Description
Fargo Public Schools - Board of Education Meeting - Live Broadcast - April 11, 2017
A
A
B
You
very
much
once
a
month
or
so
we
have
the
opportunity
to
highlight
or
showcase
some
of
the
activities
and
and
programs
that
we
have
in
the
fargo
public
schools.
And
tonight
we
are
going
to
be
looking
at
and
hearing
from
some
students
and
teachers
around
our
deca
program
and
the
ga
company
projects,
as
students
have
the
opportunity
to
take
what
they
learn
in
the
classroom,
put
it
into
real
life
and
have
the
opportunity
then
tonight
to
share
with
you
some
of
their
successes
and
to
help
us
with
that.
C
C
Some
of
you
may
have
taken
courses
in
high
school
and
marketing
or
work
in
that
field,
but
marketing
is
around
us
in
everything
that
we
do
and
the
students
tonight
are
going
to
showcase
a
little
bit
of
the
marketing
curriculum,
with
the
focus
on
the
deca
projects
from
south
high
and
then
the
junior
achievement
program
called
ja
company,
which
mr
holland
will
share
a
little
more
with
you
about,
but
the
focus
is
on
the
students
tonight,
and
so
what
I
want
to
do
is
just
thank
them
for
coming
and
and
thank
you
for
giving
us
the
time
to
share
a
little
bit
about
their
story
and
their
hard
work.
C
C
We'll
start
out
with
a
south
high
project
from
the
deca
students
and
those
students
will
be
traveling
to
the
nationals
next
week
from
south
daviess
and
north
high
to
participate
in
some
of
the
events,
and
then
we
will
have
mr
holland
share
a
little
bit
about
ja
company
and
then
we'll
have
a
project
from
davies
and
then
we'll
have
a
project
from
fargo
north.
So
that
will
be
the
the
presentation
for
tonight.
Each
of
the
presentations
may
take
around
five
minutes
and
then
you'll
have
time
for
questions.
E
D
So
in
october,
our
marketing,
our
marketing
teacher
and
deca
advisor
mrs
smith,
introduced
us
to
the
topic
by
showing
us
a
documentary
called
just
eat
it,
and
so
it's
a
documentary
all
about
food
waste,
and
we
were
all
very
intrigued
by
the
issue,
and
so
that's
where
me
and
drew
began
our
project
studying
food
waste.
So
these
past
couple
months,
we've
just
done
various
activities
to
research
and
implement
solutions.
Regarding
the
topic.
E
We
first
began
with
secondary
research,
including
various
books,
articles
and
videos,
to
become
more
informed
on
the
issue.
We
also
met
with
megan
miradol,
a
co-founder
of
ugly
foods
of
the
north.
For
those
of
you
who
don't
know
ugly
ugly
foods
is
an
activist
group
who
holds
different
events
and
efforts
to
educate
members
of
our
community
on
food
waste
and
its
reduce
its
and
to
reduce
its
impact.
She
was
able
to
teach
us
a
lot
and
helped
us
throughout
various
steps
in
our
project.
D
So
from
there
we
began
conducting
primary
research
just
to
get
a
better
understanding
on
food
waste
in
our
community,
and
so
the
first
step
that
we
did
with
that
was
created
food
waste
logs,
which
we
passed
out
to
friends
and
family,
and
we
just
asked
that
they
record
all
the
food
they
wasted
over
seven
consecutive
days
and
we
received
about
like
26
logs
back
and
we
analyzed
the
data
to
find
the
average
of
how
much
food
was
wasted.
And
on
average
we
found
that
9.3
pounds
of
food
were
wasted
over
the
week.
E
So
our
decade
chapter
members
gathered
and
we
thought
of
ideas
on
how
we
could
get
our
school
involved
and
to
like
focus
on
their
views
on
food
waste
and
to
actually
like
realize
how
much
food
they're
wasting
and
what
they're
wasting.
So
we
thought
of
a
snapchat,
because
most
high
school
students
are
using
snapchat,
so
we
created
a
booth
at
the
lunch
runs
and
me
and
abby
sat
there,
and
people
came
up
to
our
booth
and
we
informed
them
like
what
our
project
was
all
about
and
what
we
wanted
them
to
participate
in.
E
E
What
would
you
say
like
a
reward,
so
people
that
kept
sending
in
their
food
for
seven
days
ended
up
getting
their
name
drawn,
to
win
our
certificate
to
the
school
store,
to
use
something
that
they'd
like,
and
we
found
that
over
100
students
did
add
us
on
snapchat
and
we
got
really
good
high
participation.
D
And
so
after
we
had
all
of
our
research
and
data
we
compiled
it
all
and
began
our
solution
phase
of
the
project
and
so
from
there.
We
just
looked
at
different
ways.
We
could
reduce
food
waste
in
our
community
and
we
found
that
the
first
step
to
doing
that
was
to
inform
people,
and
so
we
created
a
campaign
that
we
call
the
shop
smart
plan.
D
Smart
eat
smart
campaign
and
our
biggest
campaign
project
with
that
was
creating
these
reusable
t-shirt
bags,
which
drool
passed
around,
and
so
our
deca
chapter
got
together
and
we
created
these
reusable
bags,
which
we
passed
out
at
hornbackers
and,
as
you
can
see,
we
have
our
logo
and
slogan
printed
on
it,
as
well
as
a
card
attached
that
just
gives
more
information
on
the
top
on
the
topic.
Excuse
me.
E
So
one
of
the
areas
we
noticed
that
a
lot
of
food
waste
come
from
is
the
school.
So
we
met
with
cindy
hoganson
who's,
the
director
of
diet,
nutrition
at
fargo,
public
schools,
and
we
just
talked
to
her
about
the
issue
of
food
waste
in
our
schools
and
ways
that
we
can
start
reducing
food
waste
in
our
schools.
So
we're
hopefully
going
to
start
a
campaign
in
our
school
and
hopefully
it
will
spread
out
to
the
other
schools
and
hopefully
be
successful
on
our
plan.
D
D
We
got
a
good
look
into
procedure
and
management
of
businesses
and
also
got
introduced
to
different
leaders
and
business
people
throughout
the
area,
which
was
also
very
eye
opening,
and
then
we
got
to
practice
problem
solving
and
finding
creative
solutions
to
roadblocks
that
we
hadn't
experienced
before
and
so.
In
conclusion,
we
just
think
that
this
project-based
learning
has
really
helped
us
grow
and
developed
real
life
skills
that
we'll
be
able
to
use
later
on,
such
as
being
organized
and
working
as
a
team
and
problem
solving
so
yeah.
Thank
you.
D
Up
here
yeah,
this
is
actually
the
board
that
we
used
to
present
at
state.
So
we
took
our
project
and
we
wrote
a
30-page
paper
on
it
that
we
then
sent
into
deca,
and
we
competed
at
the
state
conference,
and
so
we
used
this.
We
have
a
15-minute
presentation
with
the
state
judges
and
then
we
moved
on
to
nationals
and
so
on
april
26
we'll
be
competing
in
anaheim,
so
yeah.
This
is.
E
On
the
back
side,
you'll
see
there's
a
swot
analysis.
We
used
for
our
project
just
to
kind
of
show
like
the
opportunities
that
we've
received
and
like
all
of
our
participation
and
then
in
the
center,
all
the
social
media,
so
ugly
foods
of
the
north
actually
posted
in
multiple
tweets
and
our
very
own
fargo
cell
deca
page
just
to
give
more
promotion
to
our
project
and
for
people
who
recognize
like
hey.
These
people
are
doing.
