From YouTube: GitLab 14.9 Kickoff - Enablement:Distribution
Description
Kickoff for the Distribution group for the GitLab 14.9 release.
Planning issue - https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/distribution/team-tasks/-/issues/993
A
As
always,
this
is
our
schedule
issue
with
our
product
priorities
listed
at
the
top.
The
first
issue
that
we
are
tackling
our
product
priority
is
fips.
Compliance.
Next
is
distribution
efficiency,
then
operator,
certification,
secure
solution
for
managing
omnibus
configuration
secrets
and,
finally,
rounding
out
the
list,
any
tech
debt
that
we
can
accomplish.
A
A
As
you
can
see,
we've
been
making
great
progress
in
closing
out
many
of
these
issues
in
14.9
and
a
couple
left
out
in
the
open,
specifically
within
14.9,
we're
going
to
address,
creating
pips
compliance
checks
for
components
that
we
own
in
distribution,
and
also
I
want
to
shout
out
one
that
we
completed
in
14.8-
is
our
investigation
in
fips
compliance
and
kubernetes,
and
I
expect
that
we
will
get
some
issues
from
this
investigation,
so
we'll
likely
try
and
schedule
those
for
14.9,
because
it's
our
top
product
priority.
A
A
You
know
more
efficient
processes
in
you
know
in
these
pipelines
and
allowing
us
to
roll
up
features
more
quickly
and
not
spend
so
much
time
on
these
pipelines
and
semi-related
to
pipeline
efficiency
is
supporting
gitlab
on
amazon,
linux,
2
and
so
in
14.9.
A
We
hope
to
accomplish
building
an
omnibus
package
for
amazon
links
to
and
officially
you
know,
provide
support
at
least
internally,
and
when
I
say
support,
I
mean
we're
supporting
the
architecture.
A
A
We
have
been
working
towards
this
for
a
few
weeks
now,
basically
immediately
after
we
actually
made
the
operator
general
available.
The
next
step
is
getting
it
red
hat
certified
there
are
benefits
to
being
in
the
red
hat
marketplace,
but
also
we
know
that
we
we
can
stand
behind
a
product,
that
red
hat
also
stands
behind
by
being
officially
certified,
and
so
we're
getting
very
close
here,
a
couple
of
last
ones
is
we
need.
A
We
need
to
make
sure
that
all
of
the
container
images
we
use
have
ubi
variants
to
be
listed
in
the
marketplace,
and
so
right
now
we're
on
the
last
one
here,
which
is
investigating
how
we
can
build
a
ubi
variant
for
our
ingress
and
genex
controller,
and
so
that
will
basically
unblock
these
other
issues
as
well,
which
we
hope
to
accomplish
in
14.9,
so
expecting
the
timeline
of
these
to
be
done.
Fourteen
eight,
we
hope
to
tackle
these
in
14.9
once
these
are
unblocked.
A
Moving
on
is
our
secure
solution
for
managing
omnibus
configuration
secrets.
You
might
have
seen
this
issue
before
and
we're
making
some
steady
progress
on
this
solution
as
we
move
forward
for
14.9.
We
are
specifically
going
to
be
addressing
all
rails
passwords
stored
in
our
gitlab.rb
file
and,
as
you
can
see,
there's
a
couple
different.
A
You
know
types
of
passwords
here
and
so
the
first
one
that
we're
going
to
be
tackling
is
specifically
incoming
email,
passwords
in
the
rails
code
base,
and
so
these
are
all
great
value
ads
and
really
round
out
our
product
priorities
list.
So
thank
you
very
much
for
watching
and
I
hope
you
have
a
great
rest.
Your
day.
