Description
Channel key routing challenges and research from academia and other R&D channels.
A
A
Within
the
internet,
we
need
a
way
to
differentiate
between
the
different
devices,
networks,
cloud
and
content
resources.
We
use
ip
addresses
as
unique
identifiers
to
network
locations.
Paths
to
the
ip
destinations
are
disseminated
using
internet
routing
systems.
Typically,
a
routing
system
will
find
the
least
cost
path
to
the
destination.
A
Some
routing
systems
will
use
a
deterministic
and
dynamic
routing
protocol.
Often
a
network
or
service
provider
will
want
to
apply
some
local
policy
to
modify
the
behavior
of
how
packets
are
forwarded
towards
their
destination.
Ip
address
overlay
techniques
have
also
been
developed
to
provide
additional
context
and
control
of
forwarding
decisions.
A
In
the
past
year,
we've
participated
in
or
observed
several
conferences
and
workshops
and
numerous
technical
papers
that
have
highlighted
internet
routing
research
challenges,
including
topics
relevant
to
contextual,
forwarding
and
semantic.
Addressing
and
routing
at
the
ietf.
We've
also
helped
organize
site
meetings
for
specific
routing
challenges
and
research.
This
includes
routing
security,
service,
routing
and
addressing
research.
A
Recently,
several
participants
from
those
routing
workshops
and
conference
sessions
have
had
discussions
for
a
proposed
research
group
within
the
irtf.
This
is
currently
titled
routing
addressing
in
the
internet
with
semantic
enhancements
or
race.
For
short,
this
rg
would
encourage
research
and
debate
semantic
routing
systems
and
architectures.
It
would
include
consideration
of
limited
domains
and
their
interconnection,
additional
routing
functions
and
the
scaling
and
stability
of
systems
with
differentiated
routing
semantics.
