Description
Sladyn Nunes will present a prototype of the Custom Jenkins Distribution build service. This service is being developed as a Google Summer of Code 2020 project.
The main idea behind the project is to create service that could be used to build tailor-made Jenkins distributions. The service would provide users with a simple user interface where they can define a Jenkins bundle they want to build: plugins, configurations, etc. Furthermore it would include a solution for sharing created distributions so that users can easily find and download already built jenkins war/configuration files to use out of the box.

out-of-the-box,
usable
Jenkins

simple
user
interface.
Our
community
shared
configurations,

that
I

user
creates
a
configuration
that
is
very
widely
used
in
the
community,
for
example,
Jenkins
and
EWS
trinkets
on
kubernetes.
Some
declare
that
configuration
can
be
can
be
easily
shared.

from

point

bit

for
easy
access
around
the
world.
Since
sometimes
you

while
you're
using
your
Jenkins
instance,
it
be
possible
that
loading
plugins
might
be
a
bit
difficult
for
you
since

face

some
network
issues,
or
you
know
that
proxy
might
be
disabled
in
your
network.
So
we
plan
to
work
around
that
problem
with
easy
access,
community
shared
configurations
and
a
simple
user
interface
and
out-of-the-box
Jenkins
distribution.

four
of
the
major
deliverables
of
this
project
and

Motivation
so
the
main
project
motivation
is
we
work
hard
so
that
you
don't
have
to

to
abstract
most
of
the
problems

user

Jenkins
distribution,
configure
the
plugins
and
then
download
the
file
and
then
keep
doing
that
again
and
again.

tried
to
do
most
of
that
work
on
our
side

that
what
you
would
have
to
do
is
just
simply

configure
it
by
a
web
UI
and
you
will
have
the
Jenkins
distribution
right
out
of
the
box,

Jenkins
initial
setup
very,
very
simple!
So
if
everybody
simply
turns
what
you
have
to
do,
is
you
select
your
favorite
plugins,
you
customize
the
configurations
and
you
relax.
So
this
is
the
general
flow
of
Jenkins
when
you
even
install
the
Jenkins
instance
and
your
configuration
and
stuff.

plan
to
do
that
or
make
it
easier
using
the
very,
very
simple
web
user
interface.
So
using
that
web
user
interface,
you
can
select
all
of
your
favorite
plugins.
You
can
go
back
and
forth
customize
them
and
then
just
sit
back
and
download
the
wall
file,
and
we
will
do
all
of
the
packaging
and
stuff
for
you.
The
service
will
then
generate
a
ready
to
use
Jenkins.
As
I
just
said,
you
just
need
to
download
the
WHA
file
and
run
it
right
out
of
the
box
without
any
hassle
of
any.

we
will

a
out-of-the-box
Jenkins
instance.

you
look
at
it
in
the
bigger
picture,

have
instances
which
are
already
configured

AWS

using
various
kubernetes
operators
and
so
on.
So
this
really
makes
it
very,
very
easy
for
you
to
just
download
and
use
the
instance
right
of
the
box.

more
obviously
so
downloading
community-created
configurations
know
directly
using
this
service
will
be
very
very
help
for
most
of
the
viewers.

download

use
cases,

we

formulas
for
them.

community
