From YouTube: School Board Meeting - July 14, 2020
Description
Fargo Public Schools - Board of Education - Live Broadcast - July 14, 2020
A
I
didn't
even
everyone
welcome
to
the
annual
reorganizational
meeting
of
the
Fargo
Board
of
Education.
I
would
like
to
say:
welcome
a
couple
newcomers
to
our
tables:
welcome
to
board
members
Nikki
Gullickson,
South,
Holden
and
Tracy
Neumann
I,
on
behalf
of
the
board.
Welcome
you
to
your
first
meeting
as
members
of
the
Fargo
Board
of
Education.
Additionally,
I
congratulate
Jim
Johnson
on
being
reelected
to
the
Fargo
Board
of
Education
for
another
term.
To
all
of
you,
congratulations
on
receiving
the
highest
number
of
votes
in
the
election
held
on
June
9th.
A
Since
that
time
you
have
completed
your
oath
of
office
and
agreed
to
complete
the
duties
of
a
school
board
member.
We
look
forward
to
your
contributions
to
this
board
and
your
governance
apart.
Fargo
public
schools.
Welcome
at
this
point,
I'm
supposed
to
hand
over
the
gavel
to
dr.
Gandhi,
but
I
have
some
parting
words
for
myself.
Robin.
B
B
C
C
A
Opposed
no
okay,
we
will
proceed,
see
I
really
wanted
to
get
out
of
this
president's
position
sooner.
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
the
opportunity
to
serve
as
your
board
president.
My
one-year
term
ends
tonight
and
I
assume
you
notice
that
I
have
not
submitted
my
name
for
the
president's
ballot.
It's
been
an
event
filled
year,
to
say
the
least.
My
intention
of
not
seeking
the
position
is
to
instead
seek
to
be
the
chair
of
the
governmental
affairs
committee,
since
the
legislature
will
be
in
session
in
the
upcoming
year.
A
Additionally,
the
amount
of
time
the
president
puts
in
a
regular
year
is
extensive
and
due
to
this
year's
events,
my
team
time
commitment
was
even
more
substantial,
I
hope
to
use
all
of
my
newfound
time
to
focus
on
my
full-time
job
in
my
personal
health.
So
I
wish
only
the
best
for
the
board
and
the
new
chair.
So
dr.
Gandhi
I
am
going
to
turn
over
the
gavel
to
you,
sir,
and
we
will
proceed
with
the
next
item
on
the
agenda.
So.
E
Dr.
Gandhi
I
served
as
chair
of
the
canvassing
committee
and
there
is
a
a
memo
in
front
of
everyone.
Memo
number
seven
that
indicates
individuals
willing
to
serve
as
president
and
vice
president
and
thank
you
to
Jim
and
Pryor
board
member
Christy
for
helping
to
serve
on
that
committee
and
reaching
out
to
everyone
that
was
eligible
to
serve
as
president.
The
requirement
is
that
a
board
member
needs
to
have
one
year
of
service
in
order
to
serve
as
a
board
president,
and
that
would
be
my
summarization
of
our
work.
E
D
You
Rebecca
at
this
point
we
will
start
with
the
election
of
officers
and
we
will
start
with
the
president,
so
I
will
open
it
up.
The
canvassing
committee
did
find
as
you'll
see
in
the
memo
that
Rebecca
Knudsen
is
willing
to
serve
in
the
position
of
a
president,
but
I
will
also
open
it
up
to
the
floor
for
any
nominations.
I.
D
C
D
B
F
B
F
G
E
All
right,
thank
you.
Everyone,
Thank,
You
Robin,
so
much
for
your
year
of
service,
really
appreciate
your
your
leadership,
been
wonderful
and
looking
forward
to
what
you
can
do
regarding
our
legislative
needs,
which
is
a
real
strength,
also
that
you
have
and
it's
your
interest
so
continuing
on
with
the
vice
president
spot.
E
E
E
H
Hello,
congratulations.
I
am
just
gonna
read
from
some
notes:
cuz,
it's
been
a
crazy
busy
few
weeks
as
I'm
sure
you
guys
all
feeling
that
as
well.
So,
first
of
all
welcome
to
the
new
and
returning
board
members.
As
we
just
heard
the
governor
speak,
he
has
definitely
handed
the
baton
to
you
and
you
have
a
lot
of
work
to
do
so.
I'm
excited
to
see
your
creative
solutions,
putting
your
minds
together
in
order
to
think
about
staff,
safety,
student
safety
and,
ultimately,
the
learning
of
our
district.
H
So
I'm
really
excited
to
see
what
you
guys
come
up
with
also
with
election
sent.
I
want
to
really
personally
reach
out
to
Robin
and
say
thank
you
so
much
for
this
past
year
of
collaboration
and
working,
you
have
been
very
open
and
honest
in
our
conversations
and
I
know
that
we've
worked
really
hard
to
bridge
the
gap
and
I
know
that
that's
going
to
happen
either
with
Rebecca
rabbit
in
these
new
elected
positions.
So
thank
you
for
that.
H
Educators
and
staff
have
really
been
busy
this
summer,
with
planning,
probably
over
300
different
reentry
type
plans,
I
joke
at
300,
but
they're
closed
I,
think
their
minds
are
spinning
constantly
as
they're
constantly
watching
local
numbers
state
numbers,
national
members
watching
countries
that
have
opened
to
now
closed
again
and
safety
is
a
really
big
concern
and
they're
also
concerned
about
the
safety
of
our
students.
So
I
could
probably
list
a
thousand
different
questions.
H
I've
received,
but
I
know
that,
with
our
smart
restart
plan
that
we're
gonna
be
talking
about
with
staff
on
Wednesday
I'm,
gonna,
wait
and
I'm
gonna
facilitate
those
through
dr.
Gandhi
and
I
know
that
he'll
be
making
sure
those
get
back
to
you.
But
I
want
you
to
know
that
the
staff
are
ready
to
collaborate,
we're
ready
to
listen
and
I've
heard
so
many
amazing
creative
ideas
out
there
already
from
our
staff.
So
we're
excited
to
have
that
partnership
as
dr.
baize,
our
superintendent
Baylor,
has
said
and
I
know,
with
working
with
dr.
H
Newman
on
the
board,
with
her
expertise
in
the
medical
field,
we'll
come
up
with
a
really
sound
solution
for
Cass
County.
So
with
that
being
said,
we
aren't
under
phone
program
already
and
the
challenges
will
exist.
So
that's
where
we
have
to
continue
to
advocate
to
our
community
to
show
that
we're
already
in
a
deficit
budget,
as
Jackie
gap
had
pointed
out
that
we
are
trying
to
approve.
H
What
a
cool
opportunity
get
to
talk
with
people
and
I
get
to
collect
their
data
for
their
local
communities
and
it
got
too
frayed
and
to
fade
and
all
the
way
out
and
now
listen
I
got
a
message
saying:
August
4th
your
training
session
is
occurring.
I
said
well
interesting,
we're
gonna
start
it
again.
The
parameters
are
very
clear.
They
told
me
how
many
square
foot
the
room
will
be,
how
many
people
will
be
in
there.
H
So
I
just
want
you
to
know
that,
as
we
start
to
look
through
these
and
want
you
to
kind
of
keep
that
open
mind
about
what
every
single
educators
role
is
going
to
look
like
it
in
our
district,
so
I'm
open
to
talk
with
every
single
one
of
you
as
we
approach
this
opportunity,
my
email
is
very
open.
My
cell
phone
is
available
if
you
need
it
in
order
to
reach
out,
but
Effie
is
also
working
on
many
other
tasks
as
well.
H
We
are
working
with
social-emotional
learning
and
her
middle
schools
how
to
make
sure
that's
authentic
and
real
how
to
get
subs,
especially
in
the
middle
of
a
pandemic.
There
are
some
really
creative
solutions
out
there
to
hopefully
get
some
more
people
in
the
doors
we're
working
with
dr.
Gandhi
over
the
last
couple
weeks
about
the
director
of
inclusion
and
diversity,
so
that
piece
of
collaboration
and
that
listening
has
been
really
important
to
bridging
that
role.
So
thank
you
guys
and
good
luck
with
all
your
decisions
tonight.
E
D
Before
I
talked
a
little
bit
about
our
Fargo
public
school,
smart
restart
plan
and
where
we
are
or
a
process
for
that,
one,
a
touch
base
a
little
bit
about
some
of
the
conversations
in
the
community
that
you
may
have
heard
around
the
career.
Workforce,
Academy
and
I
know
that
for
returning
board
members,
this
is
not
a
new
conversation.
It's
been
a
conversation
that
we've
we've
engaged
in
several
work
sessions
about
and
just
really
want
to
give
an
update
of
where
we
are
last
night.
D
I
had
the
opportunity
to
be
part
of
a
team
to
help
present
to
the
city
of
Fargo
Commission
in
seeking
for
funding
from
the
city
of
Fargo
for
the
project
for
the
career,
Workforce
Academy,
as
most
of
you
have
heard
me
before,
I
use
the
term
Workforce
Development
Center,
because
the
Academy
is.
We
are
one
user
group
for
that
Academy
that
can
potentially
provide
that
opportunity
for
our
students,
but
I,
don't
think
it's
a
sole
function
of
k-12
and
I.
D
Think
that
really
separates
our
investment
and
one
of
the
things
that
I
shared
with
with
the
city
of
Fargo
is.
This
is
an
opportunity
for
our
students,
but
it's
not
a
different
school.
If
it
was
a
function
of
k-12
schools,
then
that
would
be
something
that
we
would
be
charged
to
do
and
I
think
it's
important
to
separate
those
two,
because
what
I
advocate
for
and
the
opportunity
for
a
career
workforce
Academy
in
our
community
is
it's
just
another
opportunity
to
provide
our
students,
maybe
with
an
area
of
learning
that
goes
beyond.
D
K12
goes
into
the
year,
1314
the
two-year
programs
or
a
certification
program,
and
that's
an
opportunity
that
we
can
take
advantage
of
if
our
students
need
it.
