From YouTube: GitLab Navigation update - July 26, 2022
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
Hey
so
my
name
is
kristen
debenko,
I'm
a
senior
pm
on
the
foundations
team
at
git
lab.
This
is
a
bi-weekly
update
on
navigation,
and,
since
I
was
off
for
three
weeks
sick,
this
is
bigger
than
normal.
We're
going
to
go
through
an
overview,
changes
in
themes
and
themes
and
direction,
design,
data
and
roadmap
updates
and
shipped
items.
It's
a
bit
heavy
this
week
or
this
update
in
the
future.
These
should
be
shorter
and
more
direct
and
you
should
be
getting
them
every
two
weeks.
A
So
in
the
past
few
months
we've
changed
our
approach
to
nav,
especially
around
design
and
testing,
and
in
15.2
we
switched
over
to
doing
a
north
star
vision,
design
for
navigation
and
then
right
now
we're
starting
to
test
those
designs.
So
here's
kind
of
the
output
of
all
of
the
last
release
to
two
releases
tori
led
us
through
an
exploration
of
our
sus
feedback,
and
we
arrived
at
six
themes
and
the
top
three
are
minimizing
feeling
overwhelmed
orient
users
across
the
platform
pick
up
where
you
left
off.
A
This
is
mission
critical,
because
now
we
can
use
those
three
different
themes
to
evaluate
our
design
and
go
so
in
15.
3
I'll,
be
updating
our
navigation
direction
to
support
those
three
themes
right
now:
they're
using
those
during
15
2,
15,
3,
15
4
for
testing
these
north
star
designs.
So
that
means
the
tasks
they're
using
to
test
with
users.
Come
right
from
those
three
pain
points,
and
they
can
check
in
and
say
hey,
do
you
feel
overwhelmed?
Do
you
feel
oriented?
A
We
also
created
some
okrs
that
help
support
this.
I
listed
tori's
and
mine.
So
on
the
design
side,
she's
got
some
awesome
ones.
I've
linked
here
that
that
support
getting
those
designs
to
one
that
we
can
move
forward
with
and
then
on
the
product
side.
My
my
okrs
are
around
writing
at
least
three
mvcs
by
the
end
of
this
quarter
and
getting
them
instrumented.
A
So
that's
the
high
level
themes
and
direction
part
going
through
some
design
work
that
has
happened.
This
release
austin
presented
in
the
ux
showcase
we've
linked
that
in
his
slides
there,
which
is
really
cool.
I
suggest
you
look
at
it.
We
also
did
a
really
awesome
exploration
of
the
north
star
designs
and
those
the
video
here
is
linked.
The
fourth
one
in
there
was
sid's
suggestion
for
a
design
and
his
is
moving
forward
into
testing.
A
So
that's
going
to
be
interesting
to
look
at
and
see
how
all
of
those
end
up
tracking
once
they
get
in
front
of
users,
and
we
look
at
them
from
the
task
and
the
theme
standpoint
in
terms
of
design.
We
plan
to
have
all
six
designs
so
from
the
selected
designs
up
here
in
the
showcase
and
with
austin
all
six
are
being
tested
in
fifteen
three
and
we
should
be
able
to
narrow
down
the
direction
to
one
after
the
testing.
A
A
note
to
this
ashley
is
taking
parental
leave
and
transitioning
ux
efforts
over
to
anne,
so
this
might
affect
our
ability
to
deliver,
but
right
now
it
seems
okay
and
like
we're
on
track
and
we're
still
working
on
that
research
plan.
That's
still
a
moving
target
just
to
get
the
right
tasks
and
the
right
testing
that
will
help
us
validate
them
also
wanted
to
mention.
A
A
We
did
our
first
ever
ppi
navigation,
pi
update
I've
linked
it
here.
I
just
wanted
to
mention
this
that
we
have
a
goal
of
the
next
six
to
nine
months
to
fully
instrument
navigation.
It's
only
partly
now
instrumented
at
this
time.
I
have
not
used
it
yet
for
product
decisions,
but
some
of
the
data
we
did
see
was
aligning
with
what
we
saw
from
from
users
around
the
bucketing
of
the
left
side.
A
So
for
that
right
now
the
push
is
just
get
the
instrumentation
in
and
then
we'll
get
the
decisions
later
in
terms
of
road
map
updates
and
shipped
items.
I
wanted
to
mention
moving
push
rules
under
the
settings
in
groups
that
one
we
thought
was
going
to
be
really
easy
and
like
in
a
slam
dunk,
but
when
it
ended
up
happening,
is
that
when
we
moved
that
underneath
settings,
it
actually
meant
that
at
the
group
level,
maintainers
weren't
able
to
access
that
push
roll
settings
anymore,
because
the
setting
icon
goes
away.
A
So
it
became
a
roll
issue
and
it
was
hidden
and
potentially
would
have
been
a
blocker
and
a
breaking
change
that
we
would
have
had
to
ship
in
16.0,
because
it's
breaking
kind
of
the
rules
for
everybody.
But
austin
proposed
a
really
cool
mvc.
Where
we're
just
going
to
put
some
logic
in
that.
If
you
are
a
maintainer
and
you
arrive
at
a
group,
you'll
be
able
to
see
settings
and
the
only
thing
in
the
settings
will
be
the
push
rules.
So
that
will
be
some
logic
that
will
build.
A
A
I
listed
another
nbc
in
for
fixing
avatar
backgrounds
in
dark
mode.
That
happened
this
release
and
I
just
wanted
to
mention
that,
just
from
a
delivery
standpoint,
it's
going
to
be
at
least
another
two
to
three
releases
before
we
can
chunk
out
some
mvcs
that
we
can
ship.
