From YouTube: The New Data Economy Unlocked by FVM - Molly Mackinlay
Description
"Countdown to FVM was a one-day event leading up to the launch of Filecoin’s Virtual Machine on mainnet (which happened March 14th, 2023).
This jam-packed event featured exclusive FVM content, builders showcase, and so much more.
Tune in to learn about the possibilities unlocked by FVM and hear from the pioneers building on FVM!

A
So,
as
Colin
was
mentioning
and
others
fvm
is
allowing
more
and
more
people
to
create
and
capture
value,
around
data,
and
it's
unleashing
massive
potential,
we're
so
excited
to
bring
this
Open
Access
and
kind
of
permissionless
upgradeability
into
the
filecoin
ecosystem,
harnessing
all
of
the
amazing
developers
who
can
bring
new
capabilities
into
filecoin,
who
can
build
new
layer,
twos
new
applications,
new
things
like
retrieval
markets,
compute
over
data
markets,
an
upgrade
filecoin
and
all
the
capabilities
we're
using
here.
A
As
as
we've
mentioned
in
a
couple
of
previous
talks,
there
are
so
many
things
that
falcoin
and
fem
unlock
things
like
data
Dows,
on-chain
voting,
D5
for
storage
providers,
storage,
Insurance,
Smart,
Storage
markets
and
contracts
that
can
automatically
self-repair
and
self-heal
decentralized,
verifiable,
computation
and
much
much
more.
So
we're
really
excited
about
all
of
the
new
capabilities
that
a
huge
community
of
developers
can
permissionlessly
add
into
filecoin
on
a
day-by-day
basis
and
I've
already
talked
back
in
Lisbon
about
all
of
the
cool,
exciting
things
we
hoped
would
be
coming
to
filecoin.
A
So
if
you
haven't
seen
that
talk
check
out
the
QR
code-
and
you
can
watch
that
on
your
own
time,
but
today,
I
really
want
to
dive
into
what
have
people
been
building.
What
is
actually
coming
at
mainnet
launch
for
fvm
and
shortly
thereafter
as
well,
and
so
here
is
a
great
place
where
you
can
go
check
out.
The
whole
list
of
fvm
early
Builders
they've
been
working
for
the
past
four
or
five
months,
building
on
top
of
fvm
participating
in
hackathons,
adding
new,
tooling
and
components,
I
think.
A
A
So
one
of
my
favorite
examples
that
I've
been
collaborating
with
the
team
on
is
helping
use
the
fvm
to
really
unlock
the
vision
of
long-term,
verifiable
storage
and
nfc.storage
is
a
great
example
of
a
client
that
has
always
had
that.
Vision
at
heart
started
out
as
an
application
that
nft
creators
and
marketplaces
could
use
for
long-term,
verifiable
persistence
and
they
are
going
to
be
using
a
smart
contract
on
fvm
to
do
automatic
renewal
of
those
storage
deals.
A
Storing
the
you
know,
Humanity's
most
exciting
and
cherished
digital
assets,
so
that
those
stay
on
filecoin
for
the
long
term
and
can
automatically
renew
and
self-repair
over
time.
So
it's
an
amazing
first
step
towards
that
long-term
vision
of
nfp.storage
fully
becoming
automated
and
a
smart
contract
in
and
of
itself
with
no
Central.
A
You
know
intermediary
or
organization
that
you
have
to
depend
upon
in
order
to
make
sure
your
nft.
These
are
trustlessly
verifiably
stored
in
perpetuity
and
so
they're.
A
great
example
of
these
kind
of
like
permanent.
You
know
use
air
quotes
because
nothing
is
ever
a
hundred
percent,
but
that
will
automatically
self-repair
in
you
know,
hopefully
99.9
of
cases
into
the
future
that
helps
keep
everyone's
data
safe.
A
Another
great
example
of
what
people
are
building
today
are
glyph,
staking
pools
and
I.