So
currently,
the
model
has
changed
a
little
bit
where
there
is
an
application,
that's
being
developed
for
federal
funding
to
help
support
the
building
of
that
new
building.
If
that
federal
applications
is
approved
with
a
match
from
public
entities
that
are
not
the
school
system's,
those
public
entities
are
the
city
of
Fargo,
Cass,
County,
City
of
West
Fargo
and
the
feeling
our
future
organization.
D
So
that
is
where
we
are,
and
at
this
point
all
of
those
public
entities
have
now
voted
to
to
match
that
funding.
If
the,
if
the
federal
grant
was
approved,
so
we
look
forward
to
hearing
back
in
September
or
October
and
if
that
happens,
then
there
is
a
good
potential
for
this
project
to
move
forward.
And
then
we
would
continue
our
conversations
on
a
tuition
based
agreement
to
help
with
the
operations
of
that
building.
Similar
to
the
conversations
we've
had
before.
I
wanted
to
share
that
information.
D
Because
yesterday
at
the
City
Commission
meeting
I
was
asked
a
question:
has
the
school
board
approved
an
Operations
agreement
and
my
answer
was
no,
but
the
school
board
has
expressed
a
letter
of
support
and
has
approved
that
concept
in
terms
of
making
sure
that,
with
the
tuition
based
agreement,
that
that
would
be
something
that
we
would
be
interested
before.
So
I
just
wanted
to
make
sure
that
you
were
aware
that
I
did
speak
on
behalf
of
the
school
board
based
on
her
past
conversations.
D
But
the
reason
we
haven't
brought
an
operational
agreement
to
you
is
because
there
hasn't
been
one
that's
finalized
yet,
and
it
all
depends
on
that
project
being
completed.
So
I
just
wanted
you
to
know
that
that
I
did
represent
the
school
board
yesterday
and
a
little
bit
when
asked
of
the
City
Commission
meeting.
D
So
this
afternoon
the
governor
had
an
opportunity
to
share
a
little
bit
of
guidance
that
he
will
be
providing
to
the
state
for
our
North
Dakota
smart,
restart
plans
and
in
complete
honesty,
I
haven't
had
a
chance
to
sit
down
and
process
every
piece
of
information
that's
been
provided.
We've
been
spending
a
lot
of
our
own
time,
working
on
our
own
reentry
plans
as
well.
So
I
just
wanted
to
use
this
opportunity
to
give
the
board
members
an
update
of
kind
of
where
we
are
and
what
our
process
is.
D
The
last
couple
of
days
we
have
administered
a
survey,
and
this
purpose
of
the
survey
is
a
very
preliminary
survey
on
with
what
are
important
factors
for
considerations
for
both
staff
and
family
members
and
then
also
for
I.
Think
the
last
question
of
the
survey
said:
if
school
were
to
start
today,
what
would
be
your
preference
for
an
instructional
model?
We
understand
and
know
that
that
that
survey
is
is
solely
a
starting
point,
and
that
survey
is
one
of
many
different
opportunities.
D
We
are
going
to
provide
for
individuals
to
provide
input,
but
that
the
purpose
of
that
survey
was
just
to
start
and
get
some
preliminary
data
on
where
our
individuals,
right
now
with
the
pieces
of
information
they
have
on
KOCO
19.
We
struggle
right
now
with
a
sense
of
urgency,
not
knowing
all
the
that's
at
hand
and
then
changing
information.
So
we
also
know
that
a
more
meaningful
survey
down
the
road
might
happen
from
our
district
once
we're
able
to
share
some
of
our
plans
and
share
with
individuals.
D
D
There
are
normal
channels
of
communication,
so
I
would
say
be
on
the
lookout
for
that
starting
tomorrow
we
are
gonna,
be
organizing
three
different
staff
inputs
work
sessions
and
these
staff
work
sessions
are
designed
to
get
as
many
eyes
from
staff
members
as
we
can
on
what
we
are
developing
for
our
Fargo
public
schools,
smart
restart
plan
on
how
to
move
forward
with
the
threat
of
kovin
19
in
our
community.
The
purpose
of
these
work
sessions
is
to
make
sure
that
we
get
a
wide
spread
of
input
from
all
of
our
staff
members.
D
We
can
capitalize
on
what
president
Masters
said
some
of
the
creative
ideas
or
really
get
some
real-life
experience,
whether
it's
remar
summer
school
teachers
or
from
other
staff
members
that
might
be
able
to
provide
some
perspective
on
something
that
we've
missed
as
we
move
forward.
We
expect
our
plan
to
be
a
very,
very
living
document
that
will
can
and
will
change,
often
not
only
based
on
information
that
we
receive,
but
also
based
on
feedback
that
we
receive
in
terms
of
what
works.
D
So
tomorrow
we
are
gonna,
have
three
staff
input
sessions,
they're
gonna
be
done
virtually,
but
up
to
500
staff.
Members
can
join
at
a
time
to
look
at
our
plan
and
we're
gonna
give
them
multiple
opportunities
for
feedback
throughout
that
process.
We
look
to
do
repeat
that
process
after
we've
considered
and
applied
the
changes
that
we
do
as
we
work
with
staff
members,
the
following
Wednesday
on
July
22nd
with
our
parents.
D
So
on
Thursday
we
will
be
communicating
with
parents
and
opportunity
again
for
them
to
join
an
input
session
where
they
can
review
our
plan
and
those
seven
days
between
when
we
present
it
to
staff
and
we
presented
to
parents
will
give
us
an
opportunity
to
apply
some
of
the
changes
and
work
with
some
of
our
staff
and
smaller
groups
to
continue
to
rehash
that
plan
and
make
it
better
for
a
community.
Once
we
receive
input
from
parents
on
July
22nd,
we
will
continue
to
go
back.
D
D
We've
been
back-to-back
meetings
trying
to
focus
on
reentry
plantings,
and
it's
not
been
intentional
to
our
media
partners
at
all.
We
appreciate
them
and
the
opportunity
to
share
our
story
as
well,
but
it's
really
just
bent.
This
is
a
really
busy
time
for
us
as
we're
trying
to
put
together
all
of
our
plans.
So
that's
why
we've
had
to
kind
of
say
no
to
several
inquiries
over
the
last
couple
of
days
and
I
just
wanted
to
let
board
members
know
why
that
is.
E
A
C
B
I
B
I
G
J
I
B
E
D
So,
as
most
of
the
board
members
know,
we,
this
board
has
already
approved
a
bid
package,
one
that
went
out
for
the
Explorer
Academy
project
at
Lewis
and
Clark
elementary
school.
So
today
what
you
have
in
front
of
you
is
for
bid
package
to
the
scope
of
work
was
divided
into
two
bid
packages,
so
this
really
provides
in
total
estimate
for
the
project.
Moving
forward.
I
am
very
pleased
with
the
bids
that
did
come
back.
D
In
fact,
we
were
able
to
accept
all
of
the
alternates
and
I
believe
it's
four
alternates
into
this
project
that
we
had
discussed.
So
that's
something
that
we'll
go
into
a
little
bit
detail
about,
but
the
scope
of
work
and
the
bids
that
came
back
extremely
proud
of
the
partners
that
we
work
with
both
of
the
architect
company
and
our
and
our
cm
company,
as
well,
so
extremely
pleased
about
that,
since
we've
had
some
board
turnover
and
the
conversation
around
the
Explorer
academies
just
slowed
a
little
bit.
D
We
wanted
to
take
an
opportunity
today
before
you
before.
We
ask
for
a
motion
to
approve
error,
sorry
to
share
where
we
are
the
project
again,
as
most
of
you
know
that
sometimes
from
when
you
start
with
the
project,
with
the
pre
design
phase
and
a
feasibility
study,
you
might
have
one
visual,
but
then,
as
things
start
going
towards
the
bid
phase,
the
project
could
change
the
sensitive
nature
of
this
project.
D
D
K
Yeah
panned
rack
from
HR
partners
and
we'll
walk
you
through
the
like,
like
root
box,
said
that
the
plan
has
not
really
changed
much
conceptually.
This
is
very
similar
to
what
was
presented
last
fall
when,
after
we
completed
the
pre
design,
and
the
bids
came
in
really
good,
we're
very
close,
almost
right
on
what
the
budget
was
last
fall
with
all
the
alternates
awarded,
so
we'll
kind
of
walk
through
the
plans
and
how
they
changed.
It
just
changed
slightly
from
last
fall.
There
were
some
changes
to
the
site.
We,
this
is
the
site
plan.
K
That's
up
here
and
I.
Think
you
have
them
in
your
board.
Packet
to
the
blue
area
is
the
addition
for
the
Explorer
Academy
and
then
the
white
area
is
the
existing
Lewis
and
Clark
school.
So
it's
on
the
kind
of
the
southwest
side
of
Lewis
and
Clark
school
into
that
area.
Where
there's
a
softball
field,
if
you're
familiar
with
Lewis
and
Clark,
there's
kind
of
a
softball
field
sitting
there,
you
know
that's
where
the
school
addition
is
going
to
sit
to.
K
The
left
of
that
is
the
parking
lot
for
visitors
for
the
TNT
area,
which
is
partners
with
this
project.
We
have
some
areas
in
there
for
a
TNT,
sensory
gym
and
then
on.
The
south
side
is
a
parent
and
bus
drop-off
loop
and
originally
on
the
project.
I
think
we
had
that
you
know
kind
of
have
this
arranged
differently,
but
we
have
some
guest
parking
down
there,
some
visitor
parking
and
then
a
drop-off
loop
for
parents.
K
We
did
have
to
move
the
city
recycling
area
down
a
little
bit
and
then
we
had
to
add
a
retention
basin
in
there
for
stormwater
kind
of
some
of
the
changes.
The
playground
pretty
much
stays
where
it
is.
We
modified
it
a
little
bit
because
of
the
addition,
but
it
stays
pretty
much
where
it
is
I'll
go
to
the
next
page
here.
K
The
next
one
is
the
floor
plan,
so
this
floor
plan
is
it's
almost
it's
very
similar
to
what
we
did
like
you
said
in
the
pre
design,
conceptually
these
areas
in
the
green
and
the
red,
the
green
areas
are
the
setting
D
classroom
areas
on
those.
