Cloud Seed is an open-source program lead by GitLab Incubation Engineering in collaboration with Google Cloud.

Deploying web application (and related workloads) from GitLab to major cloud providers should be trivial.

Cloud Seed makes it ridiculously simple and intuitive to consume Google Cloud services within GitLab.

All right, this is the june 22nd update for cloud seed cloud seed is an open source collab between gcp and gitlab that bolsters crowded option and app modernization.

Gitlab is the one devops platform which means teams use it for their entire devops lifecycle and devops is not complete without cloud interoperability and cloud integrations.

That's why we've seen ridiculously simple authentication and configuration we've seen the enablement of automation or automated deployments, including preview environments, and now the focus is on making database provisioning a reality within glabseed without regard. We have five merge requests. Open. 88758 is the original proof of concept. This will never get merged.

Based on that eight nine, nine four one was extracted out, um which also might uh might get merged in a different shape or form 9 0 0 34 is the sidekick worker that looks at the async operation of provisioning a database instance and then once the instance is ready, it performs certain actions.

This is uh this is enabled by 90363 that introduces a base service and performs some refactorings. This has been merged yesterday and 90261 introduces front-end components which is under review and should get merged pretty soon. As well, apart from that, we use no plow for event-based tracking, which which enables the possibility of funnel visualizations here's an example. This is not the final state of the dashboard, but what's interesting here is that specific events and triggers are being captured.

For example, if you look at this table out here, this is the funnel for service account creation workflow. We see that 34 people started this workflow and 23 of them converted successfully such funnel based uh visualizations of all cloud seed. Related workflows should be possible.

Apart from that, we are actively collaborating with our colleagues at google cloud. We are working with them on reviewing the. Why google cloud text on the marketing page, we have a session on the 7th of july with the cloud sql product team really excited about that. We'll share what we've built so far and try to get their feedback and garner their support.

There's a follow-up on the google app verification process they asked for they by they I mean the google uh verification team asked for videos or video based demos and wanted some infra based checklist items to be covered as well. All of this has been shared with them and internally we have a change of personnel on the get lab alliance, marketing manager for google cloud there'll be a new person joining late july early august, and uh this is kind of bad news because we lose momentum, uh but you know it is what it is.

um Hopefully I look forward to working with this new person joining in august. I guess august will be the month of onboarding, so I'll work with them through september and cloud next is early october. So hopefully we get enough done in time. Otherwise, we'll see how it goes.
