think
someone
was
like
I.
Don't
need
to
have
the
perfect
morning
routine,
where
I
wake
up
at
5
a.m.
in
the
morning.
So
maybe
you
kind
of
gave
me
pause,
but
with
that
said
made
me
realize
I,
don't
necessarily
have
to
have
a
perfect.
You
know
type
a
routine
either,
but
what
is
your
morning
routine?
How
do
you
wake
up
in
the
mornings
yeah.

I
did
see
that
article
and
I
will
link
it
in
the
YouTube
description
below,
and
it's
actually
a
breath
of
fresh
air.
Where
kind
of
questions
the
the
notion
that
you
have
to
get
up
at
3:00
or
4:00
or
5:00
in
the
morning
and
do
things
before
the
world
wakes
up
in
order
to
have
a
productive
day,
see
the
thing
about
those
stories
that
they
fail
to
mention
is
to
do
that
on
a
sustained
basis.
You
probably
need
to
go
to
bed
at
like
7:00
or
8:00
p.m.

also
isn't
right
to
go
for
many
people.
It's
not
like
you
can
sleep.
You
know
stay
up
until
midnight
and
then
get
up
at
3
on
a
sustained
basis
like
unless
you're
bending
the
rules
of
science.
This
isn't
gonna
work.
Long-Term
I
found
that
interesting
because
my
days
they
they
they
change
a
lot.
The
beauty
of
working
at
get
lab
and
a
synchronous
environment
is
my
days,
can
look
different
depending
on
the
week
the
day
the
year.
So
what
what
is
true
one
day
is
not
necessarily
true
any
other
day
and
I.

And
then
there
are
some
days
like
today
is
a
great
example
where
I
know
I
have
a
meeting
later
on
in
the
day,
because
it's
originated
in
the
Pacific
time
zone,
so
I'm
three
hours
behind
them,
and
so
knowing
that
I
was
going
to
be
on
a
bit
later.
I
structured
fewer
meetings
in
the
morning,
so
I
was
able
to
get
up
a
little
bit
later.
I
was
able
to
have
coffee.
I
was
able
to
do
a
full
workout
and
shower
prep
for
my
day
and
then
sort
of
back
load
the
day.

So
that's
not
every
day,
but
today
and
I
think
that
the
ultimate
beauty
of
remote
is
it
gives
you
the
freedom
and
flexibility
to
modify
the
days,
because
there's
there
is
here's,
the
thing
I
like
routine
but
routine
can
also
be
restrictive
to
real
life
happening.
So,
if
you're,
if
your
work
routine
continually,
gets
in
the
way
of
being
able
to
live
and
enjoy
your
environment
and
enjoy
your
friends
and
family
over
time,
that's
really
debilitating
and
it
really
wears
on
you.
So
that's
a
long-winded
way
of
answering
that
today,
I
have
a
slow
start.

can
be

had
a
friend
of
mine
that
came
to
me.

was
like

really
trying
hard

effective

morning
routine,
but
I'm
really
struggling
and

more

it.

of
like

you
were

It's
just
the
more
you
try
to
control
it
right.

can't
maintain
the
routine
that
you
set
up
to
be
healthy,
so
it
has
this
odd

paradoxical

me,
I
really

get
a
cardio
workout
in
at
least
five
to
six
times
a
week.

weeks
where
it's
just
completely
impractical,
but
ideally
I
try
to
stick
with
it,
but
when
I
do
those

day
varies
dramatically,
sometimes
on
days
where
I
want
to
front-load
the
day.

of
bed

they've

days

that

days,
it'll

closer
to
mid-morning
and
then
I
know
that
I'll
just
work
longer
and
then.

the
morning
is
just
too
packed
or
I
have
like
errands,
that
I
need
to
run
where
businesses
are
only
open
at
a
certain
time.
I'll
try
to
do
it
later
on
in
the
evening.
The
biggest
thing
there
is
to
do
is
to
lay
out
a
routine
that
works
for
you.
That
makes
you
healthier
yeah,
but
but
give
yourself
grace
to
modify
it
and
I
think
people
that
have
been
in
routines
of
productive
routines
for
any
length
of
time.

develop

productive
retreat
or
provide
the
routine
that
works
for
you
if
that's
Fitness,
if
that's
meal
prepping,
if
that's
making
sure
you
sleep
enough,
that's
carving
out
time
for

nap

time
with
family,
something
like
that,
it's
best
you
and
I
will
say.
I
do
understand
that
not
everyone
has
the
luxury
of
being
able
to
modify
their
day
there
are.
There
are
some
people
that,
even
if
it's
taking
your
kids
to
school,
which
is
a
beautiful
thing
to
do
you
gotta.

