
rack.
Then
I
picked
out
my
leaf.
While
my
paper
dried,
I
used
my
leaf
as
a
model
and
drew
the
leaf
in
my
art
journal.
Then
mrs
eide
had
our
class
pick
out
dark
colors
like
purple
green,
black
and
brown,
and
some
blue
to
give
it
a
little
tint.
H
After
my
painting
dry,
I
cut
out
the
leaf.
I
drew
and
used
it
as
a
stencil
to
make
an
odd
number
of
leaves
on
my
painting,
mrs
iddy
told
us
to
overlap
the
leaves
on
our
painting.
Then
I
used,
I
used
the
dark
colored
pastel
crayons
to
color
around
my
leaves.
I
am
looking
forward
to
seeing
it
finished
next
time.
H
H
H
This
is
a
video
of
me
doing
my
part
three
assessment
lesson:
seven
assessment
for
science
since,
in
my
class,
the
final
one
and
it
goes
up.
This
is
my
second.
G
And
my
account
looks
very
much
like
hers
does
this
is
a
class
feed
and
it
shows
all
of
the
stuff
that
the
kids
are
working
on
and
I
currently
have
27
unapproved
items
that
I
have
to
go
in
now
and
approve,
and
so
I
go
up
here
and
to
here
and
in
this
I
see
who
has
done
what
and
I
can.
G
I
will
go
into
this
into
where
the
unapproved
items
are
and
ren's
will
pop
up
here,
and
at
this
point
I
can,
I
can
look
at
her
work.
I
can
comment
on
her
work,
so
I
can
add
a
comment
here,
great
job
and
I
post
that
and
then
I
approve
it
and
once
I
approve
it,
that's
where
the
parent
piece
comes
in
because
so
terry
has
terri.
Has
this
app
on
her
phone?
I
The
app
on
the
phone
you
can
set
it
up
to
send
a
ping
or
it
can
also
send
you
an
email
or,
I
think,
a
text
message
as
well.
When
something
new
is
on
and
it
looks
just
like
the
wren's
page
except
then
I
can
also
comment
or
you
can
do
a
little
heart
for
if
you
like
something
so
that's
kind
of
fun
to
see,
and
then
we
can
read
mrs
schweiger's
comments
as
well.
G
And
I
get
I
get
all
everything
comes
to
me
and
I
have
to
approve
it
before
it
goes
back
out
to
parents
or
anything
and
then
once
I
approve
it,
then
they
can
make
their
comments.
But
even
parent
comments
come
back
to
me
and
I
have
to
approve
those,
so
we
have
done
many
different
things
with
this.
G
Like
I
said,
the
first
project
was
the
art
project
and
then
we've
we
put
up
our
morning
work.
Sometimes
the
piece
I
just
last
week:
we
ended
up
our
science
unit
and
on
that
science
unit
they
were
investigating
powders
and
we
have
a
paper
test,
but
I
had
them
take
that
paper
test
then,
and
what
ren
was
explaining
for
her
first
part.
G
She
had
to
present
that
to
her
viewers,
and
so
she
had
to
explain
what
it
was
that
she
was
doing
why
she
chose
the
powders
that
she
was
choosing,
and
that
was
basically
part
one
part
two
then
was
she
got
a
mystery
bag
from
one
of
her
classmates
and
she
had
to
explain
through
the
observations
what
she
thought.
Those
mystery
powders
were
and
then
she
had
to
prove
her
reasoning
with
a
liquid
of
her
choice,
and
then
I
identify
what
those
were
and
then
her
third
part
was:
was
she
correct
or
not?
G
And
if
she
wasn't,
where
does
she
think
she
messed
up?
And
so
then
I
I've
learned
so
much
about
their
understanding
through
that
presentation
than
just
the
pencil
and
paper
and
mom,
and
dad
also
got
to
see
that.
So
I
find
it
a
very
valuable
tool.
I'm
only
been
using
it
for
about
a
month,
but
the
kids
like
it.
G
J
Thank
you.
I
think
this
is
fantastic
way
to
keep
in
touch
with
parents
as
well
and
creates
good
conversation
at
home
when
they
come
home.
You
can
talk
immediately
about
the
project
they
did
at
school.
So
often
I'll
ask
my
kids:
how
was
your
day
who's
good?
What
was
the
best
part?
I
don't
know.
What
did
you
learn
today?
I
don't
know
this
right
away.
Gives
me
the
opportunity
to
engage
them
in
something
specific,
I'm
just
curious.
How
did
you
come
across
this
app.
G
And
then
also
a
teacher
in
our
building
presented
at
the
literacy
conference
seesaw,
so
she's
been
a
fantastic
help
that
was
cheryl.
