Project tables are a customizable spreadsheet that integrates with your issues on GitHub. You can customize the layout by filtering, sorting, and grouping your issues. Tailor your project tables by adding custom fields to track metadata and creating saved views. Projects are flexible so that your team can work in the way that is best for them.

Ruby is the 10th* most popular language within the open source community. To help more open source maintainers and organizations find potential vulnerabilities in their code, we’ve added Ruby support (beta) to the CodeQL engine that powers GitHub code scanning.

GitHub is where developers come to learn and celebrate what’s new in open source, and where maintainers share, collaborate and celebrate their community’s work. One of the most important parts of the software development life cycle is delivering your software to those who use it. Today, we are sharing some recent improvements we’ve made to GitHub Releases in a new public beta to make it easier to create and communicate compelling, high-quality releases while encouraging collaboration and engagement from the community.

GitHub Advanced Security customers can now specify custom patterns for secret scanning. When a new pattern is specified, secret scanning searches a repository's entire git history for it, as well as any new commits. They can be defined at the repository and organization level.
User defined patterns are in beta on cloud and will be available on GHES shortly.

Developed in collaboration with OpenAI, GitHub Copilot is powered by OpenAI Codex, a new AI system created by OpenAI. OpenAI Codex has broad knowledge of how people use code and is significantly more capable than GPT-3 in code generation, in part, because it was trained on a data set that includes a much larger concentration of public source code. GitHub Copilot works with a broad set of frameworks and languages, but this technical preview works especially well for Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby and Go.

The big news is that Dependabot on GitHub is now generally available! It's got all the Dependency updating goodness of Dependabot Preview, but with a fully integrated GitHub experience.
Millions of repos use Dependabot to keep their dependencies up to date, either by updating when a Dependabot alert lets them know about a vulnerable dependency (security updates), or on a fixed schedule (version updates). Dependabot security updates have been generally available for over a year, and it's time that version updates join them in general availability.
Read more about it here:

From software composition reports, we know that most applications rely on dozens or even hundreds of open source dependencies. Sometimes, adding a single library to your manifest file can result in bringing in a massive dependency tree. How can we make sure that we stay on top of any known vulnerabilities, and update our dependency versions as needed?
In this video, Maya Kaczorowski and Sasha Rosenbaum discuss how Dependabot works behind the scenes to help you identify and remediate known vulnerabilities, and show us a demo of the feature.
