From YouTube: GitLab 14.0 Kickoff - Create:Source Code
Description
Create:Source Code PM (Daniel Gruesso) covers the work planned for GitLab release 14.0, shipping on June 22nd, 2021.
See planning issue for more detail https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/create-stage/-/issues/12800
A
A
So
we're
going
to
be
working
on
two
big
themes
on
this
release
and
the
first
one
is
completing
the
work
to
rename
the
default
branch
for
git.
So,
as
you
know,
in
conjunction
with
the
git
community,
gitlab
is
changing
the
branch
name,
the
default
branch
name
from
master
to
main.
That
is
because
we
believe
in
the
more
inclusive
naming
for
all
of
the
gitlab
elements
and
also
we're
aligning
with
the
git
hosting
community,
as
well
as
the
git
project.
A
As
you
may
know,
the
git
project
will
be
making
maine
the
default
branch
name
this
summer.
So
we're
excited
to
see
that
change
and
aligning
to
that
change
as
well.
So
this
change
comes
in
two
parts:
gitlab.com
we'll
have
that
change
on
may
24th,
which
is
the
first
working
day
after
gitlab
release
13.12
on
saturday
may
22nd.
A
So
you
can
expect
to
see
that
change
on
monday
may
24th
and
then
break
it.
Laps.
Self-Managed
is
going
to
be
part
of
14-0,
so
when
you
upgrade
to
the
lab,
140
default
branch
name
will
be
main
and
of
course
this
will
only
affect
new
projects.
Existing
projects
that
have
any
default
branch
name
will
conserve
that
branch
name
and
as
you
change
it
manually,
and
then
this
will
only
be
in
effect
from
new
projects.
A
So
we're
excited
to
complete
that
change,
and
then
the
second
big
thing
that
we're
going
to
work
on
is
going
to
be
gitlab
sshd,
so
gitlab
sshg
is
it's
going
to
be
the
piece
of
fitlab
shell
that
will
handle
all
ssh
traffic?
That
function
is
currently
being
fulfilled
by
openssh.