Bombinger
was
okay,
helped
us
with
that.
J
G
Yeah
and
the
other
thing
that
I
like
is
that
we
can
incorporate
all
the
specials
so
like
sharon's
work,
we
bring
that
into
the
classroom
and
that
becomes
part
of
her
portfolio
later
in
the
year,
the
in
music
class,
the
kids
write
a
song
and
then
they
play
it
on
their
recorders,
so
they'll
be
able
to
take
a
picture
of
their
music
that
they
write
and
then
play
their
song
through
there.
G
A
Fantastic,
thank
you
so
much
dr
schatz
did
you
have
anything
you
were
going
to
have
anybody
else?
Have
any
comments
or
questions
of
our
guests
again
so
inspiring
and
wren
and
danny?
Thank
you
again
for
sharing
your
works
with
us.
That's
fantastic
could
listen
to
you
and
talk
all
night
and
look
at
your
work,
so
very
nice.
Thank
you
so
much
that
was
fantastic
great.
This
brings
us
to
there's.
Is
there
anyone
in
the
audience
who
did
not
sign
up
but
wishes
to
speak?
A
Okay
brings
us
to
reports.
Fea
report
dave
hello,.
K
Hello
this
week,
fea
is
hosting
gene
week
and
you've
seen
some
posters
out
in
the
schools.
Some
signs
staff
donate
a
dollar
a
day
to
wear
jeans
and
how
the
money
raised
goes
to
christmas
wish.
98.7
years
past
we've
donated
fargo
public
schools.
Employees
have
donated
up
to
three
thousand
dollars,
I
think,
to
the
fount
to
the
to
the
wish,
and
so
it's
fabulous.
It
goes
to
the
area,
kids
that
we've
been
serving
and
entering
our
schools
every
day.
K
So
it's
a
great
little
thing
to
do
for
our
community
next
week
is
nea's
national
american
national
education
week
and
the
theme
this
year
is
great
public
schools,
a
basic
right
and
our
responsibility,
one
of
the
throughout
the
week
they
do
different
sponsor
different
days,
like
parents
can
go
into
the
schools
one
day
and
wednesday
is
paraprofessional
day,
and
so
north
dakota,
united
and
fea
will
be
hosting
a
little
social
for
our
paraprofessionals,
our
members
and
non-members
to
thank
them
for
what
they
do
every
day
and
ensuring
our
kids
are
having
the
services
they
need
and
everything
else.
K
K
The
board
last
night
decided
to
have,
which
was
a
thing,
a
great
idea,
somebody
else
to
sit
with
me,
so
the
board
members
will
be
here
along
with
me
every
week
and
so
it'll
be
somebody
new
every
week,
and
so
you
get
to
meet
our
board
as
well
and
laura
is
our
vice
president
and
also
government
relations
person,
so
you'll
probably
be
seeing
her
also
working
with
the
mill
levy
as
we
get
going
with
that
as
well.
So-
and
that's
all
I
have
for
this
week,.
L
Okay,
thank
you.
I
have
before
you
the
rsp
enrollment
report
that
we
received
last
week
and
then
just
today
we
got
the
actual
booklet,
and
so
my
plan
here
will
be
to
walk
you
through
some
of
the
highlights.
Obviously
you
can't
go
through
every
everything
in
this
booklet,
but
some
of
the
highlights
and
then
the
other
thing
that
I
have
before
you
is
a
map
city
map
and
working
with
jim
gilmore
in
the
planning
department.
L
I
can
walk
you
through
what
we're
seeing
in
the
last
six
months
with
development,
and
so
that's
the
game
plan
here
and
if
there's
questions
just
let
me
know
as
we
go
through
this,
if
that's
okay
with
everybody
and
then
I
also
did
one
last
thing,
is
I
also
brought
a
larger
map
so,
if
later
on,
you
want
to
go
up
and
take
a
closer
look.
You
can.
I
know
the
print's
small
on
this
one.
L
There's
projected
enrollment
should
be
near
12
000
in
that
five
year
period
of
time.
We
do
this
for
a
five
year
period
of
time.
It
says
elementary
middle
and
high
school
enrollment
is
expected
to
be
greater
than
it
was
in
2016-17.
L
L
We
did
very
closely
monitor
the
petition
process,
particularly
at
the
elementary
level,
with
the
boundary
line,
finalization
of
those
changes
to
make
sure
that
we
were
able
to
balance
the
schools
and
the
enrollments
and
have
people
going
to
school
where
their
attendance
areas,
and
so
every
year
that
is
watch
closely,
and
I
I
shared
that
information
with
all
of
you
earlier
this
year,
stu
how
many
of
those
occurred
and
those
types
of
things
a
transfer,
new
residential
development
will
occur
at
a
steady
pace,
impacting
enrollment
yield
rates,
and
that's
what
I'll
go
through.