very
easy
to
do
that
and
you
kind
of
gotta
stand
up
for
yourself
to
whatever
degree
you
can,
and
it
may
mean
that
if
you
want
to
work
out
every
day,
but
yeah
pull
yourself
up
out
of
bed
early,
try
to
do
it
later,
like
try
to
find
friends
that
want
to
do
it
later,
try
to
find
a
way
to
do
it
in
the
middle
of
the
day.
Potentially,
just
don't
give
up.
You
know,
and
also
this
is
if,
if
this
is
really
wrecking,
who
you
want
to
be
I'd
say.

of
thing
that
really
bugs
you
you're
like
me
and
the
commute
I
can't

don't
feel
like
I

get
up
early
enough
to
make
this
happen.

just
sacrificing
too
much
of

That's

common

hear
and
get
lab,
and
people
want
to
be
in
an
environment
where
they
have
more
control
over

day,

my
goal
is
to
prove

to
make
the

remote
model
proliferate
further.

I
hope

we
soon

norm,
not

exception,

interesting

You
bring
up
because
I'm
pretty

pretty
adamant
about
trying
to
get
the
five
to
six
workouts
in
and
what
I've
actually
seen
us
do
is
on
a
night
where
I
didn't
get
optimal
sleep
yeah,
what
kind
of
begrudgingly
force
myself
to
trying
to
get
up
and
do
the
workout
and
about
midway
through
it
I'm
reminded
that
I
should
probably
optimize
for
sleep
yeah.
So
that's
been
a
big
thing
for
me.

Lately
is
here's
a
productive
habit
optimized
for
sleep,
because
if
you
don't
optimize
for
sleep
so
much
else
in
your
life,
it's
one
of
those
things.
It's
like
you
might
get
the
workout
in,
but
the
sacrifice
of
sleep
over
time
probably
isn't
worth
it
and
I
realized
that
what
I'm
saying
may
impact
people
differently
at
different
stages
of
age.
I
totally
get
that
yeah.
But
for
me,
optimizing
for
sleep
has
been
a
big
one
and
another
thing
that
I've
really
learned
to
appreciate
and
actually
wish.

was
added
in
as
a
feature
in
Google
Calendar,
but
what
I
try
to
do
is
I.
Try
to
knock
back-to-back
meetings.
I've
learned
that
this
is
like
a
serious
soul
crusher
for
me,
my
my
ability
to
be
impactful
in
a
synchronous
meeting
is
dramatically
lessened
if
I
just
came
out
of
one
or
I
have
the
weight
of
knowing
that
I
have
another
one
immediately

sometimes
work
inspiring

environments

too

hot

taken
away
from
my
focus

kind
of
a
cool

weathered
environment,
but
other

are
some
of
my

thing

appreciative

is

many
years.

a
journalist.
I
was
on
the
road
covering
live
events,

so
I
would

writing
breaking
news
stories
in

back

cab

way

the
airport.
I
would
be
in
strange
hotel
rooms
at
weird
hours
of
the
night.
I
would
be
in
the
corner
of
a
conference
center
like
camp
on
a
chair
or
a
table.
So
this
enabled
me
to
focus
on
what
a
task
was.

one

beautiful
things

working
remotely
is
it
allows
you
to
customize

workspace
with
subtle
nuances
that

you

not
matter

approach
even
to
the
workspace
where
it's
like.
Try
different
things.
Try
different
layouts,
try
different
monitor
arrangements,

current
settings,

different
lighting,

you've
worked

a
co-located
space
where
your
office
has
been
built
for
you
for
your
entire
career,
you
don't
even
know
what
what
you
would
prefer.
So,
if
you're
in
a
situation
where
you
can
work
remotely
now,
I
would
encourage
you
to
try
different
things.
Read
up
on
what
other
people
like
experiment
with
it.
You
may
find
things
that
you
like
that
that
aren't
out
there
so
I
like
I,
like
quiet
same
as
you
I,
prefer
to
work
alone
versus
a
co-working
space.

would
also
encourage
people
that
are
new
to
working
remotely
to
try
that
out,
because
you
may
think
you
know
I
love
working
alone,
but
if
you
go
and
get
involved
in
the
local
co-working
space,
you
may
actually
build
relationships
there
that
you
didn't
know.
You
didn't
know
that
you
could
appreciate,
because
you
hadn't
done
it
yet
telling
you
don't
know
what
you
don't
know
so
I
would
encourage
people,
even
if
you
think,
you're
like
working
at
an
isolated
environment,
give
it
a
shot.

