From YouTube: GitLab 101: How to Create an Issue
Description
Jacie Bandur, on our Learning & Development team, walks you through how to create/open a new GitLab Issue. This is part of our GitLab 101 Certification.
A
You,
okay,
we
are
going
to
go
over
how
to
open
a
new
issue
so
for
this
instance,
I
want
to
open
an
issue
in
the
gitlab
tool,
training
project,
so
I'm
already
in
this
project,
and
then
you
go
over
to
issues
here.
On
the
left
hand
side
you
can
click
on
it.
This
is
a
new
project,
so
there
aren't
any
issues
created
here
yet
so
we'll
just
click.
This
green
new
issue
button.
A
If
there
were
already
issues
in
this
project,
they'd
be
kind
of
in
a
like
list
format
here
and
then
the
green
new
issue
button
would
be
over
here
in
the
top
right.
But
since
this
is
the
first
issue,
this
is
what
it
looks
like,
and
this
gives
you
kind
of
a
little
background
on
what
issues
are
used
for.
So
this
is
helpful
to
know
what
you
can
create
an
issue
for,
but
we're
going
to
go
ahead
and
click.
A
This
is
an
issue
and
then
in
the
description
were,
this
is
where
you
can
put
any
sort
of
content.
So
I'm,
just
gonna
put
like
different
types
of
things
you
can
put
in
here,
so
you
can
put
content
here.
You
can
see.
You
can
also
attach
a
file
if
you
want
to
attach
or
like
insert
a
photo
or
something
like
that.
You
can.
Let's
see
you
can
add,
links
to
relevant
pages
like
let's
see
so
you
can
click.
This
add
link
button
and
then
this
is
what
we'll
link
is.
A
Learning
and
Development
and
then
we'll
put
the
link
to
the
Learning
and
Development
page
here
where
it
says
URL
in
between
the
parentheses
and
that
will
link
it.
So
you
can
add
links
to
roll
the
pages.
You
can
add
tasks
lists.
So
if
you
see
over
here,
you
can
make
text
bold
italic,
you
can
insert
a
quote.
You
can
insert
code
as
well.
A
So
you
see
these
are
different.
The
first
two
are
correct
and
the
last
one
is
incorrect
format.
So
a
cool
piece
of
the
issue
is
you
can
preview
what
it
will
look
like
before
you
submit
it.
So
if
you
click
this
preview
button,
you
can
see
this
link,
so
the
URL
is
attached
to
this
and
then
in
this
task
lists
that
we
made
item.
One
has
a
checks.
Checkbox
item
two
has
a
check
box
and
then
this
one
wasn't
formatted
correctly.
So
it
just
went
on
to
the
item
two
line.
A
So
if
you
go
back
to
right,
you
can
see
that
there
needs
to
be
an
asterisk
and
a
space
to
make
that
formatted
correctly.
And
then,
if
you
go
to
preview
again,
you
can
see
that
it's
now
formatted
correctly.
So
if
you
go
back
to
right,
this
is
also
a
really
helpful
piece
that
this
markdown
guide
is
linked
right
here
in
case
you're,
not
sure
how
to
format
something
you
can
click
on
that
and
it
will
pull
up
this
page.
That
is
the
markdown
guide,
which
is
really
helpful.
So
if
you
need
help
with.
A
Format,
something
so
see
you
can
make
an
issue
confidential,
although
just
know
that
if
you
do
make
an
issue
confidential,
that
it
will
be
confidential
inside
gitlab
unless
so
like.
If
I
were
to
make
this
confidential,
anyone
at
gate
lab
could
still
find
it.
It's
just
people
outside
of
gate
lab
wouldn't
be
able
to
see
it.
A
So
I
will
submit
this
issue
and
you
can
see
what
it
looks
like
once
it
is
submitted.
So
it
looks
like
it
did
when
it
was
in
preview
mode
and
I
misspelled
this,
which
is
actually
good,
because
I
can
show
you
how
you
can
edit
it.
So
you
just
click
this
little
pencil
in
the
corner
and
you
can
go
in
and
edit
that
to
make
it
correct,
Save,
Changes
and
you'll
see
it's
updated
and
you
could
also
edit
this.
A
If
you
find
out,
you
have
more
items
to
add
to
your
task
list,
you
can
do
that
and
you
can
see
that
it's
in
the
history
here
that
I
changed
the
title.
You
can
also
write
comments.
You
can
go
ahead
and
assign
it
to
more
people.
If
you
would
like
over
here
on
the
side,
you
can
add
in
a
due
date.
If
you
didn't,
you
can
change
the
confidentiality
of
it,
and
you
can
also
write
comments
here
and
in
the
comments
you
can
tag
other
team
members.
A
So
if
I
want
to
tag
Carol
so
that
her
attention
is
here
as
well
or
if
I'm
like
hey
Carol,
can
you
review
this
and
let
me
know
what
you
think
different
things
like
that.
So
that's
what
issue
looks
like
and
then,
as
you're
going
through,
you
can
check
off
different
items
from
your
task
list
that
you
have
on
here
and
you
can
see
here
it
will
show
when
things
like
that
are
completed
and
if
you
complete
all
the
tests
on
the
list
and
everything
in
the
issue
is
done.
