Hi folks, this is the mobile devout showcase for April 2023.. In this month's update. We'll cover various topics, including an update on some recently released, features some documentation, updates and blog posts and we'll wrap up with a preview of a new feature in the works over the last two Milestones we've released Integrations for the Apple App Store in Google Play. Both of these Integrations work. Similarly, by allowing you to configure a project with the platform, credentials verify those credentials and then have them added to CI jobs, so they can be used to automate releases.

Both Integrations are compatible with Fastlane, so no special configuration is needed when creating the jobs.

Both Integrations are seeing a nice increase in usage month over month and Community engagement in the form of feedback, feature requests and even a community contribution, as the mobile devops building blocks continue to mature. We want to make it even easier for folks to get started with gitlab mobile devops, so we're working on some documentation updates and a couple of blog posts, starting with the mobile devops page in the docs.

We've expanded the build environments, code, signing and distribution sections with more details, code, samples and links to some video walkthroughs, we've also added a section with links to the sample reference projects and a Blog section to make it easier to find Mobile related blog content.

This update is currently being reviewed and I expect that it will be merged soon. On the topic of blog posts, we also have two posts in review that provide walkthroughs showing how to create full CI, CD pipelines for Android and iOS we're expecting these blog posts to be published early next month. The last thing I'll cover today is a preview of some new capabilities that are in the works that I think will make it a lot easier to enable mobile devops for teams on gitlab.

First in background, the pipeline authoring team has been working on an exciting new feature, called CI CD components. This is the next Generation CI templates, and it's really well designed this new architecture allows us to create isolated, single purpose, CI scripts that expose a structured interface. These components can also be tested and versioned I'll link to the architecture blueprint and the roadmap for folks who want to read more.

This is exciting for mobile devops, because it allows us to wrap up a lot of the complexity related to integrating with Fastlane and lets us provide a simple interface for folks to set up their Pipelines in this proof of concept. Project I've leveraged a couple of components: I've created in this example I've enabled the Apple App Store integration and uploaded My Signing certificates to secure files with all that in place. All we need in the CI configuration is to include the components and provide a few configuration values with just this gitlab ciml file.

I now have a pipeline that can build, sign and release an IOS app to testplate you'll notice. In this project there is no Fastlane folder and no rubygem file, we're still using those Technologies in the components, but we can simplify things into a single interface and eliminate the additional configuration complexity over in the component project. We have detailed interface descriptions in the readme and you can see what each component is doing in the template. Yaml file.

These components are currently just a proof of concept, but I'll continue to iterate on them over the next few weeks and will hopefully have a public release soon.
