Description
Gitaly Kickoff for GitLab 15.3 release.
Kickoff Issue - https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitaly-planning/release-planning/-/issues/1
A
Hello,
everyone
and
welcome
to
the
15.3
giddily
release
planning
for
git
lab.
This
is
a
quick
overview
of
some
of
the
features
we're
looking
to
implement
in
15
3
and
some
of
the
bugs
we're
hoping
to
fix.
A
This
is
all
done
via
our
planning
issue
here.
This
has
been
restructured
this
month
for
a
whole
new
planning
experience.
So
hopefully
this,
coupled
with
some
of
the
other
planning
initiatives
ongoing
within
gitlab,
we
are
doing
a
better
job
of
fully
planning
across
all
stages,
engineering,
product
and
quality.
A
There
are
no
capacity
notes
or
limitations
for
this
release.
Specifically,
we
do
have
a
series
of
objectives
and
themes
here.
These
are
primarily
called
out
in
our
direction
page,
which
you
can
view
publicly
here.
This
shows
us
some
of
the
initiatives
we
have
running.
All
of
these.
We
are
planning
on
continuing
throughout
to
work
on
throughout
this
next
release
cycle,
but
I
do
want
to
call
it
a
few
specific
things
in
the
release
notes.
A
One
of
the
big
things
we're
looking
to
fix
are
cases
which
cause
giddily
to
create
additional
replication
jobs
because
replication
jobs
are
so
inexpensive
and
they
can
cause
issues
when
too
many
are
created,
we're
working
through
reducing
the
number
of
replication
jobs
that
are
not
needed
during
normal
operation.
A
A
Our
goal
is
to
improve
the
documentation
to
the
point
where
it
reduces
the
load
on
support
and
increases
people's
understanding
of
how
goodly
and
gilly
cluster
work.
We
do
have
a
specific
update
slated
here
that
we
will
probably
make
additional
updates
throughout
the
course
of
the
release
as
well.
This
update
in
specific
italy
is
geared
toward
our
incremental
backup
solution
and
explaining
how
directories
work
within
that,
so
people
can
better
understand
and
utilize
our
incremental
backups.
A
The
final
theme
here
is,
throughout
the
course
of
the
previous
release.
We've
noticed
an
increase
in
requests
for
customers
who
are
really
looking
to
improve
their
understanding
of
software
development
within
a
git
type
subsystem,
seeing
as
we
do
have
a
lot
of
get
based
knowledge
within
the
gitly
team.
A
This
planning
issue
also
has
been
updated
to
include
planning
inputs.
There
are
a
series
of
engineering
priorities
here
which
are
scheduled
for
15-0.
These
are
issues
or
bugs
that
either
are
near,
missed,
slo
or
missed
slo
or
infra
dev
issues.
We
also
have
a
series
of
higher
priority
bugs
are
approaching
slo.
A
It's
also
in
our
report
for
internal
use.
There's
bug,
privatization,
science,
dashboards,
and
we
have
a
filtered
list
specifically
of
things
we
are
planning
on
tackling
in
fifteen
three.
These
are
all
bugs
that
we
believe
need
to
be
addressed
immediately
and
are
hoping
to
release
them
at
the
end
of
the
month.
A
If
there
are
any
questions,
please
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
myself
mark
wood,
or
anybody
on
the
team
feel
free
to
also
look
through
our
direction
page
and
suggest,
updates
or
ask
questions.
Feedback
is
always
important
and
we
want
everybody
to
feel
free
to
contribute.
Thank
you
and
have
a
great
day.