L
When
I
look
at
the
city
map
and
try
to
point
some
things
out
for
you
and
then
it
says,
future
residential
development
will
likely
continue
on
the
south
side.
That's
no
new
news.
We
know
that
and
that's
where
we
see
most
of
the
development,
if
not
all
of
it.
Elementary
school
capacity
challenges
have
been
addressed
with
the
opening
of
ed
clap
and
eagles,
and
so
that
is
now
nicely
mapped
out
for
us
and
claire
barton.
L
Jefferson
should
be
monitored
to
ensure
that
the
things
aren't
compromised
as
their
tenants
nearest
capacity,
but
they've
been
do
they've
been
at
about
capacity
for
what
we
can
consider
capacity
for
the
last
couple
years.
But
those
numbers
also
look
pretty
pretty
balanced
and
we
don't
see
any
high
spikes
coming,
but
he
just
makes
that
note.
We
do
know
that
davies
and
discovery
will
be
the
two
areas
that
will
be
the
most
impacted
with
the
growth
right
now
and
also
bennett.
L
You
know,
as
we
have
built
eagles
and
as
we
did
at
clap,
it
was
to
set
us
up
to
be
able
to
absorb
growth
in
the
far
south,
but
bennett
when
you
get
to
that
outer
five-year
prediction
is
starting
to
show
where
numbers
are
going
to
build
back
in
faster
than
kennedy,
and
so
we'll
have
to
monitor
that
and
again
we
do
this
every
year.
So
for
right
now
we're
looking
at
five
years,
we'll
see
what
next
year
brings
and
we'll
just
say
each
year
have
to
keep
a
close
eye
on
that.
L
And
then
his
last
comment
says:
if
enrollment
continues
to
stabilize
more
and
more
in
the
coming
years,
the
few
capacity
challenges
may
still
be
realized,
but
beyond
the
five
year
outlook
and
what
he's
saying
there
is
that
we're
really
in
pretty
good
shape
right
now
in
that
the
need
for
any
kind
of
new
facility
in
particular
elementary
school,
is
probably
far
off
somewhere
beyond
that
five-year
time
that
he's
talking
about,
but
the
the
again
the
biggest
issue
that
we'll
be
dealing
with
is
discovery
and
babies
and
deciding
what
are
we
going
to
do
with
those
enrollments
if
they
start
to
hit
capacity,
and
where
do
we
go
with
that,
and
so
that's
a
conversation
for
some
other
day
when
we
talk
about
planning
and
things
like
that,
but
we'll
have
to
get
engaged
in
that
conversation.
L
Okay.
So
if
you
turn
the
pages-
and
I
will
go
to
page
seven-
I
always
look
at
this
chart
and
in
this
chart
here
you
get
again
it
just.
It
shows
you
that
trajectory
of
increased
enrollment
and
it
shows
it
at
each
level
and
that's
that's
what
this
chart
represents
and,
as
you
can
see,
as
we
get
out
to
11911
in
the
year,
20
21
22,
so
we're
getting
close
to
that
12
000..
L
If
you
go
to
the
next
page,
that's
where
we
break
it
down
and
we
look
at
all
the
different
schools
and
you
can
see
that
in
the
past
at
claire
barton
we
were
showing
some
capacity
numbers
at
kennedy
and
at
lewis
and
clark,
but
you
can
see
as
we
made
those
adjustments.
Kennedy,
lewis
and
clark
now
are
well
suited
and
then
claire
barton's
numbers
are
pretty
steady
and
and
a
little
bit
lower
than
they
were
back
in
2014
13,
14,
14,
15
and
15
16..
L
Everybody
is,
when
you
don't
see
any
gold
gold
markings.
That
means
that
everybody's
within
their
capacities,
the
one
area
that
I
wanted
to
point
out,
is
mckinley.
If
you
take
a
look
at
mckinley
and
the
one
enrollment
that
I
use
to
take
a
look
at
what
we
we
think
it
might
be.
Is
that
green
section,
the
future
enrollment
by
student
residents?
That's
where
kids
are
reside?
L
Student
enrollment
by
student
attendance
is,
if
kids
petition
to
other
schools
that
kind
of
thing,
so
it
gives
you
a
sense
of
what
he
knows
is
loaded
in
the
system
at
this
time
and
the
best
possible
prediction.
But
if
you
look
at
mckinley,
one
of
the
things
that
was
asked
when
I
presented
at
planning
was
what's
what's
ree
green,
because
robert
used
that
term
it's.
