Description
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/ci-cd/continuous-integration/-/issues/66
Jackie: Welcome to Verify Continuous Integration 14.0 Kick Off! This group is responsible for GitLab CI, such as pipelines, pipeline processing, and variables. As well the category of Merge Trains. I am joined by the CI Product Designer Veethika, and in 14.0 we are working on some meaty problems and breaking changes for a major release, which include enabling CI_JOB_TOKEN for secure bot workflows as well as removing some previously announced deprecations. Veethika will also walk us through some exciting progress. We will start around a UX scorecard for Variables and future facing priorities in CI.
A
Welcome
to
the
verify
continuous
integration
14.0
kickoff,
my
name
is
jackie
porter,
the
interim
product
manager
for
ci
group
here
at
git
lab.
As
a
reminder,
this
group
is
responsible
responsible
for
gitlab
ci,
such
as
pipelines,
pipeline
processing
and
variables,
as
well
as
the
category
of
merge
rains,
I'm
joined
by
the
ci
product
designer
vitica
and
in
14.0
we're
working
on
some
meaty
problems
and
breaking
changes
for
the
major
release
which
include
enabling
the
ci
job
token
for
secure
butt
flows,
as
well
as
removing
some
previously
announced.
A
Deprecations
fisika
will
also
work
through
some
exciting
progress,
we're
making
in
variables
we'll
start
around
a
ux
scorecard
as
well
as
future
facing
priorities
in
ci
to
start
we're
going
to
start
investing
in
a
ci
job
token,
to
support
bot
auto
remediation
without
worrying
about
compromising
projects.
This
is
a
super
enhancement
that
will
empower
some
flexible
and
secure
use
of
get
lab.
Ci
enterprises
fishica
will
also
continue.
This
theme
in
understanding
the
needs
around
secure
workflows
and
our
ux
scorecard
of
variables
basica.
Take
it
away.
B
Sure
so
in
ci
we're
kickstarting
a
ux
scorecard,
like
jackie,
just
mentioned,
to
find
opportunities
to
improve
the
experience
related
to
variable
handling
in
gitlab
ci.
So
over
past
few
years.
What
has
happened
is
we
have
enhanced
the
features
associated
with
variables
considerably
and
with
this
research
activity
we'll
actually
be
evaluating
the
same
feature
set
in
this
product
area
and
what
we
are
also
hoping
this
will
help
us
do
is
validate
a
few
bugs
related
variables
back
to
you,
jackie.
A
I'm
really
excited
about
this
effort.
Thank
you
so
much
for
that
overview.
This
will
unlock
an
immense
amount
of
flexibility
for
our
users.
Since
14.0
is
a
major
release.
We
also
have
a
few
breaking
changes
and
remove
removals
that
we'll
be
releasing.
These
include
an
external
pipeline
validation,
breaking
change
which
will
change
how
the
pipeline
response
code
shows
for
self-managed
instances,
we'll
also
be
making
some
updates
to
the
job
atpi,
which
will
include
a
removal
of
the
trace
parameter
and,
lastly,
we'll
be
removing
some
ci
workers
as
a
result
of
a
refactor.
