We

circles,
it's
not
about
hierarchies.
This
is
about
tool
building.
This
is
about
building
a
machine
that
can
solve
the
problems
of
the
future,
not
just
ours
but
everyone's,
and
when
you
think
about
these
machines,
you
think
about
what's
required
to
make
change.
What
do
you
need?
You
need
good
tools,
you
need
great
knowledge
and
the
right
methodology,
as
well
as
the
proper
environment.
A
If
you
have
these
three
collections
of
things,
you
can
actually
make
real
change
and
sustainable
change
when
we
look
at,
for
example,
us
government.
Recently,
this
weekend
we
ran
into
an
issue
where
there's
a
very
damning
piece
of
legislation
that,
on
the
surface
of
it,
would
probably
make
cryptocurrencies
illegal
in
the
united
states
or
at
least
impossible
to
comply
with,
and
everybody
acknowledged
it
spent
the
weekend
calling
senators
I
spent
the
weekend
rallying
people.
We
did
a
lot
of
lobbying.
A
We
got
to
a
point
where
we
had
a
super
majority
of
senators
who
agreed
to
change
the
language
over
75
out
of
a
hundred.
The
problem
is,
we
didn't
get
it
done.
Why?
Because
we
didn't
have
the
right
to
vote.
That's
an
example
of
where
the
system
works
against
you.
So
even
if
you
have
the
the
will
to
change
and
the
people,
the
change,
if
the
tools
in
the
environment
and
the
methodology
upon
which
change
happens
is
not
well
formed,
you
can't
get
change.
A
So
the
point
of
catalyst
was
to
conduct
a
collection
of
experiments
in
every
single
dimension.
So
how
do
we
organize?
How
do
we
communicate
with
each
other?
How
do
we
work
together?
How
do
we
listen
with
each
other,
because
listening
is
just
as
important
as
talking
and
we
decided
the
best
mechanism
to
facilitate
that
gradual
process
would
be
through
these
concepts
of
funds?
That's
the
unit
of
change,
so
we
started
with
fun
too,
and
there
were
no
community
challenges,
and
you
know
we.
A
We
were
just
looking
at
trying
to
get
the
the
voting
experience
to
a
point
where
people
could
participate
and
then
fund
three
came,
and
there
was
only
a
half
million
dollars
and
fund
four
came
and
it
was
about
a
million
dollars
and
we
went
from
three
challenges
to
seven
challenges
and
then
something
different
for
fun.
Five
occurred
out
of
the
nine
challenges
that
we
had,
two
of
which
were
community
chosen
and
now
we're
at
the
dawn
of
fund
six
four
million
dollars
at
stake,
and
there
are
18
challenges.

Challenge
is
defined
as
kind
of
a
a
call
for
proposals
to
def
to
solve
a
hard
problem
with
a
predefined
budget,
18
of
those
calls,
12
of
which
were
selected
by
you,
the
community,
so
we've
gone
from
nothing
to
the
majority
and
if
we
look
at
fund
seven
beyond
eventually
one
hundred
percent,
we're
approaching
that
asymptotically
for
the
community
to
decide.
So
that
means
you
guys
now
have
self-determination
you're
starting
to
decide
what
problems
need
to
be
solved.

And
every
time
we
do
this,
the
funding
goes
up,
which
means
more
and
more
projects
come
71
were
funded
in
fund
five
and
I
imagine
over
a
hundred
will
be
funded
in
fund
six.
That's
pretty
remarkable
when
you
think
about
that
when
you
actually
drill
into
that,
because
what
you're
basically
saying
is
we
have
constructed
this
meta
brain
that
runs
this
meta
machine
in
the
sky
and
all
these
people,
whether
in
the
south
of
france
or
an
island
or
right
here
in
colorado,
with
a
lobster
on
the
mic.

We
have
this
concept
of
catalyst
circles
just
created
one
and
getting
all
the
bugs
out
of
that
process.
That's
kind
of
like
the
fun
too,
of
governance
and
just
like
fund
two
going
to
fund
six,
that's
going
to
evolve
and
more
and
more
and
more
of
the
community
is
going
to
be
involved
in
deciding
the
direction
and
governance
of
cardano
in
general,
and,
what's
so
cool
about
this?
Is
it's
completely
bottom-up?

There's,
not
not
a
lot
of
top
down
here.
The
top-down
stuff
is
just
ensuring
that
there's
best
practices
and
good
infrastructure
and
asking
questions
about
what
tools
we
need
to
construct
and
how
do
we
improve
things,
but
the
solutions
are
coming
bottom
up
when
the
challenges
come.
You
guys
as
a
collective
whole
are
the
ones
who
are
actually
rising.
Those
challenges,
whether
it
be
a
million
dollars
for
the
developer
ecosystem
or
1.2
million
for
dapps
and
defy
or
the
africa
funds.

Whatever
you
selected,
those
things
you
selected
those
challenges,
those
problems
and
the
community
is
the
one
that's
actually
making
the
call
on
what
to
do
now.
What
we
can
do
when
we
talk
about
tooling
and
infrastructure,
knowledge
and
methodology
is,
we
can
start
adding
layers
of
audit
and
countability.