L
There
is
some
indication
of
a
little
bit
of
turnover
on
the
north
side,
where
there
are
younger
families
moving
into
some
homes
where
there
might
have
been
older
folks
that
have
now
moved
out.
But
this
is
the
only
area
where
I'm
really
seeing
that.
I
don't
see
that
in
other
areas,
but
there
is
the
potential
on
the
north
side
for
some
of
this
to
occur.
So
that's
good
news
for
mckinley.
L
L
When
you
look
at
roosevelt,
you
see
numbers
kind
of
bump
up
and
then
they
kind
of
stable
go
stable
again
and
fall
back
down
to
some
of
the
numbers
that
they've
had,
but
right
now,
indications
are,
as
they
could
start
to
get
up
into
that
170
180
190,
and
so
I
guess
we'll
see
what
time
brings
on
that.
But
so
that's
what
he
calls
regrain
is
that
it's
starting
to
flip
or
turn
over
a
little
bit.
But
we
don't
see
huge
changes.
L
We
don't
see
100
200
type
numbers,
so
it's
pretty
modest
and
it's
and
we
can
well
deal
with
it.
If
you
go
down
to
the
secondary
schools,
you
can
see
the
numbers
with
davies
and
you
can
see
the
numbers
with
discovery
and
so
that'll
be
our
biggest
concern
in
the
conversations
that
we'll
need
to
have
there's
going
to
have
to
be
some
conversations
about
discovery
and
the
school
facility
itself,
whether
or
not
we
need
to
do
some
upgrading,
maybe
a
little
bit
of
expansion.
L
The
building
is
old,
older
and
probably
is
due
for
a
complete
review
and
then
to
determine
what
we
might
do
in
the
near
future
or
sometime
in
the
next
year
or
two.
I
would
suspect
that
we
would
bring
that
to
planning
sometime
after
christmas
to
ask
the
board
to
give
us
the
ability
to
go
out
and
at
least
do
the
review
of
the
building
so
that
sometime
in
the
spring,
we
could
come
back
and
say
here's
what
we're
seeing
here's,
what
we
think
and
then
we
could
start
the
the
conversation
about.
L
Should
we
do
something
different
there.
So
I
would
say
discovery
is
where
that's
at
with
davies
high
school
as
we
watch
the
numbers,
you
do
have
an
opportunity
there
to
bring
the
numbers
down
and
again.
This
is
at
the
high
school
level.
Only,
but
you
would
you
would
have
an
outlet
with
south,
because
there
is
capacity
at
south
to
absorb
students.
The
downside
and
the
challenge
would
be
is
that
you
might
have
to
change
an
attendance
line
and
we
know
how
challenging
that
is.
L
But
I
know
that
I've
publicly
said
that
you
know:
we've
set
the
tennis
lines
at
the
elementary
level.
There
should
be
no
need
for
changes
there,
but
we
knew
that
at
the
davies
level,
especially
with
the
capacity
that
south
has
someday,
that
decision
might
have
to
be
made
because
you
can't
just
go
build
another
high
school
and
you
certainly
would
have
to
talk
about
how
big
of
a
high
school
do.
L
So
I
think
it
gives
us
a
great
indicator
here
of
where
we're
at
one
other
thing
too.
I
wanted
to
point
out
fargo
north
with
the
adjustments
we
made.
You
see.
Eventually
they
get
back
up
over
a
thousand.
That
was
the
game
plan,
and
so
that's
good
to
see
that
gives
them
more
students
back
into
their
area.
L
Carl
ben
remains
fairly
stable
ben
franklin.
We
see
a
little
bit
of
a
growth
there,
and
then
we
see
in
the
projection
out
in
2021
a
little
bit
of
a
dip,
so
we'll
have
to
monitor
that
in
future
reports
and
see
the
next
page
I'll
bring
your
attention
to
is
one
of
the
things
I
always
ask.
L
Rob
is
how
accurate
are
your
reports,
and
this
is
that
part
where
he
shows
the
accuracy
of
their
predictions
and
so
feeling
very
good
about
the
fact
that
they're,
almost
all
in
the
99
percentile,
so
in
other
words,
the
information
he's
giving
us
is
playing
out,
and
so
it's
very
helpful
as
we
do
this
planning
for
the
future
that
that
we
have
stable
data
and
that
that
data
is
accurate,
and
so
this
just
depicts
what's
occurred
over
the
last
few
years.
That
he's
worked
with
us.
L
Okay,
if
you
go
over
and
look
at
number
four
and
eagles
the
red
and
the
oranges
that
in
that
area,
that
is
the
major
attendance
area
attending
there.
