A
Hi
I'm
Consuelo
cruise
with
culture
and
creative
services,
bringing
you
information
about
upcoming
arts
and
cultural
events
that
are
brought
to
you
with
support
of
the
neighborhood
Tourist
Development
Fund.
Today
we
are
in
the
historic
Bali,
theater
and
I
am
with
the
artistic
director
of
the
Heartland
Men's
Chorus
Dustin
cade's
Dustin.
Thank
you
so
much
for
having
us
here
and
for
telling
us
about
what's
happening
on
June
eleventh
and
twelfth
you're,
celebrating
your
30th
anniversary
with
these
performances
here
at
the
folly
theatre.
A
B
Course
was
formed
in
1986
at
the
height
of
the
AIDS
crisis
and
sort
of
the
height
of
you
know,
a
new
generation
of
people
coming
out
of
the
closet
and
dealing
with
being
rejected
by
family
and
that
sort
of
stuff.
So
the
course
really
served
as
a
home
for
those
people
a
family
for
those
people
who
were
otherwise
rejected
by
friends,
family
society
in
general
and
over
the
past
30
years.
While
the
focus
has
changed
in
broaden,
we
really
serve
as
a
community
in
a
home
still
today
and.
A
Then
your
performances
are
going
to
be
a
historical
overview
of
the
30
years
of
the
chorus,
but
like
with
every
chorus
performance.
You
address
relevant
issues
that
cause
us
to
also
look
forward.
Can
you
give
us
without
too
much
information
given
away?
Can
you
tell
us
about
some
of
the
works
that
will
be
performed,
including
your
newly
commissioned
work,
yeah.
B
Well,
as
you
mentioned,
the
first
half
of
the
concert
is
a
retrospective
of
the
history
of
the
chorus
with
special
guests
from
our
past
and
then
the
second
half
is
thematically
surrounding
the
idea
of
rising
and
being
our
best
and
looking
to
the
future.
And
so
with
that
we
talk
about
what
it's
like
to
come
home.
A
Great
that
you're
incorporating
that
more
collaborations,
because
you're
also
known
for
that
the
the
folly
theatre
has
played
an
important
role
in
the
history
of
the
Heartland
men's
chorus,
because
the
chorus
has
been
performing
here
since
the
1990s.
Where
else
does
the
chorus
go?
What
is
your
reach
like,
and
can
you
tell
us
about
the
testimony
tour
sure
we.
B
Perform
throughout
Kansas
City,
the
phallic
theaters
are
our
home
home
base.
We
perform
at
the
Kauffman
various
you
know
venues
throughout
the
city.
What
we
also
do,
as
you
mentioned,
lots
of
outreach
performances,
and
so
this
past
spring
we
did
the
first
leg
of
what
we're
calling
our
testimony
tour.
We
did
two
performances
in
western
Kansas,
one
in
Salina
and
then
one
in
hayes
and
then
on
our
way
to
the
gala
choral
festival.
B
B
B
A
And
you,
this
is
all
volunteers,
so
you
have
200
very
passionate
and
very
very
talented
people
that
are
volunteering
for
the
chorus.
So
we're
pretty
fortunate
to
have
a
chorus
like
this
in
Kansas
City.
How
would
anyone
go
about
purchasing
tickets?
You
said
the
performances
are
June,
eleventh
and
twelfth
here
at
the
folly
theater.
