Description
As a part of Kankakee County’s Respond, Revitalize, and Reinvest (KCR3) initiative, Kankakee County Board is working to help replace lost revenue through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds following the COVID-19 pandemic.

A
The
mantino
community
fire
protection
district
serves
an
area
of
96.3
square
miles
in
the
northern
part
of
kankakee
county.
We
serve
the
residents,
businesses
and
guests
in
the
village
of
mantino,
the
northern
part
of
the
village
of
bourbon,
a
the
townships
of
rockville
and
mantino
and
half
of
sumner
township.
We
had
to
change
and
adapt
new
procedures
to
deal
with
the
covid
crisis.
We
had
cost
increases
as
we
had
a
purchase,
disinfecting
equipment,
disinfecting
supplies.
A
In
addition,
we
had
overtime
as
we
tried
to
fill
for
those
that
were
either
ill
or
had
been
exposed
to
patients
or
family
with
covet.
It
created
a
lot
of
stress
for
the
paramedics
as
they
tried
to
to
take
care
of
their
families,
as
well
as
serve
the
community.
With
the
introduction
of
the
arpa
funds,
it
gave
us
the
opportunity
to
replace
the
lost
revenues
and
that
we
experienced
during
the
covid
crisis.
The
replacement
of
those
funds
now
will
allow
us
to
purchase
the
ambulance
that
we
had
postponed.
A
We
appreciate
the
opportunity
chairman
wheeler
and
the
kankakee
county
board,
provided
us
with
the
opportunity
to
submit
for
this
grant
as
our
community
grows
and
the
demand
for
our
services
increase.
This
allows
us
to
provide
the
expected
services.
Our
public
has
come
to
expect.
The
art
of
funding
allows
us
the
opportunity
again
to
continue
our
service
to
the
community,
but
hopefully
we're
all
better
for
it,
not
just
individually,
but
as
a
community
and
a
county
as
a
whole.