Those
are
there's
two
classroom
pods.
One
on
the
east
side,
one
on
the
west
side.
The
east
side
is
for
the
elementary
students.
The
west
side
is
for
the
middle
school
students
in
the
middle
in
the
red.
K
Those
are
the
that
is
the
sensory
gym
for
TNT
kid's
fitness
and
they
would
run
their
programs
in
there
and
the
kids
at
the
setting
D
program
would
share
those
facilities
and
use
those
facilities
run
by
TNT
over
on
the
upper
right-hand
corner
to
plan
that
purple
area.
That
is
the
cafeteria.
So
there
was
needs
at
Lewis
and
Clark
to
have
a
larger
cafeteria.
So
that's
the
cafeteria
for
Lewis
and
Clark.
So
that's
expanded.
It's
only
used
for
Lewis
and
Clark
right
now,
so
we
expanded
that
area
down
to
the
south.
K
The
existing
cafeteria,
where
the
existing
cafeteria
is
now
at
Lewis
and
Clark.
We
put
in
a
setting
see
special
ed
classroom
in
that
area,
plus
a
serving
area
for
the
we
left
the
serving
area
there
and
then
the
table
area
is
down
in
the
purple
area
and
that
purple
area
is
also
a
half-court
gym.
So
they
have
an
extra
gym
space
for
half-court
gym
in
that
area
for
Lewis
and
Clark.
K
So
if
staff
want
to
exchange
between
Lewis
and
Clark
and
setting
D,
they
can
walk
through
about
why
one
side
of
the
cafeteria,
the
school
as
we
talked
about
originally,
was
designed
for
you
know
to
make
a
safe
environment
for
staff
and
students,
and
also
a
healing
and
inspiring
kind
of
environment
for
the
children
that
are
in
this
facility,
and
it's
all
designed
about
down
de-escalation
and
self
regulation
of
students.
So
each
one
of
these
pods
we
have
it
set
up
for
security.
K
So
if
a
kid
is
in
one
of
the
classrooms
and
they're
having
some
issues
and
they
have
to
wander
or
get
out,
they
can
go
out
into
that
gray
area
in
these
Commons
and
go
out
there
and
that's
also
an
educational
space
and
then
in
those
spaces
they,
if
they
they
have
issues
that
they
can
go
out
in
the
hallway.
And
so
we
have
big
wide
hallways
that
they
can
wander
around
and
the
school
is
secured
from
the
outside
with
locks.
K
So
the
outside
of
the
school
is
secured,
so
kids
can't
escape
out
of
the
school
out
into
the
street
or
anything
like
that.
So
we
designed
it
to
be
secure,
but
that
security
goes
down
to
the
area
of
the
pod
and
also
the
area
of
the
classroom.
So
a
kid
can
go
out
into
the
commons
area,
but
can't
get
back
into
the
classroom.
K
He
can
leave
the
commons
area
and
go
out
into
the
main
hall,
but
can't
come
back
into
the
Commons,
so
he
won't
disrupt
if
there
won't
be
disruptions
to
the
students
that
are
in
the
classrooms
or
in
the
Commons
area.
So
it's
kind
of
a
layered
sort
of
a
door,
security
and
or
setup
on
the
school.
So
it's
kind
of
how
the
schools
have
been
arranged.
K
These
special
ed
schools
down
in
the
Twin
Cities
that
Vito
would
be
our
so
we
worked
real
closely
with
them
on
the
hardware
and
how
that
all
works
and
worked
with
the
city
on
that.
So
I
think
it's
gonna
be
a
great
concept.
We,
the
materials
in
the
environment
in
here,
are
all
designed
to
make
a
calming
environment.
So
the
HVAC
systems,
the
the
ductwork,
is
larger,
there's
higher
level
acoustics
in
the
walls
and
the
doors
the
things
are
sealed
up.
K
So
if
you
walk
into
these
schools
and
it's
a
nice
quiet
environment,
the
lighting
can
be
adjusted
and
controlled
with
dimmers.
We
have
special
LED
lighting
that
can
change
colors
things
like
this
in
some
of
the
rooms
and
then
like
I,
said
in
each
one
of
these,
the
classroom,
pods,
there's,
there's
reset
rooms
or
respite
rooms.
We
call
them
where
the
kids
can
go
and
kind
of
reset.
There's
one
in
each
classroom.
K
There's
a
couple
out
in
each
one
of
the
classroom:
pods
and
then
each
classroom
pod
has
a
sensory
room
for
the
kids
to
go
in
there
and
kind
of
reset.
So
we
have
kind
of
multiple
different
spaces
for
that
to
happen,
to
try
to
to
try
to
control
and
regulate
itself,
regulate,
behaviors
I
think
it's
gonna
be
a
great
concept.
We
I'll
show
you
some
images
of
the
outside
here
this.
This
shows
when
we
were
working
on
the
project.
We
have
a
plan
showing
alternates.
K
So
when
you
come
to
the
budget
stuff,
that
Lance
is
going
to
talk
about
from
construction
engineers,
we
did
a
bunch
of
alternates
in
here.
A
lot
of
it
was
not
finishing
off
some
of
the
space
shelling
in
space
or
taking
off
classrooms,
most
of
the
classrooms
on
the
east
side,
and
then
we
had
some
systems
and
some
finishes
that
we
had
as
alternates
to
try
to
make
sure
we
could
get
a
project
that
was
on
budget.
K
K
K
K
Most
of
the
schools
we
went
on
tours
of
they'll
have
the
lights
off
and
they
just
let
the
natural
light
illuminate
the
rooms
and
it
seemed
to
be
the
kids.
Behavior
was
a
lot
better
when
they
didn't
have
the
artificial
lights
on
and
they
had
natural
lighting
in
the
space
and
I
know.
Rebecca.
You
are
on
that
tour.
Most
of
the
lights
were
off
so
makes
for
a
lot
more
calming
environment,
so
we
have
lots
of
windows
for
natural
light.
That
shows-
and
this
shows
the
view
kind
of
from
the
west
side.
K
This
shows
some
of
the
images
out
in
the
main
hallway
each
one
of
the
neighborhoods
has
a
graphic
on
it
and
we've.
We
designed
this
based
on
an
explorer
theme,
so
it's
kind
of
the
Lewis
and
Clark
or
explorers.
So
they
took
elements
and
images
of
wildlife
in
nature
that
Lewis
and
Clark
saw
on
their
trip
and
we
kind
of
integrated
those
into
the
graphics
on
the
walls,
and
this
wall
has
is
like
a
ceramic
tile,
a
plastic
tile.
It
looks
like
ceramic
tile,
but
it's
got
a
custom
graphic
on
the
backside
of
it.
K
So,
and
it
was
in
some
of
the
schools
down
the
cities
and
the
kids
loved
it.
They
I
guess
they
spend
a
lot
of
time
kind
of
rubbing
their
hands
on
it
and
it's
kind
of
a
textural
thing,
so
I
think
it's
gonna
be
really
cool
once
you
see
it
done,
but
we
have
these
in
the
main
hallway
into
each
one
of
the
household
pods,
and
then
we
have
one
a
graphic
on
the
wall
of
each
one
of
the
Commons.
K
Also
so
you'll
see
that
in
the
next
image
you'll
see
in
most
of
the
common
spaces,
we
have
a
wood
wainscot
on
there
and
that's
for
making
that
warming
up
and
making
the
space
feel
pleasant,
but
also
for
durability.
So
if
kids
kick
the
door
at
walls
or
anything
it
won't,
they
won't
kick
through
the
wall.
We
have
a
plywood
and
then
we
have
a
double
layer
of
sheetrock
behind
it.
To
reinforce
that.
So
we've
thought
about
kind
of
all
those
details
on
the
hardware
and
the
finishes
to
make
it
durable.
K
The
main
hallway
has
rubber
tile
on
it.
That
was
one
of
the
alternates
and
the
rubber
tile
makes
makes
the
sound
a
lot
less.
It's
a
padded
rubber
tile,
so
the
noise
of
kids,
feet
and
stuff
like
that
will
be
lessened
if
that
gets
done
on
there.
This
shows
one
of
the
Commons
areas,
the
classroom
Commons.
So
the
classrooms
are
around
this
common
space,
which
also
was
used
as
an
educational
space.
K
Yes
high
Windows
to
let
natural
light
kind
of
deep
inside
the
building,
so,
like
I
said,
the
artificial
lighting
can
be
shut
off
and
then
the
the
art
of
natural
light
can
illuminate
the
space.
So
this
kind
of
shows
some
of
the
furnitures
suggested
furniture
we'd
have
in
there
it's
kind
of
soft
furniture.
The
kids
can
go
out
there
and
do
their
learning
out
there,
one
on
one
if
they
have
to
and
get
away
from
the
classroom
that
is
kind
of
where
we're
at
we
there's
any
questions
about
the
design.
K
K
K
K
The
alternates
I'll
walk
through
those
we
had
alternates,
for
we
had
ten
alternates
on
it
when
we
finally
did
it
and
this
we
were
worried
about
the
budget.
So
we
wanted
to
make
sure
we
had
a
project
that
was
able
to,
for
the
board
was
able
to
to
award.
So
we
had
ten
alternates
alternate
over
one
was
for
the
concrete
parking
lot
for
changing
the
from
beast
bid
asphalt
to
concrete,
so
that
was
alternate
number
one
plants
will
go
through
the
numbers
to
2a
and
2b.
K
We
left
that
as
just
shale
space
to
be
finished
later
budget
didn't
have
enough
money
to
build
it.
The
shale
space
would
be
there,
but
it
would
be
unfinished
if
it
wasn't
awarded.
Five
was
the
blue
area.
The
work
in
the
existing
school
six
were
finished
things
in
that
gray.
You
can
see
in
the
middle.
We
have
just
regular
vinyl
tile,
like
you'd,
see
in
most
schools
like
Sam,
Lewis
and
Clark,
and
we
had
an
alternate
to
put
rubber
tile,
which
is
the
padded
rubber
tile.
