absolutely
thrilled

I

some
incredibly
impressive
people

and
I
just
want
to
do
a
quick
introduction
and
then
from
there
we'll
get
right
into
this
panel.

Pretty
exciting
announcements.
In
fact,
one
has
to
do
with
our
hyper
ledger,
offering
our
operations
console
offering
that
we're
going
to
come
out
with
later
on
this
year,
and
also
that
there's
been
a
number
of
different
code
contributions
that
have
been
made
by
ibm,
ibm
research
that
we
really
want
to
talk
about
in
this
panel.

think
it's
almost
on
an
equal
footing
with
the
original
hyperledger
fabric
contribution.
You
know
over
the
years
we've
actually
almost
completely
rewritten
hyperledger
fabric
0.6
that
we
we
started
with,
and
we
so
so
now
we
actually
have
you
know
the
the
bft
offering
in
the
labs.
We
have
the
token
capabilities
now
contributed
to
the
labs
we
have
and
most
recently
with
the
the
ui.
I
think
you
know
this
is
this
is
almost
as
important
as
the
initial
contribution.

not
more,
I
think
you
know
the
the
console
is
going
to
be
really
important
because
I
think
the
most
challenging
part
of
working
with
hyperledger
fabric
is
that
it
it
doesn't
come
with
sort
of
a
use.
It
has
a
user
manual.
Obviously,
but
it
doesn't
really
come
with.
You
know
something
that
makes
it
easy
to
use
and
consume
from
a
from
an
end
user
perspective,
and
now
it
does-
and
I
think
that's
really
wonderful.

Now
I
noticed
chris,
you
had
a
question
here:
can
you
distinguish
what
you
mean
between
a
contribution
and
an
offering,
and
so
what
we're
referring
to
is?
There
were
two
announcements
that
ibm
made
earlier
today
with
karim
youssef
in
his
keynote
one
was
an
offering
where
we
are
offering
a
through
the
red
hat
marketplace
the
support
for
our
open
source
contribution,
which
will
be,
which
is
the
hyper
ledger
console.

Right,
okay,
so
that's
going
to
be
the
offering
chris
and
we
are
putting
that
in
hyperledger
as
an
open
source
contribution
and
then
the
second
piece
was
a
number
of
contributions
that
were
done
by
the
research
team
and
others,
and
that
was
related
to
the
interoperability
tokens.
Arnold
did
I
miss
any
in
that
list.

Yeah,
so
I
mean
there
are
quite
a
few,
as
I
was
saying,
we
had
things
like
mere
bft.
That
was,
you
know,
contributed
a
bit
earlier,
which
is
basically
a
library
for
bft,
byzantine
fault,
tolerance,
consensus
which
we
plan
eventually
to
integrate
with
the
fabric
and
which
is
very
nice,
because
it's
actually
not
limited
to
fabric
people
should
be
able
to
use
mere
bft,
even
with
other
technologies
as
well.

Yeah,
so
let
me
talk
about
that
a
bit.
I
was
planning
to
do
that
a
little
later,
but
let
me
just
dive
into
it
all
right.
So
the
the
console
takes
much
of
the
code
from
our
ibm
blockchain
product
that
is
available
right
now,
so
it'll
be
sort
of
product
level
code
and,
and
it
really
takes
away
the
it-
reduces
the
problems
of
running
operating,
deploying
large
fabric
networks
and
and
doing
that
in
production.

So,
for
example,
you
can
use
the
console
and
then
just
through
the
intuitive,
very
intuitive
user
interface,
be
able
to
look
at
channel
characteristics,
join
peers
to
channel
with
the
appropriate
permissions,
either
operators
or
writers.
Or
what
have
you
you
can
manage
identities?
You
can
add
member
organizations
report
export
them.
You
can
manage
your
certificate
authority
users,
enroll
and
and
and
revoke
that
you
can
even
manage
on
the
orders
even
configure
who's
on
the
consortium
channel.
So
it
provides
a
lot
of
deep
capabilities
into
sort
of
handling.

It's
so
that
the
console
provides
this
capability
of
managing
your
fabric
network,
as
I
explained,
and
people
can
find
more
details
about
it
in
our
lab,
along
with
that,
as
kelly
mentioned
and
karim
mentioned,
we'll
be
making
this
available
through
our
redhead
marketplace.
Right
so
we'll
have
the
fabric
long-term
support,
lts,
release,
certified
and
security,
scanned
images
and
any
patches
to
that
also
available,
and
an
operator
that
automates
both
the
one
and
day
two
operations
and
the
flying
fabric
on
on
containers
like
openshift
right.

