From YouTube: IETF Hackathon: DNS Privacy
Description
DNS Privacy was a project at the IETF Hackathon held in Chicago March 2017. Sara Dickinson explains how code and open standards are working together to improve the privacy of Internet users.
A
My
name's
Sarah
Dickinson
I
work
for
Synod
NIT
I've,
been
involved
in
the
IETF
98
hackathon
and
I
was
working
in
the
DNS
privity
team,
we're
interested
in
implementing
a
new
standards
that
will
allow
for
users,
DNS
queries
and
responses
to
be
encrypted,
and
this
should
greatly
increase
users.
Privacy
on
the
internet,
because
DNS
queries
can
be
a
significant
leakage
of
people's
personal
activity
on
the
Internet.
Today,
the
IETF
has
been
involved
through
the
deep
rise
working
group
and
producing
new
standards
related
to
that
encryption.
A
The
hackathon
has
been
key
in
getting
implementations
of
those
standards
done
with
all
the
relevant
people
at
one
table
in
one
room.
At
the
same
time
because
of
key
developments
at
hackathon,
we
now
have
servers
deployed
in
the
world
and
at
the
latest,
hackathon
we've
written
monitoring
software
to
look
at
those
servers.
So
we
are
genuinely
moving
forward
with
the
deployment
of
a
new
protocol.
Thanks
to
our
involvement
in
the
hackathon.
