From YouTube: IETF Hackathon Overview
Description
IETF Hackathons encourage developers to collaborate and develop utilities, ideas, sample code, and solutions that show practical implementations of technical standards for the global Internet. They accelerate and improve the standards developed in the Internet Engineering Task Force. IETF Hackathons are collaborative events, not competition–free to attend and open to everyone. Past IETF Hackathons have covered a range of topics including; DNS, HTTP 2.0, NETVC, OpenDaylight, ONOS, VPP/FD.io, RiOT, SFC, TLS 1.3, WebRTC, YANG/NETCONF/RESTCONF. New technologies are always encouraged.
A
Hi
I'm
Charles
echo
I'm
here
at
the
IETF
hackathon
in
Montreal.
This
is
our
second
time
in
Montreal
with
the
hackathon
and
our
14th
hackathon.
So
we
started
the
hackathon
about
four
years
ago
and
the
the
idea
was.
There
was
really
two
main
goals:
one
was
to
advance
the
pace
and
relevance
of
IETF
standards
and
the
other
one
was
to
bring
more
people,
especially
more
developers,
young
people
into
the
idea
and
get
them
involved
and
that
first
hackathon,
four
years
ago
we
had
40
to
50
people.
A
They're
standardizing
to
make
sure
that
they're
complete
that
they're
implementable,
that
they
actually
work.
As
expected,
or
as
hope,
the
other
thing
probably
about
25
percent
of
the
people
who
are
here-
it's
actually
their
first
time
at
any
ITF
event,
not
just
at
a
hackathon
but
their
first
experience
with
the
idea,
and
so
that's
just
really
fantastic-
to
see
to
a
lot
of
people
coming
finding
that
they
can
contribute
to
the
IETF
in
a
way
that
makes
sense
for
them
or
is
rewarding
to
them.
They
contribute
with
code
with
ideas
here
in
the
hackathon.
A
Some
of
them
came
just
for
the
hackathon.
What
we're
seeing
and
really
our
goal
is
for
them
to
stay,
to
get
warm
in
the
ietf.
For
this
to
be
a
good
first
experience
and
introduction
to
how
the
ietf
works
and
the
people
who
are
here
and
we're
seeing
that
work,
and
so
special
thanks
I
should
say
to
our
sponsors:
I
can
stepped
up
to
sponsor,
not
just
in
this
hackathon
it
actually
the
next
two.
We
thank
them
for
their
support.
We
welcome
other
sponsors.