So
it
covers
that
whole
picture
from
the
day-to-day
operations
and
and
the
ip
sort
of
deployment
and
management
things
plus
a
support
offering.
So
even
people
running
open
source
fabric
and
production
stacks
that
they
require
they
can
get
24
7
support
right
with
experts
to
make
sure
that
nothing
goes
wrong
in
the
production
staff.

do
just
a
little
bit
of
a
twist
and
go
over
to
ellie
in
research.
Ellie.
From
your
perspective,
you
know
from
a
research
point
of
view.
You
know
you
really
look
at
what
are
the
emerging
business
needs
in
the
blockchain
space
because
it
really
then
drives.
You
know
the
work
that
the
research
team
spends
their
time
on
to
really
come
up
with
new
innovations
in
this
particular
area.

Sure
so
my
lot
of
the
value
proposition
of
blockchain
as
the
new
generation
business
network
comes
from
its
decentralization
plans,
distribution
of
trust
and
transaction
validation
and
over
transparency
and
more
robust
security
that
comes
along.
But
it
is
this.
The
same
kind
of
features
that
raise
for
certain
use
cases,
interesting
privacy,
challenges
challenges,
because
we
want
to
preserve
enterprise,
data
confidentiality
and
enterprise
relationship
confidentiality,
while
at
the
same
time
guaranteeing
compliance
with
regulation.

Another
aspect
is
that
regulation
is
not
really
the
same
across
the
same
country
or
it's
not.
It's
not
impacting
the
same
way
all
enterprises,
even
in
the
same
country,
so
wasps
are
the
the
work
that
we
have
contributed
to
the
open
source
community,
like
mere
bft,
aims
to
and
make
to
strengthen
all
the
decentralization
aspects
of
blockchain
system
by
giving
them
a
scalability
boost
beyond
the
state
of
the
art,
scalability
and
performance
our
assets,
our
the
work
around
the
token
sdk
is
a
hyperledger
fabric.

Our
interoperability
work
aims
to
facilitate
exchanges
across
different
networks
because,
as
I
mentioned,
different
types
of
regulation
applied
to
different
countries,
different
kind
of
preferences,
different
systems,
different
enterprises
would
have
with
respect
to
the
technology
they
would
develop
and,
last
but
not
least,
our
fabric
private
chain
codes
and
the
fabric
contributions
of
fabric
private
chain
code
and
the
fabric.
Smart
client
aim
to
provide
a
little
bit
more
flexibility
when
it
comes
to
our
privacy
options.

pace
of
innovation
that
we're
trying
to
provide
here
is
is
really
to
really
to
really
drive
more
business
use
cases
more
areas
where
this
technology
can
play

big
role
now,

there's
a
question
that
jennifer
has
here,
and
it
says
she
says:
the
walmart
project
is
a
big
inspiration
to
what
I
needed
to
develop,
and
so
she
really
wants
to
know
a
little
bit
more
about
that
particular
project.

you
elaborate
on
that?

Walmart
is
totally
one
of
the
big
companies
using
that,
along
with
its
suppliers,
but
for
our
other,
just
like
albertsons
care
for
big
food
manufacturers
like
nestle.
So
this
is
much
beyond
this
walmart,
although
walmart
was
an
anchor
in
the
beginning,
and-
and
it's
really
using
blockchain
in
one
of
the
specific
areas
about
provenance
and
provenance
here
is,
is
powering
food
safety
and
also
transparency
to
end
consumers.

So
not
only
the
platform
provides
information
about,
as
as
frankie
annis
was
mentioning
yesterday,
right
about
food
recalls
and
safety,
but
also
the
consumers.
Sort
of
that
visibility
is
this
organic.
Is
this
grown
with
my
local
farmer
and
and
we've
also
not
made
it
into
a
platform
which
you
call
transparent
supply
that
others
are
using
now
to
build
their
own
ecosystem.
So
a
good
example
is
farmer
connect
which
is
doing
this
in
the
coffee,
ecosystem
and
and
one
of
the
great
uses
there.

I
I
see
is
really
connecting
consumers
not
only
with
the
visibility
into
the
coffee
supply
chain,
but
actually
connecting
them
to
the
farmers
who
usually
make
the
smallest
amount
of
money
in
the
whole
coffee
transaction,
but
yet
are
burdened
with
having
sustainable
practices
and
the
like.
Labor
practices
not
bring
the
kids
to
the
field
type
of
things.
So
it's
really
connecting
them
by
giving
a
small
amount
of
appreciation
there
right.