E
Food
waste
is
pretty
cool
and
then
on
the
bottom,
there's
just
some
goals
that
we
wanted
to
continue
with
our
project.
So
actually,
a
couple
weeks
ago,
we
went
to
claire
barton
and
worked
with
a
third
grade
classroom
on
food
waste,
so
that
was
pretty
cool
and
then
actually
on
may
8th.
We
were
invited
back
to
present
to
the
whole
entire
food
commission
to
talk
about
our
solutions
and
hopefully
get
something
going
in
the
city.
F
I
am
just
super
impressed
by
this.
I
wish
even
a
fraction
of
the
projects
that
I
work
on
in
my
company
were
close
to
this,
so.
D
D
We've
actually
sorry,
we've
read
different
things
about
that,
and
produce
tends
to
get
wasted
the
most
like
fruits
and
vegetables,
just
because
they
go
bad.
You
know
quicker
than
most
other
foods,
and
so
that's
also
something
we
noticed
a
lot
in
our
snapchat
in
the
schools.
We
noticed
a
lot
of
kids
at
lunch,
we're
more
tended
to
more
or
thrown
more
fruits
and
vegetables
away,
especially
those
who
have
to
take
the
fruits
and
vegetables,
but
don't
necessarily
want
them
a
lot
of
times.
Those
get
wasted.
The
most
in
schools
also.
H
D
They
actually
did
a
presentation
to
us
and
so
a
third
grade
class
at
claire
barton.
They
did
a
project
based
our
project-based
learning
also,
and
so
they
also
studied
food
waste
and
our
teachers
met
at
a
conference
and
we're
talking
about
how
they
both
had
students
working
on
food
waste,
and
so
they
invited
us
to
this.
Like
really
impressive
presentation
they
had
and
then
afterwards
we
went
and
we
sat
with
them
in
their
classroom
and
we
told
them
a
little
bit
about
our
work
too
so,
but
yeah
most
of
the
time.
D
A
I
Hi
there
excuse
me,
I'm
jason,
holland,
I'm
the
marketing
teacher
at
davies,
high
school
and
also
the
deck
advisor,
and
I'm
here
today
to
talk
a
little
bit
about
junior
achievement
and
introduce
our
students
as
a
marketing
teacher,
we're
always
looking
for
project-based
learning.
Looking
for
authentic
learning
experiences
for
kids,
the
construction,
crews,
they
have
the
or
the
construction
departments,
they've
got
the
ability
to
work
on
houses,
the
automotive
departments
they
can
work
on
cars,
the
marketing
departments.
I
We
should
be
working
on
authentic
entrepreneurial
experiences,
so
we
were
approached
by
junior
achievement
of
the
midwest
to
implement
junior
achievement
company
program
into
our
classroom
two
years
ago,
and
so
this
we're
on
our
second
year
north
and
south,
decided
to
do
junior
achievement
company
program
in
their
departments
as
well
this
year,
and
so
the
kids
have
have,
I
believe,
enjoyed
it.
It's
a
it's,
a
real
experience.
I
They
get
checking
accounts,
they
write
their
expenses
for
the
the
products
or
whatever
they
need
for
their
company
and
at
the
end
they
actually
pay
out
their
payout
dividends
to
their
company
members.
At
the
end,
in
fact,
we
were
partnering
with
ndsu,
because
dr
tim
peterson,
there
is
really
involved
with
a
gallup
poll,
so
he
gave
all
of
our
students
a
free
entrepreneurial
strengths
finder.
So
every
kid
in
our
classroom
is
put
into
departments
whether
it's
management,
leadership,
finance
marketing
and
today
you're,
going
to
hear
from
the
management
and
leadership
team.
I
So
part
of
the
reason
we
did.
That
was
to
provide
that
authentic
experience
and
then
also
it
matches
the
the
four
c's
that
we've
been
looking
for
in
fargo
public
schools
and
it
also
matches
with
our
state
and
national
standards
too.
So
we've
we
teach
the
the
same
curriculum
that
we've
always
taught,
but
at
the
same
time
we've
replaced
our
business
plan.
Our
mock
business
plan
that
we
used
to
do
with
a
real,
authentic
entrepreneurial
experience.
So
that's
exciting
for
us.
J
Hi,
all
my
name
is
lauren
lewis
and
I'm
from
simply
bracelets
at
davies
high
school,
and
I
want
you
to
brace
yourself
for
simply
bracelets,
so
our
our
company
was
made
up
of
15
students
and
we
split
these
15
students
into
five
different
teams:
the
management
team,
the
supply
chain,
the
marketing
team,
the
sales
team
and
the
finance
team.
Each
of
these
teams
had
a
team
lead
who
oversaw
all
of
their
duties
and
responsibilities
as
a
team.
J
Each
team
also
had
different
duties
and
responsibilities
that
pertain
to
their
department,
and
each
of
these
departments
came
together
for
the
well-being
of
our
overall
company
some
information
about
our
company.
We
formed
the
mission
statement
to
unite
high
school
students
through
colorful
and
affordable
bracelets.
We
chose
bracelets
as
our
product
because
a
high
school
is
the
epitome
of
trend
following
we
know
that
students
like
to
be
on
trend
and
follow
what
everyone
else
does.
So
we
decided
that
bracelets
would
be
a
good
way
to
do
this.
J
We
also
figured
out
that
no
retailer
in
the
fm
area
sells
bracelets
of
this
price
and
style.
So
after
we
decided
bracelets
as
our
product,
we
ordered
200
of
them
for
from
dhgate.com
in
varying
colors,
so
some
self-analysis
and
background
of
our
company,
I'm
the
ceo
of
our
company
and
our
vertical
organization
structure,
helped
us
to
organize
tasks
throughout
the
company,
so
each
team
reported
to
the
management
team
overall,
but
then,
within
their
departments,
like
I
said
earlier,
they
reported
to
their
team
lead.
J
We
also
had
a
collaborative
work
structure
which
made
the
vertical
organization
easier,
because,
although
each
team
member
had
to
report
someone
higher
than
them,
everyone
got
a
say
in
the
decisions
of
our
company,
so
our
capitalization
method
was
that
each
team
member
donated
five
dollars
so
that
we
could
get
our
business
off
the
ground.
Our
employee,
employee
motivation
was
that
the
money
would
be
repaid
to
each
of
the
company
members
at
the
end
and
hopefully
add
on
a
little
profit
to
their
paycheck.
J
Our
social
responsibility
plan
was
to
donate
a
percentage
of
profits
to
a
charity
and
that
charity
we
decided
was
the
eagle
cupboard,
which
is
an
organization
within
our
school
that
helps
students
in
need
when
they
need
food
or
other
items
that
they
can't
afford.
The
separation
plan
for
our
company
was
to
sell
our
extra
product
in
the
school
store
after
the
junior
achievement
program
was
over
and
to
write
checks
to
everyone
with
the
profit
made
once
we
liquidate
our
company.
So
our
product
came
in
on
february,
19,
2017.
K
J
J
So
our
promotional
plan
came
into
play
mostly
with
social
media.
We
focused
on
twitter
as
our
main
channel
of
promotion.
We
tweeted
tweets
letting
students
know
when
our
product
came
what
our
product
was
about
stuff,
like
that,
we
also
used
instagram
of
our
company
members
to
show
off
the
bracelets
so
that
other
students
would
see
that
students
are
wearing
them
and
they
would
want
them
as
well.
We
implemented
a
school
announcement
on
our
morning,
announcements
which,
just
let
students
know
that
we
were
selling
the
bracelets
in
the
eagle
landing
throughout
the
school
year.