So
we
know
we
have
a
lot
of
students
in
that
area
so
that
that's
good
news
when
you
look
up
at
number
eight,
and
that
is
jefferson-
you
see
the
highly
dense
and
densely
populated
area
there
there.
A
lot
of
that
is
low
income,
housing
off
of
a
couple
blocks
off
of
25th
and
then,
if
you
go
up
to
madison,
take
a
look
at
madison
there.
L
You
can
see
that's
pretty
densely
populated
right
around
the
school,
so
you
know
again.
I
think
it
depicts
in
a
lot
of
ways
when
we
have
neighborhood
schools,
people
tend
to
choose
to
live
around
their
neighborhood
schools
with
children,
and
I
mean
that's
what
I
quickly
can
can
gather
from
this
it'll
be
interesting
to
see
when
we
go
way
up
to
the
north
side.
L
L
So
I
want
to
go
to
the
city
map
that
you
have
before
you,
and
I
always
look
at
this.
I
get
this
once
every
six
months
from
jim
gilmore.
What
this
does
is.
It
shows
it's
called
building
permits
and
vacant
lots,
and
so
it
shows
what's
happening
with
development
and,
like
I
said
on
the
north
end,
there's
very
little
development.
L
So
this
map
depicts
really
where
all
the
most
of
the
major
development
is,
and
so
I'm
going
to
walk
you
through
each
one
of
these
areas
and
just
give
you
what
my
thoughts
are
and
what
I've
learned
from
jim.
In
our
conversations
number
one
I'm
looking
at
that
frontier
area,
it's
called
maple
valley,
two
woodhurst
maple
valley,
that
red
area
for
maple
valley,
too,
is
is
new
infrastructure.
Now
that's
been
put
in
to
complete
that
division,
and
so
that
is
going
to
add.
L
If
you
go
up
and
you
look
at
the
map
and
you
look
into
the
red
area,
it
says
63
maple
valley,
two,
that's
how
you
look
in
63
lots
that
they're
adding
in
there
okay.
So
that's
that
that'll
be
newer.
That's
that's
new!
As
of
2015.
L
L
L
I
believe
that
is
the
bennett
area
too.
Some
of
that
and
so-
and
so
that's
that's
one
area
to
watch
for
us.
If
you
go
number
two,
I
take
you
down
towards
davies
high
school
25th
street.
You
see
the
green
spot
in
there
and
you
see
all
the
red
it's
eagle
valley.
They
just
added
that
new
infrastructure
there.
So
that's
all
new
coming
in
eagle
valley,
two
and
that's
about
another.
What
do
they
say?
L
63
lots
there
too,
and
then
you
can
see
where
they
put
in
the
infrastructure
there,
and
you
can
see
the
blues
and
the
yellows
now
and
as
eventually
you're
going
to
start
to
see
the
grays
fill
in
there.
So
that's
that's
happening
fairly
rapidly
because
it's
more
for
affordable
housing
and
so
in
smaller
lots.
L
As
you
look
to
the
north
of
davies,
you
can
see
that
the
development
that
first
went
up
out
there
after
the
school
was
built
is
all
gray
now,
just
a
very
few
lots
that
are
still
building
the
lots
next
to
it.
That
was
the
next
development
you
can
see
how
that's
starting
to
gray
in,
and
you
see
that
it
continues
to
build
the
one
to
the
far
right
has
been
rezoned
again
to
have
smaller
lots
and
more
lots,
and
so,
when
you
look
up
at
the
bison
meadows,
they
have
in
there.
I
believe
131.
L
and
so
when
and
then,
if
you
just
drop
down
from
south
to
there
and
that's
at
eagle
point
one
two
one
through
three
just
south
of
the
boys
ranch
in
the
school
there,
you
can
see
how
all
of
that,
just
within
the
last
five
years,
four
years,
and
so
that's
some
pretty
rapid
growth
and
that's
why
I
think
you're
going
to
see
a
lot
of
this
is
heading
up
towards
bennett
and
that's
why
you're
going
to
see
the
re.
L
L
So
I
want
to
bring
you
over
to
my
fifth
spot.
That's
golden
valley,
and
that
is
just
to
the
east
or
west
of
davies.
That
infrastructure
was
put
in
a
little
over
a
year
year
and
a
half
ago
you're
starting
to
see
houses
get
finished
out
there.
You
start
to
see
the
graze.
A
few
of
them
are
being
built,
but
that's
going
a
little
bit
slower
than
some
of
the
other
areas.
A
little
bigger
lots,
a
little
bit
more
expensive
housing
there.