I'll
kind
of
reiterate,
I,
like
meetings
to
have
buffers
on
either
side
of
it
and
I'm.
Pretty
pretty
cognizant
of
trying
to
limit
the
amount
of
meetings
I
have
in
a
given
day,
I'm
comfortable
enough
with
myself
now
to
know
that
at
a
certain
point,
people
will
start
to
get
a
lesser
version
of
me
if
I've
just
been
in
too
many
meetings,
yeah
they
deserve
better
than
that.

So,
instead
of
just
tacking
on
the
fifth
meeting
of
the
day,
it's
more
respectful
to
try
to
schedule
it
for
a
different
day
when
these
people
can
get
my
full
energy
and
full
attention
and
I
think
that's.
That's
something
that's
harder:
that's
a
boundary,
that's
kind
of
hard
to
build
for
many
people,
because
in
the
working
world
we
oftentimes
default
to
is
if
there,
if
there's
any
way,
I
can
squeeze
one
more
thing
into
this
time.

honestly,
you
may
be
doing
everybody
a
service
by
giving
yourself
that
white
space
to
actually
breathe
and
think
no
one
is
at
their
best
when
it's
just
back-to-back-to-back

what
I
want
to
see
in
the
working
world
is
less
taboo
around
that,
and
just
honestly
like.
Let's,
this
is
a
mental
health
issue
to
be
totally

and
we
need
to
be
more
admitting
that

giving
people
more
space
and
not
looking
down
on
people
that
can't
survive
a
week
of
back-to-back
meetings.

results
out
of
building
whitespace
into
my
schedule
and
being
reasonable
about
how
many
synchronous
meetings

can
withstand
on
a
given
day
and
I
think
that
that
goes
into
productivity.
It's
really
all
the
productivity
hacks
in

world.

going
to
help
you
if
you
have
no
white
space
to
actually
get
anything
done
or
think
yeah.

feel

things

current
retreats

out
of
the

co-working
days

them

with

hold
stuff,

days,
our
off-site

a
little
bit
of
variety,
and
also
because
people

the
attendees
wanna
they
want
to
see

the
new
country

to

where
they're
at

don't
want
to
be
always
locked
up
in
a
retreat
space

all

that

then
oh
just
going
back
to
what
you
were

doing

disservice.

absolutely
agree
because
you
know
the
less
you
have
to
unwind

process

work

you're
doing
the
more
stressed
out
and
that
you're
trying
to
output

quality
of
work.

really
compromised
too.

not
a
shark

Quality
takes
a
hit
when

look
up
at
your
calendar,
and

see
that
you
only
have
30
minutes
to
get
a
project
done
before
another
wall

meetings.

can't
possibly
put
your
best
work
forward

overtime

at
scale
across
an
organization.
This
is
a
poor
way
to
run
the
company,
because
quality
gets
compromised
in
every
step
of
the
way
and
there's
a
great
quote.

is,
if
you
don't
have
time
to
do
it
right.

will
you
have
time
to
do
it
over
and
that
kind
of
rings?

going
against
the
grain,

clients

do
better

up
in
some
rat
race
of
their
own

bringing

pet
store
right

they
are
cornering

pet
store
market
even
beyond
Amazon,

what
is
their
niche?
What

unique
selling

that
a
cube,
a
very
intimate
personalized
selling
experience
online,
which
the
Amazon's
of
the
world,
which
everyone
is
trying
to
strive
for,
can't
possibly
do
because
they're
trying
to
sell
everything
they're
trying
to
trying
to
scale
a
scale
scale
ready.

actually
seen
this
in
quite
a
few
areas
of
business,
where
there's
been
models
that
have
been
built
on
premium
version
of
the
commoditized
thing
that
everybody
has
already
rallied
around
just
because
it's
now
it's
so
unusual
to
get
kind
of
the
TLC,
because
everything
is
just
like
look.
Can
we
Amazon
Prime
this?
We
do
this
in
two
days
and
it's
like
that
might
not
be
the
right
question.
There
are
some
things
in
life
that
need
a
little
more
ruminating
than
that
yeah.