J
We
also
hung
up
signage
around
the
school,
letting
students
know
about
our
product
and
our
biggest
promotional
activity
was
a
scavenger
hunt
where
we
put
clues
around
the
school
leading
up
to
a
free
bracelet.
These
are
some
pictures
that
we
took
after
our
winner
found
the
bracelet
and
her
friend
wanted
to
be
in
them
too.
J
J
So
we
decided
that
we
wanted
to
implement
marketing
research
to
find
out
how
our
customers
were
reacting
to
our
product.
So
we
sent
out
a
prospective
customer
survey
which
got
18
responses.
One
of
the
questions
being
is
three
dollars:
a
good
price
for
a
bracelet
half
of
the
students
said
no
half
said
yes,
so
we
changed
the
price
to
one
dollar
after
we
sold
100
bracelets
to
appeal
to
more
customers
and
to
help
the
liquidation
process.
We
then
sent
out
a
previous
customer
survey
which
gained
19
responses.
That
asked.
J
Do
you
like
your
simply
bracelet
and
all
of
the
responses
said?
Yes,
so
the
pricing
of
our
bracelets?
We
bought
the
bracelets
for
14
cents
per
bracelet
and
sold
them
for
three
dollars.
Each
we
sold
100
at
three
dollars
each
and
then
after
we
implemented
our
marketing
research,
we
decided
to
bring
it
down
to
one
dollar
and
we
have
sold
73.
So
far
at
the
one
dollar
price.
J
At
the
beginning
of
our
company,
we
decided
that
the
project
rev
projected
revenue
would
be
600
and
the
projected
net
income
after
taxes
and
donations
would
be
467
dollars
and
our
total
sales.
As
of
april,
7th
2017
were
373
dollars,
so
in
conclusion,
we
learned
many
skills
that
will
be
beneficial
to
us
in
our
future
business
endeavors.
We
learned
business
skills
such
as
marketing
and
management.
J
We
learned
relationship
skills
such
as
how
to
work
with
other
members
that
you
maybe
wouldn't
want
to
normally
work
with
and
how
to
report
up
to
a
higher
power
within
your
company.
We
also
learned
money
management
skills
such
as
capitalization
methods
and
gaining
capital
from
each
of
our
company
members.
We
and
the
biggest
skill
we
learned
was
accountability
for
ourselves
and
our
company.
F
Again,
super
impressive:
have
you
worked
in
a
job.
J
J
I
One
thing
I
forgot
to
mention
was
that
these
students
are
going
to
be
competing
at
ndsu
on
thursday.
All
the
metro
schools
are
going
to
compete
in
also
west
fargo
and
cheyenne
and
they're
going
to
present
these
these
presentations.
They
are
limited
to
four
minutes
four
minute
presentations,
so
they
would
have
a
lot
more
to
share,
but
what
they
have
is
what
they
have
with
that
and
it's
the
next
group
that's
going
to
be
presenting
is
ayla
and
kelly
from
fargo
north.
N
N
And
then
we
put
pre-orders
in
the
school
store
for
two
dollars
each
and
then
we
didn't
get
too
many
that.
But
then
we
also
advertised
around
the
school
using
posters
that
we
made
ourselves.
And
then
we
created
social
media
accounts
such
as
facebook,
twitter,
instagram,
and
we
made
a
youtube
and
then
we
sold
at
popular
school
events
like
previously.
N
N
M
All
right,
so
I
was
part
of
the
supply
chain
chain
team,
so
we
placed
the
order
on
february
10
2017
and
we
received
the
order.
Four
days
later,
on
february
14th
we
took
inventory
on
the
200
air
fresheners
just
to
make
sure
they
were
intact
and
ready
to
sell
air
fresheners
were
sold
at
various
school
events.
M
M
They
formulated
a
sales
plan
with
goals
and
they
sent
out
order
forms
through
school
emails
to
students,
so
students
who
would
like
to
have
an
air
fresher.
They
would
just
fill
it
out
and
then
we
could
send
it
directly
to
them
and
they
were
also
responsible
for
sales
and
interactions
with
customers
just
to
make
sure
if
there
were
any
problems
we
needed
to
take
care
of
and
any
other
feedback
that
the
customers
gave
to
us.
N
N
M
Okay,
we
would
like
to
thank
you
for
this
time
and
an
opportunity
to
answer
any
questions
you
have.
A
F
F
N
There
was
definitely
a
lot
more
arguing
than
I
thought
I
mean
you
have
11
students
and
you
have
one
thing
to
do.
Everyone
has
different
ideas
and
you
all
want
kind
of
like
what
you
you
want
so
initially,
or
we
ended
up
all
kind
of
taking
a
vote
usually
or
like
talking
it
out
and
then
agreeing.
Sometimes
we
had
to
get
our
teacher
in
there,
but.
A
C
I
would
just
like
to
say
thank
you
for
your
time.
It
was
great
some
of
the
teachers
that
could
not
be
here.
First
of
all,
thanks
to
the
student
and
mr
holland
for
coming.
I
know
the
other
three
teachers
kelly
erickson,
craig
erickson
and
sarah
they're,
not
only
teachers
in
the
classroom
and
advisors
beyond
the
classroom,
but
there
are
also
coaches
and
weight
trainers
and
they
have
track
meets
so
they
couldn't
be
here
tonight,
but
they
really
wanted
their
students
to
share
the
story
from
their
school
and
represent
their
school.
A
Thank
you.
Thanks
to
all
the
students
and
dr
schatz,
you
have
any
final
thoughts.
O
Well,
I
would
just
say
that
we're
really
blessed
in
our
school
district
to
have
the
outstanding
instructors
that
we
have.
I
don't
think
people
realize
how
hard
it
is
to
find
a
marketing
teacher
at
a
high
school
level,
and
I
had
the
opportunity
to
bring
jason
with
me
to
davies
when
we
opened
it.
I
know
sarah
over
at
south-
and
I
also
know
the
erickson's
up
at
north
and
we're
very,
very
lucky
to
have
that
quality
of
instructor.
O
I
got
to
tell
you
in
in
the
world
today
when
we
talk
about
the
state
of
public
education,
and
you
see
the
result
of
what
we
see
in
front
of
us.
There's
no
doubt
in
my
mind
that
we're
not
failing
and
that
we
have
some
really
outstanding
students
and
great
instructors.
So
thank
you
to
all
of
you
and
keep
up
the
good
work.
A
P
P
We
are
under
number
five
on
our
strategic
plan,
so
we
are
here
to
present
to
you
tonight.
We
do
have
some
members
of
our
team
here.
Betsy
and
kirby
are
here
with
me,
for
those
of
you
might
not
know
them
as
part
of
the
communications
team.
You
do
have
a
written
report
that
you
were
given
ahead
of
time
tonight.
P
I'll
highlight
some
of
the
things
that
are
within
there,
but
if
you
have
any
questions
about
the
report
happy
to
take
those
when
we're
through,
we
do
have
four
members
of
our
team
in
the
communications
team.
I
lead
our
team.
I
primarily
work
with
the
media.
As
far
as
my
role
on
the
team
betsy
does
a
lot
of
our
community
relations.
She
answers
a
lot
of
calls
and
a
lot
of
emails
that
come
into
us
here
at
the
district
office.
She
is
really
our
project
manager
working
on
our
publications
and
our
ads.
P
She
provides
backup
support
for
me
as
well.
Lisa,
unfortunately,
was
not
able
to
join
us
tonight,
but
she
really
focuses
on
our
marketing.
She
does.
