December
we
had
just
sold
rocketdock
to
change
healthcare,
which
is
those
the
largest
healthcare
Clearing
House
in
the
world
and
we'll
get
on
to
what
that
means
to
successful
watch-chain
business
models
in
a
second
but
I
wasn't
quite
sure,
I
want
to
talk
about
it
at
that
point.
I,
so
I
grew
up
in
Kitsap
County
across
the
water,
so
I
spent
the
last
six
months,
starting
with
chainsaw
is
much
more
than
struggling
with
watching,
and
that
was
not
so
my
background.

before

I

to
Microsoft.

betting
through
something
on
the
order
of

700
companies
define
roughly
10,
so
we're
scouring
the
world
for
the
best
and
the
brightest
company.
Our
intention
is
to
get
them
there
to
solve

companies,

hopefully
we
get
you
to
stay.

goal-

goal
for
this
panel

not

introduce
you
to
Oregon,
but
when
I
was
talking
to
Marissa
about
the
topic,
we
have
Paquita,
we
started
out
and
built
a
health
care
Clearing
House.
We
made
ourselves
into
a
clearinghouse,
so
you
may
or
may
not
know,
but
at
the
center
of
all
of
healthcare
business
transactions
claims
that
are
sent
back
and
forth
your
eligibility.

It
all
goes
across
a
clearinghouse,
much
like
in
the
financial
sector
so
and
the
architecture
and
the
technologies
that
drive
doubt
or
circa
1998
they're
a
largely
pre
mobile
free
internet,
and
you
may
have
noticed
that's
why
you
always
have
to
fill
out
your
paperwork
over
and
over
again
that
nothing.
So
we
built
that
and
we
put
and
we
expose
all
those
services
as
a
pis-
and
we
are
intent
over
time-
was
to
just
inter
mediate
our
own
Clearing
House
and
move
it
on
to
the
blockchain,
which
we
did
and
as
part
of
that.

many
of
you
know
what
the
business
model
is
that
drives
participation
in
that
Network?
Well,
that's
pretty
good

actually

than
I
thought.
It
would
be.

you
feel

business
models
are
providing
enough
incentive
for
transactions
at
scale
and
that
project?

the
hardest
part.
It
is
the
most
often
neglected
prior
to
diving
in
and
starting
to
work
on
these
decentralized
projects.
Each
one
of
these
individuals
has
something

tell
you
about
that
and
that's
why
we
asked
them
to
be
here
today,
so
I'm
just
going

throw
it
out
there
and
you
don't
have
to
wait
till
the

going

to
be
talking

something

other

private

chain
business
models?

won't
avoid
talking
about
open,
but
it's
probably
not
going
to
be

most
discussed
just
for
your

all

start

Why
is
it
important?
Why
is
it
important
to
start
with
the
business
model?
It
seems
like
a
simple
question,
but
it
seems
like
a
lot
of
people
out
there,
starting
with
that
business
model,
at
least
not
one.
Anyone
wants
to
participate
in.
So
why
don't
we
start
with
that
resident
important.

What's
the
use
case,
we're
focusing
on
what's
the
business
value?
Is
it
going
to
reduce
the
cost
of
care?
Is
it
going
to
improve
on
funds
etc?
And
you
know
do
they
build
it
and
then
they
after
at
some
point
they
figure
out
to
make
this
fly?
We
have
to
build
a
consortium
and,
by
the
point,
it's
almost
too
late.
They've
run
out
of
runway
right,
so
our
guidance
is
start
with
the
consortium
start
with
the
use
case.

information
exchange
is
it
a
supply
chain?
Those
networks
already
exist.
They
have
a
use
case.
They
have
business
value,
you
can
drop
blockchain
and
get
it
working
he'll.
The
additional
value
proved
itself
out
and
then
layer
on
additional
use
cases.
It's
easy
to
layer
on
use
cases
what's
hard
is
to
build
that
initial
consortium
and
prove
the
business
value

