This talk will be about how a mockup tool such as Adobe XD coupled with Photoshop can be a powerful addition to one's web development workflow. I've found that developing a website becomes orders of magnitudes easier when a design and mockup of the site already exists. Adobe XD is easy to use and is extremly powerful espcially when coupled with adobe photoshop. In this talk, I'll demonstrate Adobe XD by building a quick mockup of a website's landing page to show the audience how quick and easy it is to get it done.

Deployment to GAE is pretty easy and there are lots of tutorials out there, but personally I've found them slightly opaque. I mean, it's easy enough to follow along, but what does it all mean? In this demonstration I will attempt to make GAE seem less magical and also give a little run down of some features I like, eg how you can manage multiple versions of multiple services, how error reporting works, a few shortcomings and a few comparisons to other google cloud products.

you

an
outline
here.
I'll
start
with
an
introduction
as
to
who
I
am
you
know
why
I'm
here
and
with
that
define
what
a
mock-up
is
you
know
just
so
that
we're
all
in
the
same
page

also
talked
about
the
advantages
of
mock-ups
a
bit
of
a
demo.

idea
with
this
demo
is
that
there's
so
many
features
in
the

that

Adobe

The
first
thing
you
think
of
is
hey.
Let
me
just
quickly
mock
this
up
and
see
how
it
will
look
like
that.
I
would
have
achieved
my
goal
today.
I
guess
so
what
is
a
mock-up?
So
the
first
thing
I
did
was
ask
boom.
So
of
course,
Google
gave
me
this
academic
explanation.
It
talks
about
in
manufacturing
and
design
a
mock
up
or
mock
up.

It's
gonna
have
the
right
layout,
the
right
funds,
the
right
images
and
all
of
that
just
an
idea
of
what
you
are
going
to
do
without
writing
a
single
line
of
code
yeah
that
that's
the
that's.
The
very
important
part,
though,
is
that
you
do
all
of
this
without
writing
code.
So
it's
just
to
sort
of
quickly
give
you
direction
the
advantages
of
mock-ups,
so
the
first
and
most
important
one
according
to
me,
is
the
separation
of
concerns,
so
in
whipped
in
web
development.

find
it
very
common
way
we
as
developers
sort
of
design
while
building
the
site.
So
we
sort
of
like
have
this
design
in
the
browser
workflow,
where
we
sort
of
decide
as
we
go,
how
our
website
is.
Gonna
look
like
we
know
what
the
content
is
going
to
be,
so
we
sort
of
like
just
put
things
there
and
I
found
that
that
makes
developing
a
website
very,
very
difficult,
because
you're
mixing
mixing
two
very
simple
processes.

That
sort
of
you
know
make
the
whole
thing
seem
a
little
bit
more
complicated,
I,
always
think
of
it
as
say
as
me,
trying
to
prove
the
house
without
any
flow
plan,
or
anything
like
that.
So
I
sort
of
just
you
know,
decide
I
want
a
house
and
I
get
some
cement
and
start
and
stop
building.
You
know
and
I
see
I
see
a
lot
of
us
myself
included
I
used
to
do
this
and
yeah
that's
exactly
how
I
used
to
do
it.
I
just
look
at
the
neighbor's
house
and
say:
okay!

Well,
the
neighbor
has
five
rooms,
so
I'm
gonna
put
five
rooms
here.
Maybe
a
roof
some
way
yeah.
So
just
it's
that
separation
of
concerns
that
having
a
mock-up
allows
you
to
do
flexibility
as
well.
So,
with
a
mock-up,
what
you
can
do
is
that
you
can
experiment
around
with
a
lot
of
different
designs,
a
lot
of
layouts
for
your
content,
and
you
can
do
that
pretty
quickly
and
easily
I'll
actually
show
you
guys
how
to
do
that.
How
easy
it
is
to
do
some
time
later
in
the
demo.

But
if
you
are
designing
in
the
browser,
I
found
that
you
think
to
get
married
to
a
particular
design
because
changing
a
layout
or
changing
the
Stars
and
all
of
it
is
so
much
work.
You
have
to
write
a
whole
new
CSS
media
queries
and
all
of
that
so
yeah
with
mock-ups.
You
can
sort
of
like
have
many
different
designs
and
see
how
all
of
them
you
can
pick
one.
So
it
just
gives
you
that
flexibility.

other
thing,
of
course,
which
is
sort
of
a
family
ax
to
the
know,
to
say
that
it
sort
of
comes
from
the
attitude
is
that
it
makes
developments
so
much
easier.
How
does
hear
people
complaining
about
how
difficult
it
is
to
write,
CSS
and
yeah
I
used
to
complain
about
that
as
well,
but
I
realize
it's
because
I
didn't
know
what
I
was
trying
to
design.
So
it's
pretty
easy
to
search
and
ask
Google
how
to
put
a
button
and
the
top
right
corner
of
my
website.

But
if
I
don't
know
that,
that's
what
I'm
trying
to
do
then
I'm
gonna
spend
a
lot
of
time
fiddling
around
and
CSS
and
everything
this
is
gonna
seem
a
lot
more
difficult
than
it
is
so
this
knowing
what
you're
building
before
you
pulled
it
makes
it
makes
your
life
very
easy
and
number
four
it
makes.
Collaboration
really
is
the
reason
he
had
an
experience
with
this.

Where
a
team
of
my
team
of
mine,
we
were
building
some
sites
and
we
actually
mocked
up
the
entire
site
before
we
even
wrote
a
single
line
of
code,
and
then
everybody
had
the
mock-up,
so
it
means
that
we
could
all
work
on
the
interface
and
work
on
different
parts
of
it
while
conforming
to
the
actual
design.
So,
even
though
different
people,
both
the
sides,
it
has
the
same,
look
and
feel
everybody's
using
the
same
phones,
the
same
styles
and
everything
so
it
makes
collaboration
really
easy
yeah.

be

virtual
machines

you

pseudo,

can

whatever

the
problem
is,

have
to
look
after
it

can't
guarantee
those
up
times
as
easily,
because
you
need
to
keep
things
up
to
date
and
keep
things
running
and
all
that
good
stuff.

example,
and

say
you're
hosting
an
application
and
it's
a
web
app
and
you
are
pretty
popular
all

a
sudden

there's
a
spike
in
traffic,
and
now
a
single
instance
of
your
web
app

strong
enough

deal
with

but
you
want
to
be
able
to
spawn
up
some
extra
ones.
You
want
to
be
able
to
spin
up
new
instances
that
work
you

top
of
that,
you
want
to
handle
load
balancing.

requests

web
app,
they
go
to

instance

giant
pain
in

neck

be

challenge

chances

you're

that
much
control

handled

save

your
users

just

a
conduit

other
service
that
handles
the

can
confuse
people
sometimes

can
have

database
that's
elsewhere

Google
App
Engine

that's
the
main
downside,
to

the
sweet
spot