A
lot
of
our
writing
spends
a
lot
of
time
working
on
things
of
that
nature.
Our
news
releases,
our
social
media,
those
type
of
things
and
then
kirby,
while
kirby
doesn't
report
directly
to
me.
We
are
an
inclusive
communications
team.
He
reports
to
it,
but
he
is
our
web
services
person.
He
does
our
internet
and
our
our
intra
net.
P
Also
because
it's
a
lot,
it
ends
up
being
a
lot
of
things
that
we
send
out
and
we
don't
want
to
start
competing
with
ourselves
as
well
with
the
things
that
we're
putting
out
there
for
the
media
to
come
in
and
do
stories
on.
So
we
did
set
that
threshold
at
200
for
this
year,
which
it
looks
like
we
will
will
make
and
exceed
again.
But
one
thing
we
wanted
to
focus
on
more
this
year
was
to
get
our
coverage
right
up.
As
you
can
see.
P
P
It
has
been
78,
and
so
we
wanted
to
work
on
that
really
focus
on
making
sure
the
things
that
we
send
out
are
the
things
that
get
covered
and
the
things
that
the
media
would
like
to
to
do
stories
on
now
we
aren't
tracking,
like
we
have
in
the
past
what
we
are
analyzing
that,
as
is
there's
a
lot
of
things
going
on
in
this
world
right
now
in
in
this
area,
in
this
region,
nationally,
with
the
election
things
of
that
nature,
and
so
right
now
we
are
a
little
bit
lower
than
we've
been
tracking.
P
Historically,
we
are
trying
to
get
that
up,
but
we
know
that
there's
a
lot
of
things
that
happen
on
any
given
day
that
some
of
that's
out
without
our
control,
but
we
are
analyzing
the
the
news
releases.
We
do
send
out
we're
looking
at
past
history,
if
there's
something
we've
sent
out
for
a
couple
years
and
quite
frankly,
it's
not
getting
covered.
Then
we
make
some
decisions.
P
This
is
where
we're
tracking
right
now.
As
far
as
our
news
releases
by
month,
you
can
see
that
almost
every
month
this
year
is
tracking
higher
than
last
year
or
previous
years.
So
again
we
are
doing
well
on
getting
things
out.
If
lisa
was
here,
she'd
tell
you
that
we've
sent
out
a
lot
of
releases
this
year
that
are
new
events
that
we
hadn't
covered
in
the
past.
Some
that
were
new
for
the
year
or
maybe
we
just
found
out
about
them
and
they've
been
doing
them
for
a
few
years.
P
P
We
had
two
items
this
year
included
in
the
large
operational
plan,
which
you
guys
approved
in
september,
and
one
of
that
one
of
those
was
the
vote.
As
you
know,
in
march,
and
for
about
eight
months
it
was
the
focus
of
myself
and
our
team
to
prepare
for
that
to
get
items
ready
for
our
vote
for
our
educational
campaign
about
the
vote.
P
P
We
had
two
longer
videos
and
then
six
short
videos
that
were
on
the
site
that
we
used
and
we
pushed
out
via
social
media.
We
also
had
powerpoints
that
we
developed
we
sent
out
news
releases.
We
did
a
lot
of
social
media
posts.
Betsy
and
lisa
really
worked
on
our
social
media.
During
the
campaign
information
campaign
for
the
vote,
we
had
specific
fact
fridays
and
testimony
tuesdays
that
were
attributed
with
the
vote,
so
we
worked
really
hard
on
our
communications.
P
During
that
time
we
had
a
very
active
time
on
social
media.
During
the
vote,
we
had
a
lot
of
shares,
a
lot
of
people
tuning
in
to
the
things
that
we
were
putting
out.
So
we
are
happy
with
the
way
that
turned
out
and
obviously
with
the
vote.
In
the
end,
we
are
taking
some
of
the
videos
that
we
made
for
the
vote
and
increasing
the
lifespan
of
those
we're
just
going
to
edit
those
slightly
and
be
able
to
use
them
in
some
other
ways
as
well.
P
So
that's
what
we're
working
on
now
to
just
retool
those
a
little
and
be
able
to
use
those
in
other
ways
as
well
last
year,
when
we
did
our
report,
it
wasn't
too
long
after
we
had
redesigned
our
website.
If
you
remember
last
fall
a
year
ago,
last
fall.
We
had
spent
time
redesigning
switching
over
the
platform
and
then
launched
a
new
website
in
january
of
2016..
P
So
now
it's
been
a
full
year
since
we've
had
that
website.
We
just
want
to
the
stats,
are
included
in
your
report,
but
just
a
couple
things
we
wanted
to
touch
on
with
you
tonight.
This
is
like
an
eight
month
shot
of
the
total
visits
to
our
entire
site
and
kirby
will
correct
me
if
I
misspeak
with
any
of
these,
so
we
just
want
to
kind
of
give
you
a
gauge
of
how
many
total
visits
we've
had
on
the
entire
site.
Over
that
time,
you
can
kind
of
see
those
high
months.
P
P
Also
interesting
is
the
employment
section
you
can
see
august
and
march
are
our
high
months
in
this
eight
month
view
that
would
coordinate
with
the
times
that
we
are
putting
out
the
the
most
job
descriptions
and
job
postings
it'll
be
interesting
as
we
go
forward
into
the
summer
to
see
how
that
trends.
As
well
for
us,
similarly
with
registration,
you
can
see
in
august
that's
what
a
lot
of
our
community
is
looking
to
register
children.
Also,
the
next
highest
month
is
february,
which
is
also
the
month
that
we
push
kindergarten
registration.
P
P
We
were
going
to
show
that
to
you
live
because
that
little
section
where
it
says
right
now
that
that's
a
live
feature
and
when
you're
in
that
program,
you
can
see
it
fluctuate,
we're
going
to
show
that
to
you
live,
but
we
did
check
it
at
about
this
time
of
night
and
it's
not
really
them
a
high
number
for
us.
You
know
dinner
out
or
people
moving
to
and
from
work,
so
we
did
just
grab
a
screenshot
of
it.
P
P
We
have
been
working
on
that
review
and
we
have
forwarded
the
42
administration
to
do
a
redesign
of
our
end
of
our
internet
of
our
employee
portal,
which
has
gained
administrative
approval.
To
do
we
plan
to
put
that
on
the
operational
plan
for
next
year.
It
will
be
a
similar
process
that
we
went
through
for
the
redesign
of
our
website,
we'll
be
changing
platforms,
doing
an
upgrade
with
the
back
end
portion,
we'll
redesign
that
we'll
have
to
migrate
information
over
and
do
that
whole
process
again.
P
F
Thank
you.
I
want
to
say
the
the
vote
2017
campaign
that
you
guys
did
was
awesome,
really
good.
I
think
it
was
a
major
factor
in
the
success
of
the
vote.
So
thank
you
for
all
the
work
you
did
on
that
and
one
thing
that
I'm
happy
to
see
continue
from
that
are
the
testimony
tuesdays
and
the
fact
fridays
on
facebook.
I
love
those
I
like
sharing
those
and,
along
with
that
and
the
press
releases
and
the
other
social
media
posts.
F
I'm
I'm
really
happy
that
you
you're
doing
such
a
good
job
with
that
it
makes
it
really
easy
to
share
the
successes
of
our
district
and
get
that
out
there,
and
it's
not
just
word
of
mouth,
it's
a
little
bit
more,
a
little
more,
it's
personal.
You
do
a
really
professional
job
with
it
and
I'm
really
happy
with
the
direction
you've
gone
with
all
of
those
so
not
as
much
a
question
as
thank
you
and
good
work.
