After the Google Summer of Code project announcements on May 04, we are restarting regular GSoC office hours. In this video call we welcome 7 students who will be working with the Jenkins organization this summer. Okay, hi welcome to the google Summer of Code office hours really kind of been after one month break and today is May 6. We have some good news for you. All google Summer of Code projects have been recently announced, so we have seven projects this year.

Six projects will be targeting agendas, organization, one will be targeting Jenkins eggs and we have participants from both organizations on this call today and they I would like to thank all participants who students who applied to jae-seok potential mentors who were reviewing applications, ask certain questions and all other contributors who helped with feedback to students it's much appreciated and regardless of the acceptance decision, we appreciate all the effort which has been spent yeah. We had seven projects accepted, but I think we could share some statistics, so we had several dozens of applications.

We had around 20 projects now, at least so these are were the projects which we considered as feasible, as once we put potential acept and finally variable receptor on the seven projects. So, but it doesn't really say that other applications real bread. We really appreciate all the efforts and we invite all contributors to keep participating in the jenga's community. Maybe try again in google Summer of Code next year, or you can also consider other outreach programs. We organize them.

We ran our first community bridge project this year and if you are looking for mentor, you can just reach out to us and we will see what we could do.

We also welcome you to share your stories. For example years some of you already created prototypes during the application phase. If you feel that these prototypes is a good story to share with the community, you can already create a blog or still, you cannot or write a message to the developer mailing list to share this proof of concept and again to start getting feedback.

Yeah with respect to the projects, will they be a separate, get a channel for every project created? Is that supposed to be a.

Good use it's totally up to the inventory teams and to project teams, so we have. Last year we had a majority of projects choosing to have their own channels. The main reason for that is obviously traffic, because what we see our general recommendation is to use mailing lists as much as possible, but the reality is that many communications actually happening in charge and you can define a chat for yourself, so you can create a guiter chart. If you want, you can have a slapshot, for example, it might be much more reasonable for Jenkins X projects.

You can even have our C chart if you prefer so and if you need something specific Mears of that means we'll be happy to help this today, but communication channels is up to project teams. We don't expect you to participate in in office hours unless you have questions or unless you want to hand out etc. Just chat with people maybe share some experiences, so this meeting is totally optional. So in the past, we've had knowledge transfer sessions and those were special meetings. I suggest that if the office hours are available for knowledge transfer and if the timeline works with the people that need them, we could use office hours. For you know: 25 30, 40, minutes long knowledge transfer sessions for things that are common to to multiple people, I.

Agree why not and yeah I already started speaking about special interest groups? So if you go to the website, you can see that ever is number of sub projects. There is number of special interest groups and the many projects are somehow linked to them. Maybe we will do internal meetings, let's see, but if you have something you would like to share, we basically encourage you to continuously integrate your changes into the master branches. When you work on the project, you don't expect your project to stay in the branch for three months and then to get magically merged.