K
And
then
number
seven
was
benches
in
which
one
of
these
little
respite
rooms
and
they
can
be
calming
room,
so
we
have
benches
in
there
for
the
kids
that
were
built
in.
So
it's
a
millwork
item.
We
got
a
bid
for
an
alternative
and
then
eight
was
some
of
those
graphics.
We
had
those
the
graphics
on
the
walls
in
the
Commons
areas,
not
out
in
the
main
hallway.
K
So
in
that
one
image
that
you
saw
that
graphic
on
the
wall
was,
was
that
alternate
number
eight
so
and
then
nine
was
floor
heating,
so
in
the
classrooms
in
the
classroom
areas
only
around
the
perimeter
ten
feet
out.
We
have
floor
heat,
so
we
have
in
the
floor
in
floor
heating,
so
the
kids
can
play
on
the
floor
and
it's
not
cold.
So
we
did
that
as
an
alternate.
It's
not
completely
necessary,
but
it
makes
the
classrooms
work
a
lot
better.
The
kids
can,
but
we
went
on
a
tour
of
down
the
cities.
I
David
I'm
just
wondering
you
know
so
many
of
the
things
that
you
mentioned,
that
you're
incorporating
in
here
for
the
benefit
of
these
kids
would
be
so
beneficial
in
all
of
our
classrooms.
The
enhanced
HVAC
anybody
who's
ever
spent
any
time
in
any
of
our
classrooms.
During
the
winter.
You
can
hear
it's
a
significant
amount
of
noise,
the
the
enhanced
lighting,
the
more
natural
light.
How
much?
Just
as
for
future
thought
when
we
build
more
buildings.
How
much
does
that
add
per
square
foot?
Just
a
rough
guesstimate
I?
Don't.
K
Think
the
the
HVAC
adds
money
to
it.
I,
don't
think
the
natural
lighting
in
the
classroom
or
the
LED
lighting
in
the
classroom
we're
doing
that.
Basically,
in
all
new
schools
now
and
I'm
sure
schools
that
you
Europe
recently
built
that's
kind
of
a
standard
now
the
HVAC
is
gonna,
add
more
exactly
how
much
I
don't
know
all
the
ductwork
has
to
be
bigger
has
to
be
insulated.
It
probably
adds
10%,
maybe
to
the
HVAC
cost
to
the
building
that
would
be
booked.
The
only
item,
I
would
say,
would
actually.
D
Just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
ye
jar.
They've
been
extremely
collaborative
in
this
process
and
I
know
that
not
represented
here
today
is
BW
BR,
who
is
also
working
in
collaboration
and
consultation
with
y
HR
and
they've
just
been
a
great
resource
for
us
in
terms
of
getting
to
this
point
as
well
and
then
I
know,
Lance
is
going
to
present
more
specifics
on
the
numbers
and
how
the
bid
packages
came
back
as
well.
So
just
want
to
express
my
gratitude
and
for
being
here
today
as
well.
K
L
M
B
L
You'll
see
there's
a
few
of
them,
a
few
of
them
that
are
highlighted
in
red
and
that's
to
indicate
that
there
was
a
some
form
of
issue
with
there
bit.
So
you
can
see
if
they've
got
a
an
oh,
it
was
highlighted
red.
That
basically
means
they
didn't
provide
that
required
item,
and
so
their
bid
wasn't
able
to
be
considered
I'm
beyond
that.
I
think
it's
pretty
straightforward.
I
might
should
ask
questions
now
or
later,
if
you
have
any
regarding
any
of
those,
but
in
the
interest
of
your
as
time.
L
If
there
aren't
questions
specifically
on
that,
guess
sounded
like
to
jump
forward
to
the
estimate
worksheet.
It's
just
to
kind
of
explain
to
you
how
this
works.
I
was
like
to
start
at
the
bottom.
The
12
million
even
number
is
the
total
project
cost
that
includes
construction
cost,
as
well
as
soft
costs
such
as
design
and
other
owners
expenses.
L
What
I'm
going
to
spend
my
time
talking
about
is
the
construction
cost.
If
you
go
to
the
kind
of
bottom
of
third
of
the
page,
you
can
see
total
bid
group
one
construction
cost
two
million
five.
Ninety
six,
seven
hundred
right
below
that
is
the
total
big
group,
two
construction
costs
of
six
million
nine.
Oh
five,
six,
twenty
two,
that's!
Basically
the
total
of
the
two
blue
groups
up
up
above
as
far
as
it
applies
to
big
group
to
well,
you
kind
of
have
a
roll
up
of
the
entire
project.
L
Putting
the
time
in
to
develop
the
alternates.
It's
great
that
we're
able
to
to
accept
all
of
them.
But
in
the
case
that
a
couple
of
our
low
bidders
didn't
show
up
on
bid
day,
we
wouldn't
be
so
lucky
to
be
able
to
accept
all
them.
So
again,
I
appreciate
the
design
team
putting
in
the
time
to
to
put
all
those
together.
L
L
So
if
you,
if
you
look
down
the
construction
cost
column,
that
leads
to
the
eight
hundred
four
thousand
one
sixty-two,
that's
the
construction
portion
of
the
accepted
alternates.
If
you
look
below
that
where
it
says
858,
443,
that's
after
adding
in
the
design
portion
and
the
reason
that's
important
is
when
you
look
to
the
total
construction
cost
number
that
big
group
2
is
you're,
basically
going
back
up
to
that
6
million
905
622.
That
was
her
for
a
big
group
2
and
then
you're,
adding
in
the
800
4,000
162.
L
Oh,
the
construction
cost
that
we
need
approve
for
big
group
with
all
the
alternates
is
7
million,
seven
hundred
nine
thousand
seven
hundred
eighty
four
for
a
total
construction
cost
of
ten
million.
Three
hundred
six
thousand
four
hundred
eighty
four,
oh
I'm
happy
to
go
through.
You
know
each
bid.
If
you
would
like
I've,
got
a
90
page
estimate.
I
can
sit
down
with
you,
I'm
pretty
sure
nobody
wants
to
do
that,
but
I
think
I'd
rather
field
questions.
L
E
J
G
N
D
It's
that's
always
gonna,
be
a
tricky
question
to
answer
for
two
reasons:
one
is
that
currently
not
being
able
to
offer
setting
D
or
level
four
services
within
our
school
district?
We
can't
when
we
are
at
an
IEP
team
meeting.
That's
just
not
an
offer
we
make.
We
have
several
students
that
do
come
into
our
school
district,
whether
it's
from
a
neighboring
state
that
might
have
that
setting
for
on
their
IEP.
D
But
then
within
coming
to
our
schools
and
doing
their
30-day
IEP
meeting,
we
would
have
to
switch
that
setting
and
they
would
either
have
to
switch
to
a
setting
C
program
that
we
offer
or
look
at
a
residential
facility.
So
it's
hard
to
say
what
numbers
are
out
there,
because
it
would
be
an
IEP
team
decision
on
that
need,
and
then
the
second
thing
is
depends
on
how
we
look
at
it
programmatically.
D
So
right
now
we
are
gonna,
have
an
elementary
wing
and
a
middle
school
wing
depending
on
the
students
that
qualify
and
what
the
IEP
team
say
is
best
suited
for
them.
We
would
then
determine
what
are
those
classes
gonna
look
like,
so
some
classes
might
have
two
students.
Some
classes
might
have
eight
students
just
depending
on
what
is
the
best
environment
for
each
of
the
students.
I
do
qualify
for
that
setting.
N
Thank
you
for
that
and
I
do
understand
that,
but
for
us
to
cook
at
12
million
in
building
costs,
I'm
thinking
about.
Where
is
the
money
coming
from
and
then
how
many
students
could
potentially
be
impacted
in
order
for
us
to
be
thinking
about
building,
we
must
have
some
sense
of
a
ballpark.
What
were
Eirene
mean?
Are
we
talking
20
students,
a
hundred
students?
We
must
have
a
guesstimate.
D
So
for
the
first
question,
where's,
the
building
coming
from
so
I
know
that
this
project
was
originally
when
we
did.
Our
long-range
financial
plan
stated
to
come
out
of
our
Building
Fund
and
then
at
a
previous
board
meeting
we
had
decided
to
move
towards
just
take
advantage
of
the
rates
that
we're
getting
right
now
and
bond
for
that
project.
So
that's
what
we're
doing
what
I
would
say
is
that
we
have
two
classroom
communities
with
four
classrooms.
D
Each
then
up
and
again
it's
tricky
because
I
I
don't
want
to
imply
that
there's
been
certain
zyv
already
been
identified
for
this,
because
that
would
take
away
from
our
process
of
making
sure
the
IEP
team
does
it
so
I
would
say
that
there
could
be
six
to
eight
students
in
any
classroom.
But
again
it's
gonna
determine
based
on
each
individual.
Students
need.
D
There's
been
a
program
at
central,
Cass
and
they're
working
towards
one
model
of
a
setting
D
program
that
they're
looking
at
and
I
believe
that
it
might
be
a
one
classroom
model.
When
we
originally
started
this
conversation,
the
intent
was
to
look
at
in
conversation
with
the
Explorer
Academy,
which
would
originally
serve
elementary
students
and
our
students
from
EDP,
but
down
the
road
West
Fargo,
potentially
having
a
vision
to
serve
a
middle
school
concept
at
their
heritage,
middle
school
and
I.
D
Just
haven't
had
recent
conversations
with
them
to
tell
you
where
they're
at
so
right
now.
Our
intention
is
to
provide
both
our
elementary
and
middle
school
students,
but
continue
those
conversations
with
West,
Fargo
and
I
think
this
would
be
an
opportunity
that
I
think
they
would
take
advantage
of
as
well
for
students
I
need
it
in
their
school
district.
So
collaboration
is
really
the
long-term
goal
and
it's
a
one
vision
to
be
able
to
provide
that
set
of
services
for
all
of
our
students
in
Cass
County.
So.