P
Well,
thank
you
and-
and
that's
really
needs
to
go
to
the
team
as
well,
because
betsy
and
lisa
and
kirby
are
integral
in
that
process.
So
it's
definitely
a
team
effort
and
also
not
just
us
but
into
our
buildings
as
well,
because
we
wouldn't
be
able
to
share
those
things
if
they
didn't
tell
us
about
them.
So
we
work
on
that
every
day
reach
out
to
people.
K
I
don't
really
have
a
question
either
just
also
a
thank
you
and-
and
more
of
you
know
been
here
a
long
time
and
seen
this
element
of
our
district
evolve
over
all
those
years,
and
it
really
is
a
great
team
that
you
have
that
works
together
for
a
great
goal,
and
I
think
the
district
is
far
better
off
now
than
we
were
10
11
12
years
ago
in
all
of
our
communication
tools,
and
I
know
that
some
of
those
weren't
in
existence
or
used
to
the
same
degree
generally,
but
I
do
think
that
it
as
a
board
member
who,
when
I
first
came
on,
we
used
to
worry
about.
K
A
Anyone
else
I'll,
just
oh
jim,
did
you.
G
L
G
G
F
Link
to
one
more
thing,
I
did
have
a
question
that
I
totally
forgot
about
from
looking
at
this
earlier
this
week
with
the
with
the
press
releases
in
particular.
What
I
I'm
really
impressed-
and
you
mentioned
that
you
depend
on
the
schools
to
tell
you
what's
going
on,
but
you
do
do
a
good
job
of
finding
out
across
our
district
in
every
building
across
our
grades.
F
What's
going
on,
and
I
think
that's
so
important
to
read
and
enforce
in
our
community
that
we're
one
fargo
public
school
district
and
we're
not
a
bunch
of
different
buildings,
a
bunch
of
different,
uncoordinated
things.
We
have
a
lot
going
on
and
it's
in
a
lot
of
it's
good
and
we're
able
to
share
that.
So
I
appreciate
that
continued
focus
as
well
to
make
sure
that
all
of
that
is
reflected.
P
P
We
have
missed
for
a
little
bit
and
then
we
reach
out
to
them
directly
to
see
what
might
be
coming
up
we've,
given
them
a
goal
to
hit
by
year.
You
know
how
many
we'd
like
to
see
each
elementary
middle
school
and
high
school
to
hit,
and
then
I
do
communicate
with
those
principals
with
the
ones
that
are
are
doing
great.
P
You
know
if
they're
leading
the
pack
we
let
them
know,
I
call
them
and
tell
them
thank
you
to
to
them
and
their
team
for
letting
us
know
things
that
are
happening,
reach
out
to
those
ones
that
we
might
haven't
heard
from
for
a
while,
and
we
need
to
get
a
few
more
things.
So
we
we
work
with
them
and
lisa
reaches
out
to
lots
of
people
in
the
buildings.
P
You
know
we
work
with
our
librarians
our
administrative
assistants,
some
of
those
that
kind
of
have
the
pulse
and
know
what
might
be
going
on
out
there
that
sometimes
they
don't
remember
to
tell
us
or
somebody
doesn't
want
to
share,
and
we
just
try
to
see.
Okay,
what's
going
on,
we'll
do
all
the
leg
work.
Lisa
is
always
good
about
saying
you
just
tell
me
what
it
is
I'll
go
find
out
everything
that's
going
to
happen,
but
we
just
need
to
know
what's
happening,
so
we
can
feature
it.
P
Sometimes
it
might
not
be
the
most
appropriate
to
send
a
news
release
on
what's
happening
in
a
classroom
or
in
a
building
just
depending
on
the
situation
so
and
if
we
don't
get
a
news
release
out
we'll
feature
it
on
social
media
or
put
in
the
newsletter
or
you
know
if
we
have
a
picture
we'll
do
something
with
that
picture.
So
you
know
it
just
depends
on
each
situation.
How
we're
going
to
feature
that
that
item.
A
We
were
singing
your
praises
had
a
meeting
with
former
mayor
furnace
this
morning
and
he
had
served
on
the
previous
citizens
committee
three
years
ago
on
the
previous
mill
levy
vote
and
he
was
just
full
of
compliments
to
the
way
the
whole
campaign
was
put
together,
the
in
from
the
way
the
information
came
out
and
the
materials
and
and
youtube
doctor
shots
for
taking
such
an
energetic
lead
on
that.
So
you
were,
you
were
being
bragged
on
this
morning.
So
congratulations
to
everybody
and
thank
you
for
the
amazing
work
you
do
all
year.
G
I
shared
this
at
planning,
but
not
all
the
board
was
out
planning,
not
all
of
the
cabinet
was
at
planning
and
certainly
not
the
public
via
television,
but
we
recently
received
notification
that
the
board
of
education
of
the
city
of
fargo,
that
would
be
the
nine
of
us-
have
received
an
award
now
that's
kind
of
surprising,
because
I'm
not
sure
what
any
of
the
nine
of
us
did
to
get
an
award.
But
we
did
receive
the
association
of
school
business
officials,
international
certificate
of
excellence
for
financial
reporting.
G
This
is
the
13th
year
in
a
row.
Fargo
public
schools
has
received
this
honor.
It
is
from
a
third
party
organization
that
monitors
school
districts
across
the
entire
country.
It
confirms
that
our
school
district's
business
office
is
committed
to
financial
accountability
and
transparency
and
to
receive
the
award.
The
school
district
must
satisfy
specific
guidelines
for
effective
high
quality
financial
reported
reporting
recognized
by
school
business
officials
nationwide.
G
So
I
want
to
give
a
big
shout
out
on
behalf
of
the
board,
who
got
an
award
to
the
team
that
actually
does
the
work,
and
that
would
be
brock
and
the
rest
of
the
finance
team
upstairs
which
I
would
sure
all
of
their
names
gonna,
but
I'm
gonna
miss
somebody
so
I'll
leave
that
to
brock.
Q
Q
Certainly
well,
thank
you.
I
appreciate
that
both
at
planning
and
here
and
I
will
pass
that
along
to
our
entire
finance
team,
because
we
have
a
marvelous
one.
We
just
recently
had
the
third
member
of
our
team,
complete
the
cpa,
exam
and
passed,
so
we
have
three
sitting
cpas
on
our
accounting
team,
which
is
phenomenal
for
an
organization
like
ours,
so
I
certainly
will
pass
that
along
and
thank
you
all
for
that
legislative
update.
Q
It's
really
it's
crunch
time
and
we're
down
to
basically
two
things
that
we
are
staying
on
top
of,
and
I
sent
those
out
to
the
board
this
morning.
1361
is
the
bill
that
would
make
an
effort
to
cap
property
tax
increases
at
3
percent
of
the
prior
year
collection.
It
does
allow
for
new
growth,
but
it
does
limit
anything
on
existing
growth
or
any
increases
to
3
percent,
and
so
that
bill
I
was
out
to
testify.
I
talked
to
you
about
that
a
few
weeks
ago.
Q
It
is
scheduled
for
the
senate
floor
during
the
one
o'clock
session
tomorrow
afternoon,
so
we
will
see
how
that
happens.
The
bill
has
been
amended
significantly
as
I
sent
out
to
you
it's
for
all
intent
and
purposes
being
rewritten,
and
so
it
still
would
allow
for
a
three
percent
cap,
but
it
really
changed
the
process
of
how
that
cap
would
happen.