Blackstone's
was
one
of
them
and
highly
populous
in
a
couple
movies,
but
also
substitution
for
certificates
and
diamonds
being
substituted
laughs

emerging
to
be,
as
you
know,
able
to
be
passed
off
as
naturally

and,
fundamentally,
the
loss
of
trust
in
the
collateral
of
a
diamond
being
lost.
It
was
just
gone.
Western

finances
have
exited
funding

diamond
market.
So
subsequently,
how
do
you
work
with
an
industry
built
consortiums
and
partnerships
so
that
you're
actually
using
the
technology
to
solve
a
problem?

business
case
is
then
only
as
good
as
the
problem
you're
solving
and
from
that
perspective,
if
you
can
work
with
industry
to
fundamentally
address
some
of
those
issues
and
in
our
case
it's
bringing
back
trust
through
the
provenance
of
other
diamonds
or
of
other
objects,
then
you
have
a
business
model
and
that
business
model,
mainly
multi-varied,
and
also
you
need
to
be
able
to
pivot
on
your
models,
which
I
hear
all
the
time
in
a
startup
but
yeah.
For
us,
it
was
a
little
bit
different.

think
it's
I
think
it's
actually
very
fundamental
if
you
think
about
the
technology
of
blockchain,
there's
two
basic
attributes
to
it:
that
neither
one
is
consensus,
the
others
collaboration
and
so
all
organizations
have
to
follow
their
technology
infrastructure
and
vice
versa.
So
you
cannot
have
a
collaborative
blotching
network
if
you
do
not
have
collaboration
and
consensus
among
the
humans
involved,
because
if
you
don't
have
that
spiritual
alignment,
the
technology
is
not
going
to
solve
the
problem,
so
you
have
to
align
that
with
the
collaboration.

You
can
pretty
much
guarantee
that
that
business
model
will
not
be
largely
accepted
by
legacy
enterprise,
for
example
in
healthcare.
We
all
talk-
or
we
least
we
see
on
the
news
each
year,
the
cost
described
as
cost
of
healthcare
going
up
when
it's
over
three
trillion
now
here.
Well
flip
that
around
that
is
described
as
cost,
but
all
of
that
is
revenue
going
into
someone's
pocket.
You
would
prefer
that
revenue
does
not
go
elsewhere,
so
in
healthcare.
It
works
just
well
enough.

It
makes
them
over
three
trillion
in
profit
a
year
so
keep
these
are
the
sorts
of
things
you
have
to
keep
in
mind
when
you're
thinking
about
oh
well,
of
course,
they're
gonna
want
to
do
it
this
way,
because
to
be
so
much
more
efficient,
it
would
cause
the
patient's
so
much
less,
not
necessarily
so.
This
is
a
kind
of
things
when
we're
digging
into
what
sorts
of
business
models
are
going
to
work
and
what
will
they
care
about
collectively
enough
to
get
together?

That's
what
you
have
to
think
about
so
in
that
consortium,
where
it
was,
it
wasn't
just
cell
systems,
it
was
Mayo,
it
was
a
capital
one.
It
was
Microsoft
and
Amazon
and
fruit,
co
and
pharma
Steve,
big
pharma
companies
and
McKesson,
which
distributes
all
the
medical
goods.
The
only
thing
they
can
agree
on
that
they
would
all
do
together
was
identity
at
least
a
start.

Because
one
of
the
strongest
consortium
we've
seen
the
dog
chain
Alliance,
could
you
tell
them
a
little
bit
about
anything?
You
talked
a
little
bit
about
the
difference
between
having
a
consortium
and
getting
a
lot
of
organizations
to
sign
up
out
of
interest
and
even
participating
in
meetings
versus
then
committing
to
actually
connect
their
enterprise
systems
to
a
blockchain
and
transact
right.
Those
are
those
are
different
things.
That's
right.