Think
Jonathan
is
somewhere
in
the
house
or
going
to
be
here
shortly
and
we'll
be
able
to
talk
to
you
about
this
more
later
today,
but
a
huge
area
within
fvm
that
many
folks
are
excited
about
and
haven't
had
access
to.
A
Until
you
know,
just
this
moment
around
the
corner
is
the
ability
to
connect
the
storage
demand
and
this
and
the
token
availability
so
that
we
can
meet
the
collateral
requirements
that
storage
providers
have
to
keep
growing
the
amount
of
useful
data
being
onboarded
into
filecoin,
and
so
that
token
holders
have
the
option
to
put
their
tokens
to
good
use
within
the
network
in
order
to
help
accelerate
data
storage
in
filecoin,
and
so
it's
really
harnessing
the
fact
that
this
is
a
useful
proof-of-work
Network
that
can
put
these
assets
to
use
fundamentally
within
the
protocol.
A
There's
also
a
lot
of
teams
that
are
using
filecoin
and
smart
contracts
to
to
enable
new
use
cases
and
so
Saturn,
which
is
the
web
3
CDN.
That's
building
the
filecoin
retrieval
Market
is
a
great
example
for
this.
They
have
already
written
and
I.
Think
it's
deployed
on
hyperspace,
which
is
our
pre
mainnet
fvm
testnet
retrieval
reward
smart
contract
which
allows
them
to
pay
out
all
of
the
1370
retrieval
providers
that
have
joined
Saturn
just
in
the
past
three
months
and
be
able
to
pay
out.
A
Retrieval
rewards
to
all
of
those
participating
point
of
present
CDN
nodes,
and
then
they
can
do
that
trustlessly
within
the
filecoin
network,
really
taking
that
first
step
towards
being
a
full
Layer
Two,
retrieval
Market,
there's
also
just
a
whole
plethora:
I
can't
even
I,
don't
even
know
the
full
set
of
exciting
defy
staking
and
Loan
platforms
that
are
happening
cross-chain
swaps,
just
so
so
much
kind
of
like
permissionless
Innovation,
that's
happening
here.
Where
you
know
filecoin
token
holders
haven't
had
access
to.
A
All
of
that,
you
know
ability
to
to
earn
yield
on
tokens
ability
to
collaborate
really
seamlessly
across
other
ecosystems
with
cross
chain.
Bridging,
and
so
this
is
a
really
critical
area,
that
many
teams
are
jumping
in
to
make
sure
that
those
capabilities
come
as
soon
as
possible
to
the
whole
filecoin
token
holder,
ecosystem,
there's
also
other
groups
that
are
working
on
long-term
Perpetual,
storage
and
Lighthouse
is
a
great
example.
They
have
been
a
huge
component
of
the
early
Builders
Community.
Many
many
of
folks
in
the
space
warp.
A
Hackathon
have
been
building
on
top
of
Lighthouse
to
have
that
Perpetual,
long-term,
endowed
storage
so
that
your
files
can
live
on,
not
just
for
you
know
a
1.5
year
storage
deal
but
50
100.
You
know
who
knows
how
long
within
the
filecoin
network,
using
kind
of
lighthouses,
decentralized,
long-term
storage
and
so
definitely
want
to
shout
out
to
them.
I
know
they're
going
to
be
presenting
more
later
today,
as
well.
A
One
area
that
really
has
you've
never
seen
this
before
and-
and
this
is
a
new
area
that
I
just
expect
to
we're
not
going
to
realize
all
the
potential
up
front.
It's
going
to
keep
evolving
over
time
is
the
potential
of
data.
Dows
and
I
know.
A
Charles
cow
is
going
to
talk
about
LaGrange,
Style
and
what
they're
doing,
but
this
this
is
a
huge
opportunity
for
Collective
groups
to
form
around
data
curation
data
governance,
data
ownership
and
data
monetization,
so
that
they
can
curate
high
value
data
sets
they
can
permission
access
to
those
data
sets
they
can
grow.