Q
I
will
plan
to
watch
that,
if
I
can
tomorrow
afternoon
and
then
we'll
see
what
the
update
looks
like
from
there,
the
other
bill
is
1013,
which
is
really
the
dpi
funding
bill.
13
24
we've
talked
about,
which
is
really
the
the
funding
formula
and
the
factors,
but
1013
is
the
bill
that
has
the
money
in
it
that
funds
k-12
education
just
before
I
got
here
this
evening,
amy
kopis
from
ndcel,
provided
me
with
an
update.
Q
I
have
not
had
a
chance
to
go
through
it
with
a
fine-tooth
comb,
but
it
really
is
the
most
recent
amendments
that
have
been
put
into
1013
the
things
we're
watching
closest.
Of
course,
we
know
that
the
foundation
aid
formula
remains
flat
at
96.46
for
the
next
two
years,
as
we've
talked
about
many
times,
flat
does
not
mean
held
harmless
because,
as
you
know,
we
have
a
local
deduct
in
the
formula
and
as
the
deduct
goes
up,
that
means
you
get
less
state
funds.
Q
So,
if
the,
if
the
9646
remains
flat,
you
have
to
try
to
make
up
that
deduct
by
growth
in
students
and
of
course
we
are
a
growing
district,
but
not
to
that
level,
and
and
we'll
talk
more
about
that
as
the
as
the
bill
makes
its
way
through
the
final
stages.
The
the
other
things
we're
watching
in
that
bill
is
the
potential
reduction
of
transportation
right
now
that
sits
at
a
three
percent
reduction
as
introduced.
It
had
called
for
a
10
reduction.
Q
The
appropriations
committee
excuse
me
the
first
senate
ad
and
then
ultimately,
appropriations
put
back
just
over
five
million
dollars
into
the
transportation
appropriation,
but
did
reduce
it
by
1.6
million
dollars,
and
so
it's
a
three
percent
reduction
across
the
board.
But
of
course,
transportation
is
funded
on
miles
total
miles,
traveled
and
a
reimbursable
rate,
and
so
larger
districts
are
going
to
have
more
miles.
So
as
we
see
that-
and
I
get
the
update
go
through
it
from
amy-
understand
that
it's
not
just
our
current
state
number
for
transportation
minus
three
percent.
Q
We
are
approximately
ten
percent
of
the
overall
transportation
piece,
that's
funded
through
the
states
purely
because
of
size
and
the
number
of
routes,
so
the
larger
districts
will
have
that.
So
we'll
take
a
look
at
that
and
then
the
pass-through
grants
that
we've
talked
to
you
about
and
there
have
been
reductions
and
and
amy
again
just
sent
that
we'll
take
a
look
at
what
those
are
and
I'll
make
sure
to
get
that
out
to
you.
So
you
get
all
the
particulars
she
sent
it
out.
I
believe
to
the
administrator
group.
Q
Q
They
tried,
as
we've
said
before,
they
wanted
to
get
done
within
70
days
to
give
themselves
some
room
if
they
have
to
go
back.
I
don't
think
they're
going
to
hit
that,
but
I
there's
a
lot
of
speculation.
They
could
be
done
shortly
after
easter
and
that
would
give
them
some
additional
time
should
they
need
to
go
back,
but
we'll
just
continue
to
monitor
it.
We're
in
constant
communication
with
bismarck
right
now.
There's
a
lot
is
going
on
behind
the
scenes.
R
Q
Q
So
you
know,
certainly
I
think
you
have
to
decide
as
a
board
what
you
want
to
do
in
that
regard.
I
think
we
it's
a
double-edged
sword.
Currently,
we
have
been
removed
from
the
bill
because
of
all
the
moving
parts
that
affected
the
funding
formula
and
how
the
sales
tax
or
excuse
me
how
the
property
tax
impacts
that
so
one
approach
is
to
let
a
sleeping
dog
lie.
The
other
approach
is
certainly
to
support
your
local
entities.
I
know
that
effort
is
going
on
very
much
in
earnest
with
those
other
three
entities.
A
I
I
my
personal,
I
I
read
that,
and
you
know,
thought
you
know
who
who
my
assigned
legislators
were,
and
I
I
kind
of
erred
on
the
side
of
caution
on
that
one.
I
thought
we've
we've
been
in
the
public
with
our
issue
so
strongly
this
year
that
I
I
thought
it
wiser
to
let
let
the
others
carry
at
this
time,
but
that
was
just
my
own
personal
feeling,
dr
schatz,
you
had
something.
O
R
A
Appreciate
it,
thank
you.
Anyone
else
have
any
questions
or
comments.
A
Well,
as
always,
thank
you
so
much
for
not
only
keeping
such
close
track,
but
giving
it
context
and
giving
your
insight
as
well
appreciate
that
and
thanks
rebecca
for
being
in
on
those
friday
calls
at
this
point.
We
have
it
in
our
agenda
for
a
positive
possible
executive
session.
S
A
It's
been
moved
and
seconded
to
move
into
executive
session
for
the
purpose
of
negotiation
strategy
anne-marie.
If
you
would
call
roll
please.

Motion
a

the
items
on
the

agenda.
All
in

say:
aye

opposed
same
motion
carried
you're
in
the
business
portion
of
our
agenda.
Bob
gross
since
brandi
ani
is
absent.
If
you
could
zip
us
through
the
calendar.
B
Certainly,
thank
you
very
much
attached
to
that
agenda
item
is
the
calendar,
or
at
least
the
draft
calendar.
The
committee,
which
was
22
people,
met
on
four
different
occasions
to
talk
through
some
of
the
different
issues.
Basically,
what
needs
to
be
in
our
school
calendar,
the
175
student
contact
days,
the
five
holidays,
seven
professional
development
days,
the
four
parent
teacher
conference
days
and
at
least
two
storm
makeup
days.
B
What
we
did
on
the
first
meeting
is
really
came
together
to
talk
about
the
norms,
how
we're
going
to
act
as
a
committee,
we
also
determined
how
we
would
come
up
with
consensus,
because
we
knew
a
group
of
22
it'd
be
hard
to
get
a
hundred
percent
agreeing
one
way
or
the
other,
and
the
committee
decided
when
we
were
at
80
percent
of
the
committee
members
saying
yes
to
a
draft,
we
would
move
that
forward.
B
B
That
was
part
of
the
survey
that
we
asked
of
all
of
those
groups
and
every
one
of
those
groups
said
they
would
like
to
see
a
calendar
with
that
it
was
varying
the
percentage
one
way
or
the
other
parents
being
the
closest
percentage.
But
there
was
a
more
parent
saying
yes,
rather
than
no.
So
with
that,
I
would
open
to
any
questions
that
you
might
have,
hopefully,
that
you
can
look
at
this
and
move
it
forward
with
an
actionable
item.
The
last
thing
I'll
say
is
this
was
presented
to
the
city
pta.
B
That,
as
I
quickly
pull
up
that
calendar
to
make
sure
that
I
give
you
accurate
information
for
17-18,
what
we
have
for
a
spring
break
is
a
thursday
friday
of
no
contact
and
then
the
next
monday
is
a
professional
development
day.
So
for
families,
it's
a
little
bit
longer
for
staff.
A
little
bit
shorter.
R
So
we're
so
by
doing
that
we're
kind
of
modeling
what
we
did
because
this
year
we
have
that
we
had
the
week-long
spring
break,
so
in
1819
we'll
have
if
we
approve
this
the
week-long
spring
break.
But
last
year
we
had
a
shorter
break
similar
to
what
we'll
have
in
the
17
18
school
year.