D
Am
implying
that
this
facility
is
currently
gonna
be
for
Fargo
public
schools,
first
based
on
need
and
availability.
If
there
is
a
set
of
services
that
we
can
offer
that
students
and
other
school
districts
need
and
we
have
space,
then
we
would
work
to
make
sure
that
we
provide
that
opportunity
for
students
from
whichever
school
districts
they
come
from.
Thank.
O
Seth
Thank
You,
president
Canson
I
have
a
question
about
further
anticipated
costs
for
staff
training.
This
is
clearly
a
service
we've
not
provided
before
in
our
district,
and
is
there
an
anticipation
that
certain
staff
members,
perhaps
pears
or
others,
will
need
specialized
training
or
are
they
already
in
place?
Thank
you.
D
There'd
need
both.
Probably
we
are
looking
at
further
specialized
training
for
staff
members
that
do
serve
at
the
Explorer
Academy
as
well,
and
then
we're
also
looking
at
how
do
we
provide
a
more
opportunity
for
training,
I
think
when
we
originally
presented
the
project,
we
had
a
soft
cost
of
what
the
operations
can
look
like,
and
what
some
of
that
pieces
can
look
like.
I
think
we're
still
working
through
some
of
that.
But
one
of
the
things
that
we're
talking
about
is
if
this
project
meets
the
deadline
and
opens
up
when
we
think
it.
D
Well,
then,
would
we
be
able
to
provide
extra
training
opportunities
during
the
summer
and
call
staff
in
for
some
additional
contract
day,
so
we
can
provide
them
to
the
PD
they
need.
But,
yes,
there
will
be
specialized
training
and
there
will
be
additional
training
needed
for
staff
members
in
this
building.
E
D
So
originally,
when
we
worked
with
West
Fargo,
we
had
talked
significantly
about
what
that
could
look
like
and
I.
Think.
Prior
to
my
time,
the
original
model
that
was
proposed
was
joint,
1
joint
project
and
then
that
was
kind
of
put
on
hold
prior
to
May
becoming
superintendent.
And
then
we
want
this
new
route
and
I
think
when
we
want
this
new
route.
D
D
So
we
could
take
advantage
of
that,
which
is
why
we
looked
at
an
elementary
model
and
attached
to
an
elementary
school
and
I
believe
the
pre-work
that
West
Fargo
did
at
one
point
in
time
with
y
HR
was
at
Heritage
middle
school.
So
that
could
be
the
partnership
that
we're
looking
at
and
something
that
we've
talked
with
central
Cass
is
about
is,
could
maybe
a
potential
long-term
solution
for
early
childhood
or
the
younger
youths
as
well.
So
we
separate
the
primary
grades
at
the
elementary
level.
A
I
Thank
Nikki
for
bringing
up
I
I'm
very
concerned
with
voting
to
approve
a
12
million
dollar
building
when
I
have
absolutely
no
idea
how
many
kids
are
going
to
be
in
that
building.
If
this
we're
going
to
I
mean
it's
a
phenomenal
building,
you've
done
an
incredible
job
in
design.
I
Ord
leveled
these
schools
in
in
in
many
in
Minnesota,
it's
a
fantastic
educational
setting,
but
you
know
we
have
to
be
responsible
as
a
board
to
pay
for
this
thing
and
to
it's
a
huge
amount.
I
D
David
I
think
I
would
challenge
you
and
your
mindset
a
little
bit
there,
because
I
think
I,
wouldn't
look
at
10
or
15.
Kids
is
not
a
investment
that
we
should
be
making
as
a
district
I
think
this
project.
What
this
project
tells
you
is
that
there's
a
significant
need
and-
and
we
want
to
really
talk
about
terms
of
equity-
it's
not
spending
the
same
amount
of
dollars
on
every
kid.
D
It's
knowing
that
kids
have
different
needs
and
there
might
be
a
small
group
of
kids
that
need
a
more
special
specialized
environment,
as
you
know,
from
the
conversations
that
not
only
have
we
had
at
negotiations
for
the
past
couple
of
years,
but
all
of
the
data
that's
been
shared
in
our
school
district.
There
is
a
trickle
effect
if
there
are
students
that
currently
have
a
need
for
a
setting
in
which
they
can't
focus
on
their
grade
level.
D
Academics,
because
the
industrial
light
that
we're
sitting
under
right
now
could
be
a
trigger
or
the
sound
system
from
the
HVAC
can
be
a
trigger
oftentimes.
What
that
trigger
results
in
is
a
manifestation
of
a
behavior
and
then
what
happens
because
of
the
way
we
view
an
approach.
It
is
not
having
another
solution.
We
try
to
solve
the
behavior
instead
of
actually
focusing
on
the
trigger
that
causes
the
behavior
for
that
student
and
then
we're
in
this
perpetual
cycle
of
saying
we're.
D
The
school
system
and
that's
also
dependent
on
insurance
and
some
other
things.
So
you
know,
I
would
really
challenge
us
to
say
that
if
we
are
going
to
only
look
at
the
investment
in
this
in
terms
of
the
square
footage
or
what,
how
many
kids
that
we're
serving
then
we're
working
from
that
mindset
that
every
kid
deserves
the
exact
same.
And
unfortunately
that's
just
not
the
case.
G
I
think
there
was
a
picture
about
three
people
watching
over
a
fence
and
they
all
had
boxes
and
the
one
tall
student
didn't
need
the
box,
but
the
real
short
student
needed
the
box.
So
the
tall
student
took
his
box
away
and
gave
it
to
us
to
the
small
student.
So
then,
all
three
could
still
see
over
the
fence,
even
though
the
tall
student
didn't
have
the
box
so
I.
G
P
I
guess
my
comments
would
be
when
you
talk
about
I,
think
it's
understood
by
all
of
us
sitting
in
here
that
all
students,
some
students
needs,
are
higher
or
different
than
others,
and
some
come
at
well,
a
variety
of
varying
costs,
so
I,
don't
I,
don't
feel
like
that's
what
I
was
hearing
I
feel
like
what
I'm
hearing
is
at
this
point
in
time,
so
we've
committed
to
a
facility.
Are
there
opportunities,
though,
to
partner
and
find
those
partners
to
invest
now
versus
taking
on
all
of
this
cost
as
Fargo
public
schools?
P
D
I
think
that's
a
great
question
and
I
think
I
think
there's
two
areas
of
partnerships
that
we've
already
identified
that
been
pretty
significant.
One
is
TNT
and
the
work
that
they
do
and
I
think
we
had
them
come
out
and
present
what
we
presented
the
full
project
on
just
the
impact
of
the
movement
therapy
that
they
do
and
being
able
to
be
able
to
provide
that
service
to
our
students.
D
So
we
have
a
really
good
partnership
with
them,
where
we're
gonna
be
able
to
utilize
with
their
expertise,
a
sensory
gym
that
our
students
are
gonna,
be
able
to
take
advantage
of
there's
absolutely
no
way
that
level
of
sensory
gym
would
have
been
a
an
opportunity
that
we
could
have
provided
without
that
partnership.
The
second
partnership
that
we're
gonna
be
able
to
offer
at
this
facility,
which
we
haven't
talked
about
much
but
which
I
think
I'm
extremely
excited
about.
It's
gonna
be
the
makerspace
we
are
actually
going
to
be
able
to.
D
Instead
of
investing
in
our
own
fme
on
that
makerspace,
that's
gonna
be
at
the
Explorer
Academy
at
Lois,
&
Clark.
We
are
partnering
with
the
North
Dakota
Center
for
distance
ed
that
already
have
an
existing
smart
lab
and
we've
already
entered
a
contractual
agreement
with
them,
where
they're
gonna
be
able
to
relocate
their
smart
lab
into
the
Explorer
Academy
use
it
non
during
during
the
non-school
hours.
So
we
can
use
it
during
the
school
hours
and
then
there's
able
to
use
that.
So
we
are
exploring
those
opportunities
for
partnership.
D
J
C
Just
want
to
make
sure
everybody's
aware
of
the
fact
that
if
we
don't
approve
this,
we
already
spent
2.6
million
plus
because
we
approved
the
package
one
at
a
previous
board
meeting.
Those
bids
have
already
been
left
and
those
are
dollars
were
already
obligated
to.
So.
If
we
were
to
vote
against
a
bid
package,
number
two
we'll
have
some
stuff
to
figure
out
what
to
do
with
based
upon
the
2.6
million
we
already
approved,
because
I
can
pretty
much
assure
you
all
of
those
particular
bid.
Winners
intend
to
collect
on
their
contract.
O
You
I
would
just
like
to
add
that
this
is
really
these
type
of
settings
are
the
national
standard.
It's
it's.
My
understanding
that
North
Dakota
is
one
of
only
six
states
in
our
country
that
doesn't
have
a
facility
like
this
and
personally
I
would
be
proud
for
Fargo
public
schools
to
bring
that
to
our
state
and
really
be
innovative
in
leading
this
and
secondly,
to
the
numbers
question:
it's
it's
my
understanding.
O
It's
kind
of
a
fluid
number
I
mean
you
have
to
have
very
specific
qualifications
to
enter
this
program,
but
from
what
I've
seen
in
other
states,
they're
constantly
working
on
an
exit
strategy
and
the
goal
is
always
to
transition
the
children
back
into
the
mainstream
classroom.
So
to
get
this
idea
of
a
concrete
number,
it
would
really
be
a
snapshot
in
time
and
I.
Just
echo
other
sentiments
that
you
know
we
were
serving
these
children
that
really
need
it.
Thank.
M
Think
we
also
you
as
a
board,
have
also
approved
the
purchase
of
a
another
district
office
in
the
RTO
building,
and
we
will
be
paying
for
that
out
of
fund
balance.
So
if
you
would
choose
to,
we
don't
have
the
capacity
to
pay
for
both
of
these
out
of
fund
balance
and
I
still
firmly
believe
that
bonding
for
this
building
was
the
right
choice.
I
Just
wanted
to
say
that
I
apparently
I
did
a
poor
job
of
explaining
myself.
