Prof. David MacFayden introduces the new Hyperledger Media and Entertainment Special Interest Group that is bringing together technical, academic, and industry-related expertise in order to solve long-standing problems in the creation, fair distribution, and legally appropriate attribution of media assets (film, television, e-books, audiobooks, hi-res gallery or museum images, photojournalism, games, e-sports, and so forth).

Hi, my name is david mcfadden and I'm here to introduce the newest special interest group on hyperledger dedicated to issues of media and entertainment. Since the group is so young.

What I would like to do is just over the next 60 seconds or so run through some of the issues that we're likely to focus on, so you get a chance of where you might want to jump in.

So why, while the dog deals with some strange noises from owls right above us I'll do the best job I can to zip through these possible bullet points. So, as you might imagine, primarily one of our concerns is going to be the imbalance of entertainment platforms that currently works in favor of ethereum.

So since we are on hyperledger with permissioned blockchains, it falls upon our shoulders to showcase some of the maybe lesser-known but equally promising aspects of what that architecture can offer.

A

Given once again our youth, we will, relatively speaking, we will be collaborating with a large number of the other special interest groups and projects in the areas of let's say, architecture, performance and scalability, smart contracts, integration and so on, and so forth. We're very keen as an educational initiative to foreground. Maybe what have been some overlooked areas of ux and ui design, so that people aren't reliant purely upon command line. Skill sets but we'll find easier ways to both advertise. Their finished work and use it themselves.

And, according to the same logic, in fact, that'll lead to easy adoption, both by artists and arts. Related communities we'll be researching different protocols to build standardization across different projects and parties, uh identifying related reference, architectures working with businesses, organizations that are non-profit ngos, etc, etc, and in the rather eloquent phrasing of one of the other special interest groups will certainly be sharing stories of what they call civic success, failure, opportunity and challenge we set no fixed bar according to degrees of experience or expertise.

We welcome equally old young, those who can those who cannot those who would like to whether they are professionals or amateurs, students, academics, business magnates, etc, etc.

So we want to throw the widest possible net in order to include include the greatest diversity of participants, so that is a fairly I think, efficient and logical place at which to stop.

I myself am faculty at ucla, so I can certainly be reached that way, but you'll notice, if you go to the hyperledger site, you'll, be able to reach any one of us which is more important through the list of members. So please use any one of those resources and drop us a line to let us know what you would like and what you think we ought to be building, because at the end of the day, if we don't build what you and other people want, then it serves little purpose.

So take a look, please in our suggested project and our mission statement, and let us know what works, what doesn't work, uh what leaves a positive, negative or fairly awkward impression and we'll do the very best to serve the largest number of people possible so with that before an owl decides to descend upon us.