So
we're
basically
following
the
wishes
of,
because
we've
done
this
survey
before
too,
where
it's
kind
of
like
half
and
half
in
terms
of
preference.
So
we're
basically
continuing
to
follow
the
wishes
of
those
surveyed
right.
B
Yes,
through
the
calendar
committee,
we
had
conversations
because
the
parent
group
was
the
closest
on
the
percentage
who
wanted
a
spring
break
or
not
a
full
week
that
being
about
53
percent,
said
yes,
based
on
that
the
calendar
committee
each
and
every
year
said,
should
we
think
about
an
every
other
year
rotation.
B
G
H
H
B
During
the
survey,
we
asked
a
question
for
all
of
those
groups
to
rank
in
order
their
preference,
which
would
be
starting
in
august,
which
would
mean
most
likely
an
end
date
by
may
starting
in
august,
with
more
breaks
so
that
we
would
then
extend
into
june
or
starting
in
september,
which
would
most
likely
mean
ending
in
june
and
in
all
cases
across
parents,
teachers
and
students.
The
number
one
response
was
starting
in
august
and
try
to
be
done
in
may
now,
because
it
was
a
ranked
order.
S
S
U
A
Yes,
thank
you
and
thank
you
for
all
your
good
work.
That's
not
an
easy
one!
Discovery
middle
school
assessment-
jim!
You
want
to
start
start
that
one
off.
G
Yep
planning
is
bringing
a
recommendation
to
the
board
this
evening
that
we
authorize
our
administration
to
proceed
with
conducting
a
feasibility
study
and
potential
design
and
cost
estimates
for
some
upgrades
over
at
discovery
middle
school
just
to
kind
of
highlight
at
a
10
000
foot
level.
G
In
particular,
the
music
end
of
things
at
discovery
are
currently
holding
classes
actually
in
the
auditorium,
because
we
do
not
have
enough
classroom
space
for
the
music
program,
that's
going
on
at
discovery.
We
also
know
that
the
cafeteria
area
is
extremely
tight,
especially
based
upon
the
population.
That's
now
at
that
school
and
continues
to
look
like
it
will
be
a
growing
population.
G
There
is
also
going
to
be
a
look
at
if
we
approve
this
of
addressing,
if
we
decided
to
add
another
pod,
basically
or
a
classroom
wing
to
the
building,
which
it
has
the
capacity
to
do
that.
What
then
would
be
the
capacity
for
student
enrollment
at
the
building,
and
that
might
also
give
us
an
opportunity
to
really
tweak
it
back
into
a
more
pure
middle
school
design,
because
it
was
originally
built
as
a
junior
high.
G
G
To
engage
some
professionals
to
do
an
assessment
of
the
building
do
a
mock-up
of
what
potentially,
it
would
cost
to
do
these
different
phased
projects,
whether
we
did
them
all
at
one
time
or
some
at
one
time
in
another.
So
that's
the
recommendation
and
I'll
make
that
a
formal
motion
in
hopes
that
somebody
will.
Second,
it.
A
Second,
thank
you.
We've
discussed
this
at
length
and
planning,
but
not
all
of
you
were
in
on
that
discussion,
so
any
questions
or
comments
just
confirming
that
this
is
to
proceed
as
a
study,
brock.
Q
Madam
president,
members
of
the
board,
jim
I'd
just
like
to
clarify,
and
for
those
of
you
planning,
you
recall
this
part
of
the
conversation.
I
would
understand
this
motion
to
mean
that
as
administration,
we
would
have
the
flexibility
to
determine
whether
that's
a
a
one-phase
or
two-phase
rfp
process.
G
G
A
Motion
carried
thank,
you
brings
us
to
el-12
policy
changes.
This
is
the
final
language
that
just
clarifies
you
see
el
12
10
when
we're
talking
about
when
we're
monitoring
this
the
question
was:
is
it
clear
enough
to
know
when
you
do
come
to
the
board?
You
know
what
significant
changes,
and
so
this
language
was
intended
to
provide
clarity,
so
I
would
entertain
a
motion
to
accept
that
change.
A
S
A
Motion
carries
thank
you
policy
monitoring.
We
have
staff
compensation
and
staff
treatment,
eel
5
and
6..
Thank
you
all
for
completing
these.
Does
anybody
have
a
comment
outside
of
their
written
comments
that
they
would
like
to
make
tonight.
F
S
A
A
The
same
time,
okay,
I
think
it's
good
for
the
public
to
know
just
in
case
anyone
was
watching
when
we
go
to
our
national
convention.
A
Instead
of
just
reporting
out
comments
and
anecdotes,
we
now
ask
for
those
reports
in
written
form,
it's
good
to
get
a
little
more
detail
and
it's
in
a
little
more
lasting
form.
So
thank
you
for
all
sharing
the
the
sessions
that
you
went
to
anybody
have
anything
they
would
like
to
add
for
the
good
of
the
order.
In
addition
to
your
written
comments,
john.
F
Not
to
make
this
meeting
any
longer,
but
I
I
did
attend
a
lot
of
sessions
on
or
most
of
them
are
on
governance
and
best
practices
of
boards
and
what
we
do
and
a
lot
of
them
focused
on
this
book
from
the
national
school
boards
association
called
the
key
work
of
school
boards
and
they've
surveyed
districts
across
the
nation
found
similarities
in
high
performing
boards,
and
summarize
it
in
here
in
a
very
practical
guide.
There
is
it's
organized
into
five
sections
vision,
accountability,
policy,
community
leadership,
board
and
superintendent
relationships
and
there's
self-assessments
in
here.
F
It's
a
really
nice
document
and
I
went
through
it
and
I
did
some
of
the
self-assessments
and
then
just
about
every
single
one
of
them.
We
are
where
are
they
fully
achieved
in
these
things?
And-
and
it
was
really
a
theme
of
the
conference
for
me
that
so
often
when
I
was
in
these
sessions
hearing
people
talk
about
what's
what's
working
in
public
school
districts
and
in
their
boards?
F
I
was
thinking
to
myself,
if
not
saying,
hey
we're
doing
that
which
isn't
to
say
that
everything's
perfect
here
in
fargo
public
school
district.
But
we
have
a
board
that
functions
well,
we
have
the
governance
structures
in
place
when
we
do
find
things
that
don't
work
or
imperfections,
we're
able
to
address
those
professionally
and
with
respect
for
each
other
and
for
administration
and
for
the
staff
and
for
the
kids,
all
centered
around
student
achievement,
and
so
I
also
really
appreciated
the
opportunity
again.
F
Two-Thirds
of
us
have
served
less
than
four
years,
and
so
I
think,
there's
still
a
bit
of
that
storming
forming
going
on
as
we're
approaching
a
norming
and
performing
team,
and
and
this
national
conference
was
another
great
chance
for
us
to
work
together,
and
so
I
appreciate
that
opportunity
and
thank
you
for
your
time.
A
R
So,
there's
nothing
like
being
in
a
at
a
conference
center
with,
however
many
thousands
of
individuals
that
are
like-minded,
but
I'm
pretty
well
sure
that
every
one
of
those
folks
at
that
attending
that
conference
was
a
supporter
of
public
education
likely
wouldn't
be
serving
on
a
school
board
or
working
for
a
school
district
or
as
a
teacher
as
administrator
staff
or
speaking
at
that
national
stage,
if
they
weren't
a
supporter
of
public
education.
So
again
it's
like
one
of
those
things
where
it's
always
said:
hey
there's,
no
time,
that's
more
important.
R
You
know
to
stand
up
for
public
education
or
one
cause
or
another,
but
there's
really
no
more
time
more
time.
