A
Options
center
for
independent
living
is
a
non-residential
consumer-driven,
non-profit
that
services,
kankakee
and
iroquois
counties.
There
are
22
such
centers
in
the
state
of
illinois.
Our
vision
is
to
create
a
barrier-free
community
where
independence,
diversity
and
equality
are
valued
by
all.
We
help
people
that
have
disabilities,
maintain
their
independence,
be
as
independent
as
possible
and
participate
as
much
as
they
choose
in
society.
The
coveted
19
pandemic
really
impacted
options
in
two
ways.
A
Our
consumers
were
unable
to
to
get
out
and
come
to
our
office
for
needed
services.
If
there
were
things
that
they
needed
to
come
to
the
office
for
so
we
had
to,
we
had
to
adapt
a
little
bit.
We
had
to
cancel
all
of
our
in-person
fundraising
events.
So
financially,
we
took
a
hit
in
that
aspect,
and
those
unrestricted
funds
are
very
important
to
our
organization
because
they
help
us
provide
products
and
services
to
people
that
aren't
covered
by
our
specified
grant
funding,
because.

A
This
money
is
really
going
to
help
start
up
that
program
and
hopefully,
we'll
be
able
to
expand
it
from
there,
but
this
is
going
to
be
some
funding
that
is
much
needed
to
assist
consumers
in
kankakee
county.
A
lot
of
people
don't
know
that
we
are
one
slip
and
fall
one
accident
or
one
debilitating
disease
away
from
having
a
severe
disability
and
needing
some
of
the
services
that
options
is
able
to
provide.
