This is an interview shot with Kendrick Nguyen, CEO of Republic at their offices in New York at the back
end of 2019. We were shooting a series of pieces with blockchain thought leaders and this one left
a particularly strong impression.

Republic Note is a new profit-sharing token created by Republic to allow anyone, anywhere to gain
exposure to the private investment market with investments as low as $10.

High speed, low cost blockchains are finally making it possible to distribute small amounts to
large numbers of retail investors while offering proof of ownership via features built directly into
the protocol itself.

This is a true example of blockchain enabling financial models that weren't possible before.

I spent 6 months learning how to deepfake, getting it completely wrong, believing it was a fool's errand. However you feel about the end result the point isn't that deepfakes are cool or that this is just a throw-away idea: what and who you trust is a deeply personal decision that can be assisted by a blockchain-verified mechanism but can never fully replace your own human faculties.

Learn to recognize their fallability but also their virtue as outliers and crucial indicators of the very thing algorithms are designed to ignore: humanity.

At the end of every quarter the Harmony team shake out the cobwebs by heading into the redwood forests of California to talk strategy for the quarter to come and get away from the office for a brief moment. This is what happened in the Q3/Q4 edition.

The Harmony founder & CEO, Stephen Tse gave the keynote speech at the Shanghai Blockchain Week 2019.

Shanghai International Blockchain Week is the largest and most influential blockchain gathering in China, organised annually by the Wanxiang Blockchain Labs- a leading blockchain research institute in China and Ethereum Foundation.

This year the event has brought together over 2000 participants & teams from 50 leading blockchain projects to share their insights and experience on blockchain security, cross-chain technology, and staking.
