Description
Rust is now available in the gdk and within GitLab's CI base images.
A
Hey
folks
and
welcome
to
another
update
of
real-time
editing
official
description
this
week,
I
can
kind
of
like
announce
a
success
in
terms
of
like
shipping
rust
to
gitlab.
First
of
all,
rust
is
now
available
within
the
GDK.
Therefore,
everybody
who
installs
the
Ruby
White
Ruby
champ,
and
when
it's
not
downloading
the
pre-built
binaries,
we'll
actually
be
able
to
compile
it
and
the
install
succeeds.
So
this
allows
us
to
work
at
least
with
rust
in
the
development
environment,
even
more
important
here
right
tap.
A
This
is
the
right
tab,
gitlab
build
images,
so
those
are
the
images
that
are
required
to
build
gitlab
in
our
CI,
and
those
images
also
got
rust,
included
and
are
now
merged
and
best
news.
It
actually
works
with
the
champ
that
I
created,
except
we
do
have
Downstream
trigger
Downstream
chops
that
are
triggered
by
it.
So
Cloud
native
images
and
I
think
the
the
redhead
operator
ones
and
then
there's
Community
Builders
as
well.
A
Coordinating
coordinating
that
work
in
this
issue
with
the
distribution
team,
so
they've
been
super
helpful
and
kind
of
like
helped
me
to
create,
like
this
task
list
of
things
that
we
need
to
do
in
order
to
make
this
work,
but
there's
one
caveat:
we
can't
have
like
General
availability
for
the
gem
outside
of
the
SAS
product,
because
there
are
Community
Builders
that
also
need
to
adopt
those
changes.
The
way
that
we
can
get
it
into
SAS,
but
not
break
Community
versions.
A
They
can
easily
exclude
that
group
at
install
time
for
the
next
minor
releases,
but
with
16
the
next
major
release
end
of
May.
We
are
going
to
make
rust
the
default
requirement
and
then
it's
kind
of
like
easy
to
just
enforce
it
everywhere.
So
these
are
the
next
steps
in
order
to
get
like
full
support
of
rust
within
our
ecosystem
and
I.
Think
it's
looking
good.
A
We
also
have
a
way
forward
to
demo
the
the
actual
functionality
of
the
collaborative
collaborative
data
structures
and
types,
and
in
particular,
because
this
gem
is
going
to
work
on
the
on
the
SAS
product
soonish.
We
can
actually
ship
the
Mrs
that
depend
on
it.
So
somewhat
good
news,
still
a
lot
of
work
ahead
and
see
you
next
time.
