On the June 18th Local & Offline Collaboration call Jim Kosem will join us once more, to share the final results of his work on IPFS Mobile Design Guidelines.

Topic: IPFS Mobile Design Guidelines: Principles for building user-centered and device-respecting IPFS mobile apps and services.

Summary:

Building on the previous phase of research into how P2P and IPFS are used in apps today and user attitudes around them, we've developed an early set of principles to use when designing and building IPFS and P2P apps and services for mobile devices. We'll walk through the principles and a set of example scenarios that illustrate them in action._

On our April 15 call, Jim Kosem walked through the goals, methodology and findings of his research into IPFS and P2P on mobile (7:15), and shared next steps in the project. On our March 18 call we discussed offline and decentralized approaches to data collection and disaster response (0:16), making medical imaging available on IPFS (4:40), Near Field Communication (NFC) for mobile (8:23), improved offline web hosting via DNSLink on IPFS (14:20), and whether one can build a searchable database on top of IPFS (25:36).

On our January 15 call, we explored LibreRouter's geek-free approaching to creating community mesh networks with Nicolas Pace (with a presentation from Michael Toomim (03:06), and heard about the Collective Code Construction Contract from Jonathan Dahan (46:48), who'll be adopting an implementation of it for Oasis, a web-based Scuttlebut client.