Yeah,
so
to
get
them
in
the
room
was
six
years
of
being
on
a
plane,
because
those
were
the
same
relationships.
I
was
building
to
sell
our
services
as
a
provider
of
enterprise
solutions,
so
they
were
all
curious
because
blockchain
was
the
next
big
thing.
They
were
all
to
give
credit.
They
were
all
aspirational
in
that,
even
if
blockchain
wasn't
required
for
some
of
the
things
we
were
talking
about,
it
felt
like
a
forcing
function
and
new
solutions
where
everyone
started
at
the
same
place
in
the
same
design
standpoint
and
could
work
forward
together.

doesn't
seem
at
least
enough
to
show
up.
That's
probably
why
I
must
have
been
did
show

and
they
wanted
to
make
sure.
No
one
else
heard
something
or
got
something
they
didn't
get
and

Microsoft
Tuesday.
So
that
was
an
attractor
that
was
probably

wasn't
sure
they
were
going
to
walk
in
the
door
until
they
actually
did,
but
we
have
getting
to
go
to.

of
them
are
running
Windows
on
their
desktop.

few
of
them
are
using
Oracle
databases.
A
lot
of
them
are
using.
You
know
his
talk,
server
blah
blah
whatever
the
latest
is
so
they
already
have
relationships.
They
already
have
trusted
brands.
They
typically
aren't
going
to
go
to
a
start-up
for
their
new
architecture.

strongly
for
years
this
concept
of
you
know
who
pays
the
benefits
with
decent
assistance
right.
We
talked
about
consortiums.
What
are
you
seeing
at
there
he's
seeing
organizations
forming
for
the
creating
consortium
and
that's
their
business
model?
Are
you
seeing
sort
of
first
among
equals?
The
large
company
then
kind
of
what.

Can
give
an
observation
from
from
healthcare
standpoint
would
love
to
hear
what
others
have
to
share,
but
some
of
the
stronger
consortium
we've
seen
are
like
the
synaptic
compromise.
You
know
beyond
our
chain:
synaptic
health
alliance.
That's
what
I
hope
to
me
about
quest
Diagnostics,
multi
planning.
You
know
the
ascension
at
so
so
there's
a
consortium
there.
There
is
no
sort
of
intermediary
at
the
hub
of
that,
because
we
really
don't
see
blockchain
disintermediating
per
se.

very
often
is
a
role
for
an
interview
earring,
but
it's
not
bottle
making
transaction
these
weights
more,
enable
and
support.
You
know:
governance,
consensus
building
that
kind
of
thing,
but
that
synaptic
compromise
is
one
of
the
strongest
in
terms
of
participation
by
actual
healthcare
organizations
that
from
the
ground
up,
are
willing
to
transact
and
they
define
the
use
case.
They
know
the
business
value
and
they
reported
out
at
hims
nineteen
in
Orlando
in
February
that
everything's
going
well
thumbs
up
they're
moving
to
production
this
year,
that's
their
plan.

They
said
it's
an
industry
industry
consortium
made
by
industry
leaders
to
organize
themselves
around
a
couple
of
things,
at
least
to
start
I'm,
assuming
there's
like
physician
registries,
and
things
like
that,
they're
very,
very
difficult
to
do
right
now
and
they
all
benefit.
It's
like
a
traditional
tech
model
coming
together
to
agree
on
a
standard.
They
all
benefit,
we'll
have
a
larger
market
if
they
can
accomplish
it
together
and
and
I
would
agree
that
we're
at
least
in
healthcare
where
that's
where
the
greatest
success
is
happening.
Right
now
and.

Just
one
more
word
on
that,
because
synaptic
Health
Alliance,
like
the
use
cases,
provider
directory
right
and
the
problem
is,
is
that
provider
directory
demographic
information
tradition
is
being
maintained
independently
by
each
of
those
organizations
so
many
times
the
cost
of
maintenance.
It's
not
about
storage
storage
is
cheap.
It's
about
maintaining
all
that
information
in
each
of
the
packets
item
and
the
fact
that
that
maintenance
is
suboptimal.
When
you
end
up
with
inconsistencies,
claims
bounced
and
that
products
cost
it
tries
to
lay
across
all
kinds
of
problems
right.
So
they
realized
that
hey.

