Hey everyone, so I'm here to talk about our exciting collaboration between seal storage and uc berkeley. um So um when we look at the the data right that uc berkeley has they they're working on some really exciting, you know mind-bending elements right of the universe. So when we talk about those those elements, it's really the black holes and exploding stars and the big bang.

So the researchers at ucb, professor gabriel obrigan and her group at ucb are creating this detector to be able to trap these mysterious ghost partials particles as they call it and they need a reliable place to store the data. So if you just want to move to the next slide here, I'm not sure if I should, uh if you can just do that there and you don't want to say if you just go back sorry, uh I wasn't looked at that slide. I'm sorry yeah! So uh gabrielle, you know obrigan and her team and tanner.

If uh any of you guys were, you know privileged enough to go to the phil austin uh meeting that that was held not too long ago, uh tanner was actually in attendance. So tanner went on stage with a couple of our seal members to talk about this exciting physics, neutral data storage.

So it was really exciting and they're really excited about it, and so, when you look at so, if you just want to next stage here we'll just talk about you know some of the things that uc berkeley was really excited about when it came to web3 uh storage. So immutability is one of those things, that's extremely important to ensure that the data is as original as per the you know, as per the source, so the one source of truth in a sense, so that really sort of um you know got them excited about.

uh You know: web3, storage and decentralized storage and also the the geographic decentralization of of the data, as well so being able to take that data and have multiple copies stored globally across a you know across globe here, so that was extremely important to them. Verifiability of the data. So you know source of truth ensuring that the data is not corrupted and I think one of the most important things also was affordability as well. So when we talk about you know, large petabyte data sets.

So you know this particular opportunity is, is pretty exciting in the sense that you know they started off with a small subset of data, and then we would be ingesting the the further you know data being created off of this. um You know these netrono um instruments that they're, you know gathering this information from. So affordability is one of those things. As you know, costs can can get very high and quickly right when we're talking petabyte sets of data.

So um you know that's uh one of the reasons why they also jumped on board uh but yeah. I just wanted to spend a few minutes talking about uh ucb and our exciting collaboration with him. um I think I'm I'm good here. Echelon.

Thanks so much sal yeah, that was an incredible talk at phil austin, and we really appreciate you coming today to share the great news with rsps globally great vanessa. You want to talk about, if you're, a storage writer, how you can um get your great work in in your journey as a storage provider um advertise to the rest of the storage, broader community.

Last quarter, we did four other storage providers, blog posts which are from korea, japan, north america and europe.

So the point of this blog post is to share your journey and to share with new search providers on how do you start your journey with falcoid and data storage? So please submit your stories with us and thank you for all the storage providers that have shared their stories and looking forward to sharing more. Thank you.

Thanks vanessa yeah we've had some great stories of storage providers being featured already and we're always looking for more so super excited to continue that series. The next thing we want to talk about are the storage provider working groups, so the mission of the storage writer working groups. You know this is a voluntary non-paid working group that allows file coin storage, providers of all sizes to work collaboratively with other esteem storage providers on the file coin network.

So these groups were established about a year ago, and now we have five, I think now almost six storage provider working groups around the world uh that have storage writers who come together each week or bi-weekly to talk about you know the things that matter most to them. So when the storage provider working groups were first established, there were three main goals: one was diversity and power size.

The second was diversity and geography and the third one was promoting equal access to resources, and so, with these three goals come different responsibilities and benefits for search writer working group members. The responsibilities were, you know: providing input and feedback on ecosystem initiatives, holding different leadership roles within the file coin, sp community participating in regular working groups or roundtables and again promoting equal access to helpful information for other sps, and so with those responsibilities.

Come these awesome benefits like receiving early previews and news on file coin sp updates, receiving funding to host events, develop resources or conduct gatherings participating in early programs to help test protocol implementations on the falcon network and contributing to the development of best practices around the file coin ecosystem. So there are some really great opportunities for members of these storage fighter working groups, because, ultimately, these storage fighter working groups help play a crucial role in spearheading the growth of the sp community.

Globally, and you know we pulled some of our current sps in these storage writer working groups on why they enjoy their membership. So much, and so we heard a lot about how the re the how the group helps them, find resources more easily or how they get to discuss different bugs and issue requests with other sps, and then you know how they can flag. Those to uh pl or flight coin foundation, people really liked having sneak peeks at the newest programs and platforms that are that are being developed in the ecosystem.

So, for example, when a new platform comes out, oftentimes they'll come as a guest speaker to the storage writer working groups and present people really loved the networking opportunities with other sp, so just the opportunity to interact with other sps and talk about what's going well and and what issues they might be having and ultimately, people really enjoyed the sp in person meetups that resulted directly from the search fighter working groups.

So, for example, if you were there in amsterdam in april, at this great storage, router meetup, that was directly because of the swordfighter working group, somebody had an idea and they said you know, let's make it happen and we were able to make it happen or for the other sp meetup in austin as a part of phil, austin or rsps have even you know, taken the initiative on themselves. So there was an sp meet up in in filter at phil toronto as well uh with charles cal.

So why am I bringing this up well last year, when the storage provider working groups were first formed, we said you know, let's do this for a year and then look at membership again in one year.

So right now on this page, you can see the list of every single member within each storage writer working group across our six regions, and we essentially want you all to reach out if you're interested in joining a regional storage writer working group reach out to these individuals in this table and try to attend one of the source writer working groups that are coming up in the next couple of weeks and see if it's something that you would like, because in august we'll be accepting nominations for uh this upcoming year.

So we're looking for new membership in august in the meantime, try to contact one of these members so that you can attend a current search fighter. Working group.