Now,
that's
it's
so
important,
and-
and
it
was,
I
wasn't
surprised
to
hear
that
from
that
national
stage,
but
it
was,
it
was
good
to
hear
it
it
and
it
just
helped
reaffirm
my
commitment
that
working
to
help
ensure
that
we
have
a
strong
public
school
system
is
some
of
the
best
work
that
we
can
ever
do.
So
I
really
am
grateful
for
the
opportunity
to
have
been
able
to
attend.
Thank
you.
A
Absolutely
thank
you.
If
there's
no
other
whoops
whoops,
we
have
more
more
reports
here.
I
got
a
little
carried
away.
Thank
you
everyone
again
for
sharing
your
your
reports,
committee
reports
and
liaison
reports.
Christy.
If
you
could
start
us
tonight,.
S
G
R
R
The
native
american
commission
was
to
meet
last
week,
but
there
were
not
enough
people
there
to
hold
that
meeting.
So
that
is,
I
don't
know
what
we're
meeting
next
I'll
I'll
find
that
out-
and
this
is
mine-
I
guess
on.
I
just
received
an
invitation
today
from
fargo
north
for
their
counseling
center
advisory
council.
I
attended
a
meeting
at
north
earlier
in
the
school
year
for
that
and
so
they're
having
another
meeting
on
april
26th.
R
So
I
will
be
attending
that
and
then
kind
of
as
a
follow-up
to
attending
the
lss
building
bridges
conference.
I've
been
following
more
closely
the
students
that
put
together
the
green
card
voices
book
and
I've
just
there
are
I've
enjoyed
listening
to
their
readings,
I'm
kind
of
addicted
to
listening
to
them.
Now,
I'm
so
proud
of
them.
It's
just
wonderful,
and
so
last
week
I
was
at
barnes
noble
and
three
of
the
fargo
south
students
read
from
their
books
and
tomorrow
I
believe
it's
at
6
00
p.m,
at
the
fargo
public
library.
R
More
students
will
be
reading
and
I
know
there's
one
other
session,
I'm
not
sure
when
that
is
but
green
card
voices
has
a
facebook
page,
and
I
think
you
could
find
that
information
there,
but
it's
just
so
fun
to
learn
from
them,
and
I
believe
that
is
the
end
of
my
report.
Thank
you
great.
H
So
communications
committee
met
and
agreed
upon
a
condensed
list
from
the
best
idea
section
from
the
last
public
forum
and
if
you
haven't
seen
the
minutes
already,
anne-marie
did
a
great
job
of
listing
them
all
out
in
detail
for
us,
so
I'll
just
highlight
them
and
from
here.
Actually
these
topics
will
be
forwarded
to
cabinet
to
further
discuss
and
review
and
then
hopefully
get
implemented
into
the
future
operational
plan.
H
And
so
one
being
we
talked
a
little
bit
about
safety
and
risk
management
position.
We
transportation,
which
I
had
highlighted
before,
will
be
brought
to
the
summer
board,
retreat
elementary
to
middle
school
transition
in
the
academic
area,
technology
apps
to
increase
parent
involvement,
steam
schools
or
innovation.
Centers
a
school
within
a
school
model
volunteer
coordinator,
which
actually
I
was
going
to
comment.
H
I
saw
linda
attended
that
as
well
and
for
those
of
you
who
may
remember
me
talking
about
this
last
time
in
boston.
I
had
attended
a
seminar
there
on
a
district
in
wisconsin
that
had
implemented
this
volunteer
coordinator
position
and
the
additional
resources
that
were
it
was
just.
It
was
really
a
great
additional
resource
for
teachers
and
students,
as
well
as
great
involvement
from
the
community
and
this
partnership
that
had
formed,
and
I
saw
in
her
notes
that
they
referenced
this
particular
school
in
wisconsin
too.
I
cannot
pronounce
it.
H
It
starts
with
a
p,
but
it
was
in
waukesha,
yeah,
yeah
yeah,
so
in
waukesha
county
I
can
say
that,
but
anyway,
so
I'm
happy
to
see
that
that
also
came
on
the
list.
Recommendation
listed
recommendations
of
best
ideas
and
has
now
made
the
plan
moving
forward.
So
when
best
practice
ideas
surface
like
this,
I
always
get
a
little
bit
excited
about
them
sort
of
coming
to
life,
so
so
moving
forward.
H
The
last
thing
on
here
is
the
financial
review,
so
there
will
be
a
discussion
around
that
and
you
can
see
the
minutes
for
further
detail
there.
The
next
scheduled
meeting
is
may
8th
at
noon,
and
I
did
attend
pta
at
ben
franklin,
my
middle
school
liaison
school
and
I
will
fill
out
the
notes
and
share
a
little
bit
more
at
our
next
meeting,
with
some
highlights
there.
Terrific.
Thank
you
very.
F
Thank
you.
Beyond
the
regular
committee
attendance,
I
attended
the
trollwood
event
announcements
on
tuesday,
which
was
a
lot
of
fun.
I'm
happy
to
see
that
facility
succeeding
the
way
it
is
really
looking
forward
to
the
main
stage,
musical,
really
looking
forward
to
that,
and
then
also
then,
on
back
on
the
28th
attended,
that
green
card
youth
voices
book
launch,
which
is
a
wonderful
event
and
all
31
of
the
students
who
are
in
that
book
and
published
authors
now
were
there
super
excited,
they
were
treated
like
royalty
like
rock
stars.
F
They
were
signing
autographs
at
the
end.
The
director
of
that
project,
who
was
a
bush
fellow
teo,
was:
was
there
helping
celebrate
the
launch
really
just
a
fantastic
event,
and
one
thing
that
I
didn't
I
was
not
aware
of
before
attending
that
was
they
have
these
giant
stand-ups
of
each
student's
portrait
a
bit
of
their
story
a
little.
F
What's
called
the
qr
code
to
scan
and
a
link
to
the
video
of
them
telling
their
story
that
has
been
entrusted
to
lss,
who
was
going
to
create
it
use
it
as
a
traveling,
exhibit
around
the
state
and
region
to
represent
these
kids
and
it's
not
just
a
book.
There's
a
teaching
guide,
that's
going
along
with
it,
and
so
this
is
now
curriculum
and
a
chance
for
other
districts
around
the
nation
to
learn
from
what's
happened
here
in
in
fargo
and
our
students
and
and
and
that
shared
humanity
and
so
really
wonderful
event.
A
That's
wonderful,
thank
you
so
much
so
inspiring.
I
only
have
one
thing
to
bring
to
your
attention
on
my
report.
A
The
graduation
assignments
have
been
made,
so
I
hope
those
are
okay
with
everyone
tried
to
go
along
with
your
requests
or
your
liaisons
if
you
for
any
reason,
need
to
cancel
or
change
or
trade,
let
ann
marino
sooner
rather
than
later,
because
these
get
printed
into
the
programs,
so
they
want
to
get
our
names
correct.
So
that's
that's
all
I
have
there
linda.
S
P
Can
we
also
note
on
your
president's
report
there
that
in
may
the
academic
awards,
breakfast
or
or
awards
programs
have
been
added
as
well?
If
you
want
to
note
those
for
your
calendars,
I
know
you
guys
have
wanted
to
attend
those
in
the
past
and
also
they
are
all
on
three
different
dates
this
year,
so
you
should
be
able
to
attend
those.
I'm.
A
Right
very
good,
thank
you.
So,
yes,
I
also
encourage
you
to
attend
those.
If
you
can
so
unless
there's
anything
else,
we
are
adjourned.
Thank
you.
