Today, on its fifth anniversary, Input Output Global CEO, Charles Hoskinson wishes the community a fond happy birthday to the Cardano blockchain. Along with some friends from the Cardano community.
While it has been a long and eventful journey for Cardano, this is only the beginning. Vasil represents an incredible evolution and a taste of things to come. But, it's important to remember where Cardano was born:
The Cardano blockchain was launched with the goal of creating a financial and social operating system for the world. This mission grew from foundational academic research into a global decentralized network which brings together builders and changemakers from around the world.
Happy birthday to the Cardano blockchain, and thank you to our international community of ada holders, stake pool operators, developers & creators, entrepreneurs, and supporters.

We've
learned
a
lot
over
these
last
five
years
and
we've
grown
a
lot
over
these
last
five
years
as
a
community.
What
started
as
Byron
a
static
and
Federated
system
to
bootstrap
cardano
has
turned
into
Shelley,
which
has
enabled
more
than
3
000
stake,
pool
operators
to
maintain
a
ledger
across
the
world
with
24
7
reliability
and
an
uptime
of
more
than
1700
days
without
any
significant
disruption.

So
when
we
look
at
the
genie
coefficient,
cardano
is
one
of
the
most
distributed
of
all
cryptocurrencies
on
Market,
which
means
it's
owned
by
and
for
the
people
and
maintained
by
the
people.
Vassel
represents
a
very
significant
event
in
the
history
of
cardano.
This
is
the
most
significant
and
complex
hard
Fork.
We've
ever
done
for
a
variety
of
reasons.

First,
because
the
scale
of
cardano
is
so
vast,
more
than
200
exchanges
have
had
to
upgrade
dozen
plus
wallets
have
had
to
upgrade
the
thousands
of
stake,
pool
operators
had
to
upgrade,
and
many
dapps
for
the
first
time
ever
had
to
either
upgrade
or
find
ways
to
ensure
that
the
quality
of
service
is
maintained.
As
we
move
from
Pluto's
version,
one
to
Bluetooth
version
two,
and
while
we
do
have
backward
compatibility,
many
dapps,
who
have
upgraded
from
Pluto's
version,
one
to
two.

Some
of
them
have
reported,
for
example,
ardano,
a
90
reduction
in
transaction
fees
and
a
considerable
Improvement
and
the
quality
of
experience
and
the
efficiency
of
the
system.
Things
like
reference
inputs,
reference
grips,
inline
datums

types
of
ideas.
They
vastly
improve
the
expressiveness
of
cardano,
which
will
enable
new
experiences

reaching
a

State
and
shortly
thereafter,
Hydra
things
to
come
like
side
chains
and
the
sips
for
input.
Endorsers
will
give
a
road
map
and
a
technology
framework
that
will
allow
cardano
to
meet
its
demands
for
scale
for
the
years
to
come,
and
we
look
at
Voltaire
the
seeds
of
self-governance,
recursive
governance.
The
seeds
of
self-determination,
pushing
power
to
the
edges
are
already
underway.
We'll
have
many
announcements
as
an
ecosystem.

Come
November,
a
members-based
organizations
already
under
construction
to
represent
the
bureaucracy
of
the
Cardinal
ecosystem,
endowed
with
power
by
you
and
many
sips
are
on
the
way
like
sip
47,
which
give
even
more
power
to
various
actors
like
stake,
pool
operators
and
so
forth.
This
is
the
backbone
of
Volterra
in
2023.
Both
will
be
brought
to
Market
and
cardano's.
Original
road
map
will
come
to
a
close,
which
gives
us
the
strongest
most
resilient
self-governing
organism
ever
conceived
with
a
population
in
the
millions
and
much
utility
for
all.