L
If
you
go
up
to
timber
creek,
that's
at
christensen
property.
You
can
see
where
the
the
housing
has
started
to
fill
in
there.
There's
still
this
whole
open
area,
that's
kind
of
around
the
interstate
and
then
back
down
around
52nd.
There
really
hasn't
any
been
any
pre-development
in
there,
but
I
suspect
we
may
see
something
happen.
There
I
don't
know
if
it
will
be
commercial
and
maybe
a
little
bit
of
residential.
L
There
seems
to
be
quite
a
bit
of
apartments
going
into
some
of
these
areas,
but
this
would
be
centennial,
and
so,
when
we
brought
centennial's
numbers
down
a
little
bit
here
with
the
addition
of
eagles,
that
was
with
the
idea
that
this
is
where
those
kids
would
end
up,
and
so
that
was
the
reasoning
for
that.
Okay.
L
So
if
you
hop
over
the
interstate,
then-
and
you
look
at
the
kennedy
situation-
we
know
that
cottage
wood
that's
been
there
for
quite
a
while,
and
it
continues
to
develop
but
the
actual
completion
of
homes.
As
you
see
there,
the
grays
and
the
blues
is
rather
slow.
It
hasn't
moved
as
quick
as
what
we
see
in
some
of
the
other
areas
and
then
the
pines
at
the
district.
That's
right!
Next
to
walmart.
L
L
And
as
we've
looked
at
land,
the
west
side,
land
at
this
time
is
not
as
desirable
as
possibly
somewhere
on
the
east
side
of
the
interstate
and
again,
a
lot
of
this
is
predicated
too
on
what
happens
with
diversion
and
what
the
what
the
interest
is
of
the
city
to
develop
anything
further
south
of
76th,
and
so
we
just
again
are
watching
that
and
we
have
a
couple
of
individuals
that
we
stay
in
touch
with
to
make
sure
that
if
something
starts
to
happen
that
they're
letting
us
know
but
right
now,
it's
really
there's
really
nothing
happening
that
we're
aware
of,
and
so
but
we're
keeping
our
eyes
on
it,
because
eventually,
that
will
be
something
we
have
to
do.
L
The
other
challenge,
the
one
of
the
last
things
I'll
say
about
this.
If
you
go
back
over
to
davies
and
you
look
at
where
that
was
nested,
there
was
land
there
originally
that
was
purchased
for
possibly
another
elementary
school,
but
with
the
way
things
have
developed.
I
am
fearful
that,
if
that
were
to
be
a
site
of
an
elementary
school,
your
boundary
line
would
be
70th
avenue
with
bennett.
L
So
you
would
have
a
it's
it's
not
placed
where
it
should
be.
As
far
as
in
the
middle
of
an
attendance
area,
so
that'll
be
another
discussion
point
down
the
road
is:
do
we
do
something
a
little
bit
further
south
with
another
piece
of
land
and
then
do
something
with
that
piece
of
land
that's
different
than
what
it
was
originally
thought
to
be
at
the
time
when
they
were
way
back?
When
looking
at
all
that,
so
in
a
nutshell,
that
kind
of
gives
you
an
update
on
what's
happening.
There.
M
Thank
you
dinah.
I
just.
L
L
Yep
and
then,
when
you
get
further
up
north,
you
all
know
how
that
goes.
It
starts
to
do
all
sorts
of
goofy
things
as
it
gets
up
into
the
city,
but
this
here
is
pretty
straightforward,
and
so
you
can
see
too.
If
you
want
to
look
at
what's
going
on
over
here
in
west
fargo,
I
mean
that's
that
you
can
see
all
the
things
happening
there
and
that's
why
they
have
tremendous
growth
going
on
too.
A
A
Motion
in
a
second
to
approve
the
items
on
the
consent
agenda,
all
in
favor,
say
aye
aye
all
opposed
same
motion
carried.
Thank
you,
okay,
so
we
are
at
our.
Let
me
get
organized
here.
A
Thank
you.
Everyone
who
completed
the
evaluation
of
the
superintendent,
both
the
all
nine
marking
satisfactory,
but
giving
very
helpful
feedback
to
the
superintendent,
which
is
very
helpful,
so
I
would
entertain
a
motion
to
accept
and
file
this
evaluation.
A
N
A
O
B
P
A
Boyd
yes,
motion
is
approved,
brings
us
to
our
various
monitoring
and
some
policy
revisions.
A
So,
as
jennifer
pointed
out
when
we
were
going
through
this,
that
there
was
some
kind
of
some
murkiness
in
the
way
that
this
was
worded.
So
we
gave
it
a
good
look
at
governance,
and
so
this
is
to
clarify
the
schedule
of
monitoring
superintendent
performance.