The
value
of
those
data
sets
over
time
through
things
like
compute
networks
that
maybe
help
tune.
A
Those
data
sets
for
different
audiences
that
might
find
them
really
high
value,
and
then
they
can
reinvest
those
profits
into
the
growth
and
differentiation
of
their
data
long
term,
and
you
can
do
this
without
you
know
anyone
having
a
central
credit
card
for
an
AWS
account
pound.
You
can
do
this
with
a
group
of
friends.
You
can
do
this
without
having
any
individual
in
the
loop
at
all.
A
It
can
just
be
a
multi-sig
that
is
governing
that
that
Collective
and
that's
literally
never
been
possible
before
centralized
storage
does
not
make
that
possible
and
I
think
we're
just
scratching
the
surface
of
the
the
sorts
of
applications
that
people
are
taking
this
with
there's
a
ton
of
specialized
data
Dows
that
are
focusing
on
different
use.
A
Cases
like
you
know,
making
sure
that
individuals
can
can
can
send
their
their
data
and
down
to
their
generations
to
come
into
the
future,
or
so
that
you
can
do
trustless
data
access
where
you
never
unlock
access
or
decryption
keys
for
your
data.
Until
you
have
a
threshold
Network
that
can
descend
in
a
decentralized
way
identify
that
the
conditions
have
been
met
to
you
know,
decrypt
your
your
data
openly,
so
you
can
have
you
know
dropboxes
for
data
that
will
automatically
self-decrypt
sometime
in
the
future.
A
So,
there's
just
really
really
exciting
things
to
happen
here
on
the
intersection
of
blockchain
programmability
without
a
centralized
player
and
the
data
storage
of
filecoin
last,
but
definitely
not
least,
we're
so
excited
about
the
work
that
bringing
compute
and
fvm
together
unlocks
and
a
great
example
is
the
work
that
the
bakuyao
team
has
been
doing
around
stable
diffusion,
compute,
creating
nfts
minting
them
on
filecoin
all
from
an
fbm
smart
contract.
This
is
so
freaking
cool.
A
It's
like
you
know,
jumping
out
of
a
Sci-Fi
novel,
but
we're
actually
seeing
being
able
to
have
any
user
go
input,
their
own
prompt,
get
a
set
of
images
computed
for
them
from
the
baklao,
stable,
diffusion,
Network
and
then
mint
those
as
nfts
on
filecoin,
with
long-term
permanent
storage
like
that
is
combining
so
many
cool,
New
Primitives
together.
I
hope
you
guys
are
as
excited
as
me
for
for
what
that's
going
to
unlock
and
it's
just
the
scratching
the
surface.
A
There
are
so
many
other
really
exciting
use
cases
for
how
you
can
bring
together,
compute
and
long-term
storage
as
well.
So,
as
everyone
knows,
we
are
just
14
days
away
from
mainnet
launch
countdown
starts
here.
It's
two
weeks.
We
are
on
track.
The
final
release
of
fem
is
out,
and
our
upgrade
timeline
is
on
track,
so
I
hope
everyone
is
super.
Super
excited
huge,
huge
congrats
to
the
fvm
team,
the
Lotus
team,
the
fill
in
for
team.
Everyone
who's
been
involved
in
making
this
launch
happen.
A
It's
taken
an
entire
Village
across
many
many
different
groups,
and
so
thank
you
to
all
of
our
early
Builders.
Thank
you
to
everyone
on
the
launch.
Team,
the
outer
core
team,
the
network,
Goods
team,
who
have
been
part
of
making
this
happen.
It's
super
exciting
and
please
get
involved
in
building
on
top
of
all
of
their
hard
work.
This
is
just
the
start.
We
are
here
to
scratch
the
service
and
then
take
it
10
000
miles
forward.
So
thank
you
so
much.
