Hi, my name is KY Armstrong and I'm the product manager for the editor group of the create stage, the dev app life's mic cycle here at yet lab I'm really excited here to talk about the 1260 release and everything we've got planned in the editor group, and so let's get started.

The first thing that we're gonna be focusing on for the editor group in the 12:6 release is really working on making some usability improvements to the web IDE and one of the big ones that we found is that the concept of staging and unstaged files in the live IDE is confusing, particularly because the web ID doesn't have a persistent file system. So if you leave that web ID a screen- and you forgot to stage some changes, all of those changes might have been lost.

Would you go to create a merge, requester navigate away from that page, and so what we're gonna be doing is we're gonna, be changing the way the commit and stage behavior works, so we're gonna automatically start staging all the changes, and so historically, when you did that you click the commit button.

It took you to another window to pick which or another frame to pick which files you would stage, and then you would stage those changes and then you'd finally be able to commit those and either create a new branch, commit to master sharda, merge request, and so what we're going to do now is we're gonna lead you directly to this state, where all the files that you want to find up in stage and then you'll be able to fill in your commit message and create a new branch or starting request.

Whatever you want to do there, and so we think that's really going to enhance and streamline the process that users go through when they're, creating files in the live IDE and then allow prevent any issues where people might have lost changes or things get lost because they didn't say she was changes. So we're really excited about this in twelve six.

We think it's going to be a great enhancement of the web ID and just kind of one of the first things that we're doing in order to improve the usability around the web IDE beginning at twelve. Six I did want to talk about some other things: we're not shipping these things in twelve six, but we are going to start to a couple other projects here and so one of those is this single file editor so currently and get lab. We have to editing experiences. We have the web ie, which we just talked about.

We've got the single file editor, that's typically used for faster edits.

You know, there's a lot of usage around the git lab, CI files, and so that's based on a different technology than our web ID, and so we're gonna start looking at how we could use the same technology for our web IDE and use that for a single file.

Editor create a really nice experience that is more cohesive across the entire get live, app and so I'll be working with the product designer in our group and doing some investigation there and see what we can do in kind of the last one I want to touch on is will be refactoring our snippets, and this is not that exciting refactor ease your not great, but what is exciting about this is.

This is the first step in order for us to go and deliver on kind of that next level of functionality and one of the things we're really excited to start working on for snippets is bringing multi file support, and so we want to get multiple files in the snippets, and as part of that, we also want to move our snippets to be version, control and so first step is: we've got to clean out a little bit of a craft in there, but we're gonna get through that and then we'll be able to start moving forward on that.

So this is just a good preview to see that we're making progress on that. So I'm really excited about everything that we're doing in the 12:6 release.