I,
wasn't
saying
that
if
this
we're
only
going
to
be
utilized
by
ten
people
that
we
don't
use,
it
I
think
we
should
have
a
contingency
plan
to
see
that
a
fantastic
facility
like
this
isn't
available.
So
it
can
be
fully
utilized
now.
West
Fargo
is
only
one
example:
I'm
sure
that
that
central
Cass
has
children
that
could
benefit
from
a
setting
D
I'm
sure
that
Kendra
does
I.
D
So
sorry,
if
I,
if
I
misinterpreted
that
but
I
wholeheartedly
agree
and
I,
think
the
commitment
that
you'll
have
from
administration
is
that
if
there
is
space
knowing
that
there's
a
continuum
of
services
and
the
number
of
students
at
any
point
of
time,
could
change,
we
will
explore
the
opportunity
for
any
school
district.
That
wants
to
take
advantage
of
that
opportunity
and
they're
willing
to
provide
that
transportation
to
their
kids.
We
would
not.
We
would
have
no
reservations
around
taking
any
students
that
can
benefit
as
long
as
we
have
the
space
and
Jackie
I.
M
Just
add
to
that
that
students
coming
into
this
building
from
outside
of
the
district
would
need
to
follow
the
procedures
that
any
other
student
that
we
serve
from
another
district
does
there
has
to
be.
You
know
that
referral
the
tuition
agreement
so
when
those
students
do
come
in,
they
could
come
in
from
Bismarck
from
anywhere.
We
currently
serve
students
from
all
over
the
state
and
and
within
that
our
tuition
agreement
will
recoup.
You
know
some
of
those
costs,
we'll
factor
that
into
the
rates
that
we
have
so
just
want
to
make
you
aware
of
that.
M
N
Thank
You
president
Knutson
dr.
Gandhi,
some
questions
that
I've
received
from
parents
I'm
not
against
the
facility
itself,
I
subscribe
to
what
Tracy
shares
that
I
think
it
would
be
something
wise
for
our
district
to
have.
There
is
a
lot
of
fear
out
there
and
I.
Don't
know
if
there
is
misunderstanding
or
lack
of
information,
but
some
of
the
questions
that
parents
have
approached
me
concerned
with
is
who
decides
which
kids
attend
here?
How
does
that
process
work?
N
The
second
piece
of
that
is:
is
there
a
solid
plan
if
their
child
attends
the
Explorer
Academy?
Is
there
a
plan?
Are
there
benchmarks,
how
do
parents
and
students
know
how
and
when
to
aim
for
re-entry
back
into
a
regular
classroom
setting?
And
thirdly,
how
are
we
gonna
staff
this
when
there
are
struggles
with
hiring
Parra's
for
the
classrooms
themselves,
I've
heard
from
parents
who
have
said
once
we
got
a
para
and
it
took
months
to
get
that
para,
that
my
child
was
able
to
settle
in
well
and
then
koban
hit
so
whole
new
ballgame.
N
D
Thank
you.
Those
are
great
questions
and
questions
that
we
have
heard
as
well
and
I
think
you
know
I
think
I
want
to
start
with
a
little
bit
of
a
history
before
my
time
as
well
and
just
meeting
with
some
of
the
parents.
I
have
some
high
level
of
concerns
with
this
community
I
think
we
as
Fargo
public
schools
need
to
earn
the
trust
of
certain
of
parents.
D
There
is
a
perception
that
this
is
going
to
be
a
school
behavior
problems,
and
that
is
absolutely
not
the
case
and
no
matter
how
much
I
say
it
until
that
day
comes
where
we
can
show
the
level
of
services
that
we're
providing
at
this
school
and
our
intent
is
to
provide
an
atmosphere
and
where
students
don't
have
to
have
their
behaviors
triggered.
I
think
we're
just
gonna
keep
working
and
doing
what
we're
doing
tonight,
which
is
normally.
D
We
don't
have
a
practice
of
representing
a
project
when
we're
voting
on
the
bid
package,
two
of
it,
but
we're
doing
that
today
to
show
to
our
community
that
we
are
still
honoring.
The
commitment
that
we
made
when
we
presented
this
in
September
and
that's
not
going
to
change,
and
we
want
to
continue
that,
but
I
completely
understand
the
fear
and
reservations
that
some
of
our
parents
have,
because
of
whatever,
whether
it's
perceptions
or
past
mistrust
or
things
that
we
could
have
and
should
have
done
better
as
a
school
district.
D
But
what
you
have
from
us
is
our
commitment,
and
this
is
where
we're
heading
moving
forward
specifically
to
answer
your
question
in
terms
of
who
decides
that
will
always
be
an
IEP
team
decision.
A
setting
D
level
for
facility
is
a
facility
determined
by
the
IEP
team
and,
and
that
is
why
I've
been
so
hesitant
today
to
provide
any
other
numbers,
because
we
are
not
pre
identifying
kids.
We
are
not
saying
this
as
a
kid
for
certain
behaviors.
D
D
Is
there
a
solid
plan
and
benchmarks
for
re-entry?
There
is
so
there's
two
pieces
to
that
question.
One
is
that
there
is
a
progress
monitoring
component,
that's
part
of
every
student's
IEP.
So
when
students
are
on
an
IEP,
we
have
to
set
benchmarks
for
the
progress
that
we
want
to
monitor
and
then,
when
you've
monitor
that
progress,
the
IEP
team
discusses
is
that
progress
being
made
because
of
the
accommodations
because
of
the
setting
and
at
any
IEP
meeting
team
meeting.
D
When
you
monitor
that
progress,
you
can
have
a
conversation
about
that
students,
placement
being
attached
to
Lewis
and
Clark
and
having
that
free
flow
ability
for
students
that
most
setting
D
schools,
especially
if
you
look
in
the
ones
that
we
visit
in
the
cities
don't
have
allows
for
a
unique
opportunity
for
more
integration
where
you
can
be
in
a
setting,
D
school,
but
maybe
part
of
the
day.
You
want
to
go
into
Lewis
and
Clark
for
an
ancillary
or
a
different
set
of
services.
D
All
of
those
options
are
available
with
the
IEP
team,
and
maybe
it's
part
of
the
day
here
and
part
of
the
day
at
the
children's
home
school
I.
Think
we
allow
for
that
flexibility
in
the
IEP
team
to
work
on
that
when
we
did
our
task
force
on
LR
ad
last
year,
making
sure
that
we
had
a
targeted,
consistent,
reentry
plan
was
a
ask
and
just
something
that
we
absolutely
have
to
do
so.
D
I
think
we
do
need
to
work
from
the
mindset
that
there
what
this
is
not
a
permanent
home
for
students,
but
this
is
a
temporary
placement
and
we
need
to
create
what
that
exit.
An
entrance
criteria
is
for
students,
but
I
think
the
part
of
that
work
is
for
the
staff
that
happens
there.
I
couldn't
I
can't
agree
with
more
that.
We
need
to
focus
on
staff
and
we
need
to
make
sure
that
we
have
the
appropriate
staff
at
that
building.
D
D
Part
of
that
operational
conversation
was
been
put
on
hold
because
of
copán
19,
but
also
we
lead
with
construction
because
it
takes
a
little
bit
longer
and
that's
the
work
that
we
have
for
this
year
to
determine.
How
are
we
going
to
set
the
building?
What
is
the
training
we're
going
to
provide?
We
already
have
an
internal
task
force
working
on
that,
but
we
would
be
happy
to
share
that
information
with
the
board,
as
we
continue
to
flesh
that
out.
G
Know,
students
are
always
placed
in
their
least
restrictive
environment
and
dr.
Gandhi
has
a
background
in
special
Gatien
and
there's
policies
and
our
handbooks
that
say
that
parents
can,
you
know,
go
up
the
chain
of
command
if
they're
not
unhappy
or
happy
with
something
to
talk
about
the
caste
central
caste
thing,
as
many
of
you
know,
I'm
superintendent
down
in
Fairmont,
and
so
our
rural
Cass
and
southern
Valley
specialized
units
got
together
and
formed
this
unit
or
this
room
because
we
didn't
think
there'd
be
any
seats
available
in
the
Fargo
one.
G
So
that's
what
we're
doing,
although
I'm
not
I,
would
have.
Rather
after
having
seen
this
plan
of
things,
I
wish,
we
could
have
bought
seats
through
the
Fargo
if
it
happened.
So
that
kind
of
just
give
you
a
little
bit
more
history
of
where
it
what
central
Cass
is
and
that
we're
all
trying
to
explore.
Cuz
we're
all
in
the
same
boat,
not
just
Fargo,
but
all
the
the
outlining
communities
as
well.
E
Thank
you,
Brian
well,
I
I
feel
like
there
is
not
a
lot
up
in
the
air
regarding
this
project.
In
terms
of,
are
there
questions
for
needing
to
move
forward
or
not?
I
think
that
we
have
done
a
lot
of
research
in
our
community.
We've
involved
a
lot
of
community
citizens
experts.
We
we've
kind
of
gone
through
this
process.
E
My
feeling
is
that
they
deserve
that
that
we
need
to
honor
the
needs
of
those
students
and
so
I
don't
have
any
doubts
that
we
should
be
moving
forward
and
don't
have
any
problems
committing
the
dollars
to
do
so
and
as
we
talked
about
this
at
quite
some
time
ago,
we
knew
that
this
was
going
to
be
a
heavy
lift
financially
for
the
district.
But
there
are
some
very
good
reasons.
E
There's
the
you
know,
there's
the
thicker
drywall,
and
you
know
some
of
the
things
that
that
you
can't
see
that's
behind
in
the
construction,
but
in
terms
of
some
of
the
additional
features
that
really
help
those
students
get
get
into
their
best
positive
environment.
To
learn.
I
think
we
need
those
with
those
alternates.
So,
if
they're,
but
we've
had
a
really
great
dialogue
here
today
and
with
three
new
board
members
I
thank
you
for
coming
and
presenting
to
us
so
that
we
can
learn
and
be
reminded
to
those
of
us
have.
E
F
C
J
J
I
O
E
Okay,
the
next
item:
we
have
three
items
under
board
reports:
item
a
is
the
July
30th
board
work
session.