To
be
a
winner
and
to
the
use
cases
that
I
use
to
paint
the
picture
for
some
of
the
organizations,
I
was
talking
to
I,
actually
slid
stock
market
capitalization
numbers
across
the
table
and
one
was
I,
was
comparing
Visa
versus
Bank
of
America
and
why
I
was
comparing
the
Sabre
versus
American
Airlines
and
if
you
know
the
history
of
both
of
those
organizations
they
spun
out
as
an
IT
project
within
each
of
those
organizations.
They
would
have
never
survived
if
they
had
stayed
internally.

The
competitors
would
have
never
embraced
at
etcetera,
and
so
there
are
certain
things
where
you're
going
to
be
doing
an
industry
model
where
it's
going
to
have
to
be
arm's
length
and
nobody's
going
to
be
dominant,
otherwise
nobody's
going
to
sign
on
to
this
whole
retail
movement,
that's
going
on
between
Walmart
and
Target
and
others.
If
you're
a
small
retailer.
How
many
different
inventory
management
systems
you're
gonna
have
to
subscribe
to,
there's
going
to
end
up
being
3
sometime
in
the
future,
whether
that's
3
years
or
20
years,
I,
don't
know.

electronic
medical
records,
for
example.
They
are
their
business.
Models
are
typically
still
closed,
closed
garden
and
wall
garden.
They
don't.
They
are
in
business
to
help
large
health
systems
keep
their
patients

will
pay
bounty
bounties
for
a
Health
System
to
require
all
of
the
primary
care
and
ancillary
care
providers
in
the
community
to
adopt
that
EHR.

there's
not
that
you're
correct,
if
not
a
lot
of
business
support
around

data,

it's
still
viewed
because
healthcare
largely
didn't
do
the
internet
or
mobile,
they
don't
have
an
experience
of
how
data
fluidity
can
actually
grow

business.

not
their
experience,
so
you
have
to,
if
you
think,
about
going
to
health
care.
At
least
you
have
to
about
bringing
that
you
can
have
to
do
a
lot
of
educating
as
to
why
it
would
be
an
improvement.

things
going
on
down
in
Oregon
right
now
on
the
web,
there's
a
center
field
703,
which
is
being
considered
right
now.
It's
called
the
health
care
information,
property
act,
privacy,
the
property.
What
it
is
feeding
is
the
first
is
the
first
bill
of
its
kind
in
the
nation
which
is
stating
that
your
personal
health
care
data
is
your
personal
property
and
it
cannot
be
commercialized
without
two
things.

is
your
express
consent
and
the
second
without
you
receiving
consideration,
because
I
was
in
a
conference
recently
there
leeches
you
we're
one
of
the
largest
insurers
and
word
against
that.
There
is
that
we
own
the
data,
no
I,
don't
think
so.

CMS
has
said
very
clearly:
the
data
is
the
patient's
data,
is
their
property?
Property
has
ownership
rights.

So
what
we're
going
after
is
the
ownership
rights
once
that's
created
and
in
this
concept
the

Triple

promulgating,
which
is
called
fair
trade
data
marketplaces
are
going
to
start
to
exist
and
that's
going
to
force
the
providers
and
the
technology
companies
to
start
to
subscribe
to.
It's
gonna
have
to
come
to
the
legislation.
There's
no
doubt
about
it,
which.

You're
the
issue
state
is
is
addressed
by
the
technology,
so
well.
We
dealing
in
different
countries
outside
the
United
States
with
each
month
with
much
stronger
privacy
laws
and
when
you
start
dealing
with
privacy
laws
where
companies
at
heavy
risk
of
being
fined
if
they
share
data,
either
purposefully
or
accidentally.
That's
when
you
start
having
issues
in
consortiums
and
that's
both
an
opportunity
and
a
risk.
The
other
risk
goes
to
the
heart
of
that
chain,
and
that
is
a
single
source
of
truth
versus
distributed.

