This is our first Remote Work Office Hours, following the trail blazed by Iteration Office Hours. In a time where a significant portion of the world is suddenly fixated on remote, GitLab has an even bigger opportunity to show the way in thriving as a global team.
Working well remotely takes intentionality, iteration, and giving yourself permission to work differently. This is a forum to bring forward any remote challenges or ideas for enhancing the way we work remotely. Darren and Sid have decades of combined remote experience and want remote to not be an obstacle, but something you maximize to improve your quality of life and work.

folks

working
remote

been
a
huge
improvement
for
my
quality
of
life
over
the
five
years
that
I've
been
working
in
remote
and
I
was
wondering
if
there
are
any
plans
in
the
works
that
get
lab
to
amplify
how
remote
work
can
be
a
benefit
for
those
that
are
that
have
disabilities
or
that
are
like
myself
are
neurodiverse
I'm
going
to
be
writing
a
medium
blog
post
about
this
noise,
wondering
if
there's
anything
at
a
company
level.

what
a

looks
like
because
a
synchronous
can
mean
different
things
to
different
people,
and
it's

think
it's
good
but
context
around
what
it
means
for
us
and
forget,
lab
and
kind
of
well
how
we've
seen
it
work
out
and
having.

consider

routine

that

we
grow,

people
are
exposed
to
remote
work
for
the
first
time
and

can

easy

default

meetings
over
async
communication
likely
just
because
it's
what
they're
used
to
and
then
I'm
gonna
vocalize,
the
second
piece
of
that's
cuz
I,
think
they'll
probably
go
together,
but
on
that
thread,
what
tips
do
you

adjusting
to
a
sink
over
synchronous
communication.

bring
up
documents
and
asynchronous
pieces

material,

merge
request
or
an
issue

slack
chat
or

the
calendar.

two-hour

in
a

another
company

we
wouldn't

fused
that
document,

think
in
general
have

you

more

have

companies

finding

forced
into

giving
themselves
permission
to
think
through.

form

dawned
on
me
afterwards

people
may
not
like
to
learn

watching

video

handbook

could
learn
it