It
said
three
in
our
policies
and
we
could
only
figure
where
it
said
two,
but
then
we
realized
one
of
those
was
actually
the
the
work
plan
or
the
operational
plan.
So
the
changes
that
are
before
you
is
just
basically
to
clarify
that.
A
It
was
that
who
jumped
in
first
brandi
okay
motion
in
a
second
to
accept
the
bsr5
policy
revisions.
Any
discussion,
anne
marie
you'd
call
the
roll
all
in
favor
say
you
betcha.
No,
all.
A
O
R
P
D
A
Okay,
the
next
two
I
would
suggest
we
could
look
at
together.
This
is
another
clarity
change,
but
since
they're
tied
the
same
issue
is
tied
together
on
both
el
789
and
gp8e.
A
We
thought
we
would
take
them
together.
So
el
789
is
basically
the
kind
of
the
financial
review
and
it
was
suggested
that
there
might
be
a
better
time
in
our
year
to
do
that.
So
the
suggestion
that
came
out
of
governance
is
that
we
continue
to
do
it
twice
a
year,
but
it
would
make
more
sense
to
have
that
after
we
receive
the
audit,
so
hence
the
december
one
and
then
at
the
end
of
our
school
year,
getting
towards
the
end
of
our
fiscal
year,
the
june
one.
A
A
S
O
A
We're
all
over
the
place
tonight,
that's
just
a-okay.
Okay,
we
are
to
committee
liaison
and
correspondence
reports.
While
we're
doing
that,
I
have
a
piece
of
correspondence:
that's
addressed
to
the
board,
so
I'll
just
send
it
around
and
john.
Let's
start
with
you
tonight,.
P
J
Thank
you,
jennifer,
okay,
so
communications
committee
is
going
to
meet
on
monday.
So
if
there
are
any
agenda
items,
you
would
like
to
see
added
I'll
be
working
on
the
agenda
this
week
generally
submitting
them
by
thursday
would
be
great,
and
I
attended
both
washington
and
which
is
one
of
my
liaison
schools.
The
staff
meeting
there,
where
dr
schatz
presented
the
mill
levy
information,
I
thought
it
was
well
received
and
some
good
questions
were
were
asked
and
answered.
J
R
Gak
has
two
meetings
coming
up
the
first
one
is
november
10th
this
week
at
7
30
in
the
board
room
and
the
next
one
is
november,
if
we
need
it
november,
16th,
also
at
7
30
in
the
board
room.
So
once
we
have
the
results
of
this
evening's
election,
we
will
get
our
assignments
for
who
our
representatives
are,
that
we
will
be
responsible
for
contacting
and
following
up
in
regard
to
the
legislative
booklet.
R
And
then
we
do
have
a
meeting
set
for
december
7th,
also
at
7
30
a.m.
At
the
district
office,
which
would
be
a
style
of,
I
think
I
don't
know
if
we're
doing
a
breakfast
or
not,
if
we're
just
doing
a
meeting
but
okay,
to
welcome
in
the
new
or
real
newly
re-elected
legislators
to
walk
them
through
our
priorities.
A
little
bit
before
the
session
starts,
and
in
regard
to
my
responsibility
on
the
native
american
commission,
there
are
a
couple
of
items
that
I
thought
were
interesting
one
yesterday.
R
B
B
We
looked
at
a
couple
of
opportunities
for
some
refunding
of
bond
issues
that
are
out
there,
and
my
guess
is.
We
will
be
moving
forward,
probably
shortly
after
the
first
of
the
year,
to
take
advantage
of
those
and
ultimately
save
ourselves,
some
of
our
interest
expense
on
our
capital
projects,
and
we
had
an
update
regarding
el8,
which
is
an
executive
limitation
that,
as
soon
as
the
administration
senses
that
we
may
need
to
do
a
budget
adjustment
there
to
bring
it
to
the
board's
attention.
B
We
are
not
asking
for
presenting
a
budget
adjustment
at
this
time,
but,
as
you
all
may
recall,
when
the
budget
was
put
together,
we
went
about
as
skinny
as
possible
in
all
areas,
including
staffing
and
as
the
school
year
is
unfolded
at
this
point
in
time.
If
things
don't
change,
it
appears
we'll
probably
go
over
on
our
pericos,
or
at
least
one
or
more
lines
of
the
employee's
salary
and
benefit
lines
collectively,
we're
not
certain.
B
We
certainly
have
the
capacity
to
do
it
with
our
our
fund
balance.
Currently,
so
that's
what
we
covered
at
planning,
I
think
most
of
you
all
of
you
had
a
little
bit
of
time
out
at
the
state
school
board
conference.