So
it
provides
that
basis
of
transparency
across
the
supply
chain
that
can
be
used
for
safety
for
for
providing
consumers,
better
visibility
into
their
practices
and
how
the
food
is
sourced
or
other
things
are
sourced,
and
then
we
are
seeing
even
further,
as
as
people
are
looking
into
sustainability
and
carbon,
how,
along
with
the
flow
of
code,
we
can
track
these
other
things.
Also.
So,
as
I
said,
the
people
can
join
the
network
or
or
we
also
sell
it
as
a
platform
and
that's
an
easy
way
of
just
using.

have
a
whole
new
sections
that
was
recently
developed
and
added
to
the
documentation
of
fabric
on
how
to
actually
deploy
a
network
in
production,
but
it
still
remains
quite
a
bit
of
challenge,
and
so
I
think
the
console
will
provide
a
you
know,
a
user
interface
that
should
make
that
much
easier.
But
I
will
I
will
cheat
right
away
and
say
that
other
than
that,
I
think
the
fabrics.
Mod
client
is
very
interesting.
I'll.
Tell
you
why?
Because
it
actually
changes
the
level
of
of
concern.

actually
moves
the
api
higher
up
and
people
have
been
lamenting
for
years
about
the
disappearance
of
another
project
called
composer
because
composer
had
this
ability
to
provide
people,
the
business
developer
with
the
a
model
that
was
very
close
to
their
concern
and
and
we
we
actually
disbanded
the.
I
mean
we
discontinued
this
project
and
I
mean
we
hyper
ledger
right.

Smart
client
that
allows
essentially
provides
more
flexibility
in
the
interactions
between
different
clients,
of
the
blockchain
system
can
be
obtained
or
on
chain
interactions,
and
that's
exactly
the
capability
that
we
are
using
in
the
token
sdk
side
as
well
and
near
bft
fabric,
private
chaincode
also
completes
the
privacy
story,
complements
the
privacy
story
there
using
a
completely
different
model,
whereas
mere
bft
gives
you
this
decentralization
flavor.
That
is
very
much
required
in
blockchain
systems
without
taxing
performance.

But
no
I
get
it,
I
mean
ellie.
Your
point
is
by
having
all
of
these
different
contributions,
there's
a
lot
more
flexibility
which,
again
to
me
then
brings
more
use
cases
into
this,
this
particular
area,
and
then
I
know
your
your
point
on
the
I.
I
will
call
it
the
frictionless
experience
in
terms
of
managing
an
environment.

It
takes
a
man
years,
I
mean
hundreds
of
man
years
of
work;
actually
they
are
encapsulated
in
it,
so
so
that
is
high,
but
I
would
also
choose,
among
other
things,
for
example,
interoperability
thing
like
we
were,
where
we
start
working
with
other
groups
and
and
really
sort
of
grow,
the
community
about
how
these
different
dlt
technologies
and
even
different
networks
can
interoperate
right.
So
I
I
think,
that's
why
it's
difficult
to
choose
this.
There's
such
a
rich
set
of
really
key
contributions
that
we're
announcing
today.

having
been
you

certain

always
hear
about.

god,
you

fabric
doesn't
support
tokens.
Oh
my
god,
fabric
doesn't
have
true.
You
know
fully
byzantine
fault,
tolerant
consensus,
oh
my
god!
Well
now
it
does,
but
really
it
you
can't.

know
you
really
couldn't
put
tokens
in
without
the
full
bft
consensus,
because
if
you
really
wanted
to
use
it,
for
you
know
some
you
know
either
to
manage.
You
know
true
tokens.
As
some
of
the
customers
we've
worked
with,
have
tried
to
do.
You
need
the
full
byzantine
fault,
tolerant
aspect
of
things,
but
a
lot
of
the
use
cases
that
we
have
done.

today,
as
we've
demonstrated
whether
it's
food
trust,
whether
it's
trade
lens,
whether
it's
we
trade,
they
didn't
need
it
because
they
aren't
dealing
with.
You
know
you
know
they're
not
dealing
with
financial
tokens,
that
you're,
exchanging
and
so
forth,
and
you're
worried
that
somebody's
going
to
steal
all
your
tokens,
it's
more
about
data
sharing
and
and
and
you
know,
sort
of
and
tracking
and
tracing
and
but
now
there's
really
no
excuse.
You
can
pretty
much
with
the
assets
that
we've
contributed
now
in
open
source.

to,
for
instance,
to
incorporate
the
the
mere
bft
capabilities
into
the
operations
console
so
that
we
can
actually
deploy
and
manage
a
fully
bft
network
as
well
as
one
using
the
traditional
consensus
model
that
we
have.
So
I
think
it's
really
pretty
exciting
because
they
they
sort
of
all
feed
off
each
other
or
build
off
each
other
and
create
a
set
of
capabilities
that
pretty
much
gives
us
unlimited
potential
from
a
use
case
perspective.

basically,
the
erm
client
does
support
tokens,
but
you
know
having
it
in
fabric
is
by
no
means
a
problem.
It's
it's
a
different
framework,
different
type
of
application,
you're
going
to
build
on
it.
You

same
kind

functionality,
but
we
also
have
additional
features
that
we
hope
will
be
a
differentiator
such
as
the
privacy
features
that
he
was
talking
about
earlier.