There
is
a
draft
agenda
here
at
our
each
of
our
spots,
so
this
is
Thursday
July
30th
here
in
this
room,
beginning
at
8:00
a.m.
with
the
thought
that
will
be
here
till
3:00.
Sometimes
we
end
up
leaving
a
little
sooner,
but
everyone
should
plan
for
that
time
period.
Is
there
anyone
that
has
indicated
maybe
to
Ann
Marie
that
they're
not
able
to
be
in
attendance?
E
Okay,
I
continue
to
okay
yep.
There
could
be
the
opportunity
to
call
in
so
continue
if
you
can
communicate
to
Ann
Marie.
If
there's
anything
that
comes
up
in
your
schedule
where
you
aren't
able
to
attend,
but
I
would
ask
that
we
all
consider
this
to
be
something
just
as
important
as
coming
to
any
other
board
or
committee
meeting,
and
it
provides
the
opportunity
for
us
to
have
some
very
good,
healthy,
open
dialogue
regarding
the
items
on
the
agenda.
Are
there
any
questions
regarding
the
items
that
are
on
the
agenda
right
now,
Robin
you.
A
Will
notice
that
we,
we
kind
of
added
in
discussion
on
future
board,
meeting
and
committee
meeting
formats?
I
was
involved
in
this
as
board
president.
What
is
what
is
our
reentry
plan
and
it's
for
committee
meetings
and
board
meetings,
and
so
we
felt
it
was
prudent
to
discuss
it
at
this
at
this
in
this
venue
that.
E
E
And
regarding
the
governance
model
right
there,
starting
out
at
ADM,
I
will
be
meeting
with
Ruth
back
to
tomorrow
morning
to
go
through
some
of
the
items
on
the
work
session
and
Robyn
has
sent
me
some
information
regarding
that
first
item
on
our
on
our
agenda,
so
I
see
we're
going
to
be
having
a
collaborative
approach
I
see
in
order
to
have
a
successful
work
session,
so
Ruth,
Park
and
I
will
talk
about
kind
of.
Where
is
it?
Where
is
it
board
led?
P
My
question
would
be
I
know
that
there
were
a
healthy
list
of
items
considered
at
governance,
but
perhaps
it
would
be
something
that
those
on
governance
could
share
so
that
the
new
board
members
could
hear
that
and
I
know.
There
was
some
debate
about
what
was
all
included
in
a
couple
of
these
items.
Well,
what
there
would
be
time
for
so
if
that
could
be
discussed,
that
would
be
helpful.
P
E
I,
don't
have
my
notes
from
governance
here
right
now.
I
know
that
these
are
the
items
that
we
decided
with
the
addition
that
Robyn
mentioned
to
have
on
the
agenda
Robyn.
If
you
have
anything
to
add
and
then
also
there
is
a
Governance
Committee
meeting
July
23rd
I
know
that
gets
close
to
the
the
date
of
the
30th
work
session,
but
we
can
discuss
it
even
more
at
governance
but
Robyn
and
please
yeah.
A
I
can't
remember
either
Jennifer,
but
I
do
know
from
the
governance
model.
We
thought
it
would
be
good,
since
there
are
new
board
members
to
give
an
overview
of
the
our
governance
model,
and
so
the
information
that
I
forwarded
to
Rebecca
were
just
tools
and
pieces
and
comments
that
different
people
gave
to
me
that
I
was
filing
and
so
I
just
just
kind
of
made
the
handoff.
So
a
good
introduction
for
the
new
members.
P
You've
got
a
re-entry
plan
and
discussion.
You've
got
attendance,
boundaries
future
board
meetings
in
community
format.
Could
you
just
kind
of
touch
on
like
what
does
that
mean?
Are
we
talking
about
all
our
facilities?
There
were.
There
was
some
discussion
about
what
was
presented
a
few
years
ago,
a
work
retreat
being
included
or
not
included,
so
I'm
just
curious.
What
to
expect
what
data
I
should
review?
What.
E
Yep
and
we
will
have
some
information
that
gets
sent
to
all
the
board
members
ahead
of
time
too,
but
just
I
guess
I'm
kind
of
working
backwards
a
little
bit
here.
The
discussion
on
future
board
meetings
and
committee
meeting
formats
I
believe
what
what
Robin
was
meaning
about.
That
is
a
discussion
on.
When
do
we
decide
to
you
know?
Do
we
keep
our
committee
meetings
on
zoom',
for
example,
or
do
we
start
to
meet
in
person?
How
do
we
work
to
include
the
public?
You
know
at
our
meetings
versus
right
now.
E
It's
you
know
there
it's
accessible
via
zoom,
so
there's
there's
some
discussion
out
there,
of
course,
that
you
know
it's
a
little
bit
more
difficult
to
have
us.
Have
that
true
community
dialogue,
when
we
don't
have
community
members
able
to
be
in
the
room
part
of
that
has
to
do
with
the
size
of
our
room
and
how
far
apart
we
need
to
be
from
each
other
just
to
do
our
business,
but
I
believe
that
that's
what
that
item
is
about
then
backing
up
the
school
reentry
plan,
review
and
discussion,
dr.
Gandhi,
yeah.
D
You
know
until
today
we
didn't
know
what
the
parameters
were.
Gonna
be,
but
I
think
our
plan
at
that
point
is
to
share
everything
that
we've
done
so
far
and
what
we
have
for
our
plans
for
for
re-entry
and
what
that
could
look
like
so
I
expect
I,
think
we've
allocated
an
hour
and
a
half
and
I
think
we're
thinking
at
least
45
minutes
of
a
presentation
and
45
minutes
of
question.
D
Maybe
that
could
change
a
little
bit
here
there,
but
really
want
to
talk
through
the
board
as
an
institution
our
size
as
we
talk
about
potential
reopening
of
schools.
What
could
that
look
like
and
what
we've
developed
in
terms
of
a
plan
and
how
we
plan
to
move
forward
based
on
the
changing
information
on
kovat,
so
that
would
be
the
school
reentry
and
plan
I.
Think
what
we
had
talked
about
for
the
attendance
boundary
conversation
was.
D
P
B
That
governance
I
mean
you
guys
talked
about
that
as
far
as
putting
Madison
McKinley.
Some
of
those
other
conversations
through
our
governance
discussion
we
had
landed
on
these
items
and
like
the
Madison,
McKinley
and
overall
class
sizes
that
you
had
talked
about
would
be
more
of
a
long
long
range
facility
planning
conversation
like
dr.
Gandhi
said
the
attendance
boundaries
was
placed
here
through
a
board
motion
as
well,
and
we
were
anticipating
a
little
bit
of
a
lengthy
conversation,
probably
about
tendance
and
boundaries
in
itself.
E
Thank
you
for
that
reminder.
I
would
say
that,
if
there
aren't
other
is
if
there
is
another
discussion
regarding
the
work
session
this
evening
from
board
members,
if
you
have
anything
that
comes
to
your
mind,
send
it
my
way
and
we
can
have
a
discussion
on
it.
E
If
you
want
to
discuss
something
and
we'll
go
from
there
right
now,
I
see
that
these
are
items
that
that
we
really
need
be
addressing,
and
so,
if
there
is
room
for
something
else
that
seems
pertinent,
then
we
would
add
it
there's
also
the
opportunity
for
us
to
have
like
a
mini
work
session
after
a
board
meeting.
If
we
discover
something
that
needs
to
be,
you
know
also
address,
but
we
don't
have
time
on
that
day
all
right.
E
Thank
you
all
right,
committee
liaison
and
correspondence
reports.
This
might
be
a
little
bit
of
a
shorter
part
on
our
agenda.
But
let's
see
why
don't
we
just
start
going
around
the
room.
Still
I
know
that
we
are
anne-marie.
Is
it
on
the
August
11th
agenda
that
we
will
have
committee
assignments
brought
forward
correct.
E
So
any
board
members,
and
especially
new
board
members,
if
you
have
ideas
in
terms
of
specific
committees
that
you
feel
like
you
would
do
well
on
with
your
professional
expertise
or
personal
expertise
or
just
your
interest
I'm
send
that
to
anne-marie.
If
you
have
any
questions,
you
could
contact
me
definitely,
and
so
we
will
work
on
assigning
those
committee
assignments.
E
Then,
at
that
meeting
on
the
11th
in
August
and
committee
chairs,
for
that
as
well
and
then
in
regard
to
the
school
liaison
assignments,
that's
something
that
anne-marie
puts
together
for
us
so
and
then
that's
on
a
rotating
schedule
and
then
also
in
terms
of
outside
liaison
assignments.
If
there
are
ones
that
you
see
that
or
feel
that
you
would
naturally
gravitate
to
or
are
interested
in,
let
us
know
that
as
well,
so
we
can
make
those
assignments.
E
O
You
I
do
have
a
report
actually
on
June
23rd.
We
knew
people
had
our
school
board
member
orientation
here
at
the
district
office
on
June
26th
I
had
a
meeting
with
superintendent
Gandhi
on
July
1st
I
took
part
in
a
covert
call
with
the
state
superintendent
Bayes
ler,
which
was
all
focused
on
reopening
and
what
that
might
look
like,
which
we
all
heard
more
about
today
and
then
on.
O
July
7th
I
was
able
to
be
a
part
of
a
meeting
with
the
administration
and
Cass
County
Public
Health
regarding
specifically
rfps
school
reentry
plan,
and
then
following
that
there
was
a
communications
team
meeting
regarding
the
layout
of
that
plan
and
the
timeline
I
am
registered
for
the
July
21st
governor's
summit
on
innovative
education,
which
I
think
is
next
week
already
it's
all
virtual
this
year
and
then
I
just
wanted
to
share
a
cool
collaboration.
I
learned
about
this
week
between
Sanford
and
Fargo,
public
schools
on
August
5th
and
6th.
O
Some
pediatricians
will
be
providing
sports
physicals
in
Fargo
south
and
in
Carl
Ben
middle
school,
free
of
charge
or
they're
free
to
the
families,
and
this
is
looking
to
target
children
who
might
not
always
have
access
to
this
service
or
families
who
maybe
can't
afford
it.