We
can
start
adding
layers
like
incubators
and
accelerators
these
types
of
things,
to
take
these
proto
solutions
and
these
proto
teams
and
get
them
into
a
best
practice
oriented
mindset
and
also
make
sure
they
understand
that
when
they
take
money
for
the
community
they
work
for
the
community.
So
they
have
an
obligation
to
transparency.
They
have
an
obligation
to
audit
an
oversight.
So
we
have
conference
coming
up
next
month
in
september
and
what's
most
exciting
to
me,
there
are
four
tracks
in
the
conference.

There's
one
on
utility
there's
going
to
be
one
on
impact,
you
know
what
are
we
doing?
Are
we
going
one
on
adoption
where
we
can
kind
of
showcase
the
community
and
the
corporate
adoption
the
government
adoption?
But
governance
is
the
fourth
track
and
it's
one
of
the
most
important
and
there
you
know
we
get
to
actually
show
this
machine
we
constructed
together.
The
cryptocurrency
space
as
a
whole
is
not
aware
of
this,
yet
they're
they're,
still
thinking
that
it's
just
all
centralized
and
top
down
and
there's
a
few
people
floating
around.

Who
you
know
make
all
these
calls.
They
don't
really
understand
that
we've
silently
built
one
of
the
world's
largest
decentralized
organizations
into
centralized
decision-making
machines
and
it's
in
its
infancy
and
it's
growing
rapidly
and
more
and
more
people
come
in
every
time
we
do
a
fun
it.
Just
massively
increases
250,
000,
unique
votes,
33
000
wallets.

We
don't
even
have
the
mobile
interfaces
in
yet
or
the
deadlifts
integration
and
yet
guys
half
a
million
million
people
are
going
to
be
in
this
club
next
year,
if
not
more
with
state-of-the-art
tools,
state-of-the-art
methodologies,
tons
of
support
infrastructure,
hundreds
of
challenges
eventually
spreading
across
many
different
domains.
So
this
is
a
great
opportunity
for
us
to
kind
of
explain
where
this
is
going
and
why
this
is
the
heart
of
cardano
and
what's
going
to
make
cardano
frankly,
not
only
here
to
stay,
but
the
dominant
protocol
of
all
the
protocols.

we'll
have
this
conference
and
every
single
person
who's
seeking
funds
and
funds.
Six
who's
got
a
proposal
out.
They're
gonna
get
some
space;
they
can
make
a
proposal.
They
can
actually
showcase
that
to
the
world.
I
think
there's,
probably
more
than
fifty
thousand
people
show
up
for
that
conference
and
all
the
people
who've
already
gotten
funding
we'd
like
to
get
a
status
report
because
they
work
for
us
now
that
work
for
the
community,
like
what
have
you
done
where
you're
at
what?
What
have
you
accomplished
and
so
forth?

In
addition
to
this-
and
the
other
thing
to
think
about
is
this
is
a
great
opportunity
to
interface
with
people
who
have
been
thinking
for
a
very
long
time
about
these
problems.
What
makes
a
good
voting
system,
what
does
consent
really
mean?
What
level
of
participation
do
you
need
to
have
before
you
have
the
right
to
vote
and
also
how
do
you
avoid
systems
from
being
co-opted
by
radicalized
groups,
and
basically
they
speak
for
the
entire
collective,
whether
that's
in
their
best
interest
or
not?

These
are
problems.
Every
representative
democracy
has
to
deal
with
europe,
america
and
elsewhere,
and
we
see
the
consequences
when
things
get
co-opted
and
destroyed.
Well,
all
those
people
don't
speak,
crypto
language,
you
know
they
live
in
a
different
world
and
one
of
the
things
that
we
can
showcase
to
the
world
is
we're
open
for
business.
We're
looking
for
tools,
we're
looking
for
methodologies,
we're
looking
for
insight,
we're
looking
for
new
voting
systems,
we're
looking
for
a
more
fertile
environment
on
which
to
make
decisions
with
so
by
participating
in
this
experiment.

Somehow
we
can
still
communicate
effectively
with
each
other
and
collectively
we
can
actually
make
much
better
decisions
than
a
ceo
or
a
president
or
a
small
group
of
people
make,
and
we
can
not
just
make
those
decisions
over
money.
We
can
make
those
decisions
over
organizational
structures,
protocol,
design
and
eventually
governments
as
a
whole.
One
of
the
things
our
company
does
is
digital
transformation
and
not
just
of
corporations
or
protocol
design,
but
for
governments-
and
we
have
a
lot
of
governments
that
are
coming
to
us
and
saying
we're
falling
behind
in
this
global
economy.

experiment
we
are
conducting
here
could
inevitably
become
a
new
mechanism
of
governance
in
general
for
governments,
which
means
at
least
one
of
these
nations
is
probably
going
to
pull
the
trigger
and
say:
let's
try
it,

one
of
you
in
a
way
is
participating
in
an
experiment
above
and
beyond.

does
cardano
go
about?
How
do
we
as
a
collective
whole

human
species,
