From YouTube: Product Analytics Demo Mar 2023
Description
Overview of the current state of Product Analytics
Direction Page: https://about.gitlab.com/direction/analytics/product-analytics/
A
Hi
I'm
James
teibach
product
manager
for
the
product
analytics
group
at
gitlab
today,
I
wanted
to
give
a
quick
overview
of
the
product
in
analytics
category
and
where
we're
at
today,
as
we
get
ready
to
onboard
our
first
external
users
to
our
output
release
so
before
getting
into
the
demo.
I
wanted
to
cover
a
little
bit
about
why
we're
building
this
at
gitlab
a
gitlab,
we're
focused
on
developers
and
the
software
delivery
value
stream.
A
Common
thing
that
we've
heard
from
the
developers
in
discussions
with
them
is
that
they
find
it
hard
to
add
instrumentation
code
to
apps
or
to
successfully
gather
the
data
that's
being
recorded
from
their
apps.
So
we
think
we
have
a
unique
opportunity
to
make
it
easier
for
developers
to
add
instrument
agent
code
and
to
gather
those
insights
about
the
users
of
their
application.
A
So
this
is
a
simple
application
that
Sam
of
the
group
manager
for
product
analytics
has
put
together
it's
created
and
it
uses
the
JavaScript
SDK
for
product
analytics
and
the
feature
flag
is
enabled
for
this
project.
So,
looking
at
the
code
here,
we
can
see
that
the
gitlab
SDK
here
and
looking
at
our
static
HTML.
We
see
that
we
have
the
script
here,
defining
our
application,
ID
and
the
host,
where
we're
Gathering
our
statistics
app.
A
A
So,
looking
at
our
dashboard,
which
is
here
under
analytics,
but
what
we
have
an
audience
and
a
behavior
dashboard
and
we
can
set
up
custom
dashboards
as
well
for
our
audience,
dashboard
is
tracking
our
users
and
session,
as
well
as
some
of
the
browser
data
for
us.
We
can
see
that
everyone
so
far
is
using
Chrome,
and
you
see
that
we
have
three
users
today.
A
total
of
seven
sessions,
quick
refresh
here
and
refresh
on
our
dashboard,
should
get
us
empty
teeth.
A
We
see
our
additional
browser
history,
our
browser
data
now
about
my
support
recession,
so
looking
at
our
other
dashboard
around
Behavior,
we're
tracking
our
events,
which
in
this
case
is
our
click
on
the
button
we
have
24
so
far
today,
quick
click
event.
There
look
at
that
over
in
my
Safari
session.
A
Sam
has
defined
here
and
all
of
the
dashboards
are
defined
as
yaml
files
and
you
can
host
them
with
the
app
itself
or
you
can
Define
it
in
another
project.
If
you
want
to
store
those
dashboards
somewhere
else,
but
all
of
them
are
in
here
add
part
of
your
git
history.
So
you
can
see
the
history
of
the
dashboard
as
it
might
be
changing
over
time
as
you're
adding
new
intermentation.
You
can
also
add
it
to
the
dashboard
so
that
immediately,
you
can
start
to
see
that
data
coming
through.
A
So
we
hope
that
you're
as
excited
about
this
new
product
area,
as
we
are,
if
you're
interested
in
applying
to
be
part
of
the
alpha
program,
you
can
fill
out
the
interest
form
while
effective
and
you
can
always
follow,
along
with
our
progress
of
new
features
and
capabilities
on
the
gitlab
and
filtered
YouTube
channel.
Thanks.