it's
there's
there's
something
to
be
said
about
that
years
ago.
I
spoke
with
this
accessory
maker
called
12
south,
and
they
they
only
make
accessories
for
Mac
and
iPhone
and
they
had
a
few
acquisition
offers
and
they
they
have
an
amazing
design
team
and
they
could
absolutely
make
accessories
for
the
world
of
consumer
electronics.
But
they
said
you
know
we're
choosing
to
stay
small,
we're
choosing
to
stay
focused
on
what
our
bread-and-butter
and
what
we
came
here
to
do,
and
we
want
the
team
to
stay
small
because
we're
able
to
go
celebrate
holidays
together.

able
to
do
things
because
we're
small
and
we
sidestep
a
lot
of
the
crazy
pressures
that
would
come
from
trying
to
scale
up
and
so
there's
nothing
wrong
with
that.
I
think
we
celebrate
and
we
verify
the
notion
of
scale
and
the
notion
of
like
just
crazy,
crazy
growth
and
just
massive
numbers,
but
there's
something
to
be
said
about
the
personal
touch
and
I
think
you'll
find
that
a
lot
of
businesses
are
going
to
thrive
on
that
because
people
it's
it's
harder
and
harder
to
find.

puts

mindset
of

if

somewhere

small

time

any
more
time
than
I
have
to
working
while
I'm
there.

this
puts
me
in
a
frame
of
mind
of
okay.
How
can
I
maximize
this
lift
ride
to
the
airport?

there
anything
that

Twenty

thirty
minutes
that
I
could
chunk
away
from
work
down
the
road
and
and
cap?

capture
that
thirty
minutes
to
actually
enjoy
the
city
or
enjoy

town
but
I'm
going

this

the
answer
to
what
that
actually
means
in
a
practical
way
is
different,
depending
on
the
weekend,
depending
on
the
project.

that
frame
of
mind
is
really
useful,
universally
because
I'm
putting
myself
in

position
where
I
want
to
use
any
downtime
so
on
the
airplane,
on
the
in
the
lift
anytime,
where
I
can't
actually
actively
explore
a
new
place.
That
should
be
hyper
productive
time.
So
maybe
that's
like
put
headphones
on
put
white
noise
on
turn.
All
notifications
off
and
just
crank
through
something
like
this
is
gonna,
be
a
focus
time.

Five-Hour
flight
just
like,
even
if
it
has
Wi-Fi,
don't
connect
to
it
just
disconnect
and
crank
through
as
much
of
it
as
you
possibly
can.
It
is
actually
amazing
how
much
work
you
can
get
done
if
you
disable
notifications
and
pings
people
have
forgotten
what
life
is
like.
What
work
can
be
like
without
your
iPhone
telling
you
to
look
at
something
every
10
seconds,
but
it's
shocking,
like
you,
can
do
shocking
amount
of
work.

It
try
disconnecting
from
as
many
things
as
you
can
and
and
stack
up
as
much
offline
work
as
you
can
and
plow
through
it,
and
then
the
real
root
of
that
is
when
you
land
in
a
new
place,
you
have
more
time
to
actually
go
explore,
meet
people
enjoy
the
scenery
enjoy
restaurants,
and
that
is
kind
of
a
reinforcing
function,
because
if
you
ever
have
one
trip
like
that,
myself,
like
an
entire
evening
that
I
get
to
explore
in
this
new
place,
I
would
have
never
had.
Otherwise.

off

then
live
a
few
days
with
it

determine
if
any
of
them
were
mission-critical
to
have.
So
what
has
happened
is
the
default.
Is
these
products
shipped
with
all
notifications
turned
on
so

you

opt
out
of
them
one
by
one
but
I
say
flip
that
on
its
head
turn
all
of
them
off,
and
then
you
typically
have
to
opt
into
the
ones
that
matter
to
you.

my
phone
now
I
only
have

few

are
turned

no
news,

not
social
media.

app
producers
are
not
incentivized
to
make
you
check
it
less,
because
their
entire
model
is
predicated
on
how
much
you
engage
with
it.
So
to
some
degree
those
are
at
odds,
and
that's
why
I
would
say
you
have
to
take
it
upon
yourself
to
to
put
those
boundaries
up
and
opt
in
instead
of
the
other

kind

depends

days

hours
straight,
because
I
know
I'm
just
in
a
state
of
flow,
and

can
kind
of
feel
that
well,

I
can
chew
through

hours,

done
with

meetings

have
enough

space
