From YouTube: GitLab 14.8 Kickoff - Enablement:Distribution
Description
Kickoff for the Distribution group for the GitLab 14.5 release.
Planning issue - https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/distribution/team-tasks/-/issues/982
A
Hello:
everyone,
my
name,
is
dylan
marino
and
I'm
the
product
manager
for
distribution
here
at
yet
lab.
Today,
I'm
happy
to
kick
off
our
14.8
scheduling
issue
and
coming
from
you
coming
to
you
from
a
cold
and
snowy
north
carolina.
A
You
can
see
our
product
priorities
here
and
I
just
want
to
kick
this
off
by
saying
we
are
coming
off
of
the
new
year
and
the
holiday,
so
we
really
want
to
focus
on
these
two
issues,
most
pertinently,
so
the
official
red
hat
operator
certification,
which
we've
been
working
on
for
a
while.
A
A
A
Another
one
is
we
want
to
make
sure
that
folks,
who
have
web
service
sidekick
and
migrations
disabled,
that
the
process
for
updating
the
you
know
your
your
milestone
when
using
the
operator
is
the
same
process,
even
if
you
have
these
components
disabled.
So
this
is
an
important
one
for
folks
that
have
a
little
more
customization
to
their
specific
instance
of
gitlab.
A
So
moving
on
another
key
item
related
to
being
in
the
red
hat,
marketplace
is
being
able
to
utilize
openshift
4.9,
and
in
that,
in
the
same
regard,
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we,
you
know,
are
accurate,
accurately
and
actively
testing
against
openshift
14.9
and
another
one.
This
is
probably
the
the
largest
step
is
just
ensuring
that
all
container
images
have
ubi
variants.
So
our
container
images
at
the
get
go
maybe
did
not
have
ubi
variants
or
we
hadn't
researched
it,
but
going
through
the
operator
certification.
A
So
these
are
the
big
issues
and,
like
I
said,
full
steam
ahead
on
on
these
issues,
so
that
hopefully
we'll
be
listing
the
operator
in
the
red
hat
marketplace
very
soon
and
be
certified.
A
So
moving
on
to
distribution,
fips
compliance,
I
just
want
to
pull
up
this
kind
of
overarching
screen
to
show
that
you
know
we
have
tackled
many
of
these
issues
and
a
few
of
them
left
related
to
the
omnibus
package
are
actually
sort
of
for
nice
to
haves.
You
can
see.
We've
got
one
here
listed
in
14.8.
A
That
is
there's
one
that
we
want
to
complete
and
then
the
the
big
piece
that
also
is
going
to
be
exciting
here
is
that
we're
now
going
to
move
on
to
investigating
our
cloud
native
package
so
that
that
will
be
also
compliant
fips.
Compliance
is
important
to
a
number
of
our
prospective
clients
and
current
clients,
so
we're
very
excited
to
deliver
a
you
know:
compliance
solution
for
both
omnibus
users
and
cloud
native
gitlab.
A
Another
one
that
I
want
to
mention
that
we're
going
to
be
tackling
in
this
milestone
is
how
to
perform
a
multi-rails
node
gitlab
upgrade
with
downtime.
So
we've
documented
multi-new
upgrades
with
using
using
a
zero
downtime
procedure,
but
sometimes
that
just
isn't
you
know,
can't
be
possible.
So
we
also
want
to
document
ways
for
this
to
be
done
with
downtime.
A
We
also
are
working
towards
updating
our
builders
to
use
go
1.17.
This
is
a
pretty
large
upgrade
for
us
and
we're
excited
to
utilize
the
benefits
of
go
1.17
and
finally,
another
one
is
just
sort
of
quality
of
life
updates
for
our
aws
marketplace.
Listing
this.
You
know
we
realized,
maybe
our
documentation
could
be
improved
and
make
sure
that
users
are
having
a
first-class
experience
when
consuming
our
documentation,
and
you
know
any
of
our
resources
through
the
aws
marketplace.
So
you
know
this
is
a
great
quality
of
life
improvement.
A
These
are
our
issues
that
we're
hoping
to
tackle
in
14.8.
Thank
you
very
much
for
sticking
around
and
happy
new
year.