B
Yesterday
I
had
the
pleasure
I
guess,
of
having
another
sec
meeting.
Sec
is
going
through
the
advanced,
ed
accreditation
process
and
the
board
was
interviewed
by
the
advanced
ed
team
yesterday
for
about
two
hours,
they're,
obviously
visiting
with
all
stakeholders,
and
I
believe,
they're
going
to
be
reporting
out
sometime.
I
believe
tomorrow
afternoon.
B
I
have
it
on
my
schedule,
but
I'm
not
certain
I'm
going
to
get
there,
but
I'm
hopeful
that
the
sec
will
actually
get
a
pretty
good
report
card
back
from
advanced
ed
as
well,
and
I
think
that's
it.
M
Thank
you
dinah,
nothing
to
report,
except
that
for
those
of
you
who
haven't
seen
your
mail
today,
the
fargo
dome
has
already
changed
the
date
of
their
social
to
the
week
before.
So
I'm
bringing
that
up
now
so
that
we
should
all
put
that
on
our
calendars.
A
S
I
will
be
contacting
all
the
members
of
the
negotiations
committee
soon
trying
to
find
a
date
when
we
can
all
get
together.
There
are
a
couple
of
new
members
to
negotiation,
so
I
think
it'd
be
nice
to
to
get
this
ball
rolling
a
little
bit
ahead
of
time.
I
think
you
also
got
an
email
on
the
school
boards
association
negotiation
seminar.
The
date
has
not
been
set
right.
O
The
date
has
been
set
february,
9th
and
10th.
We
just
don't
have
an
agenda,
so
I
don't
have
the
specifics
of
what
each
day
will
be
unless
jim
knows
more
from
school
boards.
So
as
soon
as
I
see
that
definitely
we'll
get
that
out,
but
I
will
make
hotel
reservations
for
you
too,
so
we
ensure
we
have
that
so
I
haven't
heard
from
a
couple
of
you.
So
if
I
could
hear
back
tonight,
that'd
be
great.
S
T
T
I've
had
the
pleasure
I
joined
the
mayor's
blue
ribbon
panel,
and
so
I
will
be
able
to
be
with
dr
schatz
on
that
and
bring
some
feedback
from
that
and
after
the
state
of
the
schools.
Last
week
over
the
weekend,
I
had
an
opportunity
to
talk
with
several
parents
and
that
participated.
They
were
very
impressed
with
it
very
impressed
with
the
staff
and
resource
people
that
we
had
there
and
got
some
really
really
nice
feedback
with
what
us
that
we're
doing
as
a
school
board
and
as
a
school.
So
great.
Q
I
visited
south
and
lewis
and
clark
yesterday
and
I
know
a
lot
more
about
phrasing.
Science
than
and
blood.
They
were
doing
blood,
so
I
feel
like
I
can
be
on
csi,
so
it
was.
It
was
interesting
and
I
got
to
go
around
all
of
the
kindergarten
through
fifth
grade
classrooms
and
they're
doing
a
fantastic
job.
A
Great,
thank
you
very
much
and
thanks
for
the
reminder
just
kudos
to
everyone.
Thank
you
for
all
board
members
to
for
showing
up
and
and
participating
and
to
all
the
staff
and
and
marie
and
dr
schatz
and
and
the
cabinet
and
everybody
who
put
together
an
amazing
state
of
the
district
event.
A
A
So
I
think
some
some
items
came
out
of
that
that
we
may
kind
of
pursue
further
in
in
learning
a
little
more,
but
I'm
very
grateful
to
fea
and
to
dr
schatz
for
some
good,
hard
work
and
some
good
discussions.
So
this
closes
that
matter.
A
I
would
like
to
call
your
attention
to
the
schedule
coming
up
on
november
17th,
both
the
school
liaison
visit
forms
are
due
and
whatever
feedback
the
forms
that
you
fill
out
from
the
conference
so
we'll
be
discussing
that
at
the
next
board
meeting.
But
you
know
all
of
your
more
detailed
feedback
goes
on
those
forms
so
that
we
can
have
a
better
way
of
really
sharing
that
information
with
each
other
and
what
we'll
be
discussing
might
be
anything
above
and
beyond
that.
A
So
that's
that's
really
kind
of
the
meat
of
of
what
you've
absorbed
from
these
different
experiences.
So
thanks
in
advance
for
for
filling
that
out-
and
that's
all
I
have
for
my
report
tonight-
our
next
meeting
is
november
22nd.
I
would
also
like
to
assure
anne
marie
that
we
will
miss
her
when
she
was
on
vacation.