I
want
as
an
organization
to
expose
my
database
to
be
actin
or
do
I
want
two
large
little
piece
of
data
on
on
a
highly
secured
environment
that
can
form
part
of
a
consensus
model.
That's
why
blockchain
works
in
those
environments
that,
if
you
add
things
like
I'm,
a
more
encryption
on
top
of
that
a
lot
of
work
around
privacy,
confidentiality
computing,
that's
where
it
makes
sense
to
look
a
bulk
chain
for
those
sorts
of
deployments.

definitely
agree
with
my
colleagues.
You
know.
Privacy,
security
and
compliance
super
super
important
to
get
those
engaged
early
on
because
they
can
actually
impact
what
you
know
use
case.
You
pick
what
David
goes
on
blockchain,
where
you
put
your
blockchain
knows
what
data
you
put
on
and
where
those
blockchain
nodes
aren't
going
to
depend
are
going
to
impact.
What
you
know,
compliance
your
hell
to
is
a
gbbr.
Is
it
HIPAA
and
that
can
vary
over
time,
so
you
have
to
think
about.
Where
are
we
starting
our
pilot
and
then
in
Oregon?

And
where
is
it
going
to
go
long
term?
Because
if
you're
going
to
stand
up
those
growth,
you
could
end
up
with
what
we
call
data
sovereignty,
transport
or
data
flow
issues,
but
the
the
recipe
for
success
that
we're
seeing
in
terms
of
best
practices
is
start
with
your
consortium
start
with
a
use
case.
No
we're
gonna
put
this
data
blockchain
and
figure
out
later
how
to
use
it
start
with
the
use
case.
Is
it
provider
directory?
Is
it
providing
preventing
and
then
obviously,
what's
the
business
value
and
get
everybody
bought
into
that?

Now
the
collective
machine
knows
how
to
resolve
to
the
PII,
because
you
need
to
be
able
to
identify
to
do
main
things,
but
that
stuff
doesn't
need
to
actually
live
on
the
blockchain,
and
you
don't
want
it
to
go
on
blockchain,
especially
if
you
could
be
held
to
rules
like
GPR
right
to
be
forgotten.
If
that's
PII
is
on
the
immutable,
blockchain
you've
got
a
problem.

an

question

think
you
know
it
depends
if
you're
coming
out
of
the
blockchain
is
new
and
how
can
we
maximize
its
value
versus?
What's
the
use
case
in
the
business
value
to
healthcare
and
what
we're
seeing

blockchain
is
going
through
a
little
bit
of
a
trough
of
disillusionment
right
now,
the
recipe
for
winning
is
focused
on
the
latter
focus
on.
What's
the
value
to
health
care
is
a
reduced
cost
is
an
improved
patient
outcomes
of
cream
engagement,
improve
experiences
whatever
not
blockchains,
behind
health
care?

Doesn't
care
really
at
the
end
of
the
day
right
and
so
use
blockchain
for
what
it
needs
to
be
used
for,
but
also
to
tell
healthcare
that
they
throw
away
that
EHR.
You
invested
millions
of
dollars
in
just
use
blockchain
it's
a
recipe
for
failure
right
versus
that
blockchain
connect
into
your
EHR
on
the
backend.
This
is
the
additional
business
value
instead
of
provide
and
build
from
there
again
building
that
Minimum
Viable
Network,
that
initial
consortium
and
proving
it
out
with
one
killer
use
case.
It
can
be
a
simple
one
that
provided
directory.

If
you
can
do
that
with
one
use
case,
proof
business
value,
get
those
health
care
organizations
to
stand
up
and
attest
to
that
business,
value,
you're
off
right
and
you
will
get
more
joining
into
the
consortium.
Then
you
can
stack
on
your
additional
use
cases.
It's
easy
once
you've
got
that
initial
momentum.

also
think
we