So
I
am
one
of
the
providers
doing
those
and
we're
very
excited
about
it.
Thank
you.
F
As
well
attended
new
member
orientation
and
also
had
a
one-on-one
meeting
with
dr.
Gandhi
and
other
than
that,
I
guess
pretty
much
just
been
doing
some
research
on
my
of
my
own
on
some
of
the
topics
that
I
know
we're
coming
up
that
are
pretty
important.
So
that's
what
I've
been
doing.
That's
my
report.
Thank.
P
So
I'll
just
comment
on,
and
constituents
and
reports
here
and
first
start
by
saying
that
you
know
I
know
that
we
all
received
these
questions
and
I've
continued
to
receive
questions
around
recent
conversations,
concerns
around
grandfathering
or
not
grandfathering,
and
what
that
means
specifically
to
families
and
so
I
think
that
there
needs
to
maybe
be
a
heightened
level
of
conversation
around.
What
does
that
look
like
how
many
families
will
be
affected
and
how
will
that
play
out
for
some,
because
that
can
add
some
significant
challenges
to
families
so
also
around
proximity
to
schools.
P
I
get
a
lot
of
questions
about
that
and
and
around
our
guiding
principles
and
how
they're
being
applied
in
one
area
of
the
district
versus
another.
And
so
you
know.
The
other
thing
that
I
will
say
is
that,
since
the
last
board
meeting
especially
I've
received
a
lot
of
correspondence,
actually
thanking
me
for
pointing
out
the
inconsistencies
in
some
of
the
data
that
we
use
in
our
analysis,
to
build
these
boundary
scenarios
and
unfortunately
I
many
of
you
have
heard.
P
I
was
accused
by
board
members
at
the
last
meeting
of
being
wildly
out
of
order
or
making
wild
out-of-order
accusations,
as
it
relates
to
this
topic
and
I
just
I
want
to
say
our
SP
has
pointed
out.
These
inconsistencies
in
the
data
and
the
analysis
that
is
being
used,
and
importantly,
we
haven't
modified
our
approach.
So
I
think
that
this
is
information
we
need
to.
P
P
Additionally,
you
know
if
any
of
you
well
according
to
board
policy,
G
12
G
p12
I'm
still
perplexed
at
how
all
of
this
came
about,
because
that
policy
it
states
a
private
conversation,
is
supposed
to
be
it's
supposed
to
happen
before
any
accusation
are
made
of
a
board
member
that
never
happened,
and
this
information
was
never
given
to
me.
So,
as
you
can
imagine,
it
was
a
surprise.
I
was
shocked.
I
didn't
even
understand
what
it
all
meant.
What
the
consequences
of
this
type
of
accusation
could
mean
for
me.
I
had
so
many
questions.
P
P
I
C
A
Robyn
June
27th,
with
the
Governance
Committee
on
June
30th
I,
went
to
a
meeting
about
with
Davey
Davey's
basketball
families,
July
1st
I
was
I,
think
I
think
we
would
we
most
of
our
board.
Members
were
on
that
call
with
superintendent
Baylor
on
July
1st
I
heard
her
letter.
A
You
speak,
so
thank
you
for
everybody
that
participated
in
that
on
July
9th
was
in
a
p12
Alliance
meeting,
and
this
is
I
represent
the
school
board
position
and
what's
nice
about
this,
is
we
are
doing
interviews
about
how
different
constituents
beats
constituencies
feel
about
spring
learning
and
reentry
plans,
so
we're
getting
some
feedback
there
too,
and
then
of
course,
I
had
several
radio
and
TV
interviews
regarding
the
reopening
process
and
school
naming
policy
and
I
kept
on
telling
them.
We
don't
have
answers.
A
Thank
you
for
your
patience,
but
I
can't
tell
you
about
the
process
and
then
for
the
next
governance
committee.
Just
so,
you
know,
because
it
was
a
little
clumsy
last
time
before
the
assignments
are
made,
because
the
meeting
will
happen
before
the
assignments
are
made
so
so
put
some
thought
into
who
needs
to
be
participating
in
that
cuz
I
think
it
would
just
be
you
and
I
and
Jim
currently
yeah.
E
Thank
you
for
mentioning
that
our
committee
meetings
are
open
to
all
of
us,
but
the
the
participants
are
the
chairs,
so
at
that
meeting
right
it
would
be
in
terms
of
official
participation
because
of
appointment.
It
would
be
Robin
and
Jim
and
myself,
but
feel
free
to
call
in
and
and
listen
in
and
learn
if
you,
if
you
would
like
if
it
works
with
your
schedule,
Brian
nothing.
N
Nicky
well
gee,
now
I'm
disappointed
I
don't
get
to
go
to
one
either
mm-hmm
I
haven't
done
a
whole
lot
again.
New
member
orientation
one-on-one
with
dr.
Gandhi
I've,
done
my
fair
share
of
reentry
seminars:
National
School,
Board,
Association,
CDC,
PTA,
k12
insights,
so
I'm
getting
a
lot
of
information,
but
no
solid
direction,
so
I'm
anxious
to
catch
up
on
that
work
and
just
dig
in
Thanks.
E
Thank
You
Nicki-
this
isn't
in
any
particular
order,
but
it's
what
I've
been
up
to
I
also
was
on.
The
call
with
dr.
was
superintendent
Bayes
ler
regarding
kovat
the
Native
American
Commission
met
last
week.
That
was
the
first
meeting
of
that
Commission
since
and
I
serve
on
that
as
a
board
member.
That's
the
first
time
that
we've
met
since
kovat
I
already
mentioned.
Governance
meets
on
the
23rd
at
7:30
a.m.
E
I,
attended
the
governor's
press
briefing
today,
and
hopefully
quite
a
few
of
us
were
able
to
be
on
that
took
a
lot
of
notes
and
intend
to
listen
to
the
comments
again.
So
if
you
didn't
have
a
chance
to
I,
encourage
you
to
do
so,
because
he
he
definitely
put
the
charge
out
to
the
board
to
board
members
to
be
really
involved
in
that
in
that
discussion.
Ultimately
deciding
so
I
think
with
our
policy
governance
and
and
how
what
we
have
in
terms
of
our
roles
as
board
members.
E
We're
going
to
need
to
have
some
kind
of
a
conversation
to
determine
what
that
means
in
terms
of
our
involvement
in
making
those
decisions
on
the
plans
for
getting
back
to
school,
July
15th
I'm
going
to
be
involved,
there's
a
webinar,
that's
tomorrow
on
staffing,
that
is
sponsored
by
Andy
SBA
and
NDC.
E/L
and
Robin
forwarded
that
information
to
me.
It's
one
that
they're
there
wanted
to
make
sure
that
only
one
person
from
a
school
district
attends
I
do
to
public
notice
and
that
type
of
a
deal,
so
they
sent
the
information
to
the
president.
E
So
I'll
sit
in
on
that
and
report
back
what
what
I
need
to
the
school
board?
Informational
training
that
NDS
ba
is
putting
on
that
is
July,
22nd,
I,
think
if
you
haven't
registered
for
it
and
you
want
to
it's
free
and
I'm
sure
registration
is
still
open.
There
is
also
that
governor
summit
on
innovative
education
I've
attended
that
once
before
and
I
that's
July
21st
it's
throughout
the
day,
but
attend
as
much
as
you
want
and
again.
If
free
these
are
good
things
for
us.
We
can.
E
You
know
cast
a
wide
net
and
learn
as
much
as
we
can
and
the
board
did
approve
a
change
in
our
policy
for
our
attendance
at
the
National,
School,
Boards
Association
conference,
and
so
seeing
some
of
these
free
virtual
opportunities
come
through
I
think
it
doesn't
hurt
it
again.
It's
it's
information
for
us
to
gather
and
then
see
you
know.
Is
there
anything
that
applies
here?
So
those
would
be
the
not
only
the
details
of
my
report
I
think
tomorrow.
E
D
I
know
it's
I
had
my
report
earlier,
but
I
just
kinda
wanted
to
chime
in
and
just
say,
first
off
welcome
to
our
three
new
board
members
as
well
and
as
we
start
the
next
school
year
today,
just
even
talking
about
the
Explorer
Academy
and
some
of
the
other
topics.
We've
had
some
really
rich
conversations,
and
please
know
that
administration
does
appreciate
that.
So
we
don't.
We
think
that
we
owe
it
to
our
students
and
our
community
to
have
some
of
these
conversations.
D
So,
especially
as
I
look
at
our
new
board
members,
please
bring
the
questions
that
you
are
hearing
from
constituents.
Please
bring
the
questions
that
you're
hearing
from
our
staff
members.
We
don't
ever
want
to
come
off
as
defensive
or
anything
of
that
nature.
It's
the
reality
of
the
situation
is
that
by
questioning
one
another
and
having
good
intent
we
get
to
where
we
need
to
get
to,
and
it's
better
for
our
community
to
hear
that
conversation
so
I
encourage
that
and
I
hope
that
that
continues
as
well
so
welcome.
But
thank
you
yes.
E
Thank
you
all
right,
that
takes
care
of
item
seven
board
reports.
Number
eight
is
an
out
is
announcing
our
next
meeting,
which
is
August
11th
at
5:30
p.m.
in
this
room,
we'll
be
in
person
like
it
is
right
now,
unless
we've
decided
to
make
any
changes
to
that,
and
we
are
able
to
adjourn
this
meeting
at
7:16
p.m.
E
And
we
have
to
start
another
meeting
very
quickly:
okay,
7:17
p.m.
on
July
14th.
This
is
the
meeting
of
the
Fargo
school
district
building
authority
and
it
is
the
annual
meeting
and
we
have
an
agenda
in
front
of
us.
Is
there
a
motion?
Maybe
I
don't
need
a
motion
for
approval,
it
doesn't
say:
I.
Do
okay,
we're
going
on
to
number
two
election
of
the
Board
of
Directors?
Is
there
a
motion?
Jim
yeah.
