From YouTube: GDK setup December'2019
Description
Quick tutorial on setting up the GitLab Development Kit (GDK) on your system.
A
All
right,
I'm
happy
to
be
what
Tiger
Watson
today
he's
one
of
the
senior
back-end
engineers
at
get
lab,
and
this
is
sort
of
an
intro
video
on
on
setting
up
a
GDK
on
on
your
local
machine
to
help
with
your
development
work
and
Tiger
is
also
one
of
the
maintainer
--zz
for
for
get
lab
development
kit.
So
we
have
a
perfect
person
to
sort
of
lead
a
session
tie
girl.
Let
me
turn
things
over
to
you.
You're
already
sharing
your
screen.
Oh.
B
Sure
sounds
good
alright.
So
what
we're
going
to
do
today
is
we're
going
to
look
through
the
instructions
for
preparing
a
computer
for
gek
install
and
installing
the
GDK
itself
and
hopefully
getting
it
running.
So
what
we
have
here
is
the
documentation
for
repairing
your
machine.
There's
lots
of
different
architectures
that
we
actually
support.
I'm
gonna
be
running
on
a
Mac,
so
I'm
going
to
run
through
the
Mac
instructions.
There's
plenty
of
other
options
here
for
different
architectures
that
you
can
have
a
look
at
the
first
thing
form
a
course.
B
You'll
need
is
Ruby
and
Ruby
is
a
set
up
here.
There
are
plenty
of
different
ruby
version.
Managers
that
you
can
use
are
currently
using.
Ibm's
I
already
have
a
VM
install,
but
it
has
an
install
above
via
brew.
If
you
don't
have
homebrew
installed
it,
it's
listed
yes
somewhere
I
think
I,
guess
hybrid
is
listed
here.
So
we
can.
You
can
do
that.
It's
a
very
simple
math
store,
I,
see
I've
you'll,
see
a
bit
more
a
bit
more
output
here,
but
I
already
have
IBM
installed.
So
it's
okay.
B
B
All
you
need
to
do
for
Mac
OS,
using
homebrew
to
set
up
the
develop
I'm
so
going
to
move
over
here
to
the
next
piece,
documentation
which
is
actually
getting
the
GDK
running,
and
so
we
have
a
gym
to
install
the
development
kit
and
cool
to
get
that
development.
Kit,
Vicki
and
I
have
it
installed,
but
we
can
paste
it
in
anyway.
B
B
B
And
this
is
going
to
download
a
whole
bunch
of
things
that
basically
will
do
it'll
be
able
do
an
intense
it
up
off
to
get
that
development
kit.
It
takes
about
15
to
20
minutes
I.
Think
so.
I
won't
wait
for
it.
I've
got
what
I've
prepared
earlier,
but
this
will
give
you
output.
That
looks
something
like
this:
here's
the
installed
command-
and
this
is
a
different
directory
of
did
earlier,
which
is
a
whole
bunch
of
installing-
will
create
your
database,
exceed
your
database
and
write
down
the
front
at
the
bottom.
B
Eventually,
it
will
tell
you
this:
it's
been
first,
it
will
give
you
a
few
commands
to
get
gb
case,
that
I've
been
running
and
all
that
sort
of
stuff,
and
it
will
give
you
a
default
admin,
username
and
password.
So
assuming
this
is
all
run
correctly
for
you.
We
can
now
go
GE
case
that,
and
this
is
telling
us
it's
telling
up
all
the
different
subcomponents
of
the
GDK.
So
we
can
see
these
are
the
various
services
that
GD
k
we
use.
You
can
start.
B
If
you
look
at
some
of
these
commands
here,
you
can
start
and
stop
these
independently.
If
you
only
run
it
if,
for
example,
you
would
only
need
we
have
some
post
quiz,
but
once
this
has
started
up
and
it
takes
a
while
to
actually
get
started,
we
can
go
to
the
default
local
host
default,
URL
or
just
localhost.
3000
you'll
see
this
error
message.
While
it's
starting
up,
it
usually
takes
a
while.
B
If
you
want
to
be
informed
of
what's
going
on,
you
can
use
the
GDK
tail
kalam,
which
is
actually
going
to
tell
the
logs
for
all
of
these
different
services.
I
can
see
everything
is
car.
Starting
up
when
we
see
travel
to
web
saying
it's
really
earth.
It
means
we
can
probably
refresh
this
and
will
actually
load
go,
and
now
we
can
go
to
use.
We
can
use
the
default
username
and
password
which,
what's
here
with
the
root
username
and
this
password.
A
B
A
A
B
Shouldn't
need
to
uninstall
anything.
We
have
a
couple
of
other
commands
there
with
the
GDK
update
command,
which
is
basically
going
to
do
a
pull
of
all
of
the
different
projects
that
make
up
the
JDK,
and
it
will
do
things
like
running
migrations
for
you
and
that's
next
thing
so
digit
judicata
update
is
all
you
should
need
to
refresh
your
install.
A
B
A
B
A
A
A
All
right
and
then
you
know,
people
have
any
issues
like
using
gbk
I
mean
I,
recommend,
like
opening
new
issues
and
in
the
gitlab
development
project,
or
search
for
issues
that
that
may
have
been
open
already,
but
I.
Think
a
lot
of
the
GK
team
members
are
they've,
been
great
about
picking
up
issues
and
commenting
on
them.
So
yep
that's
passed.
If
people
have
any
issues.
